A bluestocking Lady…a stubborn Lord…each with their own tale. Can they find a path to happiness together?
Having enjoyed both a summer Season and Christmas time in London, Lady Maria is beginning to worry that she will not find a good match. Striking up a friendship with Lady Sophia, Lady Hayward’s daughter, they both agree that they will do all they can to assist each other in finding a husband. However, realizing that she must hide her bluestocking tendencies, Maria comes up with a falsehood, pretending that she is something she is not in the hope that this will finally encourage the gentlemen of the ton to court her.
Isaac, the Earl of Ridlington, has come to London for one specific purpose – to find himself a wife. But he has specific requirements which cannot be altered, and when he discovers that the daughter of a Duke might meet such requirements, he immediately finds himself considering her.
Believing her to be everything he needs, Isaac is horrified to discover the truth. What is worse, he quickly realizes that he cares for her more than he expected.
Dare he tell her the truth of his heart? Might they somehow find a way through the falsehoods and lies and towards a happiness that neither of them ever expected?
Rose has read her way through countless romances over the years, “borrowing” them from her older sisters, and hiding them from her mother.
She has a special love for Regency romances and when she began writing, the Regency period was a natural place to start. The ton, the wealthy families, the Season, the dilemmas, and yes, the marriages, have always fascinated her.
She loves a happy ever after! Now she is happy to bring this passion to her stories and share it with her readers.
On a personal note, Rose lives in North Carolina, is married, and has a terrier that barks too much. She enjoys taking him for walks to tire him out!
Before I start my critique of this book, let me say that I have enjoyed books by this author and in this series before. However, this one left me frustrated. I thought at first that I would enjoy the book. When I read that the heroine was a bluestocking—a particular favorite heroine type of mine—I very much looked forward to digging into the book. I particularly enjoy the bluestocking tales where the lady is her smart self and the gentleman comes to realize, sometimes to his surprise, that he likes such an intelligent lady. I was soon disappointed on several fronts. I was surprised when the heroine right away decided to hide her intelligence. Despite Lady Hayward's suggestion that she simply be herself to attract the suitor of her heart, the heroine decides to act completely opposite to what she supposedly is. She has no traditional Regency accomplishments other than her great thirst for knowledge, supposedly, yet she fakes having them. While she eagerly wants to jump into a discussion about the Corn Laws and Luddites, she holds her tongue. Worse than all this, to my mind, is that she actually acts like a silly ninny most of the time. She often spends so much time woolgathering during conversations that she often needs others to help bring her up to speed; her woolgathering is usually intense navel-gazing and “mind in a whirl,” thinking the same things over and over with little variation. She blushes, lowers her gaze, and cries too much, even for a Regency heroine. She reads far too much into every tiny action and reaction, and this makes her dither a lot. She might be well read, but she comes across as clueless, vacillating, and not terribly bright most of the time. I found her a rather annoying heroine and had no real sense that she is a true bluestocking. We only have her word that she is well read; she doesn't come across as remotely smart at all. In the big discussion with the hero towards the end, she acts in a way that is completely against her character, or at least what we had seen her before.
While I didn't particularly care for the heroine much, I liked the hero less. He came across as so arrogant for most of the book that I just never liked him. In that initial scene where the heroine is coming forward to own up to her deceit, I didn't like the way he dismissed her right away. Even as they built to the HEA, and his manners improved, I never came to like him. For me, that's essential for a story to be a good romance for me: falling for the hero along with the heroine. That never happened. While I had enjoyed other books in this series about the Duke of Landon's daughters, this one left me cold on so many levels.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
Lady Maria is looking for a suitable match under the guidance of Lady Hayward. Maria hadn’t been successful during her first season and wondered why. She was a bluestocking and liked to give her opinion on subjects that were not considered suitable for the female mind! Lord Isaac Ridlington has come to London to find a bride. He has specific, rigid requirements for his future bride. Isaac and Maria develop feelings for each other, however, there are things that they need to discuss that may make a difference to how they feel. This was an enjoyable read that illustrates how important good friends are. I received a copy via Booksprout and have voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A Most Suitable Bride: A Regency Romance Rose Pearson I've read a lot of books written by Rose Pearson; she has done a great job at writing a good book; she is one of my favorite authors. I can’t wait to read more from her.

This is the fifth book in the House of London series. I have read all the books and enjoyed them. The series is about the daughters of the Duke of Landon. He is a widower with six daughters. He and Lady Hayward have helped each other out with their grown kids. The Duke has helped her son the recently tiled Lord Hayward to learn his duties and with the matters of business . While Lady Hayward has helped four of the Dukes daughters to find husbands. Lady Sophia, Lady Haywards daughter is also having her first season. She and Lady Maria will become good friends. Now it is Lady Maria's turn again, as she has already had a spring season and also been in London prior to Christmas. Maria is worried about this season as she didn't get many offers from gentleman either time. A lot of the evenings she had no one ask her to dance either. Lady Maria is a bluestocking, which is not a compliment when spoken by the ton. Young ladies are to speak when spoken to, be able to play the pianoforte well enough as to not to hurt the ears of those listening. It is also good if they can paint, draw and sing. If they read at all it should be silly romance novels. Poor Maria does none of these things and doesn't want to learn either. She is very intelligence and well-read on current topics of bills to be pasted, laws going to be past and farming. She doesn't know how to talk about fashions, the weather or buying new dresses. Oh, what is she going to do.??? She really does want to have a husband and home like her sisters do. Isaac, the Earl of Ridlington is also in town to find a bride. He has no brothers so must provide an heir. Isaac is a no-nonsense kind of person. His parents did not have a happy marriage. His father gave him a strict list of what his Countess should be able to do and not do. Poor Isaac, he had no idea how hard it will be to find some poor Lady able to for fill such a long list. Also, I might add the list makes this poor lass sound dull and boring to me....as these two meet and start to learn about the other many things happen. Even with Lady Hayward's, Lady Sophia's and Isaac's friend Lord Bradstock trying to help them. Both Isaac and Maria have a lot learn, change and decide on before a happy ever after is even possible. This is a slow-going romance, the couple both have many secrets and baggage from their past to deal with. I found it hard at time to like either one of this couple. The story was not as intriguing to me as the others were. The ending is good, but some of the story was too repetitive for me. I received and ARC from the author and wish to thank her. This is my honest opinion and am voluntarily giving it.
Having enjoyed both a summer Season and Christmas time in London, Lady Maria is beginning to worry that she will not find a good match. Striking up a friendship with Lady Sophia, Lady Hayward’s debutante daughter, they both agree that they will do all they can to assist each other in finding a husband. However, realising that she must hide her bluestocking tendencies, Maria comes up with a falsehood, pretending that she is something she is not in the hope that this will finally encourage the gentlemen of the ton to court her. Isaac, the Earl of Ridlington, has come to London for one specific purpose – to find himself a wife. But he has specific requirements, which are set in stone, and when he discovers that the daughter of a Duke might meet such requirements, he immediately finds himself considering her. Whilst this is the fifth book in the series it’s easily read on its own. I think this is my favourite of the series. I loved Isaac who was determined to find a bride but she must conform totally to his requirements, which of course was never going to happen! I also loved Maria who went to desperate measures to try to find a husband. The misunderstandings, assumptions & deceptions often had me laughing out loud. A light hearted romp which was ldeal to lift my mood in these troubled times My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
2.7. A gal has to play dumb to get a marriage but then confesses she’s not dumb af and man of interest is like well I have a list of requirements from my dad (who I think died) for me lady but I ignores the ‘so called list’ and I falls madly in love theeeeeeeee end.
Isaac has finally settled his estate and is now ready to do his duty and produce an heir. For that, he needs a wife. As in everything, Isaac is prepared and has a list of requirements his potential wife should fulfil for him to even consider deepening an acquaintance. That is until he meets Lady Maria, who seems to be absolutely perfect, until she confesses to have deceived him… The characters were described vividly. I actually found both main characters quite relatable. Especially when something is very important, I like being prepared and work with lists, so even though Isaac’s proceedings forgot to “plan” having feelings, his actions were understandable and in any other circumstance would even be seen as being organized. Lady Maria had the astuteness to realize what she should change to have the chance to meet a gentleman. Though I am not supporting deceit and have personally always chosen to stay true to myself even when that meant being mostly alone in a group of people (very disagreeable, I can assure you), Maria’s actions actually showed great intelligence on her part. Thankfully, she had enough self-respect and wisdom to know that any true relationship needed to be based on honesty and so confessed as soon as she learned about Isaac’s interest of courting her. I find it always interesting to realize that some behaviour is absolutely acceptable in itself, and within another setting, the same seems absolutely preposterous. Enjoy this story with its contradictory elements and hope with the characters that they will be able to find common ground.
I received a free copy through booksprout and this is my honest review.
A delightful story of why one should not change their image for love
This is the fifth story in Rose Pearson’s “Landon House” series and it is as excellent at the past four. The characters have real depth and personality and the plot is wonderfully developed about an intelligent outspoken bluestocking striving to be what she is not and an uncompromising Lord with a list of attributes that a wife should have as they meet in Lady Hayward’s continuing direction for The Duke of Landon’s daughters to find a suitable match. Lady Maria, in her Second Season thinks she was unsuccessful in the previous season because she was a bluestocking and she decides to change her image to a demure soft spoken lady who only speaks of fashion, the latest novels and mundane subjects as ladies of the ton are supposed to. She meets Isaac, Earl of Ridlington, who has a list of very specific requirements that a wife should have, which surprisingly does not include affection of any kind. As they interact, Isaac believes that Maria, as she uses her farce, meets all the requirements and is seriously considering her. Lady Maria has developed feeling for Isaac and in good conscience cannot maintain the farce and she tells him the truth. The story continues and they work to find happiness that they thought impossible. As with the first four installments of Ms. Pearson’s “Landon House” series, you should not miss this one. Lady Maria, daughter of the Duke of Landon is going to London with Lady Haywood as her chaperone for the upcoming season. Will she have success this season? As a bluestocking Lady Maria is very intelligent, plus very well read on current events. Fashions, frivolous novels and weather are boring to her as are painting and playing the pianoforte. But to succeed as a lady of the ton, she decides to hide these interests in what has kept her off the grid. Lord Isaac, Earl of Ridlington after settling his estate, has come to London to find his perfect mate. Coming from an unhappy upbringing between his parents, he has made a list of requirements a lady must possess in order for him to court and marry her. Anything trait short of his list will lead to an unhappy match. The only attribute lacking in his requirements is attraction and feelings of love. Will Lady Maria’s deceptive qualities attract Lord Isaac? What will her true self do to the situation? I was fully attuned to Lady Maria’s predicament. The author’s talented way with description made me feel as I was present with the characters. I felt the characters to be very well defined, colorful, well created and very realistic. The ton is an eye opener to the way women we’re confined during that period. This is book # 5 in the London House series. It can be read as a stand alone. I am thoroughly enjoying this series and would highly recommend it. I volunteered to read A Most Suitable Bride. My opinion is voluntary and my own. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
5. A Most Suitable Bride 5 stars I purchased a copy of the clean historical romance A Most Suitable Bride: Lady Maria and Lord Isaac the Earl of Ridlington in the Landon House: A Regency Romance Boxset by Rose Pearson and this review was given freely. Containing two romances, this clean instant attraction story features a couple who finds love despite preconceived ideas of what a perfect match would be. Desperate and despondent after an unsuccessful year of London Seasons, the bluestocking scholarly Lady Maria, with the help of Lady Haywards’s daughter Sophia changes her image to appear more reserved and accomplished to provide the façade of a perfect debutant to attract a suitor. Lies, misconceptions, greed, and a father’s bias cause heartbreak and challenge Lady Maria and Lord Isaac’s fragile bond. 6. An Expectation of Love 4 stars I purchased a copy of the clean historical romance An Expectation of Love: Lady Dorothea and Lord Oliver, Earl of Winford in the Landon House: A Regency Romance Boxset by Rose Pearson and this review was given freely. A nice conclusion to the series. This instant attraction romance contains a fair amount of drama, depicts multiple forms of greed, self-entitlement, and subterfuge, includes Dorothea’s rocky quest for romance, and provides glimpses of romance between Mrs. Hayward and the Duke of Landon. The carefree, self-entitled, and spoiled Dorothea is guided through her first season in London where she makes many false assumptions while growing closer to the ungainly but protective Earl of Winford.
This felt like a slight nod to Pride and Prejudice. Lady Maria is a lot like Elizabeth Bennett, opinionated and intelligent. Only unlike Elizabeth, Maria felt the need to hide who she was so that she could gain a future that included a husband. Lord Isaac Ridlington is most certainly like Darcy. He is a snob of the highest order. He judges all based on what he perceives to be acceptable. An unfortunate result of living with parents who didn’t have a good marriage, and a father who manipulated his mind by constantly berating marriage. And Like Darcy, he has to learn a lesson on how to stop being such a snob. Lady Hayward is back as the ever-present chaperone. Only this time she has her own daughter, Lady Sophia to look over as well. Lady Sophia is a great addition. She is a kind soul, and loyal to her new friend, Lady Maria. I liked that she was not pretentious, or bubbly headed. Lord Bradstock was not Mr. Bingley is this. He was a good friend, and a very happy guy, but he wasn’t overly silly like Bingley. He also wasn’t led by his nose like Bingley, he was very quick to let Ridlington know when he was being a horses behind. I think the way Maria decided to change herself for others was very sad. What a day to live in when women couldn’t be anything other than a ‘bluestocking’ for wanting to be more than pretty shelf ornaments. Each book in this series gets better than the last. I look forward to the next.
Another fine match When I read about how Lady Hayward is guiding the Duke of Landon’s daughter’s towards suitable matches I wonder will she ever find a match of her own. A bluestocking with a secret and an Earl with a list. Not having much success the previous season lady Maria decided it was because of her bluestocking tendencies and with the help of lady Hayward’s daughter lady Sophia she became something she wasn’t. While she was pretending to be the perfect young lady she didn’t think ahead to what would happen if she did make a match. Which of course she did. Lord Ridlington came to season with a list of requirements that a young lady must meet to be considered his future Countess. His friend Lord Bradstock tried to get him to put aside his list and get to know no the young ladies and then make his decision but Lord Ridlington wasn’t having any of that. With her new persona lady Maria met all of his requirements and along the way he develops feelings for her that he did not want to acknowledge. Lady Maria has feelings for him also which she does acknowledge which makes it all the harder when she realizes she has to come clean. Lady Sophia was lucky in making what appeared to be a love match with Lord Bradstock. Very clean read

Lady Maria is the next of the Duke of Landon’s daughters to seek a husband but her first season was a failure because the bluestocking expressed her opinions on unladylike topics. This season she sticks to acceptable comments only and has interest from the ton but when she and Isaac form a connection the truth must come out. But when and how?
Isaac has a long, completely unrealistic set of requirements his bride must meet and his friend tries to get him to be more realistic. Maria is guided by the capable Lady Hayward who is also chaperoning her own daughter Lady Sophia. I really enjoyed the special bond these two very different young ladies formed. And I really enjoyed the changes in the two young gentlemen as the story progressed. They were unlikely friends as they were so different but were good for each other and the source of some entertaining comments.
I found the thoughts of the two main characters to be rather repetitive at times and Lady Maria seemed to be caught daydreaming quite a lot when she should have been paying attention to the conversation around her making her seem rather clueless. It was an enjoyable addition to the series despite this.

🕸️🕸️ONE DELIGHTFUL WHIRLWIND🕸️🕸️ Scorching skiddles! Rose brought out her A-Game with this thrilling tilt-a-whirl, raising the stakes and keeping it real, divvying out some harsh facts, deceptive folly's and relentless drive, hooking you from start to finish, skyrocketing this gem to staggering heights. Shenanigans and serendipity descend in a tempest of duplicitous deeds and canny maneuvers, obscured perimeters and blurred barriers solidify as limitations are amplified and tested, secrets confessed, revelations unmasked, secrets revealed and promises made, reaching deep for every fiber of strength in a fierce surge of determination, blasting this baby to life spectacularly. The attraction and chemistry flows with such ease, exposing boundless emotions and infinite affections, drawing our characters closer, binding them to one another perfectly. The characters are complex, genuine and realistic with traits and qualities that balance and blend, with amazing depth and diversity and enough spice to add an extra kick to the mix. Throw in 100% on point realism, raising the stakes with such graphic scenarios that are so colorfully descriptive and vividly detailed its like you're living it with them instead of on the sidelines. Fantastic job Rose, thanks for sharing this little gem with us.
Lady Hayward met the Duke of Landon about his daughter Lady Maria and her second season in London. Lady Maria was a bluestocking and had not been very successful in her first season, the fall season, and winter. The Duke was worried about lady Maria finding a husband because of her lack of womanly activities. Lady Hayward assured the Duke that Maria would find a husband it would just take a little longer than her sisters did. Lady Hayward, Lady Maria, and Lady Sophia, was Lady Hayward's daughter were on their way to London for the season. Lady Maria and Lady Sophia made a deal to help each other impress the gentlemen during the season. Now we have Isaac, Earl of Ridlington had come to London for the season to find him a wife who had to meet certain qualifications. The qualifications were as follows; she had to be from the best families, had to have an excellent dowry and an eventual inheritance, she had been able to paint and draw well, hold herself with poise and elegance and have an excellent manner about her. Rose Pearson has written a wonderful book that has just the right amount of trials and tribulations in it to make the hero and heroine realize that they are in love with each other. I recommend this book as it is a very enjoyable read...
I loved this lovely story for the earnestness and humanity of the characters. Lady Maria Forrest is starting her second season under the chaperone of a family friend, Lady Hayward whose daughter, Lady Sophia is coming out. Feeling the failure and loneliness of the previous season, Lady Maria makes a vow to hide her bluestocking ways and see if conformity makes a difference. Isaac, Lord Ridlington is facing the marriage mart and looking for suitably accomplished and accommodating bride. He has a long list of criteria. Not of which requiring an emotional attachment or feelings and definitely not a bluestocking! So he enlists his somewhat amused and proclaimed single friend, Lord Bradstock to help with introductions so as to not waste any of his time and effort. Meeting at their first ball of the season, they both felt a strange attraction. Both feeling overwhelmed, Lady Maria with her success this season and Lord Isaac who is not sure about anything anymore. Lord Isaac carries on with his plan for a suitable wife. An interesting foray into dreams and expectations versus reality.and compromise. Enjoyable read.

A most suitable bride. This is the fifth book in the Landon House series.
The duke of Landon is concerned about his daughter Lady Maria and her marriage prospects. Maria likes to read, which for a young lady of the time was not encouraged. A lady was to run a home
Lady Haywood who has helped his other daughters through a season in London does not seem concerned.
Israel the Earl of Riddington has a very unusual was of choosing a bride. He did not make it easy on himself, or any young lady, how would he ever find a bride.
This book was a really delightful read, deceit, love, second chances, and there is so much more to this book There is an extended epilogue that adds so much more to the story.
This book continues the Landon House series, it can be read as a clean independent historical romance. Personally I prefer to read them in the authors publishing order
Celeste is a talented, experienced author, whose books draw me in, to know the story and the characters, they are always well written.

Lady Hayward is summoned once again by Lord Landon to take his daughter Lady Maria out for the London season. He is worried about her finding a match because she is a blue stocking. Lady Sophia, Lady Hayward’s daughter is also going to join them as it’s her first season. Lady Maria realizes she must appear meek and dumb in order to find a husband so she tries to pull it off only to discover it’s working. Earl of Ridlington, is looking for a bride and has a long list of requirements that must be fulfilled. He is intrigued by Lady Maria. This is the beginning of the fun in the book. They dance around each other each with their own secrets. Rose Pearson is the Queen of Regency Romance. She has the beautiful settings, popular place people would go, the styling and language. Her books transport you to England and the best balls. Her books are easy to get lost in especially during this difficult time. I absolutely love Lady Hayward and wish she were my guardian! I’m excited to read the next book in this series. I highly recommend this book and this author!

Wonderful! Maria is the bluestocking of the family. As she enters into yet another Season with Lady Hayward as her chaperone, she realizes why she has, in the past, received no offers of courtship. Deciding to hide her true self, she plays the insipid society lady, and finds gentlemen flocking to her side. Isaac has decided that it is time to secure a wife, and has a long list of requirements which need to be fulfilled in order for him to consider a match. He meets Maria, who with the help of Sophia, Lady Hayward’s daughter, manages to deceive Issac into thinking she fits the bill. When feelings develop and her deception is discovered, everything falls apart. The characters in this story are exceptional. We finally meet Lady Hayward’s daughter Sophia, who is a breath of fresh air. Lord Bradstock is a wise and stalwart friend to Isaac, even when Isaac does not like what he has to say. Both Maria and Isaac grow emotionally and learn to trust themselves and each other. This is a lovely and satisfying story.

Lady Haywood is back in London with her charge Lady Marie and her own daughter Lasy Sophia/ As in the past Maria is another of the Duke of Landon's daughters she has agreed to introduce to the Beau Mond she also happily will be introducing Sophia. The two young quickly become close each helping the other while searching for a husband in the murky waters of the Marriage Mart. Maria has already had a season but just hasn't taken, with no gentlemen showing interest she realized it is because she is a bluestocking and has done nothing to conceal it. With Sophia's help, this season will be different. I\Lord Issac Ridlington, was in London seeking a wife determined to keep emotion out of the requirements he deems necessary even if a friend seems to find this odd. but he knows this is the only to find a peaceful marriage. Now both Maria and Isaac are not being completely truthful in the way they are betraying themselves, what happens when the truth comes out.

Another wonderful Landon House book! I love this series of books about the daughters of the Duke of Landon! Lady Hayward helps the Duke out by taking his daughters to London for the Season's and in return the Duke of Landon helps Lady Hayward's sons learn all they need to know about running the family business and estate. Lady Maria is the fourth daughter of the Duke's for Lady Hayward to help find an eligible gentleman to marry. Great characters and plots, with some interesting twist and turns. Lord Ridlington had a list of requirements he expected a bride to have... Lady Maria felt she must hide the fact she is a bluestocking... This is a very interesting turn of events that will keep you reading to find out how they deal with their love for each other, when they find that they both have been hiding their true feelings. Great job Rose Pearson! Another winner for the series!

As always, Ms. Pearson has given us a wonderful story in this fifth installment of the Landon House series. In this delightful story, the Duke of Landon's daughter, Maria, is a shy bluestocking and is not able to find a suitor. So she hides her true self and pretends to be the perfect lady and have all the ladylike qualities the ton expects to see. She attracts the attention of Isaac, who has his own extensive list of qualities his perfect wife should have. Maria seems to possess all those qualities. As they begin to grow closer, secrets are revealed. Isaac is angry at Maria's deception, but he also realizes he cares very much for her. Both Maria and Isaac have their own truths to face if they are to have a happy ending. This was such a delight to read and I enjoyed it very much. I highly recommend you read this book and all the others in the series as well!

What a lovely story. Lady Maria is sincere, kind, thoughtful and a bluestocking. When you made her come out, she expressed herself freely and was scorned for it. Now for the sake of getting married she must hide her true personality and pretend to be like other debutantes. Lord Isaac, Earl of Ridlington, has come to London to find a wife. He has a list of qualities that must be fulfilled before he would consider the Lady. Thank goodness for his friend Lord Bradstock who tried to reason with him the importance of affection and dare he say even love. Ridlington did not believe in sentimental feelings. He did not want that type of marriage. When he met Maria, she was acting as she had designed and Ridlington not only felt she filled his requirements but she also stirred something in his heart. When he decided to court Maria, she in good conscience could not continue as she was. She must reveal all and hope that the affection she was sure he felt would prevail. A very Sweet story.
Lady Maria is afraid she won’t find a suitable match. Her sisters have all found love matches but she is a bluestocking and didn’t have any success the two seasons she had so far. Isaac, the Earl of Ridington has come to London to find a wife. The only problem is he has a list of specific requirements to must be met. For Lady Maria to succeed this season, she is acting like all the other ladies for which she is succeeding. The only problem is she can’t paint, play the pianoforte, or sing, When she has feelings for him, she knows she needs to come clean and own up to her desception, even though she might lose him. Can his listen to his heart or will he stick to his requirements which she clearly doesn’t meet. I received a free copy of this book from Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Isaac, the Earl of Ridlington, has come to London to fulfill his duty of marrying and producing an heir. Precise and exacting as he is, he prepares a detailed list of requirements for his potential wife.
Lady Maria is a shy bluestocking, highly intelligent and knowledgeable about all sorts of things, unlike the ladies of the ton. But she has been unable to find a suitor and decides to pretend to be something she is not, a frilly lady who talks incessantly about fashion and such. She meets Isaac who is looking for the perfect wife and becomes interested in Lady Maria, at least until her confession that she deceived him. Will he give her a second chance? Will he tell her how he feels about her as he has started to care? Or is he too stubborn to look closer at the “deception” and realize it is inconsequential?
Lady Maria is starting to worry that she will not find a good match. She has been in London for the Summer Season and also at Christmas time with no success. She joins forces with Lady Sophia, Lady Hayward's daughter and they agree to assist each other finding a husband. To assist her in her endevor Maria pretends to be something she is not hoping to attract an appropriate gentleman to court her. Isaac, the Earl of Ridlington came to London for the specific reason to find a wife. He has certain requirements which must be met and a dajghter of a Duke mau meet those requirements. When Icaac learns the truth about Maria he finds he cares for her too much to let her go. Can they work through the deceptions and find a HEA? This is the fifth book in the Landon House series.

This one is very entertaining. I felt sorry for Maria treated so poorly by the ton because she was intelligent but you know as you read what she planned to do could have caused more problems. Isaac, the Earl of Ridlington is kind of naive about marriage. Trusting only what his father has told him he makes a plan to find a suitable bride. What he does find is Maria. There were so many misunderstandings and assumptions then add in a bit of deception too you have a fun read. I loved the cast of characters. Isaac‘s friend Bradstock and Sophia were wonderful. Lady Hayward took a bit of a backside role in this charmer. I highly recommend this story! I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
This is the 2nd Rose Pearson book I have read and she didn't disappoint me.
This book is a story about 2 individuals trying to find a most suitable spouse, while understanding what they need for themselves and also, accepting themselves as they are.
The story begins in the same poignant and sweet way as the previous book in this series. But, in this story, the conflict in their feelings for each other is self- inflicted rather than created by outer forces.
I love the character development of both the protagonists and loved the side- characters as usual. Can't wait to read the next book in this series.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
