This was a real “page turner” I couldn’t seem to get enough of Maeve and Grey. Lady pirates, devastatingly hand some Admiral, steamy Caribbean sex scenes. Pair that with a great plot, deep character developments and of course great writing makes for a fabulous story. It’s a worthy read and I enjoyed every moment of it. Would highly recommend ❤️

Danielle Harmon writing is a true pleasure to read if your looking for vivid phenomenal writing (all of her stories will not disappoint) She’s a born writer and I can’t emphasize enough that I’ve loved every single one of her books. Do yourself a a big favor and read her books you won’t be disappointed.

The above book blurb is quiet sufficient in giving you a glimpse of the story and rather than going into it again, I'd like to tell you why I think this story is worth your time and money.

What is very obvious in every book I've read so far from Ms. Harmon is that she respects her audience and gives them heroines that the said audience, and I suspect the author herself, can be proud of. Yes there are heroes aplenty in her stories, and mostly all Alpha males, yet when she writes her heroines I am all aflutter just reading about them! They are strong, willful and very astute, smart and witty females.
In `My Lady Pirate' she does it again by giving us a woman that is strong and stubborn; loving and passionate; a leader and a warrior.

What I liked and appreciated was Ms. Harmon's talent in creating a character that is NOT perfect and that engages my emotions. Maeve did that for me. She did things that many women do when confronted with men they fall in love with and don't want to admit that love. She tried very hard not to love him, even though the attraction was there. No matter how hard she tried to build obstacles between them and even tried to make herself hate him, in the end ...for the rest of my review, please visit me at Romantic Crush Junkies Reviews eZine...http://rcjrezine.com/?page_id=20&...

This book is incredible and I’m totally 💯 sure that this is by far the best historical romance I’ve read.I don’t no how I never earlier found this so epic and beautiful written love story. These are characters you’ll find your self thinking about long after you finished the book. After P.G Sea of Ruin I was so disappointed because of the great characters but the story and romance were a mess. And I was searching for a sexy Commodore since.BUT I’m a lucky girl and got a freaking sexy handsome smart adorable Admiral Graham “ Grey” Falconer instead. To all historical romance fans out there : read this epic love story because it’s having everything you search in a romance. The writing with all the wit and banter between the heroine and hero will fill you with laughter and entertainment I promise. It’s never boring while the writing is fluent and everything makes sense. For the safety gang:There’s no cheating no rape just pure as Sinn love romance and a hero who’s completely devoted to his “Majesty” 😉aka his heroine. Can’t praise it enough and this one is a re re reread book for sure.

My Lady Pirate by Danelle Harmon

I enjoy pirate stories and when the pirates are women, I enjoy them more.

The description of the book I am listing below is from the back jacket of the book. I'm adding it because I believe the one on the Goodreads page does not depict this story.

QUEEN OF THE SEA

Maeve Merrick is the notorious Pirate Queen of the Caribbean-a fierce and fiery she-wolf burned by the treachery of men. Sensuous and independent, she sails the world's oceans with her loyal band of women warriors. Desiring neither marriage nor love, she wants for nothing—until the sea delivers to her a treasure beyond compare.

KING OF THE ROGUES

Her gift is Gray, a handsome castaway with a dangerous secret, who is overcome with desire for the bold and bewitching pirate queen. Beneath a star-studded sky, Maeve succumbs to the magic of Gray's passionate touch. For the dark stranger has vowed to conquer the beautiful buccaneer's heart. But can he teach her to trust—and to love—once more?

Insomma, ho trovato tutto piuttosto forzato.

4.5 ⭐

My Lady Pirate, the second installment of the Officers and Gentlemen series, by Danielle Harmon, evolved around Mauve, a female pirate known as The Queen of the Caribbean, and Grey, her Knight.

The storyline was well written and was filled with humor, action, mystery and romance; the sea battles were exciting and kept to the History of the nation; it even included a real life, British Navel Hero, Lord Nelson.

Though I enjoyed the book, there were parts I found frustrating; one of them being Mauve, also known as Her Majesty. At times she was very stubborn and she enjoyed screaming; nearly every sentence spoken between her and Gray, along with her crew, was ended in an exclamation mark. After several pages of this behavior, it grew tiresome. Also, her inability to understand why Gray insisted she no longer pirate the open sea after she became his wife, was frustrating; he was an Admiral of the British Navy and as such, his wife needed to leave that lifestyle behind. She did not agree, at first, and she kept walking away from the one man who loved her, regardless of her history. In the end, it all worked out, yet those parts were very tedious, drawn out and could have been edited down, in my opinion, and would not have effected the outcome of the story. Now on to Grey, our Knight.

When we first meet Gray, he was heading to the home of his paramour, under the disguise of a pirate but was tossed into the sea and after being assisted, by a very sweet dolphin, was brought to the Island of Mauve, Queen of the Caribbean. Once they met, it was love at first sight and he sat his eyes on his Majesty and never looked back. After several months of arguments, battles and drama, the two do marry and live happily ever after. The only problem I have with Gray, was after Mauve saved his life, by killing the man to protect him, he grew distant and cold towards her; his reason being that the wife of a Navy Admiral, didn't behave in such manner. He knew her lifestyle, so why did this anger him so and she did save his life; if anything, he should have been grateful.

In closing, I have to say I enjoyed this book and plan on reading more and I would recommend it. There were no grammatical errors, that I found and it was written very well. As far as love scenes, there were a few, and they were great, but in a 500+ book, I'd expected more. I took a half star away because the book ended suddenly and the epilogue was focused on Nelson and not with the couple themselves and the last 20+ pages was the first few chapters of another book. I would have rather had a look into Gray and Maybes life after marriage.

I absolutely love anything written by Danelle Harmon. She writes such richly developed characters and fantastic plots that I find myself reading and re-reading her books over and over, as I did with My Lady Pirate. Her characters may seem over the top at first, but she quickly reveals their human quirks and frailties. In My Lady Pirate, Maeve is a strong-willed pirate disappointed by love and very scornful of men. Grey is a British Navy Admiral, obsessed by pirates and a love of women, who soon finds himself ensnared by his dream woman, the Pirate Queen Maeve, but he cannot seem to convince her that he is the answer to her prayers.

It is obvious that Ms. Harmon has a vast amount of knowledge of the period and the great sea battles that took place then. I could almost picture the ships and the difficult life on board them. One detail that made this story special was her inclusion of Admiral Horatio Nelson, a real life British naval hero.

Another aspect of Ms. Harmon’s writing that I particularly like is her humor, and I found myself laughing out loud several times during the story, especially when Grey tried to grapple his way into Maeve’s bedroom to propose!

I have read this book three times, and recommend anything written by this author, as she has never disappointed me. In fact, I even listened to the audio version of the book and was astounded by the narrator, Wayne Farrell. His voice and his performance were perfect for the story. He did a great job on the different accents, and I always knew which character was speaking. If the idea of reading the book seems daunting, get the audio version. You won’t be disappointed.

DROPPED.

I'M SORRY, I COULDN'T TAKE THE CHARACTERS SERIOUSLY!! 😂😂 Was this supposed to be like a rom-com historical? The Lady Pirate was hardly a pirate when she blubbered like a girl out of a schoolroom when Gray was dragged up upon her island. She only knew how to threaten him with her cutlass and her comebacks were SO LAME!! And I couldn't quite get over her whiny behaviour. 7 years ago, she ranaway from home with a Frenchman her parents opposed and they never came searching for her. Mind you, there's some sort of misunderstanding that her parents believed her lost in a shipwreck. So, she blames her parents for never searching for her and feels bitter about it.

MAEVE was the most immature, bratty pirate ever...umm no, hard pass. It didn't take long for her to fall into bed with Gray, and it was only what...Chapter 5? The insta-love part was the deal breaker.

GRAY was most likely NOT a pirate, although he claims to be one. I laughed at his antics, but his promiscuous, happy-go-lucky type of character just wasn't my type. Add in those MANY sexual innuendos he uses all the time? I absolutely couldn't take him seriously, and didn't know where the story was headed.

Perhaps if you like a light and comical romance with some swashbuckling, this would be good for you. Not me.

Great tale

The hero fantasized about pirates and even imagines himself a pirate. The heroine is the real thing, with a band of female pirates to boot. The fantasy makes him fall in just and in love until he realizes she isn't just playacting like he is. Eventually there is a happy ending but there is the usual angst until then. A good story, with a trifle too much sex to make it five stars but I realize that is a matter of taste for some

OM goodness again!

This is the 3rd book in the Heroes of the Ses series and it was amazing! The action, suspense, the wrangling of emotions, female pirates, gallant Knights/soldiers and the sea battles were great! If you like this genre this book is for you! I thoroughly enjoyed it and I believe you will also. Author Danelle Harmon knocked it out of the park!

I do not enjoy all the arguing. The book was long, but the ending was rushed. It sounds like I did not like the book...but I did. I can't wait to begin the next one.

Fun!

The yummiest hero, an undaunted heroine. This story starts out fun then moves through adventures, developing characters, steamy sex scenes and comes around to a happy ending (of course). One of Ms. Harmon's best.

The characters and dialogue in this well written story are very entertaining as the plot weaves in subplots of family drama. It’s an adventure that draws you in to another time. 👍👍💜

Okay, Maeve is a pirate, and Grey is an admiral in the British Navy who gets his kinks off by dressing up and playing pirate. He washes up on her island in the midst of a magic spell where she is summoning the man of her dreams, and it's kind of love at first sight.

There was a lot that didn't make sense in this book, and there were many things that irritated me. Gray is downright irritating as a main character. He is everything a woman doesn't need: completely full of himself on the surface and completely insecure underneath. His overbearing, "You will do what I say when I say," got extremely annoying. It was like he was playing the role of an admiral throughout the book, and he was really just a loser who still lives with his mom. Then there is Maeve, who is supposed to be a female pirate. However, she 100% gives in and falls for Gray way too soon for a woman who has supposedly been jilted before. Then she was completely weak and whiny in so many ways. Then, at the end, It's bad enough you have Gray, who is just really not a good lead, but then a wishy-washy pirate and her crew that seems more like sorority members than a deadly group of buccaneers just wasn't doing it for me.

There are horrible historical inaccuracies. The fact that Nelson was MARRIED to another woman, just as Emma was MARRIED to another man, is completely ignored. No, in this book, they are the ideal, perfect couple. An Emma is running everywhere like a young, thin lady. At this point in her life, she was not simply plump. She was morbidly obese. She didn't talk like a country bumpkin; she talked like a bawd because she basically was. Further, I didn't understand why Nelson's story is included.

This book perpetuates the myth that boat captains (who are not ordained ministers) can perform marriages. It also has a woman who frequently does things after getting shot that put her life in danger again because she starts bleeding profusely, It was pure stupidity in my book--she wasn't even doing it .

This book also had head-hopping and typos throughout. The sex scenes were extraordinarily long and descriptive--I suppose if that's why you read a romance novel, you might like this, but I read for plot and have no interest in those. Since the plotting dragged at several points, especially near the end, and I already disliked the characters, I can't recommend it. When books this bad get all the recognition that this one has, I am extremely suspicious of our traditional publishing racket--which has the money and thereby power over reviewers and contests to promote garbage.

This Hero Has A Wonderful Character- You Want To Know Him!

The book starts out with the Pirate Gray- the 'scourge of the Spanish Main.' On his way to his latest local conquest- the Lady Catherine- a sugar Merchant's daughter who satisfies her carnel interests while her father is away. Things don't go as planned, and the Pirate Gray, falls from his boat and is separated from his crew in the dark. He loses contact with his crew, sees his ship sail off without him, and never meets his Lady. Alone, in the darkness of the Caribbean Sea, he drifts until a friendly dolphin finds him and helps him. The dolphin brings him to a nearby island that seems to be inhabited by Pirates. This is where the story really begins.

The year is 1805. Napoleon has joined up with Spanish Naval forces, hoping to reign advance his interests across the European continent. Fearing an attack on England, Lord Nelson is determined to find and destroy The French naval forces - away from the European continent. Gray is really Lord Nelson's protege- a Rear Admiral in charge of the English Naval forces in the Indies. Gray's games at playing Pirate - this time- seemed to have gotten of hand. While the 'Pirate' Gray finds himself beached on a secret Pirate island, his crew reports him as 'dead' to Nelson - not wanting want to tell the real story and destroying Gray's 'good' reputation. The loss personally devastates Nelson, who feels he raised Gray as a young boy of thirteen, when he first joined the British navy.
Meanwhile, on the island, Gray meets the Lady Pirate of the island and it is love at first sight for him. But he refuses to submit to her demands to acknowledge her as royalty, and is thrown into a dungeon. He is adept at escaping, and finds his way to her bed- and meets the Lady Pirate, on his terms. At the same time, he realizes that he does need to get back to Nelson and his ship- and she can provide the means to do that. He doesn't think he can trust her and keeps his real identity a secret. At first she thinks he is a pirate that got separated from his crew and ship. However, he is intrigued and wants her, and convinces her he is a traitor to the English Government - and she decides he must be turned over to Nelson. But he cannot resist consorting with her. She falls in love with him- but her pride gets in the way. Before he is turned over to Nelson, he has taken her heart and has earned her distrust. When next they meet- he begins to realize that The Lady Pirate has a heart and a story. He determines that he has to earn her trust and deserve her heart. It is this story that thrills you right to the last page! Gray is the hero that every woman wants to know.

Gray, the pirate, was headed for a tryst, when fate knocked him off his ship, and with the help of an intelligent dolphin, washes up on the island domain of Maeve Merrick, the feisty Pirate Queen of the Caribbean.

Betrayed by her first lover, and then by her own father , Maeve isn't really looking for a man to complicate her life. Nevertheless, her crew has talked her into making a potion to conjure a "gallant knight" (into which she dumps seagull poo as the final ingredient!), when this man washes up on her shore. They're instantly attracted, so naturally, given that both of them are alpha types, there's a battle of the sexes. Just when they finally manage a truce, Gray has to go and screw it up—deliberately, and in a way that hits Maeve just where she hurts most.

The story continues into the historical lead-up to Admiral Horatio Nelson's final, heroic battle, while the H/h war with and against each other. I love that the heroine in this one doesn't just take crap lying down—it takes quite a while for the hero to win her trust again.

I'd give this an extra half point for the lovely historical detail about Nelson and Emma Hamilton (this woman has one hell of a good story, even if it does play out in the overdone late Georgian Era), but then I'd have to snatch it back because the ending didn't quite hit right with me. There was a pretty good denouement (thanks to some fairy godmothering by Nelson), but then, a too-abrupt jump ahead to an epilogue that didn't meet my expectations.

A great humorous read with full of laughs from the main two characters

I loved every bit of the book - the story and it's characters, but most of all I loved Sir Graham 'Gray' Falconer. He was a loveable hoot from the beginning to the end. I loved his playfulness and humor - so much so that at certain scenes I had tears swelling up in my eyes from fits of giggles (especially when Maeve found him unexpectedly in her bed) and his undieing persistence when it came to wooing and convincing Maeve that he was indeed her gallant knight she wished for. There wasn't anything he wouldn't do to win her heart - even going to great lengths as embarrassing himself when scaling her window at night and mistakenly ending up in an elder lady's room instead of Maeve's. As always, I love all of Danelle's novels and I definitely LOVED My Lady Pirate.

This book was my very favorite, so far, of this fabulous series! I just loved the hero, Gray. He was so patient, so clever and so amusing in the way he handled the little Pirate Queen. I particularly loved the way the author portrayed Admiral Lord Nelson. He was a great addition to this book and made me want to "google" him to learn more about this incredible, heroic man (England's greatest naval hero). There were two scenes at the end that brought tears to my eyes, for they were equally heartwarming and heart wrenching. Oh yes, this was a wonderful book and I totally loved it! I highly recommend it and the entire series! It's amazing!

When I read the previous story, Captain of My Heart which is based on the heroine's parents, I didn't think that book could be topped but Danelle Harmon wrote another winner with this one. Another swoon worthy hero, I absolutely adored Gray. Maeve was another spunky heroine just like her Mother and Gray was perfect for her. Lots of interesting characters and even a real life hero included in the mix. I loved how Admiral Nelson was portrayed so much that I went online to research his history for myself. Danelle Harmon did a great job depicting this real life figure and did a wonderful job building her story around him.

Darn you Danelle Harmon! I love your characters so much! In this third book of the heroes of the sea, we meet the next generation of the Merrick family. I really loved this book. I loved the characterization of Lord Nelson in the book as well. I'm glad I got the whole series at once so I don't have to wait for the next one!

Danelle Harmon continually creates characters with panache: i.e. lots of energy and style. Plots within plots create a novel that is difficult to stop reading. Everything in an everyday life does not exist for her readers.

I have never given a five star review. I thought the last series she wrote was great. This is an outstanding book. It is my favorite do far in this series of books. The others were very good, but again this one is OUTSTANDING. Just my opinion.
