Jennifer Colby-Kittler is the boss. They even call her The Jenneral. But married life is hard, even when you call the shots. When the sizzle in her and husband Russ' romance goes AWOL, Jenn calls in the big guns. They're going to forge ahead and have a second child whether Russ likes it or not. The only problem is that Russ is leaning toward not.

When the Kittler's new baby mission doesn't go according to Jenn's plan, the tension grows, and a mutiny in their marriage unfolds. Jenn's sister (the lovable Kait from Project Kaitlyn, book one in the Sweet Water Circle series) and friends intervene, forcing her to explore her inner being by attending yoga classes hosted by a dreamy new instructor. Jenn reluctantly agrees, needing to learn to how to let go of control before a civil war leads to divorce. But when the guru falls for her (desperately wanting to also explore her inner being) and an old flame finds out that Jenn's marriage is under attack and attempts to plant his flag, Jenn doesn't know which path to choose.

Can Jenn learn to let go before her life spirals out of control? Should she save her marriage before it's too late, start over with someone new, or go it alone?

With hysterical antics, witty and humorous dialogue, and a strong character arc, you'll love the follow-up to Project Kaitlyn. Jenn Reinvented is the second book in the hilarious Sweet Water Circle series, exploring the relationships, life adventures, and personal growth of a small circle of friends, who you're gonna want to hang out with, which is good, because their stories are ready to be told in the rest of the Sweet Water Circle series!

I don't think I've ever read a book that talks so much about sex! Jen wants a second baby her body doesn't want to play ball. Her husband isn't fully on board but Jen is obsessed!

Just so you know this book is halirious. First time we are introduced to Nana who needs her very own TV show because she is pee your pants funny!!! Even reading an old lady talk about her sex life previously with her husband I cringed with awkwardness. But it's funny as hell!!

Jen is a likeable character and we have briefly been introduced to her previously in kaitlyns story. She is quite strict and harsh on herself. She is a perfectionists who is full of imperfections. Her crazy belief that she will get pregnant is almost heart breaking. Trying to get pregnant Is hard work and puts huge strain on her marriage.

This is funny not quite as funny as Kaitlyns book but it's worth a read because you get updated. Plus there's so much sex talked about you will try deciding if you find it hilarious or if you're just horny ha 3.5 stars 🌟

This book depressed me, probably because she was an awful wife and then had to grovel to get him back. He left her in part for another woman, and they both had sex with other people. It was too much water under the bridge for me. I also felt that since she was awful to him for 10 years, he's going to hold it over her head for 10 years because he still had a lot of resentment. It felt like it would have been better if they didn't get back together. The author did wrap it up showing them very happy together, but I can't help but remember that he is still working with the woman he had an affair with.

I see a lot of glowing reviews for this book, but I think this author isn't for me.

This is the second book in the Sweet Water Circle series. This book was so hilarious in parts , it honestly had me laughing out loud.

This book features Jennifer Colby-Kittler aka the Jenneral ! Oh what a up and down life she has ! She is craving having a second baby ... but the husband Russ doesn't have the same feelings about that. An intervention from her sister Kait and her friends is much needed! When they manage to encourage her to go to yoga to find her inner being... what she finds is a very hunky yoga teacher! She has some big decisions to make... does she let go of having a second baby to stop her marriage dissolving.. does she start over with someone new or does she go it alone

The book is full of everything you could need in a book , ups, downs, fabulous friends . I absolutely loved Jenn she was a fantastic character to read , you end up willing her to make the right choice but also enjoy the mayhem that enters her life. I am definitely going be keeping my eye out for this author ! A brilliantly talented author !

For me, while this story seemed heavier topic wise than the last, the amount of adult humor injected really walked the line of we're good and okay, that'll be all please. Still, if you can't laugh at a yoga pant wearing Adonis offering life coaching advice while not being able to control himself enough to finish things properly, then what can you? Seriously though, my humor taste was drawn more to her precious yet precocious moments with her son and the accidental utterance of some curse word or another. (They were funny, but cute!) I was more disgusted than anything else with her soon-to-be-ex husband's antics. I get his point, but I agreed with Jenn...why now? Why not then, or any other time for that matter? If roles were reversed, he'd be just as lost and clueless.

When all was said and done, I enjoyed my time between the pages. While I wasn't in love with Russ and the way he handled things, as long as our gal Jenn ended up happy in the end, there's only so much of a grudge I can hold.

I have received an ARC from Hidden Gems, so am leaving this review as requested in exchange.

This book is no.2. in the sweet water circle series, and it is quite different to the first novel in the series. I think that the author sums that up at the end: the two protagonists are at very different life and relationship stages.

Did I like this book? The true answer is I don't know. I enjoyed reading it. Thoroughly, I thought it was quite engaging and funny at times, and at other times tedious and mundane. To be honest I was rooting for Jenn to get divorced and find herself someone less absorbed with themselves than Russell. The two options provided to her seemed quite hopeful, and then the author took an about turn and turned the a) enigmatic, enlightened, gorgeous and zen yoga guru into a childish premature ejaculator obsessed with Jenn (WTF?, while it does provide humour it's not even remotely close to being likely, and I wonder if the author has ever even done yoga or even met a yoga instructor.) and b) poor Joe who is so hung up on Jenn for the last 20 years, who was mature enough to try to be her friend, turned into a bumbling idiot just begging her to have him. The author totally lost all respect for Joe. As did the reader.

Russ was a self absorbed idiot who blamed Jenn for all their marital problems. He could have, at any time, told her that he was unhappy and that he wanted to be an equal partner. He needed her direction in the beginning and got lost in that, couldn't find his way out, and blamed Jenn for it. So instead of talking to his life partner he just rebelled against her, creating anarchy, tearing apart his family in the process. And poor Jenn was left wondering what had even happened while he was moving on. Russ really is an unlikeable little worm...

I thought that the author did a great job at writing Jenn's heartbreak, confusion and loneliness, as well as capturing her love (and her connection and how well she knew him) with the man she so dearly loved. I also thought the dynamic in this dysfunctional broken family in the same home was well conveyed.

However, the quick resolution, which felt like Jenna and Russell just suddenly woke up and about-faced themselves and fixed everything overnight, was unrealistic.

The pace of this novel was also random. The first 50 pages or so were on one night (for Kaitlyn, not even the protagonist), then in one chapter we moved months. The beginning was very slow to start.

This book is not as light-hearted as Project Kaitlyn, it has more grit to it, but if you take it for some light escapism, that also tugs at the heart strings, it serves its purpose well. I don't think that I can bring myself to read a book abut Taylor though. I guess time will tell, perhaps the author will surprise me.

Would I recommend this book - yes, but I would definitely recommend you read the first in this series (Project Kaitlyn) before this one!!

I was a given a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. Here it is…

I have SUCH mixed feelings about this book. First of all, I assumed the author was a woman. Maybe that was a stupid assumption with the name Grayson, but given the category (rom-com) and the cover, I just thought the author was a woman. It was clear to me within the first two pages of the book, however, that the author was not a woman.

Although, now having said that, I just tried to confirm it and I can’t find a picture of the author or a bio that contains any pronouns, so maybe I’m wrong. Or maybe there’s a reason the author wants to remain ambiguous given the reaction I had to reading one of their books.

After my initial aversion to the content due to the constant sexual references and innuendos, I did get into the story. It was a bit far-fetched, but it was an enjoyable storyline. Then the ending had me annoyed.

I didn’t hate this book, but I can’t say there’s anyone I would recommend it to.

Jenn Reinvented is the second novel in The Sweet Water Circle series where each novel will focus on one member of the friend group. While the first novel, Project Kaitlyn featured a different main character, the main character in this novel, Jenn, was included as a secondary character. In this novel, the characters set out to find how to move forward when their marriage is falling apart. This novel is simple as the problems the characters face are realistic and relatable yet still compelling enough to keep the reader interested.

Jennifer (Jenn) Colby-Kittler is 39 years old and is married to her husband, Russ with their son, Cooper. The story opens with her waking up with her husband and him rejecting her in bed. She realizes that the spark might be gone and she now makes it her mission to figure out how to fix it. Since she is used to taking charge of her family, she takes a lot of the responsibility to find a solution to bring back the passion. When she looks through past photos, she sees how happy they were when Cooper was a baby, so she starts to think that a second baby might be the answer. As the story is told solely from her perspective, the reader only experiences one-half of this marriage.

On the other side, Russ is tired of Jenn always taking charge, as he does not believe she sees him as his equal in the partnership. Although he does express this to Jenn and states that he has felt this way for a long time, it was hard to imagine that this argument did not come up sooner. It is interesting how Russ and Jenn have an established dynamic that obviously bothered Russ for years, but he tried to let it go, and instead, it built up. I wish the story went into a little more exploration for why he never tried to have a conversation about it before, as Jenn seemed to be in the dark about how Russ felt about this issue.

Things do not go as planned and the marriage seems to get more strained by the second. Divorce is placed on the table as a possible option and Jenn decides it might be time to give up and put herself out there. She begins taking yoga classes with a handsome guru, who may have some feelings for Jenn. There is also her past love Joe that is still a member of the community. Joe went out when Jenn was 19 and he still might harbor feelings for Jenn. There is also the fact that even though Russ put the separation/divorce on the table, neither of them want to give up the house and both continue to live there with their son. There are many humorous and light-hearted moments mixed with the serious ones to figure out how Jenn will reinvent herself and figure out if it is time to move on or time to work things out with Russ.

Essentially, this story is a great lesson in communication, as both of them did not express themselves and each let their feelings fester which led to larger issues. To me, both of them had issues, but I could not understand Jenn wanting to bring a baby into a marriage with issues. This is a real situation, though, as I even know people that this happened to and some of those relationships worked out and others did not. Jenn’s frustration with having a spouse seemingly ignoring her as relatable as almost everyone has felt this at one point or another in any relationship (does not have to be a marriage). It can be very exasperating to be told everything is fine, but they obviously are not. The ending was a little rushed as I would have liked more, but it did fit well with the characters. Overall, this was a very enjoyable novel and I am definitely interested in reading more from the series in the future!

**I give a special thank you to Rachel @rararesources and the author for the opportunity to participate with this enjoyable novel via Netgalley. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.**

Grayson Avery’s second foray into the Sweet Water Circle, with Jenn Reinvented, took me to new depths of feeling. The friends gathered and tried to set up a new direction for their wayward buddy. But, even with their humor and grace, I had a hard time with my emotions for this round.

I must admit I hated Jenn in this book. When she appeared in Project Kaitlyn, her demeanor made her seem loveable and on top of things. But, the full force of her commanding attitude left me wanting to throw the book rather than deal with her. She’s not only controlling but completely selfish as well. Yet, I found myself deeply invested in her happy ending. Russ acted like a complete jerk. Even though I understand his pain, I felt Jenn’s too.

I came prepared to blast this book out of the water in anger until I read Grayson’s notes at the end. After I did that, I felt much different about what I read and my feelings toward Jenn and Russ. After reading his thoughts about Jenn’s behavior, I saw a lot of myself in her. How many of us feel ignored by their spouse? I know I did. So, instead of talking things out, Jenn and Russ let go. Jenn made horrible choices in an attempt to deal with her feelings. Russ spoke hateful words instead of trying to work things out. Jenn’s selfish choices were her way of coping. I’ve been in her shoes. Unfortunately, Jenn hurt a good man in the process.

The Circle didn’t help much either. When Kait’s trouble escalated, the Circle demanded that she cut the crap and get on with her life. The Circle didn’t help Jenn in the same way. This lack of help angered me to no end. Their friendship is a joy to read, but I wish they had helped Jenn a bit more than making her go to a yoga class. Not to mention, the yoga “Master” is a tool. I’ll let you read the book to see for yourself.

I award Jenn Reinvented 4 out of 5 stars. If you like romantic comedies, my feeling is that you will love the Sweet Water series. The humor borders on teenager territory. If you have or had teenagers, you know their minds reside in the gutter. Well, so do Grayson’s and all his characters. I mean, fart jokes are funny but not very sophisticated. That’s what I love about this series. Perfectly sophisticated people acting like irrational teenagers, and it works. I urge you to go ahead and pick up copies of this series and give them a good read. I promise you won’t regret it. I’m excited to see what’s up for Taylor in the next installment.

I received a complimentary paperback copy of this book with a request for an honest review.

I was excited to read about Jenn’s story after reading Project Kaitlyn last year. There is nothing worse than watching a marriage fail especially when you keep putting unnecessary pressures on yourself as well as your spouse. Jen is her own worst enemy with her take-charge and controlling nature as she decides to have another baby whether her husband, Russ, wants to or not. But ultimately Russ doesn’t want another child and he wants a divorce. There is just so much Jenneral one can take over ten years and be treated like a child instead of an equal. But to be honest, Russ does act like a goofy man-child sometimes. Needless to say, their story is depressing, but in typical Grayson Avery fashion, there are hysterical moments as well.

Yes, I instantly disliked Jenn at first with her overbearing ways. My God, the woman is a bridezilla without the wedding. Her poor husband Russ is so browbeaten and ridiculed, that he overeats to feel better. I understand Jenn feels unwanted and unloved, but dating other men while she’s still married with a child is a little over the top. Several people give Jenn good advice about letting go of perfection and control, but she doesn’t heed it until she finally hits bottom when it’s almost too late. Let’s just say her hilarious grand gesture leads to a satisfying HEA ending with a lovely glimpse into the future.

There are plenty of amazing secondary characters. Jenn’s sister Kait, is a true advocate for Jenn and Russ’s marriage. Jenn’s friends, Shelly and Taylor are supportive with comic relief when desperately needed. Jenn’s ex-boyfriend Joe is sweet and funny but happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time again. And of course, Jenn and Russ’s son Cooper is a bright kid with the best parts of his mom and dad. They all added so much to this book to make it worth reading.

The author does an excellent job describing the frustration of a marriage gone stale and letting go of controlling everything. I highly recommend this important story about what can go wrong in a loving relationship and getting back to what really matters.

Thank you Grayson Avery for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.

Reviewed for Chick Lit Central (www.chicklitcentral.com)

Having read the first book in the Sweet Water Circle series, I couldn’t wait to find out more about Jenn’s experiences. We’re given a glimpse of the discontentment she feels within Project Kaitlyn, but nothing could have prepared me for “The Jenneral” and her Peter Pan-like husband, Russ! I couldn’t help but relate to the situation, having experienced something similar myself in a former life. On the one hand, Jenn feels as though her husband isn’t attracted to her anymore, and is choosing everything else over her. Yet, she isn’t delving deep enough into the situation to find out where his reactions stem from.

At the very beginning, I thought, “She should totally leave Russ.” But through the majority of the story, what I felt the most was compassion for this couple, and at times, heartbreak. We get to know more about Russ as the pages go by, and even through the Peter-Pan exterior lies a man who has had to live his life under The Jenneral’s thumb and has many charming qualities that go unnoticed and under-appreciated. Yet, those same attributes can be said about Jenn, too. And in the center of it all is Cooper, their adorable son.

I really love the dialogue between the characters in Jenn Reinvented. It’s not overly-flowered or fancy. It made me feel like I was right there in the room with the couple, or sitting with the Sweet Water Circle, trying to talk some sense into Jenn while she watches her regimented life slip away from her. And through it all, there is humor. I loved the quips and witty comebacks, the inside jokes that are shared with the reader so they’re in on it, too. It is through the humor where Jenn really shines, trying to navigate a life that might include Russ, someone else, or no one at all.

No matter what, Jenn will always have her Sweet Water Circle, and I think that was my favorite aspect here. The bonds of friendship, and sisterhood. They are going to be there to support her, no matter what, and it made me even more appreciative of the wonderful girlfriends I have in my life, too. I laughed a lot, I even got a little teary-eyed here and there, and ultimately, I felt like I learned a lot about Jenn and Russ, in unexpected ways. I can’t wait for the next book in the series! A well-deserved five-star experience!

The members of the Sweet Water Circle, Shelly, Taylor, Kait, and Jenn, are back at it.

This time the circle focuses on Jenn. Jenn (known as the “Jenneral”) has a strong personality and after 12 years of marriage her husband, Russ, is tired of being a junior partner.

The tipping point for Russ is Jenn’s schedules and charts and PH strips as Jenn thinks having a second baby will fix her marriage.

Russ asks for a divorce and Jenn isn’t quite sure what to think. The circle feels like yoga may help her but the yoga instructor, Todd, wants to do way more with Jenn than just teach her the warrior position.

Jenn also hires an old flame, Joe, to transform the guest room into the baby’s room (even though Jenn isn’t pregnant). Joe is still in love with Jenn and is ready to fan those flames as well.

As the divorce proceedings march on, Jenn must figure out who is the right man for her willful soul.

I’ve read the first book in this series, PROJECT KAITLYN, and really enjoyed it.

This book was definitely filled with the same quick dialogue as the first. This book had spice more so in dialogue than actual descriptive scenes.

This book felt a little more about self actualization and awareness more than just a romcom as Jenn was blindsided that Russ was unhappy in their marriage.

I think that since each circle member has a different personality the tones of the books match the circle member who is the main character.

I will definitely continue the series to see how the next book which is about Taylor flows.

A lot of the jokes went over my head (but that could just be me) in the rom-com by Grayson Avery, “Jenn Reinvented (Part of the Sweet Water Circle Box Set)”, but it was still an enjoyable and effervescent read. The Kittler family was real and adorable. The love was there, but the problems they had appeared to cause the marriage to warp and buckle under the pressures of inequality of power within the relationship. The symptoms which diagnosed the illness were Jen’s sexual frustration, infertility, stress and anxiety; and Russ’s compulsive overeating, fascination with a new female co-worker and his decreased interest in sex with his wife.

Jennifer Colby-Kittler aka “Jenneral” is a take charge kinda gal and her husband, Russ is a joking, big kid. Their marriage evolves into ‘Do as I say. I’m the adult. I know what’s best.’ And of course, Russ, the man child rebels.

The plot was predictable, but the story’s strong suits are the characters and the reflexive nature of what can go wrong in a loving relationship. I liked reading the story and also want to put my two cents in that Joe, a past unrequited love of Jenn’s should have his own story in this series —— Maybe even join the Sweet Water Circle.

Jenn Reinvented by Grayson Avery was a hilariously fun read that kept me completely engaged from cover to cover. The book opened with a glimpse of what has transpired since the close of book one and dives headfirst into the issues and challenges that will consume Jenn in the coming months.

Jenn is a type-A, boss that likes to be in control. But when she is blindsided by her husband she is left winded, with no idea what to do. We see Jenn try to make sense of her new normal while grappling with her instincts to hold tight to her old life to the very end.

Grayson Avery beautifully encapsulated how over time a seemingly happy marriage can disintegrate. Through his portrayal, he ensured that I felt every shock, heartbreak, and despair that Jenn felt. This book made me feel so many different emotions and I was fully invested in Jenn. I needed her to get her happily ever after, in any format that it may come.

Jenn Reinvented is the perfect book to read if you're looking for a book that will not only keep you laughing but will also speak to your heart. It is the perfect blend of humor and emotion. This is the perfect summer read and should definitely pick it up!

Being the second book in The Sweet Water Circle series, I suspected that this story would follow suit with a rom com theme as was the first book, Project Kaitlin. While this story has some humor, it was not so much that but a “real” story of the trials and tribulations that occur in a longtime relationship/marriage. Jenn and Russ have been in a 15 year relationship which turned stale. Jenn is determined to have another baby while Russ is unsure that it’s a good idea.

The author did a great job bringing true feelings to the table which in turn made main characters a bit less desirable. You will go through a whirlwind of emotions and most likely feel frustrated with the choices that these characters make. The grass isn’t always greener on the other side. Can they work through this or call it quits and move on to greener pastures? You will have to read to know for sure.

Jenn was my favorite character from the first book in the series, so I was super excited to find out that her installment would be next. Though I struggled a bit with Project Kaitlyn at times, I'm quickly coming to love the group. This book is a lot more sexual than the first book, but it was such a good read!

The first book was a little more light-hearted than this one, but I still sort of enjoyed this one more. It was funny, emotional, and captivating. Jenn wasn't as likable as she was before at first. She was rather frustrating in all honestly. However, I also truly did sympathize with Jenn; while she was in the wrong, I personally think Russ was as well and just avoided taking some of the responsibility.

I'm kind of torn on the ending of the book. While I'm glad they worked things out between them, I was actually hoping Jenn would take time to better herself and stay single for a while. It just felt a bit unrealistic that they fixed things so suddenly, especially with the book leading up to her letting go and moving on.

This is the second book in the Sweet Water Circle series. This book focuses on goal driven Jenn. She is so in control her friends call her the Jennerial. Jenn’s marriage is falling apart and she needs her friends for help.

Like the first book in this series it is sprinkled heavily with sexual innuendos. What could be a heartbreaking story about the end of a marriage and an inability to get pregnant is lightened up by the writing. I really enjoyed the parts of the book when Jenn’s new dates pick her up at her house, where her soon to be ex husband still lives. Talk about awkward! You will feel a friendship with the Sweet Water Circle that will keep you wanting to read more.

I received an ARC and this is my honest review.
This book is laugh out loud funny but so relatable! Jenn and her husband Russ are struggling to find that spark in their marriage. Jenn likes to be in control of everything so when Russ asks for a divorce , Jenn calls on the sweet water circle to help. They make a plan to help the Jenneral see what is wrong and help her get back to what really matters.
I recommend reading the series in order especially since there are recurring characters. I can't wait to read Taylor's book next!!

2.5 stars rounded up to 3

This book wasn't terrible, but I did have a tough time with it. Jenn was such a terrible person for so long, it made it difficult to forgive her for treating Russ the way she did. I wish she figured things out a little earlier - she was basically begging him to come back and it's hard to believe she would've changed so drastically, so quickly.

***TRIGGER WARNING: LOTS OF TALKING ABOUT SEX ***

I missed the chance to request a copy of Project Kaitlyn, the previous book in the Sweet Water Circle series and that's one I still want to get a copy of since I have heard so much about it.

Jenn Reinvented focuses on Jenn and Russel's relationship. Be warned, there is a lot of talk about sex in this book.

Jenn Reinvented is a lot of things. At times, the story is fast-paced at others it's slow (particularly the beginning).

Overall, I'm not sure what I thought of the characters and I found the ending a little unrealistic.

I am glad for an introduction to this series though and I wish I had a copy of Project Kaitlyn to start the series off.

Grayson Avery's writing style is what I wanted to experience too. It's serious in parts, funny in others.

Thanks to Grayson Avery, Farcical Press and Rachel's Random Resources for my ARC in exchange for an honest and voluntary review.

Jenn and Russ are married with a son, Cooper. From the outside they look like the typical happy family. But deep down, there’s trouble brewing! This is a book that’s fun and exciting, shocking and outlandish! Well, okay, I’m not used to reading books full of curse words and sarcasm. It’s been a joy to read!

Jenn sounds like some I would totally hang out with. I think I’d get along well with her Sweet Water Circle of friends. This group of friends seem very close and extremely supportive of one another. It would be amazing to have such an amazing friendship like these ladies!

Now Russ, aside from the fact that it’s the name of someone I once dated, he seems like a man who’s tired of being trampled on and just wants to do his own thing here and there. Poor guy, all he wanted was to play in his band with his friends when Jenn would refuse to let him!

This isn’t my typical genre. I’m starting to think it should be! I literally laughed out loud and probably snorted a few times as well! There’s tons of talk about sex, or references to sex, boners, and a ton of telling Cooper they’ll explain someday.

Thank you to Farcical Press and Rachel’s Random Resources for access to this title. I give this book 5 out of 5 tiaras because it was so entertaining mixed with the drama that Jenn and Russ finds themselves in. I mean, wow, what a whirlwind!

This is the second book in the 'Sweet Water Circle' Series and concentrates on Kait's sister Jenn. Now this story is told over the course of 38 chapters which is a little bit longer than the first book in this series.
Jenn's story is alot different from her sisters, not only because they are at different points in their life. But mainly because this story will leave readers both weeping while grabbing for tissue and the next minute they will be giggling their hearts out. The story is full of moments that tug at the heart strings, while the next moment will leave the reader giggling at the relatable events happening in Jenn's life.
From the very beginning of this book, the story starts strong immediately getting readers intrigued in Jenn's life and her struggles. It grabs the readers attention, to the point readers will find it hard to put down. It is addictive, not only the storyline but the characters as well. Every reader will be able to find a character they can relate to or they know someone who is like them.
One of the best things about this series, is although the main focus in this book is Jenn and her journey. Readers do get a chance to catch up with Kaitlyn and Hunter from book one. Also characters such as Taylor and Shelly make a return appearance.
Overall this book will leave you unwilling to wait to get your hands on the third installment in this series. Readers will be unable to put this down and spend the entire time weeping or crying. Either one will leave them wanting more from this author.

When calling the shots is pushing love away…

Jennifer Colby – Kittler is used on commanding her husband Russ around. So when she starts to notice that the passion they once had, is diminishing, she makes a plan to fix everything. And that plan consists of having a second child.
No matter what Russ thinks, that baby is going to come. But tensions only grow when the pregnancy doesn’t come as quickly as Jenn wants.
Things escalate to a point of no return…
So Jenn’s sister Kait and the rest of Sweet Water Circle plan an intervention, showing Jenn that being in control of everything is not the solution, and make Jenn even start taking Yoga classes.
Slowly Jenn learns to let go, but she finds herself also on the receiving side of the attention of the Yoga Guru. But also Joe, an ex – boyfriend is ready to fight for her affections…
Which course will the new, reinvented Jenn take? Is her marriage still worth the fight? Or will she find love elsewhere?

Firstly, I have to say I absolutely loved the first book of the Sweet Water Circle Series, so I was very eager to read this next adventure!
Where Kait was the kind of character you quickly took a liking to, Jenn is a harder nut to crack… She likes to be in control of just *everything*  and her nickname “Jenneral” is not stolen…
So I can honestly say that she got even me on my nerves. And I was just a reader, not the receiver of her commands.
I can understand her passion in a way, but there is a limit to everything. And I somehow was glad when even Russ decided he had enough of it all.

Russ is honestly a good guy, but he just couldn’t go on living like this anymore. Like he said it himself, he doesn’t want to be a junior partner in a relation, but wants to be on the same level. And isn’t that something everyone wants in a relation with the person they love?

Russ leaving her, yet not literally leaving the house, is cause for so many hilarious moments for us readers. Of course, for both Jenn and Russ those moments were just utterly frustrating! Because they are just both so stubborn, not willing to give each other an inch!

However, Jenn, thanks with the help of her sister and best friends, learns slowly to let go of control, giving her new opportunities. But also in awkward situations, making me nearly cry of laughter!
But Jenn also comes to the realization of how badly she was treating Russ and that it was her fault he decided he needed an out…

A special mention is for Cooper, Jenn and Russ’ son. His desire for a pet, and the kind of animals he would come up with, just HILARIOUS!!! Let’s admit, doesn’t everyone want a dolphin as a pet??? But Cooper was also just adorable, even when he finds himself in the middle of a fight between his parents.

Yes, I had many laughs in this book, but it also shows us the consequences of our behaviour on our loved ones. The author managed perfectly to capture the desperation, if we can call it like that, when someone is reaching his limits, seeing no other option than just walking away.
However the author shows us also that even as adults, we can change for the better. Not wanting to control everything in our lives, can bring us that what we desire the most, in the most unexpected way.

I received an ARC from Hidden Gems and the author and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

I read the previous book in the series, Project Kaitlyn, as an ARC and absolutely loved it. So when the opportunity came up to read the next book I didn’t hesitate to grab it up. This one is has a totally different set of circumstances which make sense because the main character Jenn is an entirely different situation than we found Kaitlyn in the prior book.

The author writes a very compelling story that keeps the readers interest and keeps you guessing what may happen next, but I really struggled to like Jenn or her husband Russ. Part of that is because neither of these characters are in a good place in their marriage and the author really does a great job with defining who Jenn is and the chaos her life has become. There are moments of intense humor and for me several cringe-worthy situations when I was reminded a little too strongly of what I experienced in my own divorce.

So while this may come across as a not so positive review, it really isn’t intended to be negative. The author is extremely talented and did a great job with the story he intended to write based on the author notes at the end (and it wasn’t easy). This just isn’t a fun loving and happy story until the very last chapter or so.

If you are interested in a relationship story that delves into the heart of a marriage that is on life support and both spouses have dug in their heels to battle it out. This isn’t exactly a romance, even though it has romantic elements/scenes.

I’m curious what the author is going to bring us next with Taylor who lives her life without a filter.
