Copper Saddle Distillery #1

Inherit the Gin : A murder-free novella

Rate this book
A distillery town in Kentucky. An inheritance from a total stranger. Thirty days to figure her connection to the deceased.

Peg Townsend has just been named benefactor in a Hogshead, Kentucky man’s will, and the timing couldn’t be better. Six months ago, she lost her job, and now she’s running out of money. Selling off the inheritance could go a long way in rebuilding her life. There’s only one in order to receive the estate, she must find her connection to the deceased. And she has 30 days to do it.

As she searches for answers, she falls in love with the small town charm and the endearing people who live there. Unfortunately, no one else seems to know why she’s there either—including the prudish librarian and the handsome distiller, who isn’t exactly thrilled with her arrival.

To make matters worse, an unexpected job offer disrupts her search before it gets started, leaving her less than a week to decide between the job of her dreams or her new life in Hogshead.

This was a fun first book in what looks like it'll be a cute little series for anyone not liking murder. I actually do like cozies with murder, but this one was very good even without it. I got so caught up in the mystery of Peg trying to figure out what connection she had to the man she inherited from that it didn't really matter what kind of mystery it was.

There was such a cool twist at the end, and I really enjoyed getting to know Peg, Callie, Marge and Gus, and yep, even old Hank wasn't so bad after all. I borrowed this on KU when I'd grabbed the second book offered free on Amazon recently. I do recommend you read in order so you'll get the full effect of Peg's first investigation! ;)

This was a great intro to a series I want to read. The main character is over 50! Intelligent but still figuring out a few things and comfortable in her skin! She gets dumped into a situation at the perfect time and the chase is on as you follow her story inheriting a distillery! Only downside - there was no gin in this book! However I might just try bourbon after the cocktail recipe in the book!

This is the first book in a new series. Its a refreshing cozy mystery as there is no killings, but an actual mystery to solve.

I read the second book first as I received a free copy, but recommend reading this one first.
