I bought a new book for the boys and I agreed to read it twice tonight tearing up both times. I love how different my boys are, I've loved every phase and every quirk. This book celebrated everything different about them and made it beautiful. My biggest wish is for my boys to never doubt the love and acceptance at home, and my hope is that they will not be hurt by those who are afraid of their own shadow. If you need a good, beautiful book to read to your kids or grandkids I'd highly recommend My Shadow is Pink, it's lovely.

And if your boy loves Elsa and dresses and isn't afraid, this book is for you too. Open arms and open hearts. 🏳️‍🌈

I wish this book had existed when I was a child. This book helps break down gender stereotypes that are both toxic and outdated.

I love the way the author relates a universal matter to all children helping them understand that color has no gender. He also helps them to realize that toys shouldn't be used to enforce gender roles. If a child wants to play with a doll or a truck it really shouldn't matter they should be allowed to explore and understand who they are without judgment. Excellent book and read.

i wszystkie chłopaki

One of my five year old sons favourite books. He received it as a gift for his birthday and I’m so glad he did, because it’s a beautiful way of exploring a child’s feelings though the medium of words and pictures.

The lead character, though we never know his name, has a pink shadow. His dad has a blue shadow, and he worries about his little boy. The story shows them coming together and bonding over their differences. This is a truly enlightening book about accepting individuality and a must have for any child’s bookshelf.

No one else had a problem with this one? My boys caught on quickly that the shadows were representing true selves. They understood the main character was the only one with a pink shadow. But they kept wanting to know (as did I) WHY they were the only one with a pink shadow. Why did everyone else have a blue shadow? Why was there only one girl at school? Why did she have a blue shadow (which is fine, but really highlighted the fact there was only one pink shadow in the book)? Why were there only two colors of shadow? Why was everyone supposed to be either blue or pink? I love the spirit of the book. My oldest is really into pink and sparkles and I was hoping this would speak to him. But it left more questions than it answered.

I thought this was a lovely, child-friendly exploration of gender identity and self-acceptance. Not sure I like the pink/blue dichotomy, because it did feel like it was reinforcing the gender binary and thus undermining the central thesis of the text. But nevertheless, quite a sweet read.

An important book about how we're all different and that it's a good thing. I appreciated that the text rhymed as well. It added another layer to the reading experience.

Not rating this one, but in scrolling through reels the author read the whole book and I stuck around. The art was engaging, the attempted message felt a little clunky even tho the heart was in the right place. Not sure the age of the intended child this was meant for, but it's probably a cute enough time for any child with a decent attention span as this did feel on the wordier end of picture books.

I believe watching Scott Stuart read this book on TikTok counts as an audio book.

It's really adorable. I worked an LGBT+ awareness event today, which had this book on display, so I got to have a proper look at the pictures and they're really well drawn, and put together.

Very sweet story.
