After breaking open a sinister secret and deserting DefenseCorp, Sever Squad's been invited back, providing they give up the little girl they've sworn to protect.
Going home isn't easy, but Sever needs new gear, medical attention, and a hot meal after their fight on Wexer. At first, the Nautilus brings back memories, from familiar faces to friendly concourses. It's almost enough to let Sever relax.
Almost.
When the Sever squad members find themselves separated and picked off by DefenseCorp's shadowy arm, what had started as a chance to heal turns into a frantic fight for survival, not just for themselves, but for the thousands onboard the Nautilus that might be sacrificed so Sever's enemies can get what they want:
I spin stories in a frosty house in Madison, WI, primarily owned by a pair of cats. After getting sucked into the working grind in the economic crash of the 2008, I found myself spending boring meetings soaring through space and going on grand adventures.
Eventually, spending time with podcasting, screenplays, short stories and other novels, I found a story I could fall into and a cast of characters both entertaining and full of heart. That story became Wild Nines, and eventually became a trilogy.
I've got a basket, maybe even a barrel of ideas for more stories coming after these, so if you'd like to see what I'm scribing, feel free to visit me at adamrknight.com or sign up for my newsletter at http://bit.ly/bkbnewswn.
This book had a lot of action. I had to start over from the beginning after getting three quarters of the way through because I was confused by the constant shift in perspective: each chapter featured one or two of the squad members’ views. The other confusing part was Aurora’s flashbacks. There is no change in font or other indicators that they are flashbacks — and they occur on the same ship where the action happens!
