The story of a 17 year old sentenced to life in the Missouri Department of Corrections. The hardships he had to endure . The stories he tells of life in prison and his release after 29 years
Captivating story. It's raw, but bearable because the respect comes through in the writing. It needs editing, but the tale told is much worth the journey.
Congratulations to the author for his freedom. I, for one, am grateful for his willingness to share his story. Such a long, long road. I'm glad to have had the opportunity to have read about it.
I started reading this right before cleaning my house earlier today, intending to spend only a few minutes to procrastinate. I became so absorbed in the story that I ended up reading the entire book in a couple of hours. This is a very real and raw perspective on life behind bars that paints a vivid picture of how a long term sentence affects prisoners. This author allows the reader a glimpse into their own thoughts and their memories as a convict. I truly appreciate the author for sharing his experience; I was captivated from beginning to end.
I enjoyed this work. The author tells his story as if it were a conversation rather than a book. He has a good sense of humor, too. When I got to the section where he was released it made the whole read worthwhile. Thanks for sharing your story with us.
An important memoir written by a formerly incarcerated man who served live with parole in Missouri’s department of corrections. If you read this, be prepared for a book likely self published (I got through Kindle Unlimited) that needs a STRONG edit, both for content and clarity. There are spelling errors abound and some parts are highly repetitive. Does it matter? Not really. Better to read past it and understand Harvey Seidel’s lived experience in our state’s prison system.
If you want to read a story about true life I’m prison this one is it. I read Harvey’s story after touring the Missouri State Penitentiary and so it really hit home what this place was like but, man, what he went through!
What a great book, the hard facts of prison life. How to handle slot of every days things that are so different than life on the street. Never once did he feel sorry for himself and always took responsibility for his actions.
I simply love to read true stories from real people. Mr. Seidel, I found your book interesting without any dull moments. You're straight and to the point. This book kept my interest throughout.
I loved the story, as I can somewhat relate to it. The grammar mistakes and general errors were a little frustrating and the story flow was a little choppy. That being said, I would definitely read another book by Harvey Seidel. Stay safe on the outside, my man!
Engrossing. There were typos but I didn’t care. Worth a read. I’m not particularly or especially interested in prison-themed books, but this caught my eye and I couldn’t put it down.
