I'm just going to say it. Peace is the worst superpower...
Luke Trellis is Lord Peace, also known as Puking Peace. And no, he doesn't love the nickname any more than he loves the power. His siblings have psychic powers that let them travel through time, control the elements, and make billions of dollars.

Luke's just Peace. Boring, non-sexy Peace.

When a friend goes missing, Luke will make his way into the shifter community to rescue her.

And, to the shifters, Peace is anything but boring. Shifter bonds of power, family, and love are like nothing Luke's ever seen.

Ransom is the first book in the complete Peacekeeper’s Harmony series of psychic shifter romance novels.

Better than I expected. I thought Peace was going to get dragged away from his family for his own adventure. Nice to see that wasn't the case and the family didn't become cameos. essentially, it was a straight continuation from the circle with everyone expecting divided loyalties from Peace/Peacekeeper.

Candy sucked, but the in between was interesting with Other Luke. The family continues to get bigger with their own relationships going steady. Felt sorry for Luke's loved ones though. Nightmares for all, and maybe a halloween joke as a dullahan. Might be too soon. It was more fun than expected with things just as close as always.

Not a stand alone, should be read after its original series

I'm rating this based on how I read it, without knowing anything about the world this was part of.

This is not a book that you can pick up without reading the other series first. I didn't know it was a side series until it was clear I was missing a ton of information required to understand references to things that were actually quite important. Some authors do a good job of recognizing this and compensating for it. It wasn't true in this case.

It wasn't a terrible book, though. I think it would've been better if I knew what I needed to know, maybe three stars. I'm not really interested enough to read the other series and continue this one. I wasn't really connecting with Luke or Sianna. The rest of the characters were just annoying and rude.

I didn't like how Luke was treated by anyone in this book. His family was awful. Sianna was awful. And he was a doormat. He whined too much and overall behaved like a child, not an adult. He did nothing to redeem himself.

The structure of the book was fun, though. Starting with the end and then getting to it. The pace was decent, didn't feel like a long book. I think a lot of other people would enjoy this, especially if they read it in order, but it's a bit mellow for me.

Why let a story be read with no ending?

This was a good story until there was no ending. Basically in the middle of a thought the story ends.

Lucas is the featured brother, although everyone else in their circle makes an appearance at one time or another. Lots of action in this book.

Jen is an enigma for me as she obviously is a very high ranking supernatural being of some sort yet worked for the Trellis family for years before outing herself. We found out in an earlier volume that she intended to wipe them out but the love they share had her changing her mind. They welcome her back into the fold without reservation.

Why is Ellie’s grandfather part of the animal adjacent council yet Ellie is scorned? Jen shows up there also. That gal gets around...

I feel sorry for Luke the way I did for Sam. They both are forced into positions that they may not want to be in. It seems Sam has adjusted but I still don’t like the method used. It’s like being thrown into the water and told to sink or swim. They have to learn as they go which I find unfair.

Have been waiting for this book since I finished the first 6 and it did not disappoint. Husband went to bed at 1130 last night, but I was not tired so I started Ransom. Devoured it in one sitting and was done at 3am. LOVED it. Maggie Lily's books are great and continue to get even better. The readability is excellent - written at a level that is easy to understand, yet still feels like it's for an adult (I.e. not dumbed-down language).
The only thing that threw me a little was the switch between narrators at the end; the other books have had this too, but this one was all Luke's POV until the very very last chapters so it caught me off guard and I had to check the chapter titles to make sure I knew whose "voice" I was reading. (That struggle was likely due to me being awake so late! Lol).
Highly recommend this book. Could be read as a standalone but benefits greatly if you start with the Circle books.

I really liked many of the concepts in this first instalment of the Building the Circle spin-off, but there were also elements of the way it's written that just didn't work for me.

For example, I'd forgotten that the way the Trellis brothers sometimes treat each other really rubs me the wrong way. I know we're supposed to see it as them joking around with each other, but I often find that it lands more like bullying and borderline abusive behaviour that just isn't OK for me. And while I loved Sam as a character in the first couple of BtC books, I haven't enjoyed him nearly as much since he had his own story.

Still, I like the worldbuilding around shifter (sorry, beast affinity) society, and I suspect I'm going to enjoy Luke and Sianna turning it on its head. And it was exactly the kind of lighthearted read I'm drawn to right now, so I'm happy to go straight onto Book 2 and see where it develops from here.

Ransom: A Psychic Shifter Paranormal Romance (Peacekeeper's Harmony Book 📖 1)

I love ❤️ the Trellis family !! I especially love 💕 all of them… I am so loving 🥰 Luke and Sianna definitely a hot🔥 couple ….This book has shifters/beasts a ton of snarky dialogue, so many different eccentric habits, I love ❤️ love 💗 the Sunday dinners-I want to be invited to them, and be around them…. The family has so much magnitude of world altering power between them all, so much love, and romance within the whole family. Staring with the parents all the way down to each child they have raised into incredible adults. I am so glad this series in completed I do not think I could’ve been patient enough to wait…
Well onto book 2.. at 10:30 at night. SMH 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ what are you waiting for to read this series ??

I cannot recommend this book and all of the books 📚 prior to this or this author Maggie enough!!! Wish I could give a 100 stars.. it’s that spectacular.

First of all, it’s probably better if you have read the "Building the Circle" series first to understand the Trellis family dynamics.
That being said, I am glad to finally get Luke's story. I always kind of felt sorry for him within the family "hierarchy". Unbeknownst to him, he isn't only "puking Peace" but royalty of sorts to those with a beast affinity (do not call them shapeshifters!). The two "clans" don't really get along, so it will be a struggle if he accepts his new role as Peacekeeper to the beast affinity people. Can he bridge the two and still stand a circle as Peace with his family or will something have to give? When he goes in to save some friends, he comes out with all sorts of new problems he was not really prepared for including losing his head! Can Peace and the Trellis family hold strong? Can't wait for Book2.

Well, this took a sharp turn. As in I managed to read "The Call" (the first novel of the main series, where there's hardly any supernatural at all) and then accidentally read this, WITHOUT REALISING THESE WERE SET IN THE SAME WORLD. Simply because the word-setting development is so freaking drastically different.
I thought the fact that the surname was the same was weird, but I didn't even notice all other names were the same because of how different all the characters were acting and how different everything was.
I sent myself for a loop and it's my fault, true. I practically spoiled the whole main series for myself and now I don't know how I feel about it, because these two books are just worlds apart and feel it extremely weird.

My favorite series of 2024, continued!

This series follows the books of "Building the Circle", and it's fabulous! The stories are unique, interesting, and riveting. The characters, and there are A LOT of them, with 11 people in the original family and their friends and significant others joining in, are each unique and defined individuals with personalities of their own. Quite possibly my favorite parts of the book are simply the dialog between characters. Nobody can kid around and embarrass you more than family! It'll make you laugh out loud, and other times you'll be riveted to the action. There's even a bit of heat in there! In other words, these stories have everything that defines a good book.. I can't wait to continue reading. Long live the Trellis family!

I wondered what this author was going to do about Luke, since the Building series left him as the only “single” sibling. You think he’s paired with Candy, but the last book of the Building series showed that they weren’t really a serious relationship. This book starts with the holiday season, right before Christmas. The whole timeline of this book is really only a week or 2 but it doesn’t feel like it since there’s so much going on. It ends on a cliffhanger though, but I didn’t mind because I just jumped right into Reaping.

Peace or Peacekeeper??

This book was full of twists and turns…Luke does not believe he can feel or inspire “big” emotions…there is only peace. Luke will have this theory tested and will find out the truth…is he with his family or with the beasts? Can he bring peace or will it destroy him and and those he loves?
Luke will find out some answers…but at what cost? Such a fantastic read!!! Cannot recommend this book or this author enough!!!

I love this family! Lily's first few installments sucked me right into the family dynamics. Nothing really was clear plot-wise until the third book but by then i was hooked. Had to read them all... I would rate Lily's writing overall as a 2.5 or so but for her creativity in the Trellis family I'd give her a 4. Original characters, dynamic storyline (although there were lots of things not wrapped up), and great pacing. Sorry there aren't more to read.

Story line is good even though it took me a bit to get into it. After reading all 3 books in the series, I would have preferred to have it all as one big book instead of 2 cliffhangers and the finale. Books 1 & 2 pretty much just end. Books 2 & 3 pick up where the prior story left off. As long as you read back to back, you'll be fine. I recommend you read the Building The Circle series first as it lays the foundation for the characters in this one.

Still loving this family

This book was a lot of fun to read, the family is quirky and often make me laugh. The cliff hanger at the end of the book was a surprise but going on Maggie’s blog revealed a little more. If you haven’t read The Call start there. It’s a wonderful series.

Readable

I am a new reader to this world.
This book is a slow burn - even conskdering that it all takes place with a week. Around the middle of the way through I started to care and want to know what was going to happen - at the end I decided that yes, I do want to read the next book.

So Freaking Good!

Ms Lily continues the awesome adventure of the Trellis family and I am so grateful! The story picks right up from where the last book ended with the focus on Lucus, the Peacekeeper. The humor is hilarious and the action is thrilling. I am addicted to this series and highly recommend it.

A wonderful, confusing tale that begins a series

So much I don’t understand about the world created here. This story is short on explanations and filled with atmosphere. The Trellis family is amazing and forms the foundation for Lucas to be and become who he is meant to be. Excellent writing.

3.5 Stars. I must say, I stayed in a chaotic trance throughout the entire book. Definitely fun, but so much going on. Completely, completely lost as to the why of the story. Definitely missing pieces, but laughed a lot. Out loud. Peacekeeper’s brothers are strong, but the women are bada$$. Lots of questions I hope I can find answers to in Reaping.

So good!

When i first started reading these books, I didn’t know what to expect. 7 books and one novella later, I’m hooked. I love the family so much. I want to be a part of their family! Ransom lived up to my expectations, and gave me more! Can’t wait for the next one.

This book was part of a VERY exciting series. The books were about a family that had special gifts. The stories were very funny and full of love. I laughed, I cried, I re-read the whole series multiple times. :-)

Loving Luke’s story!! And the inclusion of shifters. Looking forward to the rest of the take and seeing how the Trellis family and friends bring co-existence with the shifters and empowered. They are not like the selfish beings of old.

Poor Lucas...it feels as if no matter what, he gets the short end of the stick. From is rotten nickname to either Peace or Peacemaker. It seems like he can't win. The energies are not alining.

I enjoyed this—the mythology is different and I liked the characters. I thought it was the first book in the series, though, and in fact there are like a half dozen books that precede it. It was very hard to keep track of all the characters. I know big families are great for series, but nine kids is a hell of a lot.

I don't know if the author has been bullied or is a huge bully herself. This family doesn't like each other, much less love each other. I barely got through the first series. I wanted to know how it ended. I can not!! DNF'd

Hmm - an interesting read, if character confusing on occasion.

The interaction and mingling of different paranormals was novel and very enjoyable. I may continue the series. Why 3 stars?
