I’m rounding up. It was a solid 3 for much of the series for me. There was a lot of action but I was so frustrated with all the many different ways the main characters were kept away from each other. It was just one thing after another and I was getting very frustrated. Also, the side love stories could have been spin offs. However, I need Simon and her brother to get together!!!! How can they go years without seeing each other?? I need another update please.

Okay, for the people that want a real review. Luo Yi, who becomes Roman halfway through the story, is a vampire. (I’m so bothered by names but this one wasn’t a variation it just switched to the English version half way through. Lol. Or another name…possibly??? I honestly have so many questions.) He starts by bullying then forcing Xiaoxin, female lead, into becoming his blood servant. She does it because she is an orphan who is taking care of her younger brother and has no choice. We later discover she is the chosen one. Literally. Bleh. Like honestly, out of no where. Things just happen here. She is not only born from a slayer society but is also a white witch. **Which is never, EVER addressed. Was it to protect them? We’re they taken? Was it to weaken the society? ZERO answers.** Stuff happens. There’s talk of peace. More stuff happens. Both main characters have crazy stalker wanna be lovers. Mind you they were never given any love back but crazy people do what crazy people do I guess. Ugh. This happened to Simon as well. Moving on. More back stabbing. More spying and murder. Many explosions and stab wounds later. These two are starting a revolution with their love. **if you read this in a sarcastic tone, you’d be correct.** Can a vampire and a human/slayer/spy/witch make it work? Well, I gave it the high rating because it was entertaining. Also, by this point I was invested. It’s like 200 chapters long. It took me days to read!!! There was so much story. And I was here for it.

There were also many unanswered questions. What the ever loving ish happens to the villain Was he even the true villain behind everything? Or was he just a spy/double agent???? Will there be a spin off that tells me this?? Also, in the future take there is a high risk pregnancy what happens to them?? And then their kids in the future!!!! There was so much.

Anyways, if you’re willing to read something that leaves huge gaping holes in the plot at the end. Well, not huge, but noticeable. Ugh. If you’re okay with this and want to read a drama filled Slayer story this is the one for you. Honestly, it was pretty great. It just left me wanting more. I need closure.

WHAT???

★★★★
[4 stars]

At the beginning of this book, I hated every single character and I disliked how the plot was lying out to be. So this rating is for the whole manhwa. If you want a rating for each season (because they we’re definitely really spaced out) here you go!

Season 1: ★★☆
Season 2: ★★★☆
Season 3: ★★★★☆

This book is basically about a vampire named Yuo Li (whose name changes to Roman midway through) and a human named Xiaoshen falling in love. There is also a bunch of vampire politics and issues that I loved! (idk… I just like coming up with solutions in my head and seeing if it’d help.)

For season 1, it felt like a guilty pleasure. Again, I didn’t like any character in there. In my opinion, the main character was annoying and weak, like a typical girl. The male lead was basically sexually assaulting her. This means biting her without her permission and ordering her to do things like taking off her clothes as a punishment, etc. This really bothered me. I know it’s supposed to be a vampire world with blood servants that obey them, so this could be normal in their universe.

I had very mixed feelings about the male lead, Yuo Li. He would sexually assault her and then save her and make me feel all giggly. Like… I would be smiling at him saving her and then remembering all the times he sexually assaulted her and was like “yeah. you’re done.”

If he wasn’t bare minimum, he was under the bar. But I think these issues aren’t really talked about because he’s hot.

In season 2, he definitely got character development. By this I mean that he just became the bare minimum… wow!! But then after after that, he finally became an actual likeable character!! YAY!

Also, this season is where many more characters are introduced and I actually start liking people. Also, the main character also gets character development and stops acting like a weak baby. YAY.

The writing definitely got better in this season and I loved the politics.

Season 3. MY BABY.

I absolutely loved this season. This was when everyone was getting real good. The last 10 chapters before it ended had my whole heart.

For the ending, I loved how the author gave us everyone’s ending. We got closure on the villains and how their lives are now, we got closure on *everyone* and they were all concluded in the finale.

For me, while reading, I thought everything was really dragged out and had slow pacing. I feel like in the early seasons (1 - 2) , you could really just delete a few episodes and absolutely nothing would change.

When season 3 started, it felt like the author was too attached to the manhwa to end it. But then after getting midway through it, I realized that so much was still not uncovered and that this season was needed. (It also became my favourite season of you couldn’t tell already.)

In the end, I just wanted to say that… if you are a survivor of rape and are really sensitive with the topic, you will not like the romance in this book. Also, if you dislike slow paced book and struggle with getting through them, this is not the book for you!

If you love politics shown in books, epic battle scenes, many characters to gush over, and 190 sweet episodes of a manhwa… THIS IS IT!!

This story is half love and half hate for me. So, let me unpack that a bit.

I first read this series when I was about 13 years old and in hindsight I remember having had quite a few problems with it even back then. I read it til chapter 150 or so online and then abandoned it (don't know why I did that, after all that was when it was actually *really* good). Now, a few years later, I am rereading it and... it's a roller coaster, to say the least. In the beginning, none of the characters are really likeable (except for Xin, maybe) and it kinda stays that way until the third book. The ml is especially throughout the first two books (sexually) harassing the fl, right in the beginning he tells the whole school to bully her (which they follow, becuase of reasons I didn't quite grasp) and when the bullying gets so bad that she nearly DIES he 'saves' her and makes her his blood servant. Entirely against her will, by the way (something that will be a constant) because she hates vampires, due to them having killed her parents. She still doesn't do anything against it though because her brother is sick and has a weak heart, which feels like a really major thing in the first (two) books, but then kinda gets abandoned halfway through (as far as I remember at least, currently done with the third book). Now a brief summary of everything that is bad and good about book one and two before I'll talk about the third book.

In book one and two ml kisses and drinks fls blood really often against her will and at one point full on rapes her. Consent is written in this series so small that the writers seem to have overseen it when signing the contract. Our fl develops major stockholm syndrome and ml shows especially in the beginning traits of a narcissistic personality disorder (entitled, Interpersonally exploitative for his own gain, arrogant), which could be due to the vamp-human societal hierarchy, in which vampires are far above humans and the leading upper class. Now onto the thing that bugged me most (next to the rape): after the dub-/non-con kissing he asks her at one point what they were, which was for me personally just a "What the fuck!?" moment, becuase what does he mean with 'What are we?', like dude, she literally said 'no' whenever you tried to make a move on her!

Onto the good parts now. Something that really stood out to me about them as a couple is the trust that they have in each other, it happens so often when reading books that the LIs don't tell each other shit, which then leads to the third act conflict/breakup, simply because when it came out it was already to late. Now this happened in the second book:
The next good thing is that they really do love each other (not that that would make the raping any better). You can see that they do through actions, words, and thoughts.

In summary here: We have extreme dub-/non-con, power play, and multiple psychological problems.
On the bright side though, they trust each other and they love each other. On the even brighter side, it gets better from here on.

So, as promised, let's talk about the third part. It starts off super cute. At least that's what I thought, but turns out after looking through it for a moment that I mixed up the story (I am to lazy to rewrite all of the upper part of this. The rape happens in this book, he gains her tust back after that and *then* it gets super cute. They have a cottge from half to three quarters of the book. They are happy.

From here on I have to rely on the things I remember from the first time reading it and the little flipping through the pages I did the other day. I'd lie if I said I remember uch from what comes next, but it's basically a situation where they go from enemies to lovers to enemies to lovers and so on and so forth.

In complete this series is generally a lot of fun to read if you like drama, vampires, and a thrilling love story. It felt like a few character where LGBTQ+ and I'd say there was casual representation (ml's brother and another vampire, Xin and fls brother). If you'e a whump fan like me, you'll probably enjoy quite a few of the scenes, becuase there is whump at least twice(?) per book. However, if you experienced SA then you should be aware that this happens a lot in the series.

Personally, I really enjoyed it a lot, during both reads, but because I wanted to punch the ml really often, it'll only get 4 stars from me.

Also they changed mls name halfway through the series which I hated.

Edit: Done with the fourth book, didn't get muc better, he raped her again and I had to knock my rating down by one star.

Vampire Romantasy mit enemies-to-lovers? Genau mein Geschmack.

This book was a mess, an entertaining mess, but a mess none the less. She becomes a blood slave against her will. She hates vampires because they killed her parents. Eventually, you find out their families have histories together even they didn't know about. Roman is a candidate to become a powerful elder, but his brother and many other vampires plot against him for one reason or another.

This story definitely suffers from stockholm syndrome on the woman's part. Roman is a huge douche waffle to her for a long time, but he's nice randomly and saves her and that means that she likes him? Sure, ok. He was very pushy about their relationship, from being a blood servant to being his girlfriend - it was his way or the highway.
Even after they spend a couple years apart where they supposedly hate each other, as soon as they're together again, it's all water under the bridge, all is forgiven for another chance at love? I'm sorry, but if I was betrayed and left for dead, there's no coming back from that.
Then all the political problems just get wrapped up with a couple chapters to get in a nice bow is completely ridiculous. People that hurt Roman and are wanted criminals are just not looked for because they helped miss damsel in distress.
She was annoying on her own. She tried so hard to be tough, but got kidnapped, beat up, poisoned about every week.
I kept reading toward the end because I wanted to see where the story went, but now that I've finished it, I don't think it was worth my time.

Dropped upon reading the first chapter ☺

ML:
I want to slap and beat the sh1t out of the ml a thousand times. Using his "trust issues" as an excuse to kidnap a girl and bully her in front of the entire school was not bad enough. Even making her his blood servant, torturing her and sexually harassing her. 💀💀💀💀💀💀

FL:
I want to slap and beat the sh1t out of the fl as well. I read the spoilers saying that later she falls in love with the ml ☺. A really dumb damsel in distress. 💀💀💀. She keeps on spouting that she wants to save her brother and support him but has shown no signs of action. She is stupid, doesnt even raise her fist. 😃😃😃 Her parents got killed because of vampires but she still forgives them. Cause she is an average-plain dumb forgiving fl. 🥺

OVERALL:
I like a story which has an obsessive ml only if the fl is strong. I don't know why torturing and abusing someone is considered "normal" in chinese manhuas. 😃😃
If only i could give it a 0.5 star cause 1 star seems too good for this. 💀💀💀💀💀💀💀

This is a pretty clean vampire romance. There's some featureless nudity and kissing but nothing more is shown. The beginning of the relationship is very unhealthy with the male MC being possessive and abusive. When the MCs finally settle down and get to a healthier relationship, the story is more enjoyable. There is a lot of great world building and I feel like there could be some fabulous spinoffs. There is also some LGBTQ representation in the main side characters. Overall, it was a fun read.

That's all folks.

Wow. Have I really finished this series? I can't believe it. If I had stopped at season 1 and never took it up again this manhua would've become one of the worst stories I'd ever read. It was really bad. And well, I obviously kept on reading.
Then season 2 came around and it seemed just a slightly better version of season 1, but then it got better, and then better and I ended up invested again. My favorite characters kept on being awesome (I love you Xin, the best from start to finish), while those I had hated became bearable and sometimes even good.
Season 3 was just good. It didn't blow me away, but it was a well-structured narrative that did make me feel what it was supposed to make me feel, unlike season 1. And then came the end.
Yes I would've liked something more from the open threads left by the side stories, but I'm pretty satisfied as to where all the major characters ended up.
And that's it. The end.
Bye bye Sweet Bite Marks
You really were hard to read
