Case Lee #7

The Nevada Job

Rate this book
A global battle for the world’s most precious material. Deadly events swirl under the watchful eyes of spies and a ruthless billionaire.
With thousands of lives at stake, a reluctant Case Lee enters the scene.

Never bet against the little guy.

It was a low-key investigation. Until signals flared that danger lay ahead with people’s lives a throw-away commodity. It started in Bolivia’s Chaco region. A vast lawless area where life is cheap and raw power rules the roost. As the search for rare elements heats up, Case runs into spies and mercenaries and a village living in terror. While he’s no superhero, no caped crusader, Case Lee knows he can’t walk away. With so many lives at stake, he flips the switch and brings special skills to the table. Very special skills.

The trail leads back to the Nevada wildlands. The billionaire tycoon now knows the individual responsible for disrupting his global operations and paints a target on Case’s back, aided by corrupt politicians and dirty cops. Meanwhile, spies lurk in the background. Whose side are they on?

Word quickly spreads among his former Delta teammates, who arrive and lend a hand. Outnumbered and outgunned, with powerful forces allied against them, they make a stand. With no quarter asked. Or given.

To tell a good tale.

It’s a simple and valid answer when the question pops up, “Why do you write?”

At the end of the day, it is to tell a good tale.

Vince Milam has lived all over the world, traipsing through the Amazon, Congo, and Papua New Guinea—all the while demonstrating bourbon has medicinal qualities. Raised in Texas, he lives in the mountainous West where he proves—annually—that God doesn’t want us driving on snow. He relishes great reads, fine trout streams, family, old friends, and—especially—writing fast-paced thrillers that keep you up at night.

‘Support was a continent away’

Idaho author Vince Milam retains as much mystery about his background as he imbues in his supernatural mystery thrillers. From his resume, only the following offers a few facts: ` I live in the Intermountain West where soaring mountains and vast high deserts give a person plenty of room to think. I've lived and worked in over twenty-five countries around the globe, am a certified Wellness Coach, have a coterie of dear friends and family that provide succor and support, and have an old dog that is also a best buddy. I have an affinity for characters of all stripes, and strive to bring out the uniqueness of my literary protagonists.'

In Book 7 THE NEVADA JOB Vince‘s manner of conducting a suspense filled thriller is refreshing to say the least. His language grows more eloquent with each new book and his ability to retain memories of the early books of the series enhances this story – but this book is quite easily a stand alone novel, so well crafted has Vince made the plot.

Vince submits the following summary: ‘A global battle for the world’s most precious material. Deadly events swirl under the watchful eyes of spies and a ruthless billionaire. With thousands of lives at stake, a reluctant Case Lee enters the scene. Never bet against the little guy. It was a low-key investigation. Until signals flared that danger lay ahead with people’s lives a throwaway commodity. The trail leads back to the Nevada wild lands. Or given.’

One of the many aspects that make Vince such a successful novelist is his spectrum of characters he deftly creates – not only his impressive Case Lee, but in this novel also Jessica Rossi and many others His characters are so well crafted that they plead visualization in cinema! Vince Milam is now recognized as one of the major writers of suspense novels writing today. Polished to a fare-thee-well, this novel another superb action thriller.

Another good one

I really like this series of novels. Formulaic, old school heroic and not complicated but thoroughly enjoyable, they are the caviar of popcorn. If only real life contained such characters. Sadly, I do not believe it really does. That's why they call such novels "entertainment". But well done, Vince Milam.

Another great one.

As per usual, these books are all hard to put down once started. Action, adventure, a bit of military referenced, humor and a bit of geography are all included. Can't wait for the next one. I highly recommend reading these books if you like this genre. Enjoy

Case Finds His Newest Assignment Is Two Dangerous Jobs In One

Case travels to Bolivia to check on a remote rare earth minerals mine that is having problems. What he finds is well beyond his ability to solve himself. The entire operation is being systematically attacked by a rival mining operation guarded by Russian Spetnatz. There is no outside help available, Case and the mine workers have to find the solution themselves.

With one problem taken care of, Case then travels to Nevada where he finds a similar situation. Another Canadian run mining operation is being threatened by the same Russian Spetnatz commandos. This time Case has help in the form of his former military unit. Nothing is easy, though, and it takes a complex and dangerous plan to confront the threat.

I love this series. Vince Milam is a talented and witty author who somehow makes his character’s outrageous actions seem perfectly normal. I can never predict how the story will develop. The stories are intricate, the characters believable, and the warm heart of Case reveals itself in amazing ways. The Nevada Job is a superb addition to the Case Lee series.

I do have a lot of sympathy with Peterman. I see some mercenaries gunning down an old woman calling them out and devils for theirurdering innocent characters would also have my blood boiling.
This happened in the Chako region of Bolivia, a poor part of the country, where a rich deposit of rate metals have been discovered.
Anarchy started ruling. Just as well Case Lee could lead the Bolivians to defend themselves properly.
But then, the main culprit was not in Bolivia and Case is keen to get to Nevada to complete his mission.
The Nevada Job really brings home how fragile peace can be when greed rules.
Enjoy.

Eagerly awaiting the next Case Lee adventure

Mr. Milam continues to outdo his previous epics with his latest tale. This time Case gets involved in the mining business in both Bolivia and Nevada. An evil tycoon will do anything to secure rare earth mining claims for himself. As Case gets embroiled in this conflict, against his better judgment, old friends and acquaintances arrive to help him against ex-Spetznatz soldiers. Very exciting and action filled book. Highly recommended!

Fantastic Read

When death threats and attempts on Case Lee’s life at the behest of a ruthless billionaire wanting revenge for the shutting down of his mining operations in Bolivia by Case, backup arrives to cover his back. The zany and fierce brotherhood of Special Forces friends of Case show up once again to thwart the forces of evil manifested by the Russian ex Spetsnaz soldiers working for the billionaire. MI6 and Mossad spooks that took part in the Bolivia mining camp destruction in aid of the insurrection of the locals also come to join the fracas for a surprise ending.

I do like these stories. Well written and good characters. But...and there's always a but with me, they are all getting a bit samey. Get a mission, go to the clubhouse, go to a new country/State, go beyond job parameters, blow stuff up he shouldn't, go somewhere else, blow more stuff up, goes too far and needs old Delta team mates, kill all bad guys and go home/clubhouse etc, etc. In between he sees his girlfriend/family, says and does all the same stuff....
Needs to shake it up a bit, a few curve balls here and there.

The Nevada Job

The latest in The Case Lee Series, has Case traveling to Bolivia to investigate a mining operation. Case discovers that this simple operation involved M16, and Mossad, and Russian Mafia Operator s. Case is also torn because his relationship is at a crossroads and his sister really wants him to settle down. Great storyline, especially interesting facts about how valuable minerals have become

Same as previous

Basically, just the same plot as several of the previous books.
It is well done, solid interesting writing.
But this book takes the overall narrative nowhere.
Perhaps a victim of success? And working a deadline to publish??? Not sure???
It’s a good book, not great.
The author could write a great book, and (if doesn’t have one yet) deserves a book deal. But writing in this manner is doing more harm than good to that goal.

Another Fine Case Lee Novel Must Read

Another fine Case Lee adventure. Its a great pleasure and quite humorous when his old colleagues show up. Normally there is a bit of violence for a cause that Case is involved and that's not the humorous part but their characteristics and dialogue are.
Sometimes a bit Predictable but always a good adventure to read. Would be nice to see them all find love.

The Nevada Job

This is the latest in a really good series. Case accepts a job that sounds easy. Naturally it goes sideways. The entire team gets involved. Very good characters that have been developed over the series of books. Plenty of action. An all too possible story line. Just a very good read. Recommended.

A great book

Classic Vince Milam book. The normal intrigue, sufficient violence, danger, restraint, resolution. I really like this Case Lee series. He’s a badass with a heart, morals and skills. His friends are equally cool. Can’t go wrong on this series. I highly recommend this and all the Case Lee books.

The AK Corral

By George! Bloody good tale, yet again. Consistency is the mark of a good writer. Think ‘Rockford Files’ and ‘Ian Fleming’ and oh a bit of ‘Charge of the Light Brigade’ tossed in for good measure and you’ll have just an inkling of what you’re missing if you pass on this series. All thumbs up. Bravo!

A great read

I have not to this point reviewed a Case Lee book. They have all been great reads. There is a comfort in the pace and a peace in the brotherhood that is well written. I’ve yet to be stunned by the conclusion which prohibits the 5th star, but as I’ve rated them all with 4 stars and I keep reading, it might be surmised that I don’t mind.

Case Lee is an intriguing individual

In this adventure I have visited Bolivia and Northwest Nevada. Battle Hardened experience was needed in both environments. I am delighted to see that a good Sheriff can be found there. Governors can be bought, and I can only hope that Sheriff are less prone. Looking forward to the next location!

I love this series (Case Lee). They are not great literature, though The Nevada Job is by far the best written. The characters are lovable and there is lots of action. A total escape from reality.

Never a dull moment...

...with Case Lee. Here, the characters evolve yet stay true to their roots. Their code of conduct is much like John Wayne’s character in The Shootist. I respect it.
A great read.

Another fast paced episode in the Case Lee series. The formula works, the action moves quickly, with the protagonist's familiar self-deprecating humor served up in between putting down bad guys. Brain candy when I needed some!

Super Characters

I read all 7 of the Case Lee Thrillers. They are an exciting way to get your Adrenalin Rush satisfied.
I am a Vietnam Vet with Multiple Purple Hearts so it takes a lot to get me excited.
Don't miss this series.

Wow! Non-stop Action Laced With Intrigue And Shootings

Ex Special Forces guys sorting out problems at mining sites sounds sort of boring, but this is hardly the case. Fascinating saga of violence in a good cause. You will not put this book down unfinished.

Exciting book but predictable plot

When will Case give up this lifestyle that will surely kill him? A lot of cigarette smokers fail to answer that question as well. Addictions are tough, so I will continue to read this series.

Entertaining as usual

I found myself laughing out loud at parts of this book. The flow of this book was better than average for this series. I have fallen behind Vince's writing schedule, so I will have to catch up.
