The first full novel of the explosive new Joint Task Force 13 series from Cannon Publishing! France, 1944. Allied forces are fighting in the hedgerows of Normandy, battling German armored forces. Hastily established airfields provided close air support and battle the Luftwaffe for control of the skies. One airfield is overrun by a supernatural horde, destroying every craft except a P-61 Black Widow, the allies new night fighter. Task Force 13, busy fighting the outbreaks of supernatural that always accompanies war, hasn't an extra Marine to spare. A scratch crew of soldiers, airmen and one stray Marine pilot are given orders to seek out and destroy the horde of "gremlins" before they do further damage. Along the way they stir up something larger than they bargained for, and the war takes to the air. There is a thin wall between our world and that of the Fae and, during times of war, it is easily stepped through. The passions and emotions stirred by violence and combat bleed over, and the supernatural often awake from long slumber to meddle in mortal affairs. Then also, there are the humans who purposely force that wall down seeking glory and power.Either way, there have always been those among us who have been willing to meet the supernatural threat with cold steel, burning hearts and grim determination. In modern America, they are the men and women of Joint Task Force 13, those who have proven they have the mettle to confront soul blasting otherness on the battlefield. This unit, this organization, though, has been intertwined with our country since its birth. The name changes, but they are always there, ready to answer the call. Unknown, seeking no glory, asking no reward. They hold the line ... BETWEEN HEAVEN AND HELL.

This was a quick read. Besides being a page turner, the swift movement of the characters during war time kept me wanting to read. As a history the weapons and equipment are accurate but not the villain. Once again JTF 13 must step in and prevent the supernatural for affecting the outcome of the war. Shortly after landing on Omaha Beach creatures damage tanks and planes.
The stories exciting pace and interesting characters is worth checking out this novel. As this novel is part of a larger world (more stories about JTF to follow) I will keep flowing as long as the stories keep me riveted.

For some, the Germans weren't the worst enemy after D-Day.

Fantastic D-day in France action. But the enemy our boys encounter is not what they expect. What is tearing up the farms, villages, even German tank platoons?
A special team of survivors is tasked with tracking down and ending the super threat.
Along the way they make friends, enemies, rivals, and a whole lot of crispy critters.
Fly & fight alongside JTF-13, as they jump to stand between our world & the other side of myth, legend... hell itself.

This was such a quick read because I just didn't want to put it down. Gremlins during WWII, a hodgepodge unit with great detail. This book makes me wonder if the author found some secret documents or visited Area 51. He sealed the fantasy with truth so well, I could seriously see a new conspiracy theory start.
I'm also pleased that he didn't kill off my favorite character which I won't write down, just in case the author reads this and gets ideas.

A solid read!

The first full-length entry into the JTF-13 universe, which revolves around servicemen waging battle around the world against supernatural forces.
This novel takes us to France in the days following the D-Day invasion, as we ride with a squadron of assembled airmen facing off against hoards of gremlins.
Interesting characters and lots of action.
My only downfall is in my own unfamiliarity with some of the equipment that William describes in loving detail. If you have ever spent time in a P-61, you will be thrilled with his treatment and detail though.

An excellent story!!!!

Gremlins, OMG!! What all soldiers and airmen fear! They live to hear up mechanisms and eat human flesh. During WW 2 they infest the countryside around Paris. As JTF13 fights to rid the country of this menace, a soldier named Sullivan takes it personal after his unit is wiped out, with him as the sole surviver He joins JTF13 as they set up a unit with 1 Widowmaker aircraft and several soldiers. They track the gremlins and kill them at every opportunity. They eventually add an American B-25 bomber to their number and start making headway. Tons of blood and guts. Highly recommended!!

William Joseph Roberts is my new favorite author! I enjoyed this book, especially all the WWII action, characters, and aircraft. Since I was in Naval Aviation for four years, I enjoyed all the technical details of the airplanes. GOOD JOB!

we didn’t get to test the not feed them after midnight rule

Coming off the anthology Origins book made me think i was getting a secound anthology, not a novel under 250 pages. Better clarify in future books might confuse new readers getting into this series like me.
