He swore he would never lose control again. Then she walked in the door.
Roz Kingman believes her ex in-laws threats, and that she is living on borrowed time when she relocates to Idaho. Intending to work off her bucket list while she can, she decides the surly rancher, Drake McCullough, is the perfect man to appease her kinky fantasies, and doesn’t let his obstinance deter her.
Drake’s tortured memories of escaping his two Taliban abusers keep him from getting involved in personal relationships other than his family. The moment he realizes the flirty brunette is his mate, he vows to protect them both by staying clear of her wiles, no matter how much he craves to make her his.
When separate vandalism incidents appear to be direct threats against Roz, there is no way Drake will refuse to protect her, no matter the risk his involvement may pose to losing his shaky control. Will succumbing to each other offer a chance for redemption and freedom, or will the gamble cost them both everything?
DISCLAIMER: This steamy, contemporary Western romance contains elements of mystery, suspense, and power exchange. Please do not buy this book if any of these offend you.
I live in the Midwest with my husband and two dogs, enjoy spending time with my daughter, babysitting her two dogs, reading and working puzzles. We have traveled extensively, but I much prefer being a homebody.
I began writing erotic novels with an emphasis on erotic spanking five years ago never dreaming that I would get published. I just celebrated the release of my eleventh title and am very thankful to my publisher, Pink Flamingo, for taking a chance on me and giving me the opportunity to enjoy a fun career. While my earlier books lean more towards straight erotica that will appeal to only a very select audience, my last five books are erotic romances. I enjoy hearing all comments from readers. After the surprise of Ms. BJ Wane writing a Cowboy shifter book, I looked forward to reading more, and she did not disappoint with the third story of Drake McCullough and Roz Kingman. These two characters each have a secret past, one that still haunts them and one that holds them back from moving forward. Both harbor feelings of guilt, anger, and live with the nightmares and fear that the past will come back and destroy any chance of a future.
Roz Kingman will be offered a promising position as a veterinarian working beside Dr. Dennis Winthrop, and he plans for her to take over the practice so he can retire eventually. This means leaving Iowa and her past behind and moving to Idaho. She will be honest with Dennis about her ex-husband, her ex-in-laws, and their threats. But, he will be the only one she shares this information with.
Drake McCullough is a dark, brooding soul with a dark and painful secret. During his military time overseas, being held captive and tortured, he fought for his life and that of his family. But taking the lives of his captors haunts him. Now, he has a new problem; the new lady veterinarian has stirred up his wolf and won’t let him rest. The more he tries to avoid her, the more she seems to be around.
“Out of sight, out of temptation.” --Drake
The plot will have Roz attempting to have a normal life but living in fear that eventually, her ex-in-laws will somehow win and have her committed to prison—because money and influence talks. She has decided that she will make a bucket list and do her best to cross items off before she no longer has a chance. Once she meets Drake, there is this uncanny chemistry, as if she is drawn to him, even when he is pushing her away.
“Life is way too short not to take advantage of every moment and every opportunity.” --Roz
I will have to admit I laughed out loud so often at the antics and comments from Roz; she is bold, brash, and not afraid to state what she wants—and that is Drake for as many wild sexual encounters, as she can have. Despite his wolf, Drake is trying to keep her away, but that is a lost cause.
“I’m not your daddy, baby, but your big bad wolf. You pestered me into an affair, and now I’m not letting you change your mind. Deal with it.” --Drake
“I was defining this attraction between us, deciding the only thing that makes sense is the simplest explanation—it’s just animal instinct—and I can work with that.” –Roz
The story has the good, the bad, the ugly, and deep secrets—it is those secrets that eventually must be revealed. When Drake discovers someone is intentionally causing issues for Roz, his dominant nature takes control. How far are Roz’s ex-in-laws willing to go to cause her problems? Will Drake decide it’s time to accept that Roz is his mate and protect her no matter the cost?
The story has plenty of angst, mystery, suspense, quirky comments, bold statements, and explicit sex scenes. It won’t take long before Drake and Roz make a huge dent in her bucket list. There is some power exchange, a bit of life and death danger, some abuse, and two people finally accepting that fate has brought them together. Best of all, this story has two people able to help each other heal and move forward.
BJ Wane has written a 5-star book. This is the story of Roz and Drake. Roz is at home packing when her husband, Dean comes home. She thinks, he was not supposed to get the divorce papers until later that day. They get into an argument and he grabs her by the wrist, she knees him and they go down. When they go down, he breaks her arm. He is mad now and comes after her, she hits him with a lamp and he goes out. She calls 911 and when they get there, they notice her arm. She has to go through two surgeries and her arm is still messed up. Dean is in a coma and his mother, Patricia is trying her best to get Roz charged with something. She is now working for a Vet in another state and just waiting for Patricia to get one of her friends to charge Roz with Dean being hurt. Roz has gone to the club and she has an instant attraction to him. She tries to get his attention but he withstands her advances. She gets an emergency call and it is for Drake's horse. Drake is a wolf shifter and was in the military and while there, he was held captive. He was beaten and he took it until his captives said they were going to hurt his family. This is when he let his wolf out and took them out. Now he does not trust himself to not hurt anyone so he stays alone. Things happen and they end up together. Things start to happen to Roz and she feels like it is Patricia's doing. She doesn't want to tell Drake what is going on, she just wants to enjoy the time she has with him. Drake finally gets her to tell him what is going on and he is upset that she has gone through what she has. Dean has passed away and now Patricia wants Roz to pay and she gets her brother Richard to get his guy to go after her. Roz and Drake are out at the club he and his brothers, Gavin and Cody own and Roz needs some air so she goes outside. She sees someone messing with Drake's truck and this person comes after her. She takes off and calls Drake. Drake, Gavin, and Cody take off after her. The man that was sent to mess with Roz is attacked by a puma and Drake attacks the puma since they had been looking for it. When they save the man from certain death, he tells them everything. It seems the man had been doing business with Patricia's brother and recording everything they had said. Now Patricia and her brother have been arrested on different charges. Will Roz finally be able to stay and have a life with Drake? Will Drake let go of his past and let Roz in? This was a wonderful book and I would recommend it to anyone.

I hated the heroine in this story. I'll admit to a double standard. Male pursuit is just more attractive to me. There, I said it. But, if the heroine were a man in this day and age, she would have been tarred and feathered by the #metoo movement. Not only does no not mean no under the guise of "I know he's attracted to me" but she also decides she only wants him for a fling. She comes off as highly unattractive, and a few other adjectives I choose not to be explicit about. Then to add insult to injury, she's new in town and tells everyone she meets of her intentions. Something the author apparently forgot about midway through the story because she claims that she didn't want anyone to think of her as desperate. Some 50 pages too late. There is no depth to her character, whose only identifiable quality is horniness. Intelligence is clearly not a factor. I could be mildly sympathetic with her desire to check in on her abusive ex husband, but why would she try to save a stranger who was sent to harm her and who had just attempted to kill her. That just makes her unworthy of sympathy. Her attitude toward impending charges is way too flippant to be believed. But let's say that was her coping mechanism. Why would you persist in antagonizing the individuals who are pursuing you? Perhaps her ex's mother could have eventually moved on if it were not for her continued harassment. And that of course brings me to ridiculous plot device number ... A hospital will not release information to an ex. Not even to a mother of an adult without legal permission. Given that he was comatose, it's unlikely that he granted his mother permission. So she would have had to have intervened with some sort of surrogacy court, leaving Mrs. Annoying heroine with no right to information. So that entire storyline was so lazy. The mark of a good writer is research. Something sorely lacking in many of today's novels. The only way this novel would have been satisfactory is if the hero turned into a wolf and finally devoured the heroine; and I mean literally. Unless you're simply in the mood for sex scenes, I wouldn't invest in this read.
This is a simply splendid addition to this series, once started impossible to put down This series continues to keep you completely riveted to the page, the characters are simply wonderful and the manner in which they are written by this author continue to hold the readers attention fully so that you are unable to put them down until you reach the last page and discover the outcome. Roz Cunningham was simply a splendid heroine and it was impossible not to be totally blown away by her, a veterinarian who has escaped from an abusive relationship she has left everything she had behind her but knows that her vindictive mother would have her head on a stake if at all possible. She has steered away from men totally and decides that she is going to enjoy a one-night stand with a handsome cowboy, Drake realises that the female is his mate and is avoiding her at all cost but fate has a strange sense of humour and it seems that these two are going to feel it’s sting. This is a wonderful third book in this series and although you can read this as a stand alone in reading the previous books it introduces you to other members of the pack and also details of other mates’ stories. I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.
This is book three in the Cowboy Wolf series. This can be read as a standalone. I haven't read the first two books and I didn't feel lost. I did enjoy this story so I'll be reading the first two books. It's smoking hot, entertaining and I couldn't put it down. It's well written and the author has a way of pulling you into the story. I'm fairly new to shifter romance. I'll be adding more to my reading list.
Roz is free from her abusively husband and she's left Iowa, he's in a coma after she defended herself when he attacked her. She ends up in Idaho in the Snake River Valley working in a veterinary clinic. She's convinced she'll be hauled back to Iowa one day be put in jail so she's determined to make the most of her life. Her ex-mother-in-law is out for blood. Drake runs the family ranch with his brothers and they're wolf shifters. He's still suffering from being torture when he was captured by the enemy while he was in the military even though it’s been 10 years. The moment Roz walked into the bar he felt her and she notices him. He knows she's his mate but he's determined to not claim her. He doesn't want a mate and is determined to ignore the signs. Will Roz and Drake help heal each other? Will Roz accept he is a wolf shifter?

Just when I think a series can’t get better as it moves on, BJ Wane’s Drake comes along and surprises me. While I absolutely adored the first two books in her Cowboy Wolves series, this one just floored me with how great it was. The characters are like night and day, oil and water, but they fit so well together. And I have never enjoyed a heroine as much as I enjoy feisty Roz Cunningham.
Roz is a veterinarian who has left an abusive situation, one that she got out of herself. But she’s also left behind a vengeful ex-mother -in-law who wants to see her pay, at any cost. Roz decides that she’s going to live life to the fullest, and that means having a one-nighter with a hot cowboy.
Too bad she’s set her sights on the crankiest cowboy in Idaho. Drake McCullough wants nothing to do with the woman meant to be his mate. He knows he’s dangerous so he tries to avoid her at all costs, but Roz doesn’t make it easy for him, and the resulting story is just a joy to read.
If you haven’t read the series, you can still start here, but why would you want to? This whole series is great from the start, so you should really get to reading this wonderful shifter series. You will positively love it!
Oh, the heat is HOT, and the physical chemistry is captivating so be careful you may just get burned all the heat coming off these pages. There were some "oh no" "oh wow" " what the what" moments and add in uncanny mishaps, and shenanigans the good kind that makes you keep turning the pages till last page has been turned. It wasn’t what I expected but loved every page Drake was a POW who escaped but has to deal with the aftermath of it all and Roz is a vet with an abusive and a cheater husband who killed her dog by poisoning and put trackers on her and she was done upon filing for divorce but he couldn’t allow her to leave he broke her arm so bad she needed two surgeries and in protecting herself she hit him in the head with a lamp just to get away she didn’t realize how bad she hit him putting him in a coma. His mother and uncle decided to make her pay for what she did regardless of the fact she was protecting herself. She gets offered a job in another city and accepts and this is where sexy Drake comes in the picture she is his mate but due to the ghost he fights daily he won’t accept that but we all know fate determines so will they in-laws win or will she and Drake finally realize that fate controls all and will/can she find happiness again?
Roz manages to escape from her abusive husband, but not the vindictive vendetta his mother has against her. Starting over in Idaho is a dream come true for Roz & her cheerful attitude has her quickly making friends with the locals. Drake’s inner wolf knows the moment he sets eyes on Roz that she is his mate, but Drake’s tortured past has him avoiding romantic relationships like the plague no matter how much Roz’s snarky comebacks call to his dominant nature. Roz knows Drake is attracted to her but his rough attitude as he pushes her away at every meeting leaves Roz looking to find a good time with another handsome cowboy. Every man has his breaking point and when Drake sees Roz in another man’s arms, Roz is in for a wild ride as Drake makes her every fantasy come to life. Roz & Drake are both keeping secrets from each other, but the demons from Roz’s past are determined to ruin her future and with the danger mounting, Drake will do whatever it takes to keep his mate safe. With Roz’s life on the line, Drake’s final secret will be revealed as he races to save his mate. The only question is, will Roz be able to accept the man with the beast?

Submitting to Her Mate: Drake is the third book in B.J. Wane’s Cowboy Wolf series and my absolute favourite story to date. Drake is a stoic character struggling with his past, and even though his actions were more than justified the demons that haunt his dreams refuse to abate. Determined to avoid the risk of hurting another, he shirks his brother’s insistence that he needs a good woman. But a feisty, brash and somewhat reckless vixen with demons of her own, is about to turn Drake’s solitary and structured life of confusion and torment. Drake is a story packed with intrigue, suspense, sassy banter and off the charts sexual chemistry that all combine to make this an exceptional read. As series go, this is definitely one where every book is better than the last, so make sure to read them all to appreciate the full impact of the family dynamics and the character development; you won’t regret a single captivating moment.

Drake is the most guarded of the three McCollough brothers, having fought and been a prisoner of war in Afghanistan. Roz is fleeing from her ex-husband's family after defending herself from his assault. They come together with fireworks as both of them fight their attraction, each for their own reason. Each has secrets to share, and trust to build. Once they both finally commit to a relationship, Drake will have to trust himself when Roz's life is in danger. This novel about the third and final brother is one I have anticipated since the first book came out. Drake is dark and mysterious, and has so many layers. Roz is just the woman to bring him back into the light, even with her own baggage. The story is everything I hoped for, and a great conclusion to the series. While it can be read as a stand-alone, there is a storyline that runs through the series, and is best read in order. Five out of five stars, this is a must read.

Roz and Drake, both with terrible backstories and major trauma, come together in a small Idaho town. She is the new vet and he is a rancher and wolf shifter. Roz had put her abusive ex in a coma and his family is out to get her put away in jail or worse. Would love Roz for a best friend as she tells it like it is and has a lot of sass. Drake does not know what he is up against, both in Roz and her exes family hijinks. The romance is strong with intense feelings and emotions as they are mates, the pull calling them together. The stress and surprises along the way keep the tension up so you can not put the book down. Loved the dog she adopted and how he was instantly part of her family. The events around the shifter proclamation were intense, but Roz was ready for it. Surprises and twists jumped at them throughout the storyline, and kept you on the edge of your seat. Loved the ending with mom and pop coming back home for a visit.

I am really loving this new series by BJ Wane. Cowboys are a favorite and so are shifters. When you put the two together, well magic can happen. Roz is left an abusive relationship but her ex inlaws want her to pay for what she's done. She decides to live her life and ends up in another state working with the local vet, Dr. Dennis. I really enjoyed how even though she thought her time was limited, she didn't let it stop her from having fun and making new friends. Sparks fly when she meets Drake and before you know it, there's a thing with them. She has no clue about what or who he really is though. I loved the banter between them and how she didn't let things get her down. But when things start happening around her, Drake becomes concerned. Can he protect her from whoever is after her? And what will happen when she finds out what he really is? Great story and I'm eager for the next one!!!
I loved this story of two broken people who help each other heal.
Roz Cunningham was married to an abusive husband named Dean who broke her arm when she filed for divorce. She is a veterinarian and was offered a job at Winthrop Animal Clinic & Hospital in Idaho. She is warmly welcomed in the new town. Drake McCullough is a broody wolf shifter, former military, was tortured when captive and suffers from PTSD. He and his two brothers own a ranch and a bar/club in town. Roz sees Drake tending bar and both are instantly attracted, Drake realizes she is his mate. He fights the attraction but eventually they get together and he introduces her to BDSM. Meanwhile Roz's former MIL and her brother keep trying to get Roz put in jail for putting Dean in a coma. The brother hired a low life to make her life miserable. Drake eventually takes care of the hired thug and they get their HEA.

This is the third book of the Cowboy Wolf Series. Roz is a veterinarian dealing with everything from cats to horses and cows. She is new in town after escaping an abusive marriage and being harassed by abusive ex-inlaws. Because of her past and her fear it will catch up with her, she intends to live life to the fullest and knock some things off her bucket list while she has the freedom to it. Drake is the youngest of three wolf-shifting brothers, but is tortured by memories of his capture and torture of 2 Taliban. He is afraid to get close to a woman, but when he senses and sees Roz, he knows she is his mate but is not happy about it. Roz, intent of living life to the fullest, pushes Drake's buttons until he gives her what she wants. When weird things start happening to Roz, Drake's wolf and his need to protect her kick into high gear and he will stop at nothing to make her safe. Loved this book and the themes of spanking and BDSM..
Drake is the brother whose story I’ve most been looking forward to. There’s just something that calls out to me about the wounded veteran, that made me need to know more about his story. I loved Roz. She’s fierce yet soft. Able to submit to Drake’s alpha personality, but she’s got a core of strength that she won’t sacrifice for anyone now. The pair each have their secrets which keep them from fully opening up to one another in the beginning. And as with the previous books in the series, I think Drake hung onto his for far too long. I adored the ending, however it felt like a bit of a let down considering how much angst and suffering was created in anticipation of that moment. There’s still some extended family out there, so I’m hoping that we’re not done with the McCullough Ranch. I received a complimentary copy of this book through Booksprout.
I have enjoyed the other two books in this series, but this one was the best. Both Drake and Roz have secrets, fears and guilt. When Roz’s husband broke her arm and threatened more bodily harm to her because she was leaving him, she fought back in self defense when she hit him with a lamp. No charges were filed against her, but her ex-mother-in-law has sworn revenge for her son’s comatose state. Roz accepts a job in Idaho at a veterinary clinic and welcomes the move and hopefully a new life without the threat of her ex husband’s family. When she and Drake first lay eyes on one another, the attraction is intense. Roz plans to act on it but Drake resisted those feelings. A well written storyline and wonderful, captivating characters. A hard to put down book.

Roz goes to Idaho for a job and to get away from her ex and her ex-in-laws. They have threatened her. She meets Drake and she is drawn to him and he is the one she wants to play out all her sexy bucket list items with. Drake is troubled by his past and he keeps secrets and harbors guilt. Roz only told one person about her crazy exes. Drake pushes her away even though he knows she is his mate. When things start happening will Drake protect her. Roz is bold and pushy and the perfect women to Drakes more sulking side. Drake when he needs to be can be all in. This book has it all, angst, intrigue, action, mystery and all the good things. This is a great book and I was hooked. I cannot wait for the next book in the series.

'Submitting to Her Mate' is the third book in BJ Wane's "Cowboy Wolf" series and it's just as good, if not better than the first two. We get to meet Drake McCullough, retired Marine, with nightmares of being captured and tortured until his wolf took control. And then there's Roz Kingman who has her own sorted past with an ex who is so abusive she had to defend herself and his mother who is intent on putting her in jail even though she was justified in her actions. Then let's throw in the fact that Fate has made these two mates. Of course, there's drama, angst, and danger riddled through the story but there's also the chemistry that goes along with fated mates and an epic sense of humor with their push and pulls towards each other. I loved this one so much.
Wow! What a great third book this was! I have been looking forward to reading Drake's story ever since he was first mentioned in the first two books. Both those books gave the reader hints of Drake. I was quite excited to see that he got his own book. This is a great series. I love reading about strong characters who overcome impossible situations to find love. Drake and Roz both have their own demons to live with and overcome. Can attraction and love overcome that? You must read it to find out. While this book can be read alone, I strongly recommend that you read other two books in the series first.

I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. Drake and Roz have a love story that you will not want to miss. He is a damaged man living with his demons from his time in the military. Roz believes that she is just living on borrowed time thanks to her ex. When she comes to Idaho, Drake realizes that she is his mate. He thinks that he needs to protect her from himself, until a worse enemy makes an appearance. He and his wolf realize that there is not a chance they can walk away now. These two broken people will find what they need with each other. This was a great book to add the series. Their love story is my favorite

Drake is the quiet, brooding brother, after his ordeal in the war he doesn't trust himself or his wolf to not loose control, so when the new town vet sets down a challenge he resists for as long as he can, but once that wall is gone she better look out because his protective wolf is on the hunt for whoever is threatening her peace. Great intense story, with familiar characters and a. Chase that is exciting and tempting. The personal dilemma that Drake has to overcome is heartwrenching and wonderful when he proves he has the ability to keep control. I hope there is more about this family, because I really loved the brothers stories and finding their mates.

The story is well written with well developed, easily relatable characters and really good story line with a spunky heroine Roz and a military vet Drake who suffers from PTSD. The book is entertaining with Roz wanting a one night stand with Drake who recognizes her as his mate and tries to avoid her, but things get complicated and serious when Roz's past comes calling and as Drake protects her we have a mixture of combustible chemistry combined with dangerous adventures and surprises. I loved the interactions, family relationships and the dynamics between the brothers were heartwarming. Splendid read - highly recommended.

OMG freaking awesome! Miss Wane writes another winner! If you ever see anything with BJ Wane's name on it, grab it will be awesome! BANGING HAWT! I loved how Roz pursued Drake and then he wasn't going to let her go. Such a twist from the male pursuit. She new who she wanted and went after him. And the things that came out of this woman's mouth. We don't see that enough. Both Drake and Roz were broken and they healed each other. They were each others redemption and salvation. I was actually able to relate to Roz from my real life, I just wish there was a cowboy wolf shifter out there for me. It was concluded with an epiloge that was discussed by all the brothers in all three books. I absolutely LOVE the way Miss Wane ended it.
I liked this story. Especially how Drake and Roz were able to help each other get past their individual PTSD. They were so perfect for each other. The ultimate resolution of using the puma that had been terrorizing the area for three books was inspired. I was wondering how, if or when, they were going to deal with that sick and dangerous beasty. Loved the book right up until the end. Mom and dad finding out about their mates was so anticlimactic. It had been built up in all three books as this huge deal only to get an "oh well" kind of reaction. Not even any discussion. A let down after the huge build up of worry. Other wise, I think this was my favorite book of the series.
I enjoyed this story, the first I have read by BJ Wane. Roz and Drake made for an interesting couple, both with painful and guilt-ridden pasts, dealing with those in different ways. Roz was a kick with her bucket list and her willingness to try new things. Drake kept everything inside as punishment and did not want to disrupt his family and their new lives. The loyalty of his family was heart warming, and they gave their support to Roz as well. There were some steamy scenes and quite a few moments of smiles, giggles, and tears.
I am glad I read this book and may get around to reading the ones previous.
BJ Wane is a great writer of BDSM erotica, so I was surprised to see that she has a series of books about shifters. I have not read the first two books (yet!) but I had no problem following the storyline. This is a standalone story, but I am definitely intrigued by the other characters and will start reading the other books immediately. This book has it all: well developed characters, great world building, drama, adventure, romance and very sexy scenes. The chemistry between the main characters was red hot and you couldn’t help but keep reading to make sure they got their happily ever after.

When you see BJ Wane's name on a book, please don't ever doubt that it will be a good read. This is no exception. Two wounded people. One who finds it hard to leave his past behind and the other whose past is chasing her. She just wants to get away from the trauma she's faced and live life as long as she can. She's reaching out for everything she's ever wanted in case it all comes to an end. He can't understand the urgency she feels, but as a shifter, he does understand his need for his mate even if he's not ready for her. This book is seriously hot.

This is the third book in the wolf cowboy series, but can be read on it's own. Roz is trying to get away from an abusive relationship and family, she moves to Idaho where she meets Drake who she likes, but when Drake realises that Roz is his mate, he decides that it is safest to stay away from her for her own safety as he is tortured by memories of his past. When he finds out she is in danger he vows to protect her. This book has feisty women and alpha males. This is a well written book and would highly recommend.

Roz nearly killed her husband in self-defense, he is in a coma since the attack. After some healing and a lot of hate from her by now ex-in-laws, she moves to a small town to work together with the local vet. Here she meets Drake, a wolf-shifter, who not only suffers from PTSD, but also is afraid, as he had lost control of his wolf when he was in captivity in Afghanistan. Roz plays with fire, tempts him, when he tries to resist the call of his mate bond. A nice story, mixing serious topics with romance, BDSM scenes and a touch of suspense, when the in-laws send a hitman after her. Three brothers with a slightly different way of life. A family of shifters that is accepted by some very accepting women. This is Drake a vet home from being held captive by the Taliban. A loner were he likes to live. Then come Rod a hot talking animals vet who moved from her home were her x husband lays in a comoa. Well Roz meets Drake . the night she goes to the brothers nightclub. S women Drake has a hard time facing as Roz is his mate. So the story goes mischief Inter spurred to give the story some dynamics as you can not just read one sex scean after another. An ok book as usual I will leave the reader there own choice to pick it up or not
