With a title like this, who wouldn't read the book? The book cover look so happening and creative. This is the writer's own journey.

This particular line has strong meaning in it. It tells us much about understanding of life. Through this book, author wants to convey her special message to the readers.

"Lit Soul: my journey back to Faith" by Hersey Jessey is a book where she tries to convey one sole message to her readers, which is the importance to love and to be loved by God. Alao that God loves all his/her diciples equally and does not discriminate on any basis.
REVIEW:
It is a very short read. This is the story of a girl (in a way) who has always felt loved and protected by God at all times in her life. Though overall this poetry collection has a good point to state, but at points the poems lost track and moved on to a totally different thing. the way the poems are written is not in a rhyming scheme of any kind. so I would rather call these verses. I believe that the present form of the book might be a little inconvenient for the reader to read.
Afterall, I did have a poem which made sense and I liked it.
It goes like this-
"let those on earth be forgiven,
let those who have been hurt be healed,
and those in need of food be fed. . . . may all the wars stop instead of continue,
may the judging stop.
that will be the day when hopes and dreams come true,
and our worls van indeed to called beautiful."
I like this poem becuase the message is so relatable. We all face somethings in our lives which make us believe in God and we seek protection, just like now in these times of pandemic. In this book, the poet has tried to change the Fear of the Unknown into Trust and Love of the Unknown.
TO WHOM DO I RECOMMEND READING THIS BOOK?
This book will prove to be good to people who like to read books about the powers of the Supreme Being. How he/she protects the followers.
Reading one poetry book daily, gives me immense pleasure. There is a connection in the poetries and poets have all together a different level of understanding for each and every word. The way they describe the feelings/emotions through poetries somehow keep me attached to the book. Poetry holds magic.
Lit Soul: My Journey back to faith is a collection of poetry which is really the best poetry book I've read this year. It’s an honest telling of poet Jessi’s life from the age of 6 years old to the present day and that's the main reason this poetry book will leave a long lasting impact on your life. All the poems are so heart touching, you can feel the emotions behind every poem, poems are based on the real experiences of the writer.
All the poems are expressing her thoughts and feelings so beautifully whether it is related to love, pain/suffering, healing or faith. Every poem is telling a story. Some poems will leave you with deep thinking and some will make you realise good things, some poems will hit you hard, some will get a place in your heart, some are thought provoking and some will work as a therapy. There are some poems that I read twice and noted down in my diary. So many poems described feelings I've had and the journey of healing is very important and R relatable part for me. So many familiar feelings & emotions. It's an uplifting read that will give you hope and strength. Highly recommend this book to everyone!
Poetry serves a unique role in our lives, distilling human experience and emotion down to truths as potent as they are brief.
This absolutely stunning collection of words made my day. Jessi's words written tore through my analytical mind and burrowed deep into my ultra-sensitive soul. It slayed all my emotions. I may not know a lot about poetry, but I do know a decent amount about feelings, and Jessi brought all my feelings tumbling out with this gorgeous collection of poems. There are some really beautiful poems in this collection, poems that express your emotions allowing you to surrender your feelings. You might want to seek out some silence, read on and find those that grab you. Read and reflect. Sit for a while in your silence. This collection, while in many ways simple, addresses some of the darkest and most hopeful matters of the human heart. Through this book, the author shares about her life, her journey to find faith again and again. She gives us hope, strength and power.
The poetry in this book is so raw and beautiful that I related to so many that I kept going back to reread my favorites and highlight and tab them. This collection is strong. Daring. It's empowering. I cannot wait for the next book so I can be taken apart again. Thank you Jessi for opening yourself up and allowing me to fall in love with your thoughts.
Poetry must be the bravest genre of literature. A poet seeks to compress into a few thoughts a story a novelist tells in a thousand words. And, just like that, there it is. I do admire their valor.
Jessi Hersey is one of those. Her “Lit Soul” is a short 99 pages that contains all the emotions of volumes of prose. While it took me less than two hours to savor it, it gives the reader the intellectual satisfaction of days of entertainment. She does this by opening her soul to you, caressing your understanding and emotions with snippets from her life.
Admittedly, she has been writing poetry since the tender age of six. What a precocious child she must have been, and how lucky we all are she continued on the road less traveled, which is the actual Frost-inspired theme of one of her poems!
My favorite poem in this book is actually the one she wrote to an eighth grade teacher whose daughter died:
“…Life never ends, and so her love will never end,
and neither will your love for her.
That is the beautiful thing about life,
Your daughter lives on.”
Few eighth-graders can summon such authority in their words, capturing sadness, love and hope. Her adult poems carry on the simplicity of her poetic strength.
One of the things I think makes for great poetry is the author’s vulnerability. I don’t think any other form of writing gives you a better sense of who the writer is like poetry does. To write poetry is to give the world a look at your most intimate self, the good and bad. If this painted picture of the author is accurate, then Ms. Hersey is sensitive, thoughtful, faith-driven, and compassionate.
The poems in My Journey Back to Faith are filled with calls to love, whether for one another, one’s self, or God. The topics vary, but to me, love felt like the overwhelming theme. The poems feel as if there is a sweetness and a light that comes through in them. They are very calming.
There were some that I wished Hersey had gone a little deeper with; like the story told in the poem was only touching the surface. It may have been more poignant had she chosen to give a little bit more, but these are by far the exception.
If you are a fan of poetry, looking for a light, uplifting, easy read, My Journey Back to Faith is a great choice!
This book is for everyone who is broken, sad and dealing with some difficult phase. This book is a friend for those who never stop dreaming, who feel broken but never fail to smile, for those who live with anxiety but never give up, for those who dare to love despite all odds and for those who find strength in words.
All in all? Most definitely worth the read! Trust me. The writing is simply amazing, showing a level of skill and mastery of language that is sure to impress. This is one of the best book giving practical guidelines to help us prepare for and work through losses of every kind so that we can survive hard times emotionally, as well as physically and spiritually.
The writer continues to bless the lives of her readers with new insights, experiences, and poetry that touch the heart and lift the burdens of a weary soul. This book offers incredible comfort, telling readers everywhere : You are not alone, and you will find your way. You should definitely read this book if you love reading poems that can make you feel better.
“The heartbeat of a child’s soul/ keeps pumping for air/ For without it the child is gone.” Poems that speak to us in a language that our heart understand and that tickle our feelings and connect with our soul. There are quite few books that touch our heart and leave impression on us that lasts a lifetime. This book is one of those books that you’ll love and cherish for a lifetime.
This book is a collection of poetry that is divided into four different themes about love, loss, finding place in the world, and coming back to what you can’t see, which is faith. This book revolves around Jesse and her tales of life since 6 years of her age till now.
“we must not see black or white/ But all as one, / completely whole.” This poem sheds light on a lot of contemporary issues as well. If you love poetry, then this is your book and you should get it to find a life back to faith. I 100% recommend it. MUST BUY.
“When will the tears of fear and sadness fade away?...Shall we spend our lives in sorrow, instead of with a heart filled with loads of happiness?” Hasn’t this become story of our life? We all are sad and depressed and our mental health is taken a hit. We all are waiting for our good days and bright days. Well, we don’t know whether we’ll ever find happiness in our life.
“Since your heart can’t take away the pain of the one you love and lost, the loss still follows you like a shadow, and you feel you can’t do anything about it, yet there is a pathway to comfort and peace.” Whenever someone passes away, it makes a hole in the heart of the person. You feel a lot of things in heart but you can’t do anything. These feelings eat you up.
This book is a collection of poetry revolves around love, loss, finding yourself and faith. This is meant for poetry lovers. It is based on the poet’s life since childhood till now. These poetries really touch your soul and feels relatable.
🌻Heart of home is where people exist only to be restraint in fear of lies. - Jessi Hersey
This is such a wonderful and heartfelt collection of poems which just brightened my week and made me believe in the power of love, God and life in general. The book is divided into sections which makes it convenient to understand the intent behind the particular poems. The illustrations in the book are so vibrant and beautiful, they truly compliment the author's writing. . . I have read a lot of poetry books but there is something very special about this one because the poems have dates, they just bring the nostalgia in an authentic way, which I really admire and appreciate.
My most favorite poems are, Fly, Rose, Maniac mind, A Child, Death, Dr. MD MD, Falling apart and Miracle.
I definitely loved it and it's a vert short read which will keep you glued throughout. Go for it. . Rating: 4.25⭐️
Poetry is an interesting genre because one can interpret the words in more than one way. Poems are charming to read and also help one understand the perspective of the author. Lit Soul is filled with excellent poems that one would want to read every day. Some poems are long and still exciting to read. The book is a beautiful addition to literature and great material to encourage the reading culture. The author is gentle with her words and embraces a modest tone through most parts of the book.
Jessi writes from her heart. Her words can be felt by any reader and her message is perfectly understood. Some of the poems felt like monologues as the author made them personal. I enjoyed reading these types of poems as it enabled me to know how Jessi's mind worked.
A worth reading collection of poems, it's empowering, motivating and so heart touching.
"You look in a mirror watching a person who looks like you but doesn’t act like you" - these words hit home. For someone who, for a long time, didn't want to acknowledge my reflection in the mirror, the words stir memories.
Sharing a few lines I found especially memorable...
"loss still follows you like a shadow"
"Hidden pain, /forgotten words /inside a grain /eaten by a bluebird"
To sum up, the poetry collection is heart-felt. The poems, every one of them, are both a cry of pain and release. A deeper study of form and reading more poetry of self thought will broaden the poet's vision.
This book is a beautiful collection of Poetry by Christian Author, Jess Hersey. The Poetry was so beautifully put together and I could identify with the words. This Poetry spoke to my soul and I was absorbed in this book immediately and felt such inner peace while reading it.
I was fortunate to have won a kindle copy of this book from a Goodreads Giveaway.

Respect to an author who can put pen to paper and share their emotions, thoughts feelings and experiences through poetry. These is a beautifully written poems that are thought provoking and connect the author with her readers so they truly understand the journey of her life. The odd colourful illustrations really enhance the underlying message given. My favourite is The Road Less Travelled. Excellent quality of work. Well done x
I'd like to encourage this author because she has a good way with words and a lot to say. I was especially impressed with Joan of Arc, The Innocent, A Child, and Reflection. Not all the poems rhyme, but they're well constructed with attention to sound, and they deal with important things: losing a child, the effect of pills on one's spirit, etc. There are a few typos in critical places - but in poetry, every place is critical. Good poetry, though; I recommend it.
Lit Soul is a collection of uplifting poems that will brighten your day. The author tells her personal journey back to her faith. In my opinion, the ones I liked best were the poems she dedicated to people who in some way affected her life, like Your Daughter. Regardless of whether you are religious or not, every person can find a poem here that they can relate to, leaving you feeling a little more at peace.
Beautiful collection of soulful poetry. My most favourite one is Joan of arc. Others include K and Vietnam. The authors shares her thoughts about the pandemic, having faith and staying positive in difficult times. I must say - the book is beautifully formatted and well presented. If you are looking for inspirational, read this book.
I really like the poetry in this book and how you connect faith and life together. It's a practical way to help people understand. I am reminded of what God can do and has done. It reminds us who He is too. We can always trust Him in all matters of life and know He will come through for us. Miracles should be natural for us.
I don’t usually enjoy poetry books but I liked this one. There’s a peaceful and healing element to this book rather than dark and gloomy like I’ve seen in other poetry books. Some of the poems I really connect to. Some I was unsure about but still you can see the journey of the author. I liked Christmas Prayer and God’s Love the most.
Beautifully written and complied poems. As someone who has wrestled with suicide and depression, Manic Mind brought me to tears. Down to earth and insightful thoughts explode from every word the author writes and you can tell their whole heart is in it.
First to begin with.....what beautiful poetry! I have gotten into reading poetry books this last year, and I have loved this one! One I am going to highly recommend for sure. The poems so much love, and devotion! When you write a poem you have to express how you feel, and that is what the author is doing in these poems for sure.
This collection of poems is a quick read. However each poem should be savored. Themes run the gamut from musing on love to finding one's self. An overarching theme of religion pervades the work. "Heaven" was particularly moving. Some minor formatting errors are present but they don't distract for the poems themselves.
This isn't my usual genre that I read. But this particular book got me curious. I could really see the emotion that was poured out from the author through these poems. I particularly liked the ones where God was the focus of the poem. It was like reading a psalm from the bible, where she poured out her heart to God through her writings.
A wonderful book of poems that perfectly exemplifies the human condition in all of its imperfect glory. Each poem has a sense of warmth and a positive undertone especially for those of religious faith.
This is a collection of heartfelt poetry. There was such transparancy as the poet documented her quest for spiritual healing and acceptance. The formatting and artwork were lovely.
I like how the Author is genuine about being transparent in what she believes. Although, I have some different beliefs when it comes to faith, following Christ. This Author does a good job expressing herself. One of my favorite poems was Joan of Arc!
