Education is important. Who knew it was also dangerous!
Fall semester is starting at Spencer University, and Olivia is looking forward to an uneventful school year.
However, when the president of the university, Thaddeus Stoddard, doesn't show up for the fall kick-off meeting, it looks like things will be anything but normal.
His wife Candy comes to Olivia for help, but Olivia isn't convinced he's missing. When Candy receives a ransom note, and one of the Thaddeus' colleagues said he was about to divorce Candy because she was cheating, it doesn’t look good for Candy’s husband.
Can Olivia find out the truth before it's too late and the President goes missing forever?
As a child, Laina thought she would either be a truck driver (thanks to Jerry Reed in Smokey and the Bandit) or work at Taco Bell (her favorite restaurant as a child). As she grew older, she realized her talents lay in other areas, and for the last several years has been a college professor teaching business and English.
Through all her career choices, she has continued to have a passion for writing stemming from childhood, where, as an only child, she developed a vivid imagination.
She is proud of her vast experiences in life from barrel racing, to being on the dance team for a semi-pro basketball team, to being a mom of 2 amazing kids.
She decided to follow her dream as an author in 2009 and has worked her way up to having 5 fans (maybe 6 now). She often tells her family and friends that no one is safe from his or her ventures slipping into her books. Her blog, In Pursuit of Fabulous, was launched to share the daily fun in her life as a Real Midlife Housewife of the Midwest.

The fall semester is starting at Spencer University, and university president Thaddeus Stoddard is missing. He had gone to a conference in Philadelphia the previous week and then disappeared shortly after the start of the conference.
Stoddard's wife Candy asks Professor Olivia Little to help find her husband, remembering how Olivia had helped the police solve the murder of a faculty member the year before. Olivia, in turn, enlists the help of law professor Chloe Parsons. Olivia and Chloe start digging into the life of President Stoddard and hear a range of conflicting views from the people who know him best. But their willingness to ask awkward questions leads them eventually to the truth.
The title of this novel has little to do with the content, since all the action takes place outside of the classroom. There are also some changes the first book of the series, where Olivia teaches composition. Here she is a psychologist. The university is also in a different town in this book than it was in the first installment. The ending is abrupt, with no explanation of exactly what had happened at the conference attended by President Stoddard.
Olivia is a college professor with a sharp mind and a deep understanding of the human psyche. Last year, as she puts it, she just fell into the clues it took to solve a fellow college faculty member's murder. Now the president of the college is missing, assumed kidnapped. It would be best if she didn't get involved. Great story with fun characters. Nice, shorter read.
When President Stoddard doesn't show up for the first meeting of the school year, it's very odd. After about a few days, his wife, Candy, calls Chloe to say he's missing and wants her help. Chloe has never had much to do with Candy, but she knows Chloe helped solve a murder last year. It's looking like he's been kidnapped. Chloe's boyfriend's works for the university's security and wants her to stay out of it and leave it to the police. She just can't do that with Candy begging for help. This is a good cozy with lots of plot twists and both good characters and bad guys. I really enjoyed it.
Its the beginning of a new school year for Olivia. She loves her job as a professor, her co workers, and a cute sexy almost boyfriend, Dan head of campus security. With the beginning of the school year, President Stodard always has a welcome assembly for the students and staff. When he fails to show up, people begin to worry. As the story progresses so do the suspects. With no clues to follow, they dont know what happened to him. Would you murder for money? . I like the characters in this story. They are strong and well written. The storyline is great. Looking forward to more in this series.
Olivia is a professor at Spencer College in Ohio. School is getting ready to start for the fall; however, the president is a no-show for the kick-off meeting. When Candy, the 2nd wife of the president, asks Olivia for help, Olivia reluctantly becomes involved. Was the president kidnapped? Or did he run away with a younger woman?
This is an interesting story with a lot of side-twists. It is the first book in this series that I have read. Read and enjoy.
The University's President is missing. The wife says he is kidnapped, but there is no evidence of that until she gets a 'plain jane' ransom note. There is something going on with the president's wife. She isn't as forthcoming as she should for someone who asked Chole to help her. Chole keeps coming up with more questions than answers. Was there a kidnapping or worse? You will have to read the book to find out. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
An interesting story with fun characters and an unexpected plot twist. Make sure to get out your red pencil because, if you're like me, you'll want to fix all of the typos and grammatical errors.
This is one great series. Different murder of case in every book. Olivia a professor in college always involved in solving the university crime. Fun read.
