Rate this book

Makayla always knew, with Jason’s lifestyle, he would eventually be murdered or sent to prison for the rest of his life. That was the price most paid when they gave their souls to the streets. When Jason’s crimes finally caught up with him, he made his best friend, Kannon, promise to look after his heart in human form – Makayla. Years pass, and Kannon comfortably rules Jason’s empire… getting close to Makayla and her secret love child in the process.

When Jason finds out he and Makayla conceived a son their last night together, he’s determined to do whatever it takes to regain his freedom – even if that means becoming an informant. That choice puts a target on Jason’s back that forces him and his family to flee. Though Makayla is happy Jason is out, she finds herself struggling between rebuilding a family with him and missing what she had back home with Kannon.

Bodies drop by the dozens in an attempt to lure Jason back home, forcing him to face the consequences of his choices. With Makayla caught up in a love triangle, she has to choose between her past with Jason or the future she saw with Kannon. After love, betrayal, and murder… the trio of friends learn what it really means to keep it trill.

Promise to Keep it Trill was a very good book. It is very fast paced with a lot of plot twists and unexpected turns happening. Kannon, Jason, and Makayla are three friends that made a promise that they would always keep it trill. They are heavy in the streets and loyalty is their thing. But, when Jason finds himself in prison their loyalty pack became more of an afterthought. There were so many secrets that I did not see coming but they kept me engaged and wanting to know what would happen next. Let me just say, Kannon is everyyyything! 🤤Like I absolutely fell head over heals with his character. He’s a teddy bear at heart but he doesn’t play about the ones he loved. I also liked Jason’s character in the beginning but I was very frustrated with him a lot but he redeemed himself when it mattered. Throughout the book I felt like Makayla deserved more; to me she made the ultimate sacrifice but bad things kept happening to her. I really enjoyed these characters and their growth was good. This was a very well written book. And no, I didn’t see the ending happening the way that it did, mind blown. ❤️

😫😫😫😫 The BEST urban romance!!!!

This book!!!!! OMG!!! I’ve cried, chuckled, shaken my head at the shenanigans and cursed! It was soooo good!!! 😩😩😩 I didn’t want it to end!
Kannon was my favorite of the 3. But the bond he had with Makayla was swoon worthy. Yes!!! Swoon worthy in an urban story! And as reckless as Jason could be... Lordt!!!
The way B. Love crafted this story was AMAZING! She has proven to be the GOAT for all the naysayers. Urban romance will never be the same after this.

Wasn’t my fav

The book wasn’t bad but it wasn’t good either, it was a lot going on in the book and I thought it would be a little more interesting. I did like that the book was told from multiple perspectives but I didn’t really keep my interest.

Jason, Makayla and Kannon ran a crime dynasty and were some of the trillest on the street. One day, a quick lapse in judgement, changes things drastically for the trio. Kannon was my favorite character, he was definitely bae. Makayla wasn't one of those annoying female leads, which was a good thing to me. Jason was the protagonist or "villain" and even he was likable. I love B. Love and I usually love all of her work, but this book missed the mark for me, and not because I was expecting a love story. This book is urban fiction and definitely had some gangsta stuff going on, but it still felt soft. I heard great things about this book and wanted to love it, but it was just ok.

I didn’t know what to expect going in to this book. I just thought it was gonna be a crazy love triangle, Jason going to jail, and him becoming an informant to get out and possibly turn on Kannon. Boy was I wrong.

Befor I get into those 3, I have to say that Carmen is crazy and it’s partially her fault how everything played out 😭😭😭

OK, so I understand Jason has some type of love for Mikayla, but now that he’s out of jail, it seems like he doesn’t want anything to do with her or his child Austin. Like it took him a whole week to go see his son, when that was one of the first things he was supposed to do when he got out, and now that he’s in her house seeing him, he sees all of the pictures of her and Kannon and Austin and now he’s feeling some type of way. Wow almost every day since he’s been out he’s been fucking on Chyna, like make it make sense like he really pissed me off.

And now he’s feeling some type away because of how Kannon is acting toward Mikayla like all protective and stuff and I think anybody will feel some type away your best friend like moving in on your ex/baby mama but he don’t have anyone to blame but yourself. I was teetering on the edge of who I was rooting for him or Kannon, but when he said that he basically been cheating on Michaela almost a whole relationship like what? He wants me against him.

Jason feels some type of way because he thinks that Kannon and Mikayla should’ve kept Austin a secret from him. But I think him getting her pregnant, trying to trap her, makes up for her decided not to tell him I think she had very valid reasons not to tell him, and I think canon was just trying to keep the peace between both of them like he did her wrong. He didn’t have to cut her off. The only reason he cut her off those because he thought she wasn’t pregnant like he tried to get her.

I have to say, Jason, being mature about Kannon and Mikayla being together was very unexpected. I knew he was going to feel some type of way, but he said he wasn’t going to knock it. That’s crazy to me. I thought he was for sure going to blow up.

He’s crazy because initially to get out of jail, Jason agreed to become an informant, and he snitched on the dirty cops, but then the dirty cops freaking rally together, killing everybody in his fucking organization, trying to get him to either turn his self in leave the city or just kill him basically so the charges against them could be dropped . In the end they ended up killing him and I’m not gonna lie, I cried a little.

So now that I finish this book, I can say that I did not expect that ending. I didn’t expect cannons ending or Jason’s like basically canon set Jason up so everything could end so Mikaylaand Austin will be safe and Jason had a back up plan for if he miraculously lived which he did so he’s gonna build a life with freaking Chyna in China.

This book fully exceeded my expectations. The ending really blew me away. I didn’t expect it to him like that. It was really good. It was great and that’s why I’m giving his book 5 stars.

5 stars. B. Love has done it again! This book was like a good ass movie. Everything about it worked for me. The characters are extremely flawed, complex, and real. The pacing is quick, the action is gritty, the writing is fantastic, and it was entertaining from beginning to end. There’s so much violence, secrets, betrayals, twists and turns and it all had me absolutely enthralled. That epilogue had me screaming! I would not mind a book two in the slightest.

I really enjoyed the main characters. I loved Makayla. She’s down for whatever. She’s the epitome of a ride or die but she also is a loving mother, and she has such a huge heart. Her character development was on point. The wild, street loving Makayla we see in the beginning is still there underneath but she grows and matures a lot throughout the novel which was great.

I loved Kannon. Like, I’m obsessed with that man. He has a tinge of fuckboy about him but once he and Makayla get together he is so devoted to her and that was beautiful. He’s also about his business and doesn’t mind getting his hands dirty and catching bodies but he’s also sensitive and a romantic. I adored him. A thug with a heart of gold. Not for me in real life but dammit I couldn’t get enough of him.

The romance between Makayla and Kannon was everything! It’s forbidden because they want to stay loyal to Jason (the father of Makayla’s son and also Kannon’s best friend) while he’s locked up. Once they give into their temptations it was fire. Their chemistry was amazing and I feel like they really brought out the best in each other.

Also, I didn’t hate Jason. I didn’t even dislike his triflin’ ass and I don’t want to know what that says about me as a person.

I could talk about this book all day. B. Love has yet to let me down and she continues to prove with each book of hers that I pick up that she is definitely one of my favorite author’s out right now.

Promise to keep it Trill by B. Love is a wonderful and beautiful story. B. Love does a good job. It’s well written and it’s phenomenal page. This book is talking about testing your loyalty to your friends, family or love ones.

Jason, Kannon and Makayla are promising to keep it trill to each other. Kannon and Makayla were testing loyalty to Jason but they didn’t pass the test.

I didn’t like when Makayla and Kannon were hiding their secret to Jason. Makayla couldn’t teach Jason how to be love. Kannon was mad at Jason about Jason’s confession but he couldn’t keep it real to Jason about his confession.

I can’t wait to read more books from this author.

Good read:

Where Do I Begin...

Whew Jason was street smart BUT he put a lot of people’s lives in danger close to the end. Kannon on the other hand knew he has to do something to save Austin and Makayla in which I don’t blame him because of what he went through with his daughter. Were both men trill? Yes, in their own ways. I liked how Makayla did eventually have the conversation with Jason regarding she and Kannon being a little more than friends. OH and before I forget about Carmen, she was trifling. I loved that B.Love took the time out to give in-depth storyline to understand each character in who they were and what rolls they played. In the end I’m just happy everyone moved on with their life!

KEEPING IT TRILL

B. Love did a great job with this book. Very well written, great character development and storyline. This book had my attention from beginning to end. I loved the bond between Jason, Kannon and Makayla but I was immediately drawn to Kannon. I loved how he truly was his brother's keeper and the way he looked out for Makayla and Austin. This book had so many twists, turns, enemies seeking revenge and backstabbing that no one could be trusted. Through all the hood drama, heartache, and sacrificing for those involved, there was a happy union to come from it all. But I definitely had my suspicions about that ending. Cant wait to read what B. Love has coming next.

Whew! These are not real people! These are fictional characters! Had to keep reminding myself of that, as I read. I was plotting on getting a girl gang together to take care of Carmen's ole hatin' ass! SHE. STAYED. ON. MY. NERVES! 😡 Loved the trio of friends. Jason was reckless as hell, and you could tell from the jump, he was going to be in some ish! Makayla was just a down ass chick! Kannon! He was that dude! I knew that once Jason caught wind of the secret Makayla had been hiding, he would try to get out. But, that? Nah! He would never do that to get out! Ah yeah, he did! Got everybody caught up in his selfishness, when he didn't have to be there in the first place! That ending tho'! What? You did that B! Great read! 👍👍👍

OhMyGod!

Brava, B. Love, you did the damn thing. I enjoyed this. I loved the development of these three and their relationships with each other. Childhoods traumas caused them to cling to each other. Rare to find blood relatives, let alone strangers who become family to make sacrifices for each other the way Mak, Kannon, and Jason did! Carmen needed to get more than 7 years and Ariel, no comment. Chyna was best for Jason. I'm glad Mak, Kannon, and Jason all got their happily ever after. Austin, what an awesome kid. Thank you for this ride. One of favs, you never disappoint👍💗

B. Love Does It Again

Life can and will throw monkey wrenches in your plans. I believe God really laughs when we try to fix it. Makayla and Jason clung to each other out of familiarity. Sometimes life's struggles will do that to you. But somewhere down the line you have to grow up and out. Kannon always thought he was clear about what he wanted in life. I think he just became content to exist in the shadows. Once again B. Love has managed to draw me in to her characters lives and I never want to leave. This book will take you through the ups and downs of three friends who agree to always keep it trill.......and they did just that until the very end...and beginning!😜

I absolutely loved this from beginning to end. Jason, Kannon & Makayla. Three friends that made a promise to keep it trill. And that they did til the end. This book was fast paced & there were many plot twists. I love Kannon & Makayla’s characters. Jason I have mixed feelings about still lol. I appreciated Makayla’s growth. She deserved all of the happiness she received. I’m glad that everyone got their happy ending. A real friends to lovers book with a splash of hood. B.Love did a great job!

Loyal to the 10th power

Kannan, Makayla and Jason took loyalty to a whole mother level. Bonded through a series of unfortunate events. Someone that loyalty went beyond what was truly best for the individual but they remained true to each other even when they didn't remain true to themselves. This was a different type of book for B Love but I still think it's a solid read filled with several life lessons. One being if loyalty costs you peace of mind and happiness, it may not truly be worth it.

Trill

Sooo no spoilers allowed but I must say that they way things turned out wasn't what I expected but I do believe that the trillest of them all award is definitely shared. They each sacrificed something so that the other wouldn't potentially suffer even though they all suffered. I honestly liked that Kingston and Carlos stayed our it whether business or personal. I can't say that I blame anyone for anything that happened because there were choices made that lead to all the events that happened. Definitely a great read with some realistic challenges

You won't be able to out this one down!!

Kannon is my favorite book bae of 2021 so far!! The bond between Makayla, Jason, and Kannon were strong in a sense but toxic af. Loyalty can out you in situations that are hard to come out of or forgive. I won't lie though I kinda hoped it would have ended like that but I wasn't too sure if it would. There are plenty of surprises throughout the book. There is more than enough love, sex, sorrow, violence, and possible happiness to help you get your urban fiction fix!!

Jason, Kannon & Makayla was like a circle that couldn't be penetrated. They grew up doing the same things & always sticking together. Jason & Mak are a couple but he really always puts the streets first before everything. She deals with it because she knows what kind of person he is. Kannon puts the streets first but has a loving side as well. Things get out of hand one day with one wrong move & it seems everything is all bad from there.
It's action on almost every page as these three friends navigate life & try to keep it trill.

Wow

This story was filled with so many layers. It’s crazy because I just knew that it was gonna be black and white and I would be able to make a decision on who was good and who wasn’t. This really broke down the many layers and dimensions of Love. Love is sacrifice, Love is making choices for someone’s best interest. Love can sometimes mean giving up your happiness for someone else’s. This story was absolutely amazing

I want to start my review off with mentioning the fact that I LOVED this read. From the very beginning, I was team Kannon. Jason was on his stuff too, BUT Kannon was bae. I read some of the reviews prior to me finishing up Promise To Keep It Trill and all I could think about was the twist and turns that were mentioned, but baaabbyyyy when I finally got to it, I wasn't ready. B. Love didn't come to play any games with 2021 in her first release of the year.

Mediocre

Honestly, it took me a couple of days to write this review. I wasn’t sure how I felt about the book, entirely. B. Love is an excellent writer and her work usually just takes you on an unexplainable, emotional, and mind blowing journey. While with this book I was left feeling indecisive about my feelings, the characters, and the book.

Ultimately it was mediocre and I wasn’t impressed. Promise to Keep it Trill was missing something for me.

Slow Read

I purchased this book based on the reviews and was slightly disappointed. I will not say this was a bad book or poorly written because it wasn’t, it just wasn’t my cup of tea. There was no action or anything & nothing to pull out any type of emotions & it took me a couple days to finish it. I didn’t feel a connection to the characters and in my opinion none of them kept it trill.

This has to be my all time favorite from B Love, and I have read alot! The decisions they faced and handled in their own way, each always thinking about the others. I did not feel sefishness from any of them, yeah Jason made a bad move but it was really coming from his heart. I have been on a book hiatus for about 2 months, just nothing caugh my attention. Floored

I’m still over here trying to pick my jaw up off the floor! This book gave me so many old school vibes from your old series I couldn’t get enough. This book took me down and through it. But my bae Kannon was a real one! I have mixed feelings about Jason. He wasn’t who I thought he was at all! The plot twist were real! Sensational!
