Lacking in as much of the bewilderment you feel reading the antics in previous books.
I have enjoyed the Prison days books immensely, but I am sorry to say I have to drop a star on the book, as I felt it lacked some of the intensity of previous books, however it was still a page turner, just would of liked more bizarre stories from the characters he encounters in his work, as it is to most people , like hearing about a different planet, this read a wee bit more like a log book, so for that reason sadly I am afraid I will have to remove a star, as it doesn't quite live up to it's predecessors. However I will still look forward to the next instalment. Didn't think it mattered one jot which country in was set in, had worked out that it was Australia from the river names, the different sections of the Prison was called, as I said it is far removed from what most people experience that it could of been anyway. Despite my removal of one star, I will still look forward to hearing more from Simon
For me it was a interesting book as my grandson worked at the jail for 5 years now. And of course I worry about him all the time. He don't always tell me the bad stuff that happens there. This book tells the all what really happens in prison and how the inmates are housed and so forth. Also tells of all the problems they cause that the guards have to deal with often. Not very pleasant I might say . Its all the truth here.
I have now read all seven books of this brilliant series. I is good to read about a correctional services offers work and different situations are dealt with in a day to day basis. The way the books are laid out as diaries make for easy reading. Simon King also shows a lot of compassion for a lot of the "crooks" . The overall content leaves waiting for part eight to be released. The books I found had a lot of humour as well as sadness.
Even with the holidays the stories still come and still don't fail to shock. I admire all the men and women who perform these jobs in such an environment. The author does a great job of shining a bright light on the day to day life.
Total respect to those of you who do this job. Tethered and tied by political correctness etc yet expected to take all thrown at you without murmur. Couldn’t do it myself hence great respect to you all.
I truly love how matter of fact these books are! I like how you (the reader) can form their own thoughts and opinions on what is happening. Again this book highlights the immense dangers that the officers face each and every shift
I chose the highest rating because youve kept me entertained and excited to read more. When Im not reading I find my mind wondering whats going to happen next.
I’ve read every single one of these books. I look forward to Book 8. I enjoy the inside look of life behind bars and the interesting characters. Thanks again, for sharing your story with us.
