Command & Care #6

Pretty Puppy

Rate this book
Breaking Daddy Lee’s heart wasn’t intentional, but Ash has paid the price in misery ever since. Surely, a teensy little lie and a bit of scheming to get Lee back won’t backfire…

Ash first met Daddy Lee when he was a young pup and just beginning his kink journey. If only he hadn’t been so flighty and full of himself, he could’ve seen what a rare treasure he had in the handsome older Dom. But now that Ash is back in town, he’s determined to make Lee’s heart go pitter-patter again by being the best doggone boy ever.

Five years ago, luxury resort owner, Lee Petrovsky, fell too hard and fast for the pretty Asher Griffin. Ever since then, he’s resolved to seek out only older, more mature boys. There’s only one problem—no one has ever crushed the walls of steel around his heart the way Ash did. That doesn’t mean he’d ever take him back, though. No one makes a fool out of him and gets a second chance.

Can Ash prove to Lee that this time it isn’t just a case of puppy love?

Pretty Puppy is the fifth book in the steamy Command & Care M/M Daddy romance series and can be read as a standalone. Each book shares a common theme, but no characters overlap. If you like puppy play, and a strict Dom whose heart melts for his boy, then you’ll adore Morticia Knight’s second chance romance.

This was a fluffy and easy read. The characters were simple and didn't have a lot of layers.

Asher and Lee were together about five years ago, but it didn't work out. Asher decided that he wanted more experiences before he settled down with one person for good, so he left. Lee, who is older, stayed behind and tried to move forward, but he couldn't forget the one that got away.

When Asher finds himself in a tough spot, he decides that it's time to try getting back together with Lee. That's something he had been thinking for a while but didn't make a move until now.

He comes up with a plan he finds genius in order to approach Lee again. In reality, the plan is bound to crash and burn as it's based on him lying and pretending to have skills he doesn't have.

I enjoyed the story up until their confrontation, but after that, the story became much too sweet for me. Also, Lee seemed to forgive and forget very easily and he was ready to jump straight away at a second chance with someone who hurt him deeply. Their getting back together happened too easily, too effortlessly and too abruptly.

I love a good second chance story, but in this one it seemed like Asher decided to pursue Lee again only after he came at a dead end in his life and found himself with nothing. Sure, Lee was in his mind a lot throughout the years they weren't together, but he didn't make a move until his life came crashing down. Seems like Lee deserved more.

Lindo, dulce, romantico

It was a short book...142 pages. I loved the setting of the Pet Play event. I knew there were pups, but never knew there were kittens and even horses. You learn something new every day if you read enough book:) Asher doesn't think of the consequences that might occur as a result of some of his ideas. As a result of his latest one, he almost blew his chance with Daddy Lee with his outrageous plan to get him back. Since he had already spent the money and brought all his belongings, he should have just gone and seen Lee and apologized and told him how much he wanted to be his "pup" again. Of course, that would have made an even shorter story. I laughed so much during Ash's attempt to train the pups. What a visual that was!! The Command & Care series has been an entertaining and enjoyable venture into a world that few people outside of the Lifestyle even know exists. Good work Ms. Knight.

Pretty Puppy
is the 6th stand a lone in the Command and Care series by Morticia Knight. This is my first time reading Morticia Knight and I really enjoyed the author's writing and story telling.

Ash first meet Daddy Lee when he was 19 and learning how to be a puppy. They both fell hard for each other but being so young, Ash thought he had to play the field before he found a forever master and broke Lee's heart in the process. It's now 5 years later and Ash is ready to settle down and the only one he can see himself doing that with is Lee, who he still very much loves. He concocts a ridiculous plan to put himself in Lee's path. Lucky for him, Lee still loves him just as much and forgives him when Ash's plan goes sideways.

Pretty Puppy
was a little fluffy and a whole lot steamy. The first half of the book is Ash finding his way back to Lee, and the second half is them making up for the past lost time. Their reunion is actually low drama and seems to happen fairly quickly, and it doesn't take too much for Ash to convince Lee of his feelings. I absolutely loved all the actual puppy play scenes in this and that we had POV from Ash as Chase in his puppy headspace. On top of the puppy play there's spanking, toys and fisting.

Pretty Puppy
by Morticia Knight is a quality puppy play, Daddy/Boy, second chance romance. I'll definitely be checking out the author's back list and seeing what other kinks she has written!

Pretty Puppy by author Morticia Knight is the 6th book in the Command and Care Series. I would read these books in order. For me makes the experience that much richer and they are all amazing you will not be sorry you did.

For me Ms Knight is one of the go to authors for me. She brings heart and soul to her characters. The BDSM elements just add to the intimacy of the book in such a way that it brings me closer to the characters. I truly love that.

I love this story for its redemption theme and for exploring who you really are and growing into a better person.

Ash has broken Daddy Lee’s heart. Five years ago, Ash was his sub. And well Ash was not ready for a commitment to one person. He was young and needed to know himself more.

I like where we find Ash now. He is a mature man, flawed but has a heart you cannot help but love.

Lee, he is old than Ash by a lot. But I feel he had a lot of self-awareness to find before he was truly ready for Ash. I love where we find him in this book, he is a Dominate with a pure heart I could not help but cheer for.

Overall, this is one the best books I have read in a long time. I love the connections I have to characters, and for me romance is about falling in love with the book and characters, this one more than does that. I cannot wait for more in the series in the future. I highly recommend this book to any romance lover I think you will be surprised at how much you really love it.

I actually cried during parts of this book. I felt like I had been on an emotional roller coaster by the end of it. Second chance romance is not one of my favorite tropes but I love Morticia Knight’s writing so I gave it a try. Although I’m not into being a puppy myself I identified with this book in that I said no to a man who I met when I was very young, just like Ash does in this book. Unlike him I called the guy back nine months later and we have been married for 36 years now. As I was reading this book so many of the feelings and regrets that Ms. Knight writes both Ash and Lee as having rang so true for me. Even as I was laughing at some of the things that Ash does I remembered that same desperation to get back what I had. I really enjoyed this book and my only complaint is that I would have liked to read more from Lee’s point of view. Other than that this is a very readable and enjoyable book.Four woofs from me!

So, I was really torn over how to rate this book.

For one part, I found the puppy play cute and entertaining. I wish there'd been more of that. I loved seeing Ash "training" the other puppies.

On the other hand, I found it difficult to connect with Ash and Lee. Ash felt a bit mercenary about it all at first, finally going back to Lee because he was down on his luck. The lying and plotting didn't help matters at all for me. Then we have Lee, who felt a bit blah to me. Frankly, I was disappointed he gave in so fast and forgave Ash after an impassioned plea. I needed more groveling, especially after what Ash put Lee through, sorry, but being young is no excuse.

Anyway, even if the romance portion didn't quite work for me, I enjoyed the puppy play and the writing, so it was not a total loss.

Firstly I must say how much I love the cover!!

Ash travels to Tahoe to try and win back his Daddy/Master who's heart he broke 5 years ago.

Daddy Lee is a sweet and successful resort owner who still pines for the boy who left him.

Ash makes some questionable decisions which makes us wonder how he expects it all to work out... his optimism is enviable.

This is a hot and sexy journey of forgiveness and trust. It's a  second chance kinky love story. It's written in a way that although it's not a long book, you still feel the connection between Ash and Lee.

I felt sorry for Ash at the beginning. He had been through so much. It has been hard for him for the past several years, since he left Daddy Lee. The thing was, it wasn't bad with Lee, and he really still had strong feelings for Lee, but he might have torched that bridge irreparably.

On Lee's side, he's never been able to replace Ash, because Ash was basically perfect. He'd like to forget Ash, but it's impossible.

I thought that Ash's scheming was cute, but it went a little too far sometimes. He needed better ideas, for sure.

I have thoroughly enjoyed other books by this author and they have become a must read for me, but this one just didn’t have the same feel as the others.

I’m all in for second chances but this felt very deceitful and petty, then took little effort for forgiveness. I didn’t really see any redeeming qualities in Ash/Champ at all and did t feel the spark between him and Lee.

Pretty Puppy is the sixth book in the Command & Care series by Morticia Knight. This book is about Ash and Lee. Ash left Lee 5 years ago. He was 19 and thought he needed to go out in the world. Now he's back to try and win his Daddy back.

I really liked their story. It was sweet, sexy, full of feels and very well written.

“I’m yours, Daddy. You have my heart, my body, my devotion. Anything and everything you want. I love you.”
^ Page 66.

That was my first book with a deeper level of pet play than I've experienced in a book before. If I'm being honest, collars and butt plugs I can get my head around but I'm awfully confused about the rest of it.

This isn't any judgement to anyone into the lifestyle or into this book.

They kept saying puppy gear and I didn't entirely understood what that meant or what was part of that. Dressing up as a dog in a costume from the sounds of it with a hood?

I was also very confused with the animals and name changes. When Ash was dressed up as a dog he went by Champ? Dog and cat I can sort of understand because again with the collars and stuff I've read before, but this one mentioned a horse and a hedgehog?
Quick question, how does that work? A hedgehog? A tiny creature that rolls along as a ball of spikes and lives in people's gardens?
The horse part I kinda just pictured that video of that woman wearing horse gear and being trotted around by her partner.

Then the "adoption" process? 😵‍💫 (Head is spinning) I'm so confused. Then again it is currently 2am and I started this just after midnight so maybe I'm exhausted as well? I'm over sharing.

Anyway enough of that, moving on.

In terms of plot, apart from Ash and his sister arguing in the first chapter we never hear anything more about her? I would've assumed Lee would've been more demanding and protective about where Ash has been for the past 5 years considering that he's been in love with him the whole time. Instead he doesn't even know that Ash is in debt to his friends and been practically homeless bouncing between people.

Also I noticed that Ash states that they were 19 and 33 before they split up. Then it was five years later? Why does Ash later tell Owen that Lee is hotter in his thirties then his twenties? Surely he would've been a minor or not known Lee while he was in his twenties? Might've just been a slight error but thought this was necessary to bring up.

Overall, not much judgment as I'm not a kink shamer, but this level of pet play just wasn't for me. But I did enjoy the rest of the book.

I really enjoyed Lee and Ash's second chance at love, even if parts of their story didn't make sense to me. It was clear that Ash genuinely regretted the way he left Lee initially, but I wish there had been more context in the beginning about all he had been through. Without it, I had a hard time viewing Ash's harebrained plan to get Lee back as anything other than a disaster in the making. I honestly expected things in Tahoe to turn out much worse than they did, but even with Ash's half-successful run as a pup trainer, the whole thing didn't sit right to me. I don't understand how Lee was able to forgive Ash so quickly, and the way they picked up their relationship effortlessly didn't match up with my expectations. Ash had built his betrayal up into such a big deal that to have the two of them express their feelings and let all the bad emotions go in the span of a few hours felt more like a confusing letdown than a happy reunion. I can't deny that it was adorable to watch Lee and Ash reconnect with each other, and after I shook off my confusion I did enjoy the rest of their sweet bonding moments. It was fascinating to get such an in-depth feel for what it's like to be a pup, and Champ's exuberance was pretty cute. I do think this book could have benefited from a few extra chapters to show how Lee and Ash readjusted to living together, but even without it their happily-ever-after felt pretty magical to me.

**I voluntarily read an ARC of this book. This review expresses my honest thoughts and opinions.

Story: 3.5 Stars

Ash (24) and Lee (38) have never forgotten - or gotten over - each other in the five years since a then-immature Ash shattered Lee's heart. Now, with his life turned upside down, Ash reappears in Lee's life hoping to make amends and rebuild the best relationship he's ever had.

This second chance, k¡nky, age-gap romance has a Cinderella-meets-Sugar-Daddy vibe to it, as Daddy Lee is wealthy and his former boy/pup Ash is in dire straits when they reunite. Ash using deception to get back into Lee's orbit gave me a murky impression of his motivations at the start, but his scheming was made understandable and highlighted just how desperate he was to reconcile with his former Daddy/Master.

For me, their reconciliation came too fast and easy though, and I would've enjoyed some additional build-up, perhaps with some flashbacks, to heighten the emotional stakes and get to know both MCs better. Given the emotional devastation their breakup caused, I expected Ash to be more determined and remorseful and Lee more bitter and reluctant, but their HEA was satisfying nonetheless.

I most enjoyed the bits of puppy play sprinkled throughout, and there's also some over-the-knee punishment and f¡st¡ng, if that's your thing. The gorgeous cover art also deserves its own shout-out. I received an advance reading e-copy of this book and have left this honest review voluntarily. (Also read in KU.)

A beautiful book about a second chance
Ash’s life was just a mess. If he was honest with himself he it had been since he had left his daddy Lee five years ago. And now he decided he wanted to get his man back so he came up within elaborate plan to get employed at his luxury resort and work as a trainer for the puppies.
Lee was getting ready for his luxury resort to home a convention for people who had a unique kink. He was getting ready for Doms/ Daddies and their pets ie puppies kittens ponies and even a hedgehog To descend on them. It was his favourite time of the year. He had recently decided to let go his puppy because his heart just wasn’t in it. And if he was honest his heart hadn’t been in it for five years since he had lost ash. So when he sees him again he is shocked that deep down and if he’s honest with himself then feelings haven’t gone away. But can he trust his heart to ash again??

This was it a really nice book to read. I really enjoyed both characters and how open Ash left his heart to get his man back. But also it took a lot for Lee to trust him again. And put the past in the past a really nice book to read. Their Chemistry was off the charts don’t want really want my heart was the fact that they were meant to be together just perfect for each other.

Sweet and heartwarming - two people find their way back to each other

This was a really solid book. Lee and Ash were very relatable; they were genuine in a way that I like in that they weren’t perfect. Ash in particular makes a lot of mistakes. Some are because he is immature (I don’t view it as a matter of age but maturity as there are plenty of young people who would have been far more mature than Ash was). He has expectations/stereotypes/societal expectations dictate what is important in respect of the most intimate parts of his life and suffers for it. But he came across as someone who simply needed to mature. Yes he hurt Lee (that man is a saint) but it never came across as malicious or careless. My main... complaint I guess, and what stops this from being a five star read was I felt we should have had more time seeing Ash warm Lee’s trust back. It didn’t have to be anything other than seeing more of Ash showing he was sincere and being honest and forthright, perhaps simply more time with them together. I didn’t want more grovelling per se, simply a little more evidence in action rather than words (action which didn’t involve scheming no matter how amusing that could be). Definitely a good book either way though!

Utterly delightful.

This was a new to me author but I couldn’t resist the allure of a pup. I really love the pups. And what an adorable pup Ash/Champ was. He was everything I love about pups: silly, free spirited and a little mischievous. Lee was a perfect combination of Daddy/Master. While being stern , he knew how to balance it with playfulness and excellent rewards.

I loved how this was a redemption story for Ash. He knew he made a terrible mistake 5 years ago when he walked away from Lee. To be fair, he was barely 19 at the time and no ever makes the best decisions at that age. I was glad that, eventually, Lee was able to see that Ash was sincere in his regret and they were able to re-build something that had been lost. I liked these two together a lot. Ash was written in a way that he seemed genuine and real, and it lent an air of authenticity to him.

There was a whole host of characters to meet as well. Micki and Owen were delightful and Shane was fun in a mercurial way. This was a fairly fast paced book, but I didn’t mind it at all given their history. The was a delightful read.

I struggled with this one. The two MC’s separated 5 years ago, and each have struggled with failed relationships ever since. Both loved each other, and still do, and were unable to successfully move on. Reunited under some shady circumstances (and a really funny cover story), the two work through those issues in under a few hours across a few pages of the book.

I liked the characters. Ash is a bratty puppy with a ton of energy who loves to play. He’s obviously not the best at making decisions and you get the feeling he definitely needs the guidance of his Master/Dom. So much unrealized potential in the character. Lee didn’t stand out as much, but also had a lot of potential. The focus just never moved to him enough to get a clear understanding of who he is or what he’s like, beyond being completely in love with Ash. The premise of the story was great, and the supporting characters were funny and friendly.

The various elements just didn’t come together as well as prior books in the series. It felt a little rushed and could have used some more content.

I absolutely loved this book. Once I started reading it I couldn't put it down. It was a quick read that was sweet, no angst, fast paced, fun and a little steamy. I was hoping it would be a little more steamy. There is one scene in particular that should have been super steamy but I found it kind rushed which really put the heat out IMO. These 2 were so sweet and so clearly perfect for each other from the start. I love 2nd chance romance and this one was definitely worth it. They had great chemistry. I would have liked if the story was just a bit longer so we could see more of their relationship develop even though they were all in. I just wanted to see more of them before it ended. While I thought that this was a wonderful d/s, Daddy/Boy, 2nd chance romance I didn't get the feel that this was a puppy play book. Given the title some might be disappointed. That aspect seemed to be focused on the side characters and not so much on their own dynamic. That's prob the main reason I didn't rate it 5 stars.

Asher Griffin first met Daddy Lee Petrovsky when he was a young pup and just starting his kink journey. But he was flighty and full of himself and so left. But he was miserable and never stopped loving him and he is now back in town hoping that he can somehow get him back. Five years ago Lee fell too hard and fast for pretty Ash and since then he tried to only seek out more mature boys but no one has ever crushed the walls of steel he keeps around his heart. Can Ash prove to Lee that this time it isn’t just a case of puppy love?

I enjoyed this story with Ash trying his best to get back to his Daddy and try to start again (if he can only get a second chance with him). I liked the way that Ash's plans failed but Lee was able to find him and give him the chance that he needed. It was also nice to have it centred around the Pet Play at the Lake events which have their own series. This was easy to read, feel and understand. This is an MM story with mature content and a BDSM-like DDLB dynamic with spanking and puppy play.

Thank you for the ARC read, I voluntarily give this book an honest review. Wow, just wow!  Was Owen right about this whole thing being a terrible terrified idea? It's hilarious reading Ash act like a pup trainer, all while trying to keep from squeaking.  I was on pins and needles waiting to read the out come after the shock and hurt made way for a second chance of love.

Dragging Own and Micki into his scheme, just very well backfire on everyone.   Five years ago he had ran, telling himself lies just to get through it. Can hisDaddy Lee forgive after the way he left, just to think it was going to be  easy just to waltz right back into the man's life. Was the pup ready for some much needed discipline. A shock was about to greet Lee's eyes in the form of the last person he cared to see. Was Ash just telling him of his remorse now to get something and Lee's holding back, connecting was hard after the young pup that broke him.

Enjoyable age gap romance set in a world with several fun, interesting secondary characters. It’s a second-chance-at-love story where both MC’s have spent years trying to forget the other, without success. Ash’s life hits rock-bottom, and he hopes to turn things around by trying to get back together with his first love, Silas. Ash still seems a bit irresponsible for his age and doesn’t really think before he acts, getting his friends to lie for him, not a wonderful quality, though luckily he sees the error of his ways and does better afterward. The puppy play is well written, cute and playful. My one concern with the story is that they don’t exactly talk things through, and I didn’t get a really good feel for why they loved each other or how things ended between them the first time. That being said, Silas and Ash are affectionate and sexy together and do come across as a good fit for each other.

Pretty Puppy was not my first book by the author, but it was my first book in the Command and Care series.
I really like Morticia Knight's writing style. I got into the story quickly and really liked the two characters.
Ash and Daddy Lee were hard in love with each other until Ash went other ways. Five years later, Ash is still mourning that relationship and after hitting rock bottom, he plans a reunion with Daddy Lee. Unfortunately, not everything goes according to plan.
I enjoyed Pretty Puppy, though it almost went a little too fast for me when the two got back together. The author could have made more of it. But before that there was a bit of drama and the puppy play was nicely described. Despite the not always understandable reactions of Ash and Lee, it was a lot of fun to read this book.
It's about second chances, forgiveness, a daddy relationship. If you like that, I recommend this book!

This was definitely a spur of the moment read for me! I found it on Amazon as a “recommended for you” and decided to see what it was all about!! The title alone had me very intrigued!

There was so much in this book that I had never read before, and it was a nice palate cleanser-type book for me! It was cute and so wholesome for the amount of kink in it!!

Ash sets out to get Daddy Lee back after he left him five years ago. His plan is absolutely absurd but it totally is something Ash would do! There was not a ton of layers to these characters and I would have loved more groveling on Ash’s end when he got back in touch with Lee, but this book is very fast paced so it made sense how quickly things progressed! The spice is there—fisting?! Whew! I have never read it in a book and I was enthralled!

I enjoyed this book quite a bit! It was a cute second chance read, and learning about and reading new kinks was super fun!!

I loved this book! The story of Lee and Ash is filled with love, loss, a bit of sass and second chances. They were together five years earlier until Ash went out to play the field. Lee was heartbroken and never truly let anyone else in. Five years later, Ash is filled with regret and with no place to go, determined to show Lee he has changed and get a second chance. Hairbrained shenaningans follow as Ash takes a job at Lee’s resort he is in no way qualified for in order to get back in Lee’s sights. What follows is a wonderful story of Ash finding joy in who he is and showing others how wonderful it can be. It will be a bit of a bumpy road but with his show of sincerity, Lee is willing to give Ash another try and neither one of them will regret it!

Ash was only 19 when he and Lee hooked up. Ash was so cocky and believed he knew himself
better than anyone; especially Lee. To his regret he abandoned Lee to look for greener pastures for
himself. Lee was left desolate. Move forward 5 years and the light finally dawns on Ash as to just how wonderful his and Lee's lives were together. He schemes a plan to get himself back into Lee's life and arms. Ash is desperate to make amends to the only man who ever meant anything to him. But Lee is still reeling from Ash's abandonment and when Ash shows up at Mountain Lake Resort Lee must force himself to harden his heart against Ash. Secondary characters add a good reading sense to this plot, namely Ash's best bud Owen, his Master Rick, and that sunshine character Micki. A dismal character is Ash's sister Brooke.

Such a great story! The main characters are likeable and unique, the story so well written you can feel the intensity of their emotions and passions sucking you into the book.
Ash is quite the handful and tends to not quite think things through - but in this case, his crazy plan eventually works and he wins back the heart of Daddy Lee. Ash and Lee have a couple stumbles once they are reunited but their connection is truly genuine, their chemistry is off the charts, and both are so deeply in love that an extremely satisfying HEA is inevitable. This is an entertaining and enjoyable story that I would definitely recommend. It has playful puppy fun, great friends, a second chance, and some seriously nsfw scenes that are so deliciously steamy.
