A business arrangement turned more...

Lewis

I've been a free spirit my whole life, bouncing from project to project.
My parents gave me everything I ever wanted, except the attention I craved.
I spend my days for the next high, for the next thing to keep me busy.
Until I think up a business opportunity like no other.

But what happens when I discover that there's another part of me that I didn't know existed?

A part of me that longs to be cared for...

Mateo
As an investor, I'm always looking for new ideas.
When someone happens to reach out about an abnormal investment, I can't help but to be intrigued.
I come up with an idea - a risky one.
Meeting the person needing my help only adds to the thoughts swirling through my mind.

But can I convince him that the risk is worth the cost?

And will he truly be able to let me lead... to let me care for him the way he needs...

The way only a Daddy can...

This is the first book in the Club Deny series. It can be read as a standalone with no cliffhanger.

Why?

I was excited to read this book, but it left me feeling perturbed.

Why does this author insist on writing age play stories that have little to no age play? Why even bother making Lewis a little when there’s literally no hint that he is one and the relationship between he and Matteo is basically just a Daddy/boy relationship? There was no hint in the blurb that Lewis is a little. It was really unnecessary to the story and I wouldn’t be knocking off stars for it if it had been left out. They have s*x for the first time in a playroom, but there’s no play at all!

I’m also confused as to why we knew so little about Matteo. We were given very little of his background and former Daddy/boy relationships...or if he even had any.

There were a few inconsistencies within the story such as Lewis and Miguel meeting in business school, but Miguel told Matteo they’d been friends since being in diapers.

This book had so much potential. Beyond the little/age play issue, the actual relationship development happened off page and we got the Cliff’s Notes version. I expected and hoped for more and this book just left me hanging.

I almost skipped this one and went straight to Tuck & Run, the book I originally started this series for. The only reason I didn't was because it's mentioned at the beginning of Tucker's story that something happened at the end of this one that I needed to go back and read.

I'm glad I read it.

I didn’t love The New Hire. Everything just happened so fast in that one.

Things happen fast here too, but not Miguel and Aiden fast.

I absolutely loved Mateo. He knew exactly what, who, he wanted and he had no problem going after it. I liked Lewis too. He was a little lost when it came to certain things, but thankfully Mateo saw exactly what he needed.

While things started quickly with these guys, their relationship was actually allowed to grow over time, totally unlike the guys in the first book.

I adored Mateo’s assistant and will read his story.

My heart broke for Tucker, Miguel’s assistant. I’ve loved him since the first time I saw him in Bailey. I’m really eager to see him and Patrick come together.

I’m not rating this higher because there were quite a few inconsistencies throughout, along with several obvious typos. I also didn’t quite understand Lewis and Miguel’s friendship. At one point, Miguel saves Lewis from making a bad business decision, which was good. What wasn’t good was how he kind of treated Lewis like a child. I felt that he was quite rude during his first visit to Club Deny, Lewis’ and Mateo’s new club, like he was looking down his nose at it. He ended up meeting and falling for Aiden in the club, so it worked out, but I felt that the way he treated Lewis at times didn’t exactly fall into the ‘best friend’ category.

This a Daddy/boy story with ‘littles’ being mentioned. There’s one sexual encounter in a ‘little’ room, but that’s literally as far as it gets with any type of age play, other than Lewis calling Mateo Daddy, and Mateo calling him boy. What was done in the ‘little’ room was all sexual, no ‘little’ playtime or anything like that.

Even so, I enjoyed it.

This was bad. I don't know how it had such a high rating. Here's a list of some of the problems I had with the book:

The conversations in this book are often unintentionally stilted and awkward, especially between Mateo and Patrick. It's like the author doesn't know how friends talk or something.

In the beginning, it's mentioned that Mateo inherited all his money from his grandfather because, "he left me a king’s ransom to help me cope with the fact that the rest of our family were homophobic idiots... tell them I like men and they lose their minds." Then at the end of the book, his parents are super supportive and loving, and absolutely thrilled to meet Lewis. There is never any mention of what happened to cause this turn around, or even any mention of it happening at all.

There was this nonsensical use of a slur, "I notice a man in the middle of the dance floor moving like a gypsy." That's offensive, and it doesn't make sense. How does one move like an entire ethnic group?

I can't tell if Lewis misunderstood his friend, or if he was just following really stupid advice by finding an investor (one who doesn't seem to have experience in what Lewis is looking to build) when he has the money to do the thing himself. That means he's giving away capital (and therefore money).

The book implies that dominants basically have super powers when it comes to reading people. I was not a fan of how frequently it happened, nor the idea itself. From the book: "These men all see everything, even the smallest of actions, and can decipher the true meaning."

It's weird for a character to be mentioned to be wearing vegan leather shoes because of an activist they previously dated, but eating venison.

"The doctor said it was a heart attack for my brother and a broken heart for his partner." I find it unlikely that a doctor would diagnose someone as having "a broken heart" unless it was literally broken.

Lewis encounters his incredibly homophobic parents at an LGBTQ fundraiser, and it's never explained why they were there.

Pretty Bland

This story has no energy to it. Nothing major or exciting happens. Outside of Lewis calling Matteo Daddy, there's nothing Daddy/ litte about it. Even if it was meant to be Daddy/boy, there still wasn't much. Matteo tells Lewis what to do 2 or 3 times at best, but truly it's just saying the word "Daddy" with no understanding of the actual dynamic.

Maybe because I'd already disconnected from the characters, but I found the Club they founded to be bland as well. It's for the super rich. How many "boys" are wandering around so wealthy they'll be able to afford membership. Most times boys are younger (not all, but most). So I couldn't help imagining a club full of older men sitting around together while all the boys they want to meet are forced to stand outside unable to gain entry to this uber expensive "club."

The fact that the GRAND MAJORITY of clubs that allow BDSM don't allow sex, also let me know this author is just capitalizing off the kink trend (particularly Daddy/boy and Daddy/little) without really getting it. Nothing about Curtis (Matteo's AA) or Lewis screamed Little. And the vague way the Club is described makes it all feel lacking and screams a vanilla book that's been dressed up to seem like it's kinky.

It's not.

Spoiler
Well. I was able to finish this one. Honestly? It was almost like it was written by a completely different author in regards to how smooth it flowed. In comparison, their other work is just dreadful. There were some editing/grammatical errors but they weren’t a struggle to move pass. I didn’t care much for the beginning of the book stating that MC1 received all his money from his grandfather because the rest of the family shunned him for being gay and yet at the end of the book MC1 had a loving relationship with his parent. It made zero sense without any explanation. Eh. Still. Pick up one of their pen pal books and you’ll see what I mean when I use the term “dreadful”. It’s sad too because the Princess little trope isn’t found as frequently. *sidenote* Littles were mentioned and I thought this would be a Daddy/Little book but there wasn’t anything other than the mentioning of it and the term Daddy.

Lewis bounces from project to project and having been starved of attention as a child he discovers another part of him that could do with someone who can ground and care for him. Mateo is an investor looking for new ideas. When Lewis reaches out about an abnormal investment he can't help but be intrigued, especially when he comes up with an idea which is risky, but can he persuade him that the risk is worth the cost? Can he also let Mateo lead as his Daddy so that I can care for him?

I enjoyed this story with the loving and generous side of life in Mateo's family with the cold and uncaring side of Lewis's family. I loved the way that Mateo gave Lewis the time and help to investigate fully before any kind of commitment as well as the way that he was careful to take care of him and make sure that he was looked after properly. They were a great couple and it was great to experience the way they met and got together. Easy to read, feel and understand. This is an MM story with mature content and a BSDM-like DDLB relationship.

Not only were there grammatical/spelling errors, this blurb for this book is so misleading.

There is absolutely no Daddy/little kink in this book at all. It’s almost like the author lied to get people to read it. That is my biggest turn off from an author. I’ll never read or suggest one of their books again.

The only reason I decided to read this book was because of the moment in the book with Miguel when Lewis tells him and Mateo about being attacked. I was super excited to read about it from Lewis/Mateos POV, but imagine my shock when that scene is nowhere in this book. That’s so annoying. If you’re going to overlap scenarios in different books, you’d better make damn sure the story stays consistent.

I’m so annoyed and my time was wasted on this one. I won’t even consider reading the rest of this series. And if I see this author pop up in a multi-author series, I’ll be sure to skip their book.

Cute story.

Straight party playboy meets daddy Dom investor. Lewis has always been the out loud fun guy. So trusting. Thank goodness for his friend Miguel who try to steer him straight. Meeting a coffee barista who recommend him to his investor who could help him in actually invest in something worthwhile. Miguel who is a investor who see something in Lewis well more than just an money investment. Though he propose to Lewis that he would like to be his investor but with a twist. He wants Lewis to be his boy. Well this wasn't something that Lewis would have considered since he has always believed he was straight. Well it a good and fun story you just have to read.

Pleasantly Surprised

This was my first book by this author and I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. Lewis and Mateo are introduced by a mutual friend to fund a business venture and there is something there but Lewis has always considered himself straight until he meets Mateo. Mateo sees the submissive in Lewis and pulls out all the punches to awaken that side of Lewis while also wanting to explore a Daddy relationship with him. Their journey is sweet. Very low angst with a HEA and an epilogue. Lots of characters to continue the series.

Okay

The story and characters had potential but several moments had a build up and then didn't happen and were mentioned as happening off page. They were referred to as Daddy and little but there wasn't any moments where Lewis gave any hints of being a little so I'm not sure why that term was used several times

Meh. The sex was hot, and I liked the guidance that Mateo gave to Lewis, but it bugged me how often someone said something about Lewis being a little when this has no age play. Clearly this is a Daddy/boy relationship, not a DD/lb at all. I'm not sure if I'll read the next one or not, even though it says it has age play...

Lewis gets a surprise in Daddy Mateo

Lewis's life is spinning out of control and he doesn't know what he wants to do with it. Then he is hooked up with Mateo and he gets everything he had been looking for maybe more. This was a fun story to read and looking forward to the next book in the series.

So, who isn't "HOT & BOTHERED" after reading this story?

DANG, too bad all of us can't/couldn't find the ONE that LOVES, CARES & WANTS AN EVERLASTING RELATIONSHIP WITH US! All the emotions came out. That's why I read books and live vicariously through them! Lol! THANK YOU, A.W.! ENJOY!

It was a nice book, but the relationship between characters doesn't look like Daddy/Little at all. And oh, Mateo's family is homophobic in the beginning, but very nice and welcoming in the last chapter. How???

I love how unique each story is!

I am so glad that Lewis was able to find someone who understood what he needed before he did and was willing to be patient enough to help him. Mateo is a good guy and I am glad he found Lewis.

He knows about kink but as soon as Mateo mentioned it he has no idea what it is and the characters backstories are not consistent but besides that it's a really good story

Fun, sweet and sexy series. Books could be read as stand-alone but better in order as the MC's show up in each other's stories.

I loved it!

I wanted this story. I knew it would hit me in the feels. So far the best but I’m thinking Tucker’s story will give it a run for its money.

Decent start for a series. A bit dry and formulaic & the spice of the day was decidedly vanilla (sad panda). We met promising characters for the next installments tho.

Hot and Bothered

This was a great story of a party boy looking for a purpose for his life, and an older established daddy who is longing for a boy. A chance meeting with a certain coffee shop owner leads to their meeting, and things get rolling from there. There is timeline overlap with the first Club Deny series, but it works, and there is a sweet romance and a great HEA! I can’t wait to read the next book!
