Reyna and Lorcan have won the war. But for how long?
The death of Unseelie’s king has unleashed a curse across the realm. Soon, every fae alive will end up bound to its dark magic.
Meanwhile, the allied courts reject peace, convinced the curse will spread north.
Haunted by heartbreaking bargains and terrifying prophecies, Reyna must finally face the truth about the godlike magic inside of her. She might be the only one with the power to shatter the curse and unite the courts once and for all.
And if she fails, darkness could rip apart the very fabric of her world.

What an awesome book it was a page turner right from the beginning. I love Lir and Eislyn chapters the best but I also love how she put most of the main characters together travelling and adventuring together. Such a great read can’t wait to start the next one.
I saw that twist about who the Namhaid really is a mile away, but this book was still incredibly entertaining with nonstop action. Also, EislynxLir is my favourite couple (sorry, ReynaxLorcan). I hope we get more of Eislyn's POV in the next book.
This book is an exciting continuation of the ongoing story of Reyna and Lorcan and their friends as they continue their fight between Good and Evil. More heartbreak is thrown at Reyna as she tries to solve a dangerous problem that affects them all.
However, I didn't like that Thane was practically nonexistent. He was such an important character and now he just seems to be a puppet. And even though I like Eislyn and Lir together, their growing relationship seemed rushed and forced. I also wonder where Princess Etaine and her three older brothers are (characters mentioned in the first book). Where had the entire royal family of the Wood Court gone to?
I think this has been the best series that Ms. Wolfhart has written so far. I absolutely enjoy reading this series and I'm never ready for it to end. I definitely look forward to the next book.
Bro. This book. This fucking book. Lmao I don’t know how I’m going to write this review but we will try.
Okay, so let’s start from the top. The things that happened in this book made me keep turning pages while simultaneously wanting to throw this book into the pits of hell. Jenna suddenly got better at spinning a plot but not that good. How dare she intrigue me for five seconds just to slap me on the face with some utter bullshit.
This book made me actually like Reyna. Which is shocking because I didn’t really care for her or her perverted ass lover in the three prior books. But I really liked Reyna going around with Nollaig and the whole plot with Lorcan. But there were so many plot threads wafting around that it just ended up feeling messy. I guarantee you that the two fucking sub plots could’ve been scrapped and we’d still have the same story.
Eislyn did a whole lot of nothing and I don’t recall if I made an actual in-depth review for books one and two, but I’ll just give my thoughts here. I used to like Eislyn. I liked her a lot. I liked her and Thane together, I thought they’d be something then Jenna tore them apart and gave us a shit romance instead. There was absolutely no reason to include Lir. For the better part of this book, Eislyn and Lir did all of nothing (just like Mariel in every book so far.) for the entirety of the book and their romance? Please do NOT get me started. Ok I will get started.
Did I happen to miss the hundred and hundreds of pages that showcase the love story between these two? Because it feels rushed. Lir has done NOTHING to warrant Eislyn loving him. She’s literally got Stockholm syndrome between last book and this book. This guy is a dirt bag. Who likes him? Who is defending him? I want to know why anybody would want to. If you defended this man at court the judge would rule you and him do dual sentences for all his transgressions. Under the jail with you. He’s done nothing to deserve even one singular fuck given his way. If I saw that man getting mugged in an alley I would help the mugger because what the fuck do you mean he suddenly loves his wife and wants to be with her? And she’s beautiful. Sir are we looking at the same woman??? Eislyn looks like Cynthia from Rugrats right now.
I can’t wrap my brain around it. I’m supposed to believe that over the course of a potential month or so that Lir and Eislyn have a love that transcends time and space? After he made her marry him against her will??? Especially when she hehe haha’d and he got mad about it. Also what the fuck was even the point of the marriage? To keep her hostage??? He’s Fomorian he just can use magic. He could’ve just bound her magically to the castle or something stupid. When I tell you that they did absolutely nothing but go to Innishfall, ask question, eat hot chip and lie?????? They barely even did that. Come the fuck on now. They’re just in there because Jenna didn’t know what else to do with them and wanted some weird toxic relationship for absolutely no reason.
Speaking of not knowing what else to do with someone, Mariel Dalais has to be the most useless side character I’ve ever fucking seen. She’s worse than the goddamn shopkeeper from Lightlark. Iykyk. What was the point of her being around for so long. Don’t even get me started on her cringe ass impersonation of Eislyn a while ago. Now you’re flying tits out around the forest. And for what. Ok. There was no reason for Mariel to keep having a POV and showing the fuck up.
I HATE GLENCORA!!! I HATE HER!! GLENCORA JF YOU HAVE NO ENEMIES IM DEAD!!! I hate YOUUUU. I can’t say anything more I’m going to get mad.
I enjoyed this book, and the rest of the series. It’s fantasy romance so there can be elements that I think are cringe or campy, but I don’t think that should detract from how invested you get in a book; not everything needs to be like rocket science to read. I do think it could have done with some better editing; I noticed a few typos and places where the phrasing maybe could have been better, but again, it doesn’t really make the book less interesting. I definitely think this series could be condensed into like three books, because it didn’t seem like much happened in this one and the pacing might be better that way. Another issue I had was eislyn and lir’s relationship. I actually like the thought of it after reading the last book, but I think it progressed way too fast and doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. I like the twists that have been built up, although I pretty much knew who the namhaid would be since the first or second books. Generally I like what Jenna has been doing with the series, and I think she’s a good author but maybe just needs a better editor lol.

1st reading: When Glencora started acting not like herself in this one, I knew who she was - although I should have figured it out when she woke up. The Eislyn/Lir plotline was interesting. The whole thing with Lorcan was excruciating. I was hoping, of course, that she wouldn't have to kill him, but I knew she'd have to - because what's the worst thing that could possibly happen? Having to kill the one you love. Plus, Seelie had told her she'd lose him, and this is pretty much what he meant. If she'd chosen Unseelie, she and Lorcan would have reveled in the darkness together - but with Reyna being who she is, we knew that would never happen. After all the talk of "very rarely has anyone ever returned from the Court of Death," (or it might actually have been only one person), I KNEW that when Reyna was forced to kill Lorcan, he would find a way to come back. (Plus, I believe there was something stated about people *choosing* to come to the Court of Death, which I noticed he'd also done. So obviously his returning will be one of the plot lines in the final book.

Holy cow! The twists in this book were so good! Frustrating, but so good. I just want Reyna and Lorcan to be together and happy. I didn’t like that Thane was practically nonexistent. He was such an important character and now he just seems to be a puppet. And I don’t like how he and Eislyn are just done with one another. It seemed like poor planning on the author’s part. And even though I like Eislyn and Lir together, their coupling seemed rushed. Everything about Eislyn and Thane’s dissolving relationship was rushed and forced. The story progressed well and was very powerful but the whole book seemed a bit rushed. I love all the banter and the continued friendships. I love how the world just keeps getting bigger.
Just when things are supposed to be settling down, a curveball is thrown and all hell breaks loose. The action is pretty much non stop, with a vital mission to save the world and Reyna's heart. But it keeps appearing more and more likely that she can only save one and not the other. This one's a heartbreaker. I thought it was bad in previous books, but this one had the tears free flowing. 😂 Speaking of flowing, this book flowed much better than it's predecessors and made for a much more immersive experience. Fewer pov's made it much easier to lose yourself in the story and really live it. Can't wait for the epic conclusion, Realm of Ashes. 😍
It has love, happiness, and more. Well there were tears also. I knew Lir was in love. It was quick, but so very good. I knew he'd follow her, or hoped. I feel sorry for Thane. Poor boy can't catch a break. Was gonna marry a girl, that wanted him dead! Then he starts to have feelings for another, but she ends up in love and married to someone else. Finally a 3rd girl comes along, they get married and she ends up being a demon! Maybe good thing they waited to have sex after all! But poor fellow! But Reyna has her heart broken again, that's where the tears come in at. Ready for number 5!!
Oh my what a book!!! You think everything is coming to a head and whack a curve ball is thrown at you. The emotional rollercoaster this whole series has taken me on could not have prepared me for this book, so full of action, so full of feeling, a story so completely captivating that it has left me needing the next book right now!!! Absolutely brilliantly built word and charter growth, I absolutely can’t wait and I’m in a mega book hangover and If you haven’t read this series it is a MUST READ!!
This book is an exciting continuation of the ongoing story of Reyna and Lorcan and their friends as they continue their fight between Good and Evil. More heartbreak is thrown at Reyna as she tries to solve a dangerous problem that affects them all. This book is well written with detailed action sequences and intricate scenes. It was a very easy read and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I honestly don't know what to say. This book was brilliant... it destroyed me, but it's brilliant 🖤 so many things I saw coming and kept hoping I was wrong 😕 so many things I didn't see coming and those hurt even worse. I am very interested to see how everything ends and where my friends end up, but I am now terrified of everything Jenna writes 🤣 I'm still going to read them, but... I'm scared, y'all 😂
...then this book is going to twist his plot in ways you didn't see coming in past books. Reyna again is front and center with the strength we saw in her in book one. Then there's a scene here that puts your predictor sense on overload, and then you'll find out the your prediction is accurate. Lots is mayhem and violence in this book and final chapters foreshadow another fine mess!
Omg! This book literally breaks your heart! And makes you want to punch something repeadly. I started to get the sinking feeling of the Namhaid and was proven right! We get multiple POV's which I love! But its a race of survival and in the end it's really just the calm before the even bigger storm. But that epilogue!
OMG! I guessed who the Namhaid was correctly at the end of book 2! I won't reveal it here. WOW! It seems that Lorcan is freaking immortal. I hope he comes back AGAIN because i did tear up at his death this time, which is weird because I hated him in the first book until the sex scene. BRAVO! I CANNOT WAIT FOR THE FINAL BOOK!
DNF at 27% I knew at the end of the previous book that things were going downhill and I strongly questioned whether or not I should even pick this one up… Regret. Such regret. The story is just a dumpster fire at this point, everybody acts like they’ve been lobotomized and the previous books didn’t even happened… The narrator was starting to really grate on my nerves. Save yourself from this one.
Wow! All I can say is wow! I’m left speechless at this end of this emotional story! This dark heartbreaking installment paves the way for what’s going to be an epic conclusion to this powerful series. I can’t wait! I mean I really can’t I need the next book now!
What a great continuance of Reyna’s adventure!! I’m so in love with both Reyna & Lorcan, it’s not even funny! This book is filled with twists you won’t be expecting & you’ll love every min of it! Thank you Jenna, for another great story!
This series was slow to start for me, but has easily made it to my top five. Rich in story with a touch of sweet love and so many what the fucks, I'm a little sad and so so hopeful to start the finale.
Man this was one crazy ride! I loved the action and adventure within this story line! So much heart break for Reyna.. Hopefully she will find love again.
So much angst in this one. I'll admit that I've seen some of these twists coming for a while, but they were still satisfying once they played out. Nervous and excited for book 5!
uuuuh wtf was that ending??? overall this is a good book, the pacing was a bit off and the story is starting to get REALLY repetitive but other than that it was good
This felt like the longest book ever because there seemed to be no end in sight for all their problems. I don't know if that's a good thing or bad thing.
