Bone Knight #2

A Doomed Fight and Not So Great Landing

Rate this book
No risk no reward... but also no dismemberment.

Max has made powerful enemies who will stop at nothing to hunt him down and stuff his skull into a trophy case. The smartest thing would be to get as far away as he can, fast. Yet there's a village of goblins asking for his help and they're offering something tantalizing in return: an airship.

Should Max try to be a hero, even though he knows his win over the paladin was a fluke? Should he risk his boney neck on the off chance he can score a sweet low mileage propeller-driven dream? Will he find some half-decent gear that he can actually wear? Or will it all come crashing down.

I am Tim Paulson, writer of fantasy and science fiction.

I'm currently writing the Bone knight litRPG series. It's fun to revisit the game worlds I enjoyed when I was young. I grew up with Final Fantasy, Mechwarrior, Dragon warrior (known to many as Dungeon Quest), and X-COM. These games, along with a whole lot of movies and books, have informed what I think is cool: Impossible odds and grave decisions with monumental stakes.

Bone knight book nine, the finale for the series, is currently underway. After that is complete, I have a new litRPG series already planned that should come out in time for Christmas 2022.

Also: Audiobooks are on the way and a Boneknight RPG game is currently in development.

If you've enjoyed my books, please leave a review.

Thank you!

-Tim

I did it again! I told myself I would only read a few chapters at a time. Instead I found myself reading basically the entire book in one sitting. The series really grabs a reader right from the first page and keeps you at it until the very end. There is just so much action! There are chapters of building momentum, high intensity fighting, new character introduction, more momentum...you get it. I was never bored, confused or uninterested in the content. I like Max so much. He is hilarious and his dynamic with Raeg makes the story in my opinion. I think I could just read the two of them chatting and be entertained. I find it sort of awesome that they are a lonely party of two and nobody wants to join them. But what a strong duo! You have Max that is the brains of the operation, sarcastic, witty and the bleeding heart. Raeg is the muscle, aggressor flirt and kind of volatile one. I love the two of them together and I like seeing them thrive. This book was not as nail biting as the one before. It was basically them kicking butt the whole time but I loved it. I also love the addition of a tentacle friend that I hope to see more of. That could be really cool. Looking forward to book three!

I have read books 1 to 7 in 7 days. They really are awesome, and each book seems to get better and better. Though they are very short books, more like novellas, they are filled with action and fun and are a joy to read.

I strongly recommend you buy, read and enjoy these books. The author obviously had a lot of fun writing them and that comes across in every word, every beautifully crafted fight scene, every verbal spar, and in all the joy and pleasure of levelling and character growth. The world building seems to progress naturally with the story and across the books, so no info dumps. For me the author gets the balance just right.

The Hunter and Paladin from book one have both been brought back to life and are steaming mad and hell bent on vengeance at any cost. They pursue Max and Raeg to their new refuge and burn it out from under them. This gains Max a reluctant new ally and sets him on another collision course with the Paladin.

So this is just a massive let down.

The main character is your classic weak isekai with an undisclosed superpower. That part is fine. What comes after is not. He does not think, plan or try to gain any information of the world he has been thrown into. His companion is a moron, and not in a loveable way, in an irritating way. The action is slow, the overall plot is non-existent. At the point where the main character told his entire story to a merchant stranger and bargained away half his companions blood against his strenuous objections I was done.

Book two

Another short fast read. Fun little books, but I'm disappointed by the lack of loot. For someone that is supposed to have scoured games for loot he hardly looks anybody that he kills.

Pretty good

The companionship between Max and Raeg is a bit annoying (I just get annoyed that Raeg just yells at people to shut up and eats) though I think that I can see a good friendship and team brewing. Overall I enjoyed the book and am looking forward to more.

This one was a nice continuation of the story in the first book. I also found it considerably more entertaining. With that, I'll be reading more in this series, I like the story, it's amusing.

Still an interesting twist on the classic tale

I like Max and Raeg continuing to bond. And the more we find out about the light, the more gray the world becomes. Otherwise, lots of running and screaming. Fun times for everyone!

No so good

Got tired of the main character the side kick was more interesting than he was whining about this or that plus the writer forgot that it was a skeleton not a human

Just Great!!!

The author has an amazing talent for pacing and the characters are so likable and hate-able depending on their personality. This is turning out to be a great series.
