This book is a great first read for elementary to young middle school aged fans to read. It's not too complicated, short (so not an overly long drawn out story), and the characters and story line are clean and basic, which will make it extremely readable for the young fan. I think there could be a small bit of editing done yet to sentence structure but there is nothing wrong with it's writing style. I enjoyed the story and, though, the characters are described pretty basic, I think the non complicated world building is perfect for the YA Fantasy fan. I know I would have eaten it up and wanted more if I were young and not old with tons of reading under my belt. If you have a young one new to the fantasy genre this would be a great starter introduction to the fantasy world and might just make them a lifetime reader!
While I agree that this story could use a bit of editing to polish it up, it did hold my attention and keep me turning pages. It’s a good start to the series. We have a solid background on the characters, the world building is more than enough to grasp the situation and the action flows. I am quite curious to learn what happens with Vandryn.
Pretty good start to the series. A good edit would really tighten up the sentence structure and make this series a good one for everyone, not just young readers. World building has a good start and characters are colorful and memorable.
Keep up the good work and this will be a great series!
