For millions of fast-paced, modern households, the old cookbook standard of "serves four" is increasingly outdated and a daily nuisance. With more than 77 million baby boomers adjusting to the Empty Nest Syndrome, and with their adult children setting up their own new homes, there is a mounting demand for quick, easy, healthy recipes yielding fewer servings.
But cooking for two people or even singles isn't as simple as cutting a recipe in half. In EatingWell Serves Two, the award-winning editors and recipe developers for America's leading food and nutrition magazine have created 150 dinner recipes from their hugely popular "Healthy in a Hurry" and "Serves Two" columns to meet the specific needs of smaller households.
More than a cookbook, EatingWell Serves Two provides a smart guide for how to shop in small quantities, how to store leftover ingredients, keep a well-stocked pantry and use easy cooking strategies that result in minimal waste while putting a healthy, delicious meal on the table in 45 minutes or less. Filled with mouthwatering photography and tips on shopping, planning and simple cooking for two with healthy ingredients and without waste.
I am simple person. I enjoy cooking and baking a lot. I receive emails from Eatingwell with healthy recipes which I save to try. We are trying to cut down on eating red meat and lard/butter. And eating more fresh vegetables and fruit. So when I came across this title I was excited to borrow it from my local library to see if I wanted to buy it for myself. The recipes were just too fancy.
Keeper cookbook. Reviewed these recipes again and found many to try. Written specifically for two servings, the book offers a great opportunity to downsize with healthy and easy meals after so many years of cooking for a family.
LOVE this cookbook. Really interesting recipes that are easy to prepare. I have made numerous recipes out of it from all meat groups and even a vegetarian and each were pretty yummy. Really happy that I made the investment in it.
I have had this book for a number of years but have only started to really use it in the past few months. My husband went on a diet and requested main dish dinners to be 300 calories or less. This cookbook allowed us to easily do that without skimping on taste. We now have incorporated at least ten of these recipes into our regular two week rotation. They are easy, most are quick, and they are tasty too! I have so many cookbooks I never use but this one now is on the top of the pile as I am grabbing it multiple times a week. I will have to explore if there are others, I'd love one that serve four and one that has crock pot meals.
I know it's weird to review a cookbook, but seriously, this is the best cookbook ever for those who just want to eat good food without spending all day and a hundred bucks. This is the only book you need for stovetop cooking. Easy to make, food tastes good, nothing leftover. Easy to double the recipe for 4. Yum.
This is just the best cooking for two cookbook I've ever encountered. In addition to the recipes being tasty, there are practical suggestions for dealing with the inevitable leftovers created by cooking for two. And the instructions (too simple, really, to be called recipes) for side dishes are excellent.
This recipe book is tops for me. Many of the meals and ideas were exactly the type I was looking for, eating healthy but with good taste. I think I marked and wrote down over 30 different recipes. Love them, love it!
This is probably my very favorite cookbook. I use it every week. Being single, it is so great to finally have a cookbook for people like me. The recipes are healthy and yummy. I highly recommend.
