This is a Romance Suspense, and this is the third book in the Moving Violations series. I have say this book was very disappointing for me. The first little bit of the book was a little bit of romance then there was a lot of steamy romance. I have no problems with steamy romance parts, but this book the characters basically just jumped in bed with each other. I also do not think two main characters of this book had chemistry or fit together. The suspense in this book was so low until the last 15% of the book. What I want from a Romance Suspense is a good mix of Suspense and Romance, and this book just did not have that mix. I also did not connect to any of the characters of this book. I am very sad that this book just did not work for me. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (St. Martin's Griffin) or author (Lora Leigh) via NetGalley, so I can give honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

Deliciously hot with some added suspense.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Leigh has become a go to author for me. I get lost in her stories every time! This one is no different.
Her characters are always so well matched. She does not shy away from the heat and passion that develops and builds the relationship. Her stories are in-depth and interesting! I just devour her books! So why wouldn’t she be a go-to?
This story is a romantic suspense and that is one of my favorite genres to read. Her Renegade Cowboy was a bit light on the suspense portion and this would totally be a 5 star if it would have been ramped up just a bit. Overall, I loved the story! The secondary characters add so much to the development of the book as well.
Her Renegade Cowboy is a fun, smexy, and all consuming story that is so worth the read! Check it out!
Third verse, same as the first and second. I probably won't be reading this author again. There was literally nothing I liked about this book, or the first two in this series, for that matter. Since the book was written with a very strict formula, I'm going to give you a formula review. This one from the second book in this series. "This is the third book in the Moving Violations Series and My review is basically the same as for the first and second books: Lots of hot, steamy sex and a fairly good plot, what little there is of it. I would say that it is about 75-25, sex vs plot. But I do have to say that I was very intrigued by what little plot there was. Lots of angst, repetition and you really need to suspend reality in places." I will also say that I absolutely hated that the heroine didn't trust the hero to take care of himself, let alone her. Nothing changed this time around; except I lost interest at about 25% into the book. By the time any real action happened, I had already checked out.
Levi is every reason to read this book. I have found that this author always provides the type of dominant, take charge heroes that I love, and she never makes them feel the same. You don't get the same man with a different name. You clearly can see the difference in the men but they are all very much a man.
For the most part, I also enjoy the heroines in her books but I will say Lilly was not an easy character to like. She's been through a trauma that has made her very guarded and defensive. It's understandable but also hard to enjoy. For me, that didn't matter all that much since I'm all about the hero.
Overall, I have really enjoyed this series. It's not your typical cowboy trope. They all have some military/law enforcement background and they know how to protect the women they fall for. The suspense is well written and not predictable.
I don't want to say the best thing about this book was the cover but... the best thing about this book was the cover.
I liked the idea of a romantic suspense between a former army ranger turned US Marshall working an undercover case as a cowboy and a small town school teacher recovering from a traumatic past.
That being said, early enough in the book it becomes obvious the story edges more toward Erotic than Romantic but more over never quite delivers on the Suspense. I wouldn't mind the extra heat usually as I don't believe romance and erotica to be mutually exclusive and actually like my romance extra hot, BUT, the hero's behavior and motivation for engaging a sexual relationship with the heroine were TACKY.
If you can forget the fact the heroine is a survivor of sexual assault still undergoing night terror episodes and accept that a law enforcement figure would breach all rules of conduct and ethical codes to satiate his libido by giving free reign over his lust for a heroine he barely glanced at, all but neglecting the very task he was sent to observe —protect the heroine, keep an eye on her from afar— then you'd enjoy this renegade—only in name— cowboy.
The sex was hot though nothing memorable and certainly not good enough to make up for this oddly paced and poorly plotted story. Miscommunication and secrets deliberately hidden by an insufferably silly heroine finished to kill it for me. Who in their right mind would refuse protection from authorities when a murderer is let loose and seeks revenge from them? Not smart people, that's whom.
3.5 stars, but I'm rounding it up because well.......Lora Leigh. Her alphas and her smut are always on point and right up my alley!
This book is about an undercover US Marshall and a school teacher who after going through something horrific helped put the bastard away, all while under "Jane Doe", so that she could keep it private. At this point only 2 people in her life know she went through it and she wants it to stay that way.
Lily went from feisty, fun, loving, wild to a very feisty, closed off, untrusting. And I didn't blame her one bit, at least in the beginning.
Even though we know from the blurb, I personally forgot that Levi was undercover in the beginning of the book. The way it is written and the way the storyline fell, I totally spaced it. But he is there to keep her safe. But the moment he sees her, he realized that keeping this "just business" might be a lot harder than he would have ever imagined.
The first 1/4 of this book was a solid 5 stars for me. But sadly, I was in kinda a bitchy mood when I went to finish this book yesterday.
(because well life is fucking life lately and kids/husbands can be frustrating as fuck).
So that might have flowed into my feelings of this book so please takeall of this with a grain of salt.
This book got a little ridiculous for me and while it was still written so well, I still loved Levi and liked Lily. I started to fucking want to throttle Lily more and more as I turned the page.
Why you ask? Well as you know from the blurb the guy she put behind bars has escaped from prison, they want to put her in witness protection, but she declines. Fine, girl you do you! I'm okay with that. BUT..... She also decided not to tell any of the bad ass ex CIA and military that are constantly around her that trouble is coming.
Girl I get not going into WITSEC, why the fuck are you keeping this a secret. Bitches need to suck up their pride and get help for crying out loud!
IT IS NOT WEAK TO GET HELP! IT MAKES YOU FUCKING STRONGER YOU FUCKING TWIT!!
Okay, sorry. I know that was a little moment there, like I said it's been a rough couple of days and needed to get that out.
Minus that bit of ridiculous crap, this book was still good. I just wish the "secrets" between these two were spilled earlier and then the book could have been about the actual suspense of this guy escaping from prison and not a the "I need to tell him"/"I need to tell her" bullshit that happened. Which they never tell them, they just always ended up fucking each others brains out, so I guess it was fine.
Like I said, minus being frustrated with some of the actions of the book it is still Lora Leigh, it is still awesome writing and it still has awesome sex scenes. I'm really excited for Shay's book, or the Culpepper boys those are going to awesome!
ARC received for review
We've meet Lily in the previous book. I wanted her to hook up with Justice Strong, Silent Cowboy but Ms. Leigh finds someone new for her (I'm kinda of glad cause Justice was an arse in this book). Levi falls for Lily and has a lot of work cut out for him to get her to fall for him. Lots of drama, angst, adventure, sexy times, and action as they hunt the bad guy.
Now is Justice and his brothers going to get their own books....as long as Justice stops being a major pain.
Her Renegade Cowboy is the the third novel in Lora Leigh's Moving Violations series, and while it's somewhat of an improvement over the first two novels, both of which I gave 1-star reviews, I found that while it was a little less disjointed than the previous novels in the series, it was still a problematic read for several reasons, which I'll get to, and I am giving it a 2-star rating.
My first problem is the title. Levi, the hero, is a member of the U.S. Marshalls Service, not a cowboy, although his cover is working on the ranch belonging to Lily's uncle, nor is he a renegade--he's a lawman. He's been sent there undercover to protect Lily, the victim of a vicious, psychotic rapist and murderer, one she testified against in court, and whose testimony helped send him to prison. He has recently escaped from prison with his cellmate and one other prisoner, and the search is on.
After giving her testimony against her former mentor and professor in court, Lily refused to enter the Witness Protection Program, and she is now teaching third graders in the same small town in California where her uncle has his ranch. After hearing of the prison break, she again refuses any and all protection. She lives alone, but is close to the two heroines from first two novels, and it's on her uncle's ranch where she first sees tall, gorgeous hunk, Levi, who, in violation of his job's code of ethics, ends up in her bed without much effort on his part. Had I been the traumatized victim of a brutal rapist/murderer, the last thing I'd do is jump into a sexual relationship with a total stranger who just started working on my uncle's ranch--but once this couple gets into bed, that's pretty much all they do together. While the author is well known for her smoking hot, graphic sex scenes, the speed and frequency of them in this novel was way over the top, especially since Lily, who is an abuse victim, one who still has nightmares about her attack, is usually the aggressor.
My other issue was Lily herself. She's one of the most passive/aggressive heroines I've ever encountered, and I've been reading romantic suspense novels for over 30 years. She's sweet and flirty one minute and totally nasty the next. Levi refers to her as sassy, but I viewed her as bitchy. While I've always liked snarky heroines and strong female leads, Lily is the exception. She never really tells Levi the details of her abuse until near the end of the novel, so her over-the-top, nasty reaction to finding out that Levi lied to her about why he's there, and that he's really a U.S. Marshall sent to protect her rather than being the ranch hand that is his cover story, is beyond hypocritical.
Once Lily's attacker contacts her, does she then seek protection? Of course not. Instead she decides to go after him alone and unarmed, telling no one where she's going, and evades Levi, who is following her on the highway, which is something else which made little sense to me. Luckily, she finds a handgun under the driver's seat of the truck she's driving, but does she use it as soon as she confronts her attacker? Again, of course not--one of many stupid decisions she makes in this novel.
So, two people in lust/love at first sight, too much graphic sex and not enough time for the hero and heroine to really get to know one another, a heroine with zero common sense about her own safety and protection, and the only thing that saved this novel from a one-star review for this reader was the suspenseful ending. Yes, it's got an HEA ending, but it was too short, too abrupt and really needed an epilogue. Ms. Leigh has written some excellent novels over the years (not in this series), but this isn't one of them, and I cannot recommend it.
I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this novel. The opinions stated are my own.
At first I didn't like Lily, she really annoyed the heck out of me. Levi kept saying she was sassy and he liked that about her but I just found her mean and rude. It wasn't until the middle of the book that I could stand her and could deal with her and was glad that they got together I mean Levi was after her like a flea on a dog. I dont think I was used to Lora's books being so sexual, but hey who doesn't like sexiness. I didn't know that this was the third book, I am assuming that we are going to get her sisters book next.
This one has me a bit torn, I liked it, sort of felt like it was a recycled story line, which then left me a bit bored at times. When the bad guy finally came for Lily I was glad, we would get the big show down, which came right after Lily found out Levi left out one small thing, the reason he was there, which turned out to be not so small. Leaving Lily pissed off and fleeing from Levi. But with all that being said, I do like how this one ended.
She had her chance at Witness Protection. She chose to reject it. Is her life in danger now? Why is Levi Roberts working on the ranch Lily Donovan's cousin Jacob owns? Could Lily's past be about to meet her front and center? Is it too late for Lily or could the man that once nearly killed her get his chance to finish the job now that he has escaped from prison? Levi is an undercover wrangler. He is an ex U. S. Army Ranger, now he is a deputy U. S. Marshal and a part of the fugitive recovery task force.
Both Lily and Levi have secrets. She intends on keeping her past a secret, and Levi intends on keeping his purpose of being in her life a secret. However, they are both drawn to one another, and this is from first glance. More than knowing the danger that Lily is facing, Levi can sense her trauma. Levi must determine whether or not to act on their growing feelings for one another in order to do his job.
While The Renegade Cowboy was the third book in the Moving Violations trilogy it did quite well as a standalone novel. Having not had the opportunity to read the first two books I was able to be fully invested in the story, all while having a very good idea of the previous couples in the first two books.
I did enjoy the suspense in this story once it started to kick in. My only reticence was the overabundance of steamy scenes. As the book began its focus on the danger that faced Lily, it grew stronger.
Many thanks to and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.
CW: This story included a kidnapping, and attempted rape.
Lily has hardened her heart from ever dating again, after suffering trauma from a deranged mentor. Seeing her cousins new ranch hand unlocks some desires she hasn't felt in a long time. Levi is there to do a job, keep an eye on Lily. She has refused witness protection so he is there to watch but don't touch.
With watching over her, he has enjoyed seeing the feisty sassy side of her and can't hep but want to protect her. Both are keeping secrets, Lily hasn't told him of her past but when her attacker escapes from prison Levi is determined to keep her safe. His secret of being an undercover US Marshall is potentially going to push her away but her safety is his priority.
This story had some very steamy scenes, with high stakes. I loved seeing Lily own her strength and Levi being the alpha protector. The ending was tough to read but I am glad Lily got the ending she needed. If you are ready for a high paced, steamy read this one is for you.
I received an arc for review via NetGalley all opinions are my own and given freely.
Thanks to St Martin's Press and NetGalley, too,
For my copy of this book, here's my honest review:
Wow, what a suspense filled read this proved to be
With a great sense of community and family.
A teacher, Lily Donovan, has learned not to trust
And to her, keeping her secret just why is a must.
So when Levi Ranger catches her eye
Dare she open her heart to give him a try?
They both have secrets but their attraction is strong
Can they keep safe as they try to get along?
Lily knows that she's in deadly danger
But feels save with Levi, though knows that's stranger.
What will happen when the secrets are revealed?
How will others react to what they've kept concealed?
There's a great sense of family for Lily and Co
They look after each other wherever they go.
The danger is always around as she' the target of a killer
Making this story a truly gripping thriller.
I enjoyed this page turner with its mix of suspense and romance
And hope you'll also give it and the early books a chance,
I really enjoyed this story and am sorry I didn’t read it sooner! Lora Leigh has written a poignant story about some difficult subjects including physical, sexual, and mental trauma. Although this story does have some serious possible triggers it also brings a passionate romance and the unadulterated healing aspect of love. This is the first book I have read from this author and I am already eager for the next book. Lily and Levi’s story will keep you captivated from beginning to end, I highly recommend it to those who enjoy a sexy cowboy romance.
Lily Donovan had a traumatic experience in the past, and when she finds out the cause of that trauma has escaped prison and may be looking for her, she decides she wants to deal with things on her own. Levi Roberts is a Federal Marshal who was sent undercover to keep an eye on Lily.
This almost seemed like two books - because after we learn that bit of plot, the next 75% or so was a lot of sexy times with a tiny bit of plot and a lot of main characters angst at keeping secrets from each other. The last had some good suspense and action. So, loving vs. liking this book may depend on the mood or preferences of the reader. I just don't like angst much, and I kept wanting to scream "just tell him / her already!" And for me, the sex scenes were just too much - but again, that is 100% reader preference/ mood.
Thanks to netgalley and the author and publisher for letting me read an advance copy of this book. I for sure think Lora Leigh is a talented writer!
This is a very sexy story that has Lily, a survivor of violence, and Levi, the undercover US Marshall sent to protect her. He's undercover because Lily has rejected all assistance from the marshals when her attacker escapes, so he's forced to keep who he really is a secret. Lily just wants her life back and to recapture the woman she was before the attack.. Sparks quickly fly when Levi and Lily meet, but they're both keeping secrets that can threaten the foundation of the tenuous relationship they're beginning.
I loved the story and was totally engaged in it. The characters were compelling and the author made me care about them and feel invested in their getting a HEA ending. However, for me, the explicit sex was over the top and consumed far more pages than you would expect in a novel. It really, to me, took away from what would otherwise be a great book. So, for the story itself, 5 stars, but 3 stars for the redundant explicitness, leaving an overall rating of 4 stars.
“Her Renegade Cowboy” is a first time read by Lora Leigh, a new author to this reader. Not having read the first book in this series, I thought this the second was just a really wonderfully written story and a delightful read.
The story centers on Lily, a school teacher who carries a secret that she has only told to a few within her circle. Upon hearing that the person she helped put behind bars has escaped, she decides that she does not want the help of the sheriff. Unknown to her, Levi who has been hired by her cousin as a ranch hand, is an undercover Marshall sent to protect her regardless of what she wants. Although Lily plays the strong and independent type, I enjoyed how Levi chipped away at her shell but not appearing interested in her at all...which made her second guess his motives. The heroine is a likeable character who is strong but yet cares about those close to her and no harm coming towards them. Once you continue reading through the story, it provides a better understanding of why she holds this secret close to her. I too liked Levi as her protector although he was a bit selfish with not telling her who he really was in order for their relationship to continue to grow without any complicated lies. As always, I do like a bit of steamy between my characters and the intimate scenes did not disappoint between the H/h.
This was a well-written story by Ms. Leigh but would have been a bit better if the angst could have come a lot sooner. There is mystery, suspense, and romance. I truly enjoyed the plot and the pace that gets you to that happily ever after. Looking forward to reading the first in this series and reading more from this author. Recommend the read.
Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for this ARC in exchange for my fair and honest review. All opinions in this review are my own.
Book three in the Moving Violations series introduces readers to U.S. Marshal Levi Roberts, who's working undercover on Jacob Donovans Ranch, so he can help apprehend an escaped convict that has ties to Jacob's cousin Lily, who Levi has taken a fancy too and is desperate to protect especially as she's refused to enter WITSEC and hasn't told any of her family about the danger she faces.
And with plenty of hot sex this is after all a Lora Leigh story 😉 threats, danger and some suspense Her Renegade Cowboy was an enjoyable read that I'd certainly recommend to others.
Quick thoughts review:
Both Lily and Levi had past trauma, which never seemed to affect either of them appropriately, making it feel almost unnecessary. Levi was undercover and only acting as a cowboy, which felt like false advertising.
Strong Romance - With A Couple Of Issues. As a romance book, this one works. It has the all the requisite parts and even a couple of the optional ones - clean/ sweet crowd, you're not going to like all the XXX sex in this one, and there is more of it here than many romance novels, even those that include such scenes. As a bit of a psychological drama, it still kind of works, with the female lead clearly having issues she needs to work through. As a suspense... well, the only actual action here occurs in the last few chapters, the rest of the suspense here is more of the "looming threat" variety. Which works well enough here, but never really makes the pulse pound.
No, there really are two primary issues, one of which has been mentioned by at least one other reviewer and the other of which no existing review on Goodreads mentions: First, this is a female who it is made quite clear fairly early on (to the reader) has been assaulted. While there is indeed a fair amount of studies and even anecdotes of this turning the woman a bit promiscuous - for a variety of reasons - the more general feel seems to be that women become much more closed off to sex after this, particularly when still struggling with dealing with the events - as our female lead here is. And yet, the sex scenes here start pretty damn rapidly once she and our male lead connect. Again, in-story, it works well enough. This is mostly a "wait a second" level observation after the story, at least for this reader. (For others, it may well be a true game-stopper.)
The other issue, that hasn't been mentioned in a Goodreads review yet, is the constant mention of a gun's "clip". NO! It is a "magazine" or "mag". It is NOT a "clip", and a former Army Ranger and current US Marshall would *damn* well know this! Still, even with this rather glaring example of complete unfamiliarity with the subject, it is one that readers similarly unfamiliar with the subject would think works reasonably well within the story.
And then there is the whole thing about this being titled as a cowboy story... and yet there is very little cowboy'ing happening here. Other than a ride inspecting fence posts, the rest of the "ranch" scenes could pretty well have any other location as their base of operations and the book would both read and work the same, almost without any even word changes.
Still, these are mostly more observational level issues that didn't really detract from the book - other than the "clip" / "magazine thing - and the story itself, even with the magazine issue, is pretty solid with an action packed ending. And despite being marked as "Book 3" here, it actually works quite well as a standalone, which is how I read it.
Very much recommended.
Her Renegade Cowboy is the third book in Lora Leigh’s Moving Violations series. Second grade teacher Lily Donovan had a traumatic event occur in college, which is only alluded to in the first quarter of the book. This annoyed me as I did not know if it had occurred in Book 2, which I did not read or the author was purposely being elusive. I think it would have been better to have it occur in a Prelude. Her family doesn't know what happened, but that she had changed when she was away and came back a shell of herself.
The book starts off with her assailant escaping from prison, but she refuses protective custody. Enter handsome Levi Roberts, retired Army Ranger, current U.S. Marshall, sent to Deer Haven to keep an eye on Lily. His undercover job is as a ranch worker on her cousin Jacob’s ranch. He falls for her right away, a definite no-no, and she is very attracted to him but is now wary of all men. Soon sparks fly, but will Levi be able to do his job? Both are keeping secrets from the other, too scared to mess up their blooming relationship. What will happen when they wait too long and the secrets are revealed at the worse time?
It got a bit tedious with Lily's indecisiveness and her temper forcing her to make poor decisions. She is surrounded by "alphas", but is afraid to put them in danger, so puts herself in danger instead? Also, no matter how gorgeous and likable Levi is, still recovering from an assault, why would she be so quick to jump into bed with him? I really like the cover, but Levi is neither a renegade or a cowboy..
Although this is the third book in the series, it reads as a stand-alone.
Lily Donovan, an elementary school teacher, has a secret that only two other people are aware of, but this secret has cost Lily. She's not the same person that she once was and she's much more guarded than she used to be.
Levi Roberts gets hired on Lily's cousin's ranch, but Levi has a secret of his own. He's quite taken with Lily from the first time he lays eyes on her and decides he'd like to know her better.
Both Lily and Levi, have walls along with secrets. What starts off with Lily putting Levi in his place soon turns to Lily being intrigued about the cowboy. He makes her feel safe. Levi knows he's crossed boundaries, but he's in too deep to back away. He knows he needs to disclose his secret and hopes Lily will understand. Before he gets the chance, another local takes it upon himself to let the cat out of the bag to Lily's cousin, Jacob, then with Lily.
The timing is awful, Levi's investigation takes a turn for the worst and puts Lily in danger. She's too spitting mad with the news delivered to her, to listen to anything Levi has to say.
A ploy, Levi and his superiors didn't see coming has left Lily vulnerable. Unable to get in touch with his superior, has Levi teaming up with Jacob and when Lily takes off, it becomes a cat and mouse chase to beat this fugitive at his game.
I loved the chemistry between Lily and Levi, she was feisty and he was self-assured. Levi had a way of wearing Lily down, such as; after being rebuffed to share some of her pizza in the end still managed to get a slice. Following an angry outburst, the ice cream went a long way to smooth things out.
I received an ARC from NetGalley via St. Martin's Press and I have voluntarily reviewed this book.
I am really torn about reviewing this book. I hate to be critical, because I know how hard writers work at their craft, and how much of themselves they have invested in each volume. But I accepted an ARC from the publisher and I have to be honest. This is by no means a bad book, it is just that I had some problems with it.
I just didn't like Lily, the main female character. I understand that she had been through a terrible series of traumas, and that they had changed her. She is supposedly a strong, educated woman, but frankly she is very foolish, and even the dreaded Too Stupid To Live. I am trying hard not to give spoilers, but Lily makes poor decisions, over and over again. She doesn't learn from her mistakes, and she puts herself and others in danger.
It is Levi who saves this book. He is a splendid character, and far too good for Lily. They have a lot of explicit sex, so if that is not your jam at least you have been warned. As far as I am concerned it saved the book.
"Her Renegade Cowboy" is worth reading if you like strong, dominant, heroic men, lots of sex, and if you don't have the same problems with Lily as I do, and my feelings about her are just my personal opinion. The writing is fine, and Levi is worth knowing. Leigh is an established author, but this one is, in my opinion, a near-miss
REVIEW
Her Renegade Cowboy by Lora Leigh
Moving Violations #3
Levi is considered very good at his job and his job this time is to work undercover and keep Lily Donovan safe from a man who wants to kill her. He is supposed to remain professional and distant, but that idea goes up in smoke soon after they meet when the chemistry between them combusts. This is their story.
What I liked:
* The small town cowboy setting
* Levi: alpha male, takes charge, knows what he wants, military and bedroom skills, capable, intelligent, caring, protective, loves Lily.
* Lily: teacher, trauma survivor, suffers PTSD/Anxiety nightmares, closed off, family oriented, trust issues, loves Levi.
* Jacob & Sallie: from book two…being reminded of their story and seeing them was fun
* Shay: Lily’s sister, says what she thinks, family oriented, strong, independent, not taken with cowboys.
* That most of Jacob’s ranch hands are ex-military
* That Levi and Lily are well matched in more ways than one
* That the bad guy is dealt with successfully
* The small town setting
What I didn’t like:
* The people and events I was meant not to like
* That at time Lily seemed willing to take dangerous/unwise risks
Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I read more in this series? Yes
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Paperbacks for the ARC – This is my honest review.
The story has laughs, pain, secrets, suspense. and heartbreak.
If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first
One Tough Cowboy (Moving Violations #1)
Strong, Silent Cowboy (Moving Violations #2)
This is Lily and Levi’s story. Lily knows better than to trust a man. She has been down that road and is not willing to trust again. But while spending time around him secrets are revealed that bring danger to them. When she ends up right in the middle of that danger, he knows he has to save and protect her. But will she trust him to save her with the issues from her past with trusting the wrong men? Can he save her? Can he prove that he is not like those untrustworthy men from her past? Can he heal her broken heart and build a future?
I recommend this book.
I received this ARC for an honest review. This story is about Levi and Lily. Levi is an hired ranch hand on Lily’s cousin ranch. Of course they are drawn to each other from across the field. Levi made it his mission to get to know Lily. Lily has a scary past where she was hurt physically and scared of men. She keeps pushing men away and Levi is stubborn enough to keep trying.
For me, it was an ok story.
This story absolutely sizzles with steam and intensity between Lily and Levi. They are awesome together, despite Lily fighting to remain independent in the face of lurking danger. She did make a few decisions that had me frustrated at times, but generally, I understood her reasoning.
Levi was one fierce, protective, and possessive cowboy/undercover US Marshal. I loved his dedication to Lily as well as his determination to make her his while protecting her.
This couple had one fiery relationship leading up to about the halfway point where the drama really kicked in full force. And when the storyline took an even grittier turn, things got intense. I loved watching them work through not only the danger but their issues. The secondary characters added so much more to this story as well as the promise of more to come.
My best bookfriend summed it up best when she declared Lora Leigh wrote like Diana Palmer on ecstasy with "sweet silly girls making boneheaded TSTL decisions because they are hypnotized by rugged alphaholes swinging around their boners". And with Lora Leigh's newest, my friend is not wrong.
3.5 stars. See the full review on my blog Lucky Reads Romance.
3.75 stars. Lots of steamy fun, a pretty good plot overall but the drama was a little too high strung between these two with their inability to communicate.
