I will be doing one of these every year from now on! I love that it’s a journal that helps me keep up with what I love, what I don’t, how I should move forward, noticing what keeps coming up in my life, and has a space for notes each week (that I treat as a list of things our family did together or fun things I did that week). I think I’ll like looking back on them through the years, and I’ll definitely use my list of “what worked for me this year/what didn’t” as I move into 2025. An easy space to be intentional without having to put in hard time journaling every day. It maybe took 20min a month? And was SO HELPFUL.
I've been using this journal for ten months now, and I absolutely love it and will be buying it again for next year.
My favourite prompts are "These are the days..." for taking notes on what the week consisted of, significant and mundane alike. And the "Happy List" - what I read, watched, listened to, and made each month.
I haven't yet fully utilised some of the planning ahead pages - with Melbourne having extended lockdowns in 2021, there hasn't been enough certainty to be able to plan travel or hosting or events. And I don't always use the one-off or seasonal reflection pages. But I get so much out of this journal overall, and in future years those pages may become more useful to me.
I've already gifted this to three people in my life, in the hope that it helps one with reflection, another with decision-making, and another with documenting life with a new baby.
Emily P Freeman is a Christian writer, so this won't be for everyone, but while she does offer some guidance on using it in one's faith life (and some of the one-off prompts are for prayer or reflecting on our beliefs about God), I really do think it could be useful for a broader audience.
This was one of my favorite things of 2021. And I will take it into 2022 with a fresh new journal. The weekly reflection was just right for noticing life, documenting what I want to remember and just the right amount of reflection to move forward. I’ve purchased this for many friends!
This journal somehow encourages me to be reflective of the past, present in moment and manageably planning for the future. I love how it works in seasonal rhythms.
This was everything I hoped for and then some. I’ve already purchased another copy to use for 2022 as this is an amazing, quick, and accessible way to record and review noteworthy events throughout the year. I especially love that daily entries are not the expectation. Given the stress and distraction of the pandemic I was really struggling with the practice of journaling in spite of being a committed documenter of all the things, but this format worked for me throughout the year. Highly recommend this one!
This is consistently such a helpful and easy journaling tool! Can’t wait to dive into the next copy for 2023.
I used this guided journal for 2022 because I have gotten to the end of years and have a hard time remembering what happened through the year. What I liked about this guide is that it provided the thoughtful prompts I needed to become curious of what God was doing in the weeks, months, and seasons. Sadly, I only did the journal for the first half of the year and fell off of my rhythm of keeping up with it. I’ve decided I want to give it a go again for 2023 because when I did look back and read through the first half of the year, I was reminded of what happened and what God was doing. I read it on New Year’s Eve and left grateful for God orchestrates all things for our good and His glory.
This took me more than a year to get through, as I'd do other journaling things and forget to return to it 😵💫. However, I LOVE how EPF provides a wonderful rhythm for us to follow in processing our time throughout life. This has been beneficial as I've worked through some of the hardest and darkest seasons... as I was able to find glimmers of hope and life. I definitely plan to continue this format!
The guided journal is a gift to help with everyday reflection, capturing the different months and seasons but also learning from what has happened (and what hasn’t). This journal prompts to think, and makes it easy to think and reflect — which I appreciate as I like to journal but have a hard time doing it without prompts or help. This has been a lovely companion to me so far.
5 Stars because it's what I've needed for so long. It's not really a book you "finish" because when are all the decisions ever finally made? I appreciate Freeman's thoughtful guidance and specific directions.
