Hunter Rose is a Contemporary Romance author who found his love for literature at an early age. Reading everything from Edgar Allen Poe to Nora Roberts, Hunter's love for reading quickly turned into a passion for writing. After writing in a few genres, Hunter became intrigued by Contemporary Romance being the hopeless romantic that he is.
When he is not writing, Hunter finds inspiration through travelling across the world and meeting new people. Although he enjoys spending time with others, Hunter also appreciates some alone time displaying his creativity in his carpentry workshop with a glass of aged Whisky on the rocks.
Wow! This story is far more than one would be expecting, that is for sure. The cast of characters is large, but, not hard to follow, at all. They are uniquely evil, or sweet enough to stand out or bold, to awkward. Mainly the story revolves around Vanessa and Trace.
Their, first encounter, which is only intense eye contact, is at Craig’s party. Where Craig, Trace, Tony, and Darren, who, are Trace’s two roommates. As well as, a few others. The game is going, with typical trash-talking, but, tonight, Tony wants, to add a spin to the hand. A side bet. On the next hand, whoever wins the next hand, calls the shots.
If Tony wins, he gets to provide the challenge, and what, Trace has to give up. That night it seemed reasonable, somehow, he is so preoccupied. The girl he needs to date is beautiful, what could go wrong? Darren and Maxine, are extras, as they say, but, she is so funny.
Collateral is needed, to play. Tony asks, for his car, a Cobra. Date Vanessa, for a month with only Vanilla sex, none of the kinks, he enjoys. Nothing to worry about. But, is it? Things change quickly when she has a stalker, after her. This book keeps your mind going trying to figure out who is out to get her. Not who you think. Think out of the box.
It’s Jordan her friend who saves the day but, calling out all the friends. Free on Kindle Unlimited.
I voluntarily read and reviewed this as an ARC Vanessa and Trace start out with a rocky foundation. He initially asks her out from losing a bet in a poker game. She's lost trust in guys after an abusive relationship with an ex- boyfriend. As they slowly get to know each other unexplained situations arise threatening Vanessa and this story takes off. Hunter Rose kept me guessing as the suspects abound and a true relationship develops between these two characters. I especially like having a more front row view of Trace and how the situation evolves the person he is and what he thinks and feels.
This was my first Hunter Rose book I have read and I was a bit leery since it is set in college (I am a tad older) but I really enjoyed this story. This isn't your typical boy meets girl and they fall in love story, which I also enjoyed. Trace and Vanessa definitely didn't have a conventional beginning to their relationship.
Trace is a playboy billionaire who is used to getting what he wants. He does not commit to any girl and just enjoys their company for a night or two. One night at a party he is bet by his friend to have a "vanilla" relationship with a girl for a month and if he loses he has to give up his precious Mustang Cobra. His buddy chooses Vanessa as the girl. Trace sets out on his month long vanilla relationship but soon realizes it isn't going to be as easy as he thought because Vanessa is unlike any girl he has ever spent time with.
Vanessa ran away to Florida for college after a horrible incident back in Ohio. The trauma was too much for her and she had to start anew. She knows who Trace is and the reputation that is associated with him so of course she questions his motives when he sets his sights on her. She goes with the flow keeping her skepticism in mind but finds he is not who she thought he was.
By their second date Trace is already treating her different and with such care. She gets under his skin quicker than he can blink. Just as soon as they hit it off Vanessa's past makes another appearance and Trace will do anything to keep her safe. When the chain of events gets set into motion he is there for her...always until things blow up in his face and she finds out about the bet. With time running out for Vanessa he gets to her just in time.
Trace turned out to be nothing like I expected and the suspenseful mystery part of the storyline was a great addition. I spent the whole time trying to figure it out and just when I thought I had it figured out I was wrong. Vanessa was just the person Trace needed to make him realize he couldn't continue going through life like he had been. I can honestly say Hunter Rose will be an author I read more of after reading this.
**I was given an advance copy in exchange for an honest review**
I had a lot of problems early on in the story with this book, so I clearly would have been better off just DNFing it. Mainly, I thought the characters spoke weirdly, the plot moved at awkward paces, and that the characters didn't act as genuine young adults. Trace is supposed to be known as a college f-boy, but the instance he starts talking to Vanessa he's a completely changed man who doesn't have any problems changing his ways? And this isn't a spoiler because it happens within the first few chapters, an excellent example of awkward pacing.
I was hoping the romance would be redeeming for what the characters lack, but I was wrong. I don't care about their relationship, there was nothing special about it and there was nothing that got me invested. Sad this was a bust because I always love reading the protector trope, but this one was far from the mark.
Faking It by Hunter Rose was an INCREDIBLE, EXCITING, RIVETING story of Trace and Vanessa. He loses a poker hand and makes a bet….a bet involving Vanessa. Little does he know, it will change his life…and hers!! There’s sooooooooo much happening in this delectable story that I can’t even begin to cover it all.
These characters are exquisitely drawn and so life-like, you feel like you are a participant in the action….watching it all!! So many questions, danger, intrigue, romance, sizzle, and just a mesmerizing read!!!! I couldn’t put it down!!!! First story I’ve read from this author and I can’t wait for more!!!!
I am volunteering to leave a review for an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Vanessa has moved from Ohio to Florida for university. With leaving a bad past with an ex a secret to her new friends she avoids relationships that is until sexy don't do fates Trace come into her life.
Trace lost a bet in poker by his roomie Tony. The best a vanilla relationship with Vanessa for a month amd once he see her he decide this bet will be trouble because he finds her beyond just attractive.
Trace finally find a girl to be serious with but with the bet over his head can he keep Vanessa in his life. Good book amd has twist.
Trace is the big man on campus. Women want him and men want to be him. When he loses a poker bet he has to woo and date new to campus Vanessa. Vanessa is hoping to start over from a painful past. When Trace sets to date the untouchable Vanessa these opposites get more than they bargained for. Liked the romance and development of the characters. Enjoyed the suspense of the stalker after Vanessa and how Trace responds. I am volunteering to leave a review for this book
What started as a bet becomes more as Trace gets to know Vanessa. Their chemistry sizzles and he falls more for her as he becomes her hero as danger approaches her. I enjoyed the overall storyline with enough delicious heat level and drama with a hint of mystery that will have you flipping the pages until the end. This is only my first read by the author and it did not disappoint!
Really enjoyed everything about this story, Trace is enjoying college and knows that he is expected to join his father's company. He also knows he will have to start at the bottom and work under his father's right hand man. Vanessa has worked for everything as well as keeping her head down, she has a past that she doesn't want to resurface. One night changes both their lives, can they both get through to the side of adulthood unscathed....... Well worth reading.
Fantastic book to read, you have drama, romance and a suspect. Trace was given a bet and he took it as he didn’t want to loose his precious Cobra. Vanessa is a quiet girl, that is before you get to know her. As time goes by Trace and Vanessa get feelings for each other. I recommend this book for a great read. I received a free copy of this book for an voluntary and honest review.
So instalove, because why not. A simple bet turned into more. The steam level was ok, but it did feel a little forced. The stalker element felt a bit lacking, and less than. Idk, this story could have been great, but it just was missing something. Trace, for being such a “bad boy” - was kind of a baby, who whines a lot.

I gave it a 5 star rating because I love a good love story. The fact that they had to go thru trails to get there was a plus. I do think that Vanessa deserved more happiness. After everything she had been thru, she deserved the world. But thats just my opinion.
This book was so much more then I thought it would be. Trace loses a game of poker and he has to date Vanessa. The bet turned out to be so much more then Trace ever dreamed. He fell fast and hard for her. This book had so many twists and turns but it also had a big HEA.
Absolutely loved this book. Loved the storyline between Vanessa and Trace. Loved all the characters and the connection between them all. Glad that they made up and were heading for a HEA. Excited and looking forward to the next book now.
This was a really good story. It had the perfect amount of mystery and lots of romance. You really get into the drama of it all. Plus you get your happily ever after.
When the opportunity aroused for me to read this book I didn't hesitate. The curiosity killed the cat, lol, and the need to see what this story would be like was intense. Hunter Rose is the author that I'm talking about and Faking It is the book in question. This book explores the lives of Trace and Vanessa. Trace is the ultimate playboy. He's arrogant, cocky and of course, he's a billionaire. On a poker game, a bet is made and now he needs to date one girl for one month. But then... Vanessa moved from her hometown to attend college. She thought that this new town would bring her everything she wanted but... Well, it was a different book from what I've been reading lately. Great plot, suspenseful, intriguing, and mysterious. In some chapters, I saw myself biting my nails. The suspense was killing me and the need to find the culprit was enormous. The characters worked perfectly with each other and you could feel their emotions through every scene. Overall it was a great book you guys should read. Hunter, just one question. Will the other guys have their own books?

Faking It by Hunter Rose a YA story with a college theme. There are sex scenes and drama. But the story has merit with the mystery suspense of a stalker and an abusive ex-boyfriend. The mystery gets solved at the end but the entire point of the story is a bet. Trace Weston is the hottest guy in a group of hot guys in college and losing a poker bet he is to date newcomer and hard-to-get Vanessa. Vanessa is running from a past she’d rather forget and start over when attending a college in south Florida. Far away from the heartache, drama and trauma in her little town in Ohio, Vanessa tries to live her life but didn’t expect billionaire son,Trace, to interrupt her education. I really enjoyed this story.

Faking it follows college students Trace Weston and Vanessa Summers. When playboy Trace looses a poker bet, his friends make him a bet that he can’t last thirty days in a “vanilla relationship” with the new shy student, Vanessa or he will lose his prize possession, his car. At first, everything is going well until Trace starts to develop something he never has towards a girl before, feelings. Add in some ‘so called friends’, a possessive ex-girlfriend, and a crazy stalker and the story just keeps getting better and better. Will the pair be able to survive the month? Or will outside forces keep them apart?
Trace Weston is a good-looking, rich, college student who can have any girl he wants. During a poker game, his friend, Tony, bets that he cannot go 30 days in a “vanilla relationship” or he will lose his beloved car, the Cobra, and Tony chooses the girl; Vanessa Summers, a classmate of his and also a girl that turned him down. At first she refuses to date Trace until he saves her from the riptides of the Atlantic Ocean. Even though Vanessa is aware of his playboy reputation and Trace doesn’t want to get involved in a steady relationship, feelings on both sides start to develop. This imminent romance is soon riddled with meddling friends, an interfering father and co-worker, domineering exes, and a stalker. How Trace and Vanessa handle their romance amidst all this turmoil is exciting and thrilling. We are kept guessing as to who the stalker is and even with a few hints here and there, many of us will guess wrong. A novel that is both gripping and arousing.
The author’s description of Trace’s parents’ club, Vanessa’s blue dress, and Trace’s family at the club, is just examples of how picturesque and vivid his words are. He sets the scene and makes it believable. The story line is so exact, especially as we read how Trace’s feelings for Vanessa change, through his own telling, becoming protective, caring, and serious. Hunter Rose writes a passionate scene using seductive and emotional words mesmerizing the reader like a piece of melodic and beautiful music, and transfixing us in the scenes.
I thoroughly enjoyed the author’s writing style, his word choice, his tone, and how he uses his voice to tell us a story. This is my first read of Hunter Rose but it will not be my last.
Trace is a man who can’t or won’t do serious relationships. So when he is challenged with a bet during a poker game he isn’t sure what to do. Vanessa is new to Florida and sees Trace at a party where he is playing poker with some friends. Their eyes meet across the room and she wonders about him. Trace loses his hand at poker so he has to follow through with the bet of dating Vanessa and having a “vanilla” relationship for one month or risk losing his prized Cobra. Trace isn’t sure he can do it but he won’t lose his car. He comes to Vanessa’s aid after the party when her car has broken down and left her stranded. He takes her to have coffee and quickly realizes that she is interesting to him. At first Trace is worried about the bet and being able to have any sort of relationship with Vanessa but things change as he gets to know her. Vanessa likes Trace but things get a little tense when she starts receiving notes saying “you’re mine”. She worries it is her ex. I didn’t see some parts of this story and I couldn’t put it down as I wanted to know what was going to happen with Trace and Vanessa.
A great college romance which was so captivating that I read this in one sitting. Whilst this is not my usual goto genre, I was drawn in by the blurb and was pleasantly surprised how much I loved this book.
An addictive read which is packed with suspense, intrigue, chemistry and betrayal.
Highly recommend and definitely worth a one-click.

Although I was prepared not to like Trace based on the description given of him, I really liked Trace and he was great to Vanessa. He may have initially asked her out because he lost a bet, he realized immediately that he felt more for her than his normal hook ups. Vanessa was mature for her age, likely due to the issues she had with her high School boyfriend. The mystery of who her stalker was, kept you guessing as there were several possible suspects you could identify based on the interactions of the characters in the book. I generally don’t read books centered around college but decided to give this one a try and wasn’t disappointed. If that genre is your jam, you should read this book and even if it isn’t you should give this book a chance. I received a free copy of this book via Bookfunnel and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is a new-to-me author. Good news: I thought the story line was really good. Good development of the characters individually. The side characters had a lot of personality and were enjoyable to read. I didn’t notice any major grammatical or punctuation errors.
The bad news: The completion of the story was missing. Even though the characters were developed individually very well, the H/h were very rushed. I was missing their connection. The sentences were sort of choppy and I kept losing interest only because of how they read. Certain details throughout the book were a bit lacking or just didn’t make sense at all. The ending was completely rushed and a complete dud for me. With that being said, I absolutely can see this author actually getting better and better over time.
Oh yeah!! This is what I'm talking about. Trace is a rich college playboy. A love em one time and leave em who loses a hand of poker and the bet is to date Vannessa for a full month.
Vanessa is a beautiful girl, recently relocated to Florida after the end of an abusive relationship.
While trying to fulfill the terms of his best, Trace finds himself falling hard for sweet Vanessa but a jealous woman tells Vanessa about the bet causing their breakup. However, a threat from her past and a deadly business related plot along with an heroic rescue lead the couple back to each other. Love this plotline and fell in love with the characters. Great story. I was gifted an ARC of this book and I'm voluntarily reviewing it without any compensation.
Trace has to date Vanessa for a month on a bet. Trace doesn’t do relationships so a month is a stretch but something happens and he begins to care for Vanessa. All is not smooth for the couple though. We have a stalker, which turns out to be a surprising situation and a couple of evil friends and all put together adds to a really good story that keeps your interest to the end, which you really are sad to see. It could go on and on. Highly recommend this book.
I received an ARC of this book for my honest review.
