When Souma returns from his training seminar, he expects to pick things up where he left them sizzling with Ryo, but with Ryo’s ex, Rei, back in the picture, nothing is going according to plan. Rei is making Ryo’s work life easier, and now they’re doing research together, out on the town together, and pretending they’re dating each other?! Even when Souma takes Ryo on a date, they end up with a crowd of three. Can Souma’s trust in Ryo endure against his fears about Rei?
I can't lie...I really struggled with this volume. Up until this point, I've enjoyed most of what we've been getting, but I hit a rough patch with this specific volume. For me personally, a few of these scenes read as dubious consent so if that's not your jam then I would consider that before diving into this. While I truly believe that jealously is a natural emotion that can occur in any relationship, this takes it to the next level. There is somewhat of a love triangle and both of the men involved are extremely immature. Souma almost made me DNF this title and I probably would have if it wasn't for 30 in 30. He took things to place that was unnecessary and used his power to dominate Ryo in a sexual way. This wasn't hot. It wasn't attractive. He forced himself on her out of anger. I don't care if her body responded or if she even enjoyed it, it was wrong and he was wrong. I'm not in a rush to continue the series so it may just fall to the wayside.
This volume has a plot! Not a good plot or one that's particularly stunning (although I do love that Ryo shuts the rival thing down as quickly as he can keep being an issue), but a plot nonetheless.
Nah, Souma made me genuinely LIVID in this volume. With what he did in this volume, he has me at the edge of giving up on this series entirely.
I get that Souma was jealous. Ryo pretended to be someone’s gf to help that person out. As her boyfriend, that doesn’t mean you rough house her when you’re having “sex,” refuse to admit you’re angry, and just wait for her to apologize while she feels utterly humiliated. It turned my stomach to see what Souma did to Ryo in this volume. Ryo ends up brushing it off, but she was clearly not happy while the “sex” was happening. Nuh-uh. I don’t fuck with that. This manga was always on the edge when it comes to consent, but this crossed the line for me.
This volume as a whole was just so frustrating. I ended up rooting for Ryo’s terrible ex because both Souma and Rei suck anyway. I might as well enjoy Rei who looks immaculate in glasses 🤷🏻♀️ Like, seriously. At this point I just think both of them are toxic as hell, and Ryo deserves so much better.
Anyway. I was so excited to get into this volume, and it just bit me in the ass.
Was für ein A****.
I love this series...but this volume made me sad at the direction I think it might be going. First of all, the scenes felt heavily censored. Everything was whited or blurred out...like, we've already seen what's there, why are they just now censoring the adult scenes? Feels like I've been duped. I have collected this series for two reasons and one of them is now being censored...are they trying to change the mature rating? I hope not. I do not like the changes. And Soma didn't act like himself much in this volume. And Ryo was stupid and didn't act like a girl who was in a committed relationship. I guess I'm just frustrated at this particular volume. I want a good story for these two characters and to see them grow, but this volume felt like a step backward in progression....
I am hoping and praying that this is not the end of the series. Because if it is, I do not like the way it ended. I think that the third one had so many opportunities to go in such a different way. Souma is a sweet guy which is what makes me like him, but the problem was the other guy did not give up. And Ryo have a damn idea that they should all go to the park together. I get it she was drunk that being said what she’s over it up she should’ve known that was a bad idea and I don’t understand how she didn’t see that they were fighting for her in the amusement park. It was super weird and I did not like that. I don’t understand why she can’t clearly convey her feelings about him. And even when she did, it felt like she still struggled with that by the end.

There was some decent relationship development in this volume, but there’s a scene in which Souma is jealous and pushes Ryo into rough sex, resulting in a few bruises on one of her wrists. The consent in this series has always been borderline, but this might have crossed over. Oddly, also seemed less visually explicit even if there are still multiple sex scenes. Still very high heat, with a love triangle plot.

My least favorite in the series so far. And it's because a big part of the plot is Souma being jealous about Ryo working with her ex-boyfriend on a work project. I'm not a fan of jealousy in my romance plot. Also, this book was censored (unlike the first 3 books in the series which were not) and that sucks. I am going to pick up book 5 and see where the series goes.
I love how we hinted at a love triangle but quickly turned away from that. I don't love the other part of the triangle.... he is absolutely a jerk!! But I am glad that hopefully we're moving past this!! But I am looking forward to the end of year when the next volume is released !! I will absolutely be there for it to see how this love story ends up!!!
Did not enjoy. Between the love triangle the shitty ex-boyfriend who won’t take no for an answer, and the uncomfortable dub-con scene where the heroine ends up with a bruised wrist… this did not work for me.

Well, I think this is where I will part ways with this series. It doesn’t feel like much is happening, the sex is dubious consent AT BEST and I’ve just read better since I started the series. Farewell friends, its been real.
