What would you do if an irresistibly desirable but utterly untouchable woman whispered to you, If you want me, you’ll have to come and get me?
That’s exactly the situation that Elliott Foster, CEO of Foster MacKenzie, finds herself in when she meets the alluring Lauren Collier, Chief Legal Counsel of a Fortune 500 company. Elliott never has a shortage of attractive women willing to share her bed, and she doesn’t care if they are attracted to her or just her money. By her rules, if two women are attracted to each other there’s no reason why they shouldn’t spend the night together―or in some cases, the afternoon. Lauren, intriguing but decidedly off limits, doesn’t fit the mold and Elliot knows she should walk away. Instead she finds herself in the unusual position of pursuing another woman, and even more disconcertingly…on Lauren’s terms. Come and Get Me is a passionate, roller coaster romance that’s anything but predictable.

Julie Cannon is a native sun goddess born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. She is a corporate stiff by day and dreamer by night. She has nine romance novels and five short stories published by Bold Strokes Books. A recent transplant to Houston, Julie and her partner Laura live on the lake with their two kids, two dogs and a cat.
While I really enjoy Julie's books, this one was just ok for me. I had a hard time getting into it. And when I did, I felt it jumped a bit and left a few holes. For instance something bad happened to Lauren towards the end of the book. It was caused because of a confrontation between her and a secondary character. As a reader, we didn't get to see this confrontation so when this secondary character retaliated... it's like where did this come from? Also there were times in the story leading to a build-up over an event with the FBI. That story-line was just left hanging at the end. While we find out maybe why the FBI was involved there is no real resolution. Basically, the story was almost too focused between the main characters relationship and not enough about their other life events. We would get teased about their "life events" but the story would just jump over it and you get a small summary later. The romance was decent, sex scenes pretty steamy, and characters likable... just not much else to the story.
A hot CEO, a gorgeous independent lawyer, ugly threats, a manipulative vindictive ex-lover and an irresistible desire. A roller coaster romance that has you rooting for the main characters. Well written and a delight to read. Highly recommend.

When I read the above synopsis I had the impression that Lauren literally laid down a challenge for Elliot to “Come and Get Me.” I don’t know what I was thinking and I suspect that is the story were really written that simply I probably would not have enjoyed it as much as I did. Without spoiling the plot, you have Elliot who has a playgirl persona that she hides some very interesting aspects of her personality. Then you have Lauren who is a successful lawyer who challenges Elliot and definitely falls outside of Elliot’s normal “fling” material. Lauren doesn’t respond to Elliot in any of the ways that she is used to, making her fascinating and a little dangerous for Elliot.
I’ve read several of Julie Cannon’s stories. As a result, I tend to expect a well written story where I feel some sort of connection to the characters. Once again, I was not disappointed. This was a fun story with just enough subplot(s) to give the characters some extra depth and the reader another opportunity to understand the personalities involved.
I'd give this book 3.5 stars but am rounding it up because even though i just read it last night, i can't recall anything that bugged me about it. Unfortunately, it doesn't get a higher rating because...i can't remember much about it at all. It was a quick read with enjoyable characters and interactions, but characters that don't really pull you in or get you to invest much concern in their well being after the last page.
If you want an easy steamy read for a rainy night or day on the beach or whatever, this book should do it. The writer has a smooth style of story telling with very little that would bother an editing nut like me, but don't expect much stimulation to your intellect with this one.
Tease, tease and more tease until the 2 main characters finally dramatically kiss and then dramatically stop. I found the story very predictable and the FBI involvement unnecessary. The sex scenes were hot and very descriptive and (I can't believe I'm saying this) I actually started skimming them because they were very repetitive and went on and on. Just an Ok storyline with a sweet little ending.
This was a very good story. The two main characters were sexy, good looking, accomplished, self assured women. They met, sparks flew, so did insecurities. Lauren had to let Elliot know she would not beg and Elliot would have to come and “get her” to build a relationship. Elliot (the lothario) was in unfamiliar territory. Outside their budding relationship was the peripheral story of Elliot’s former fling with a money chaser Rebecca, her scum bucket brother-in-law who hated her, and Lauren’s homophobic law firm.
Over all, it was well written with good character development. The ending felt a tad rushed but not too terribly bad at all. I enjoyed it.
A short read, well-written with cute romance and interesting conversations, though I could not remember much detail after finishing the book (I may have to slow down my reading, take time to appreciate the good pieces).
This is such a great book for so many different reasons but from the very first encounter between Elliot and Lauren you know that sparks are going to fly. The chemistry is off the chart and Julie Cannon has done such a wonderful job of capturing the highs and lows in such perfect detail.
Elliot is just so appealing on many levels as is Lauren so combined this really is a readers dream. I loved Lauren's take no crap attitude and they way that she does not hesitate to defend her colleague in the face of such archaic beliefs.
A definite five stars from me and I look forward to reading more from Julie Cannon
I liked it. What did I like? The chemistry and how Lauren has been struggling with her decision to declare (mostly to herself) her lesbianism. It was a little confusing at first when she talks about her having “dated” a few women in the past, but at some point it becomes clear that while she’s gone out with women, she’s never actually had sex with one…until she meets Elliot. They still don’t have sex, but she wants to, the chemistry is definitely there. I don’t want to write more as I’m afraid I’ll give too much away, but, I did give it 5 stars, so I’d recommend reading this one!
I really liked this. Both characters were excellent. I thought the character of Elliot was going to be a shallow, snooty rich girl and thought I would really dislike her. I was so wrong. She was great as was the other main character. The FBI storyline ended unresolved which was a bit disappointing but you could see what the outcome was. Great read as usual from Julie Cannon who is one of my favourite authors.
Esas páginas finales me costaron terminarlas. Por cierto la hermana de Eliott fue uno de los más mencionados y nunca nunca apareció, una mejora o entendimiento en relación entre hermanas pudo ser interesante.
Desde min 1 engancha. Me encantó. No podía dejar de leer. Muy bien escrito Las historia en ningún momentan es floja, siempre te quedas con ganas de saber lo que va a pasar
—No sé de qué te sorprendes. Tú mismo lo has dicho.
Amazing is an understatement for this book. I love how the relationship starts the time it take for them both to understand there feelings or even to come to term that there is always something new to learn and feel when the right women is in front of you. The way Elliott doesn't understand the first thing about love but the way Lauren changes that for her. I love this book very much. It puts love, first time, and even understanding i a whole new prospective. Its pretty amazing what a book can make you feel sometimes and this one well had me feeling the love they shear and help me see that when the right women is in front of you, you see everything in a whole new way.!! Love it!!:)
Elliott Foster is successful, wealthy and happily single. Elliott is CEO and runs a very successful venture capital firm. Lauren Collier is chief legal counsel for a Fortune 500 company. She is successful but lonely. Dates are always available but she wants a relationship. Because of their success these two are slightly hard to relate to but it is fun watch sparks fly and they get to know each other. There is a side blackmail plot and FBI investigation that seem to be extra filler and not needed. (3.5 stars)
Standard romance novel, really, though I do like that they don‘t fall into bed right away, or that one of them isn‘t magically turned into a lesbian all of a sudden. Certain things grated on my nerves- in particular, the sudden POV changes with nothing to indicate that there was going to be a change was very jarring… but these kinds of books are for entertainment and titillation, you can‘t exactly expect classic literature here. All in all, not bad.
