Rate this book
The fascinating history of a twentieth-century icon―the first handheld camera―and the people who use it. The Leica is both a product of the twentieth century's inventive spirit and the means by which that spirit could be documented for posterity. As the first handheld camera, the Leica made possible a new kind of documentary photography, and included among its devoted fans are many of the century's greatest photographers. This book is an encyclopedia of the Leica (mostly M) cameras. It contains all Leica history from the birth of photography (the 1800s) to the first Leica M-Monochrome (2012) with full detail of the inventors who revolutionize photography and the photographers. It also has a lot of iconic photographs of each period.

The most interesting part is it gives all aspects of the photography history including the competitor like Zeiss and Japanese companies, War, the world trend, etc.

If you are interested in the history of photography or some of the best iconic photographs, this book is for you even if you are interested in the Leica camera at all.
