Crime reporter Samantha Bell is in California for the biggest interview of her career when a missing persons case from eighteen years ago puts her directly on top of the story that could bring her national acclaim.
An absorbing crime mystery that pivots energetically between subplots.
When two sets of bones are found in the submerged vehicle of a local millionaire gone missing, Samantha is quick to learn the victim might be closer to her than she thinks is possible.
A masterful narrative with harrowing suspense.
But when a kidnapping becomes a murder, secrets thought to have been buried in the past are quick to resurface and the small peaceful mountain town is once again haunted by a dangerous killer determined to get away with murder.
I would finish one book and couldn't wait to read the next one. Finished the series in about 4 days. Now on the edge as I have to wait until April for the next book, how did the body get in her trunk , who put it there and why.
Jeremy Waldron has become my new favorite Author and Samantha Bell my new favorite Protagonist. Why you ask? Simple! I read this 8-book series in ten days! As soon as I finished one book I immediately started reading the next until I finally finished “To Bell And Back”.
Mr, Waldron, not only writes compelling characters, but he creates more ‘Red Herrings’ than Sherlock Holmes ever dreamed of. What I particularly like about this series is the subtle characteristics of the people in each story. His writing weaves a path that gives you a feeling that you know ‘whodunit’ only to be frustrated when the character is exonerated and another takes his/her place as a suspect.
It’s rare to find an Author that can keep you turning the pages from one book to the next without missing a beat, but that’s what happens in the Samantha Bell Universe.
Waldron's stories are hard to put down. The plots are well planned out, the twists and surprises keep coming, even up to the very last page. The biggest criticism I have had in the previous seven books was Waldron's constant use of inappropriate phrases, such as "he ironed his hands down her arms"; "the car bumped along the freeway"; "pellets of sweat", and others. Those phrases are acceptable if you don't use them over and over. His writing is much better in this book than the previous books in the series because he stopped using those irritating descriptions. But I kept reading because the plots were good, his characters very human and believable, and I couldn't wait to see how Samantha managed to get out of the messes in which she always found herself.
An unbelievable action packed drama from out of the top drawer of murder/mystery story drama. This Samantha Bell. Mystery Thriller was packed top to bottom with non stop action and intriguing drama. At no stage could the reader even imagine where the plot was going or even guess how it had come about and would reach its climax. There seemed to be more diversionary clues and hints to keep you on your toes. Never in my recent reading history have I been more mystified bamboozled or in the dark as to what was really going on, I truly loved and enjoyed the whole experience.
Book 8 of 9 SAMANTHA BELL SERIES by Jeremy Waldron. Another great mystery with twists and turns. Samantha is invited to Idylwilde, CA by the newspaper. Is she interested in leaving Denver? A car has been found submerged in a mountain lake with 2 sets of bones inside. A man and a wound woman. They were murdered. Lots of intrigue. The car belongs to a millionaire who turns out to be the father of Erin Tate, Samantha’s partner in a digital writing project. It’s a great mystery and keeps you reading into the night. Start with Book 1.
What I liked about this mystery was that it didn’t use a bunch of nasty language. The plot was intriguing, I mean, I read it in a day. It did a great job of keeping the suspense to the end, but in a cheesy way, by using nicknames to keep the culprits’ identities hidden. It also bothered me that the ending wasn’t an ending, but a huge tease for the next book and I wish the characters backstories were more developed.
A gripping tale that draws you in and keeps you guessing until the very end when the true villain is revealed. And, of course, the final lines leave you wanting to get your hands on the next book in the series to find out what happens when Samantha finds....
I highly recommend these books and this author for an intriguing and fun read!
Please forgive the awful title. However, I have been reading the Samantha Bell books in order and each one is better than the last. I love the less than super human character that Sam is but I do like my heels to always prevail just as Sam and her circle of friends do. Please write many more!
Love this author and is Bell series. Have read everyone and can not wait till a new one comes out. Once I start them I can’t put the down, always keeps you intrigued.
To Bell and Back is the final of the Samantha Bell series I just binge read. They are all worth the read but this was the most baffling. Never caught on and was surprisedat the ending. Highly recommended.
What seems like a job opportunity takes Sam to California only to become embroiled in an unsolved murder. Who is one one of the victims? Erin Tate's father who was missing for quite some time.
This series is great! Nice not to not know who done it. There is twists and turns never knowing how the ending will be. I have read all 8 and will be getting #9 tonight. Well worth the time & cost.
The storyline kept me intrigued throughout, you knew who the killers were but not why and not how they were going together caught. Leads right into the next book in the series.
I'm enjoying this series. Another good installment. Waldron does not disappoint by moving his main character to a new setting away from her usual supportive group of friends.
Book eight in the series did not disappoint. Plenty of action for Sam as she went from being interviewed for a new job into a story from the past that had to be unravelled. Could not put it down and can not recommend it too highly.
