Rate this book
Moving to a new Amish settlement in small-town Colorado was a brave new start for in dependent-minded quiltmaker Esther Kiem. But helping her reckless relative will really put her special matchmaking skills to the test . . .

This is an Amish Clean Romance, and this is the second book in the Amish Quiltmaker series. I have read and review the first book in this book series before picking this book up, but I do not think you really need to read the first book before picking this book up. I liked this book a lot. I really enjoyed the characters in this book, and I liked the storyline. My favorite characters in this book was the two older women which was side characters (one the English driver and one the Grandmother of Ben). Those two women had me laugh several times. I love older characters in book. The main characters are Linda and Ben. Ben is an Amish bad boy that likes to hang out with Englisher. Linda is an Amish good girl. So, this is really a Good Girl loves the Bad boy just with Amish. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Zebra) or author (Jennifer Beckstand) via NetGalley, so I can give honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

Three and a half stars.
Son of the Amish bishop, rebellious Ben Kiem is making a name for himself for all the wrong reasons. He and friends Wally and Simeon have a penchant for creating trouble. Linda Eicher at first seems to Ben that she is always laughing at him. They get off to a rocky start. But as Linda tries to help Ben, she discovers there is a lot more to him than she initially thought. His aunt Esther and his brother Levi see a different softer side of the rebellious Ben, who is low on self esteem and convinced everyone hates him. He tries to act like he doesn’t care. But deep down he does. Linda tries to be a friend. She is a person who always tries to see the good in people. But when it comes to Ben has she taken on more than she bargained for?
I really liked the outspoken Linda. Ben seems to be a bit of an enigma who is different with Esther and Levi and their young daughter than he is with most other people. It is that which convinces Linda there is more to him. Secondary character Cathy , a driver, is a busybody who likes to talk about her ailments but she is also a quirky and likeable eighty three year old who adds some humorous moments.
This is a rather sweet Amish romance that deals a lot with people’s perceptions and judgement of others, with many harbouring grudges for past mistakes. Ben and his attitudes and behaviour does get a bit trying at times. Esther and Levi are lovely.
I enjoyed it mostly though it does tend towards being repetitive at times. Still, a charming book that will please many readers. this is book two in this series but can easily be read as a stand alone and works fine.

A delightful and at times heart breaking Amish Romance story that completely drew me in from the first Chapter. This is my first time reading a full length novel by this author and I will be reading more of her books in the future. Her writing style made me forget it was fiction. I loved the humor that had me laughing out loud. Enjoyed all the characters and especially Cathy who was an elderly English woman who drove the Amish people. She was hilarious and anything was apt to come out of her mouth. The book wasn't all humor but had its share of heart breaking moments too. I thought it was a well rounded story and definitely captivating.
Ben Kiem was a young Amish man who had a knack of getting into trouble and raising chain in the community. At first glance one might say he was immature for his twenty one years of age. His problems had started in his last year of school. His only friends were two other Amish misfits that seemed to lure him into more trouble after his school years. Being the son of an Amish Bishop it didn't seem possible that Ben would be capable of behaving so badly .
Linda Eicher was a pretty single Amish girl who went to school with Ben Kiem. She was a sensible person and a good member of the Amish community. She loved sports and especially skiing and snowshoeing. One wouldn't think she would have much in common with the likes of Ben Kiem. But Linda wasn't like other people. She tried to see the good in everyone. She could see good qualities in Ben that no one else could or even cared to see. She thought Ben was the best looking man in the State of Colorado. Could anything good come out of this friendship?
I recommend this book to readers of Amish Fiction. This book can be read as a stand alone however it is book two in the An Amish Quiltmakers Series. This book is scheduled to be released on June 29th 2021.
I won an ebook copy of this book in a Good reads giveaway. A review was not requested. All opinions expressed here in this review are my own.

What do you do when your thought of a being a bad boy, no matter what happens, it had to have been you. He can’t seem to get away from it, so why not join? I could understand that, but this twenty-three year old is Amish man!
Enter a young Amish woman, who chuckles at some of his antics, but then, well, can she look beyond his really needing to grow up.
We are reunited with past characters, but this book can really be read alone, but you might want to read and enjoy, and meet Cathy, a real hoot!
Will these two very different people be able to join the church and forge a relationship, and will this community live their faith and offer forgiveness?
I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Kensington Books, and was not required to give a positive review.

The Amish Quiltmaker’s Unruly In-Law by Jennifer Beckstrand is an entertaining Amish novel. It is the second book in The Amish Quiltmaker’s series. While The Amish Quiltmaker’s Unruly In-Law can be read as a standalone, I suggest reading The Amish Quiltmaker’s Unexpected Baby first. It will introduce you to Edith and Levi (explain their story) and provide you with hours of entertainment. I am glad Edith and Levi plus Winnie are included in The Amish Quiltmaker’s Unruly In-Law. I just love them, and Esther is a delight (she is still putting items behind her ear). Ben Kiem, Levi’s younger brother, is known for his misbehavior and pranks. He has two friends who drag him into trouble. Ben suffers an injury and needs his new sister-in-law’s help. Esther agrees to assist him and to not mention it to his parents, in exchange for Ben asking Linda Eicher home from the next youth gathering. It is the last thing Ben wants to do, and he goes out of his way to ensure Linda says no. Ben soon finds himself spending time with Linda who tries to change Ben’s errant ways. I loved the humor in this story. I laughed often while reading. Linda is such an upbeat, friendly character. Her laughter and joy are contagious. Ben is a charmer who is also a bad boy. You can soon see why Linda is attracted to him. I thought The Amish Quiltmaker’s Unruly In-Law was well-written with delightful characters. Cathy Larsen is a hoot. I also loved Ben’s grandmother and sweet Winnie. There are good life lessons in the story including the importance of being yourself. I like how the point-of-view alternated between Ben and Linda. We get to see things from each person’s perspective. I liked seeing the Amish youth do so many outdoor activities like canoeing, snowshoeing, skiing, and hiking. I love it that the older set gets together to play pickleball. There are two lines from the book that I wanted to share with you. The first is, “A merry heart does gute like a medicine.” The second one comes from Cathy who said, “Golfing is the most boring sport in the entire world, except for maybe football. I mean, what’s the point?”. The Amish Quiltmaker’s Unruly In-Law was over far too soon. I knew I could count on Jennifer Beckstrand to provide a diverting Amish tale. It was just what I needed. Laughter is indeed the best medicine. The Amish Quiltmaker’s Unruly In-Law is an amusing Amish tale with snowshoe sprints, melting marshmallows, the winsome Winnie, a brazen bad boy, restorative essential oils, an ornery octogenarian, and a scheming sister-in-law.

THE AMISH QUILTMAKER'S UNRULY IN-LAW by Jennifer Beckstrand

First off, the title doesn't seem to fit the story. The Amish Quiltmaker is Esther, but she isn't much in the story. The book is original, reads well.

Ben is a young 22-year-old Amish man in Rumspringa who has a habit of doing all of the wrong things, since an incident when he was in his last year of school. One of the two boys he hangs out with is very destructive, going against all of the traditional Amish values and respect. All three of the boys smoke and listen to a boom-box and commit petty crimes wherever they go. They also hang out with several Englischer people and go to unruly parties.

Esther is the wife of Ben's brother Levi, she only wants to help Ben and convince him that Amish life is the best thing for him. She gives Ben's relationship with a young Amish woman Linda a slight nudge and hopes that it will be the thing that straightens him out once and for all.

Linda is unsure about Ben in the beginning. She's sure Ben doesn't like her but she's sure that both of them are misunderstanding each other. Linda is a happy person, she laughs at most things, she always tells Ben she isn't laughing at him, but with him. She finds that Ben doesn't like to be called silly. Linda and Ben have a lot of growing up to do before they can progress with their future.

The book is enjoyable, I confess, I stayed up 1/2 of the night, so I could finish it.

Thank you for the complimentary copy of #theamishquiltmakersunrulyinlaw from #netgalley I was under no obligation to post a review.

Jennifer Beckstrand never disappoints, and she sure didn't this time in the The Amish Quiltmaker’s Unruly In-Law. It is the second book in the Amish Quiltmaker’s series and we focus this time on Levi's brother, Ben. Ben feels that the only ones who love him are his brother, sister-in-law, and neice. It doesn't help that he is pretty unruly as Amish standerds go. Linda is just the opposite, a practical Amish lady who finds joy and humor in just about everything.
The characters are well developed and easy to love. I really liked the back and forth between the hero and heroine. We revisit some great supporting characters from book one and get to embrace fun loving Cathy just a little more.
I really enjoyed The Amish Quiltmaker’s Unruly In-Law, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who loves Amish romances!

This is a delightful contemporary Amish romance set in Colorado. The Amish Quiltmaker is Esther Liem and she’s actually surreptitiously matchmaking her rebellious brother-in-law, Ben, with the plain speaking, sensible Linda Eicher. Esther agrees to help keep Ben’s latest escapades from his parents if he agrees to ask Linda to allow him to drive her home…..

Ben has been ostracised by many members of his Amish community and generally goes around with two close friends and the three of them are recognised as trouble makers by all. Linda, however, proves to be different, seemingly accepting him as he is and challenging him. This is a story of fearing love because of the danger of rejection hurting. It is one with some brilliant and somewhat unexpected champions – including an 83 year old lady who seems to be in amongst it all, regardless of what happening. It has humour and heartbreak, laughter and love in a delightful story with faith and love at its heart.

Thank you to Kensington Books/Zebra and NetGalley for my copy of this book which I have voluntarily read and honestly reviewed.

Ben and Linda have known each other for a long time. Linda knows that most people avoid Ben because he is always making poor decisions and not even trying to be a good guy in their Amish community. He is sometimes mean and unpredictable, and a girl never knows if she can depend on him. But she asks him to go with her to ski, and they end up snowshoeing instead. As she gets to know him better, she begins to see his strengths and many good qualities he has that nobody else sees. She begins to care deeply for him, and when she tells him this, he doesn't believe her. He doesn't feel worthy of anybody's affection. This is a sweet and clean story that is an interesting and fun book to read.

This was another good book by Jennifer Beckstrand. I have enjoyed all her books. This one taught a lesson of forgiveness. And of self-forgiveness, the hardest kind. And about growing up and continuing to learn and progress, repent and start over, sometimes more than once.
A good book about imperfect people who are still loved even when they themselves do not love themselves.

It was about mistakes and fixing them. Finding your true path in life, sometimes with the help of others. if you will let them.

I recommend it. Very good book.

I received an ebook copy from NetGalley. All thoughts are my own.

The Amish Quiltmaker’s Unruly In-Law is the second book in the Amish Quiltmaker’s series. I actually have not read the first book in this series, but I loved the Honeybee Sisters and the Huckleberry Hill series by Jennifer Beckstrand. And I adored this one as well. Ms. Beckstrand brings a bit more of the real world into this Amish book, but she does it so well in a very tactful way, while speaking about the necessary need of forgiveness and grace, something that is very needed in this day and age.
The Amish Quiltmaker’s Unruly In-Law is about Ben Kiem who is the brother of Levi Kiem, the main guy character in the first book. In their Amish town, Ben is not making the best name for himself. He is on the road to alienate everyone around him until his sister-in-law convinces him to spend some time with sensible Linda Eicher. As they grow closer and closer together, Linda begins to see the kindness and helpfulness Ben is hiding behind his rebellious ways. And before she knows it, she realizes she has fallen in love with him. Their future is threatened though by a heartbreaking misunderstanding, and they will have to choose whether or not trusting each other is worth it.
I truly enjoyed this wonderful book especially Linda’s practicalness and her joy in things. I loved how she tried to laugh at things instead of getting upset. And how she was so no nonsense. She had to learn how to be compassionate with Ben, but she wasn’t afraid to call him out on the things that were wrong.
In the beginning, I had some issues with Ben’s character because it seemed as if he was blaming everyone else for his problems. But as you learn more and more about his past, it is heartbreaking to see what he had to endure. He had been scarred over and over again, and it had left a toll on him. While we were able to see Ben’s past, I was really happy that he tried to atone for his mistakes. He didn’t just try to win Linda back without apologizing and bettering himself.
The humor in this book was incredible as well! I loved Cathy’s character, and even though I have not read the first book, I already like Esther. She has a lot of spunk to her, and it was sweet to see how she, Levi, and their daughter interacted with Ben. Through them you were able to see Ben’s soft side, and they helped him redeem himself. He is not the only who gets a second chance as well, and I loved the theme of forgiveness and grace throughout the book. Ms. Beckstrand also keeps it clean even when Ben is being rebellious, so there is smoking, a fight, and a mention of drugs. However, the romance is very clean! I really enjoyed The Amish Quiltmaker’s Unruly In-Law, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who loves Amish romances!

The Amish Quiltmaker’s Unruly In-Law by Jennifer Beckstrand is book 3 in the Amish Quiltmakers Series
I have thoroughly enjoyed this entire series, this book has reminded me of yet another reason why I really enjoy the Amish culture and at the same time it also reminds me that like every culture they are also like everyone else and have faults and have to have time and space to come to grips with Forgiveness like everyone else.
In this story you will meet young Ben Kiem and Linda Eicher as well as Ben’s sister in law Easter.
You could read this as a stand alone book but I would suggest you read the series as you will get some back story and come to know a little about the characters.
When do you say enough is enough and wash your hands of someone who continually goes out of their way to disappoint not only you but the whole community?
When do you look beyond all the childish pranks and see that just maybe there is a person reaching out in the only way they know how for a lifeline?
Like all Jennifer Beckstrand books you will be pulled into this story right from the beginning, the characters will both warm your heart and make you laugh. It’s a realistic look at how many young kids make childish mistakes then come to realize as they get older that life looks totally different than they thought as a youth. God really does work wonders in our life and this author shows us this.
I highly suggest this book and series.

I always love the vibrant characters this author brings to life in her books. Esther is a favorite with her quirky mannerisms, and I love her compassion and caring for Ben, difficult as he can be. It was a little heartbreaking as the reasons for his behavior are slowly revealed, and even though he was difficult to understand in the beginning, by the end I was really rooting for him to find peace. Linda is such a good match for him and I enjoyed their challenging friendship and the blossoming of deeper feelings. Esther's friend Cathy is a hoot and was a bit of a scene stealer in this book. I loved how she got involved in the lives of the younger characters. There are deeper themes woven in that made this more than a simple Amish romance, which is why this author is one of my must-reads!

Ben Keim has a well-deserved bad boy image. He believes everyone hates him and acts out because it’s the only way he gets attention. He’s 20 or 21, but he and his only two pals act like immature teenagers.

Linda Eicher admits she lacks empathy, and has little use for stupidity. She strives to be happy and laughs a lot. Ben doesn’t take well at being laughed at, so there are lots of fireworks. Ben’s baby niece adores him, and since children are good judges of character, Linda believes there must be more to Ben. Then she ruins everything by telling him she loves him.

Esther and Levi Keim are back, happily married, and the title refers to Esther, not Linda. Another story of rambunctious fun from Jennifer Beckstrom.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Thank you Kensington Press for allowing me to read the ARC for The Amish Quiltmaker's Unruly In-Law by Jennifer Beckstrand through NetGalley. The book will be released on June 29, 2021.

I give this outstanding book 5-stars. Jennifer does her usual wonderful job of telling a good story. You really can't put the book down.

This is the typical bad-boy, good-girl story. Opposites can certainly attract. Esther Kiem. has moved to Colorado and her brother-in-law, Ben Kiem, has made a very bad name for himself in the community, even though he is the Bishop's son. With a lot of encouragement from Ester, Ben is encouraged to become friends with Linda Eicher.

Linda is quite surprised by Ben's kindness to his grandmother, sister-in-law, and to his young niece. He is even somewhat protective of her until he gets the idea Linda has taken him on as a "project".

The big question is can these two strong-willed people find happiness with or without each other?

The Amish Quiltmakers Unruly In-Law is the second fantastic story written by Jennifer Beckstrand in her Amish Quiltmakers series. I enjoyed this story with the characters the author has developed. The storyline is filled with sadness, hope, love, and forgiveness. I enjoyed the characters interaction with a particular English elderly woman who adds a lot of humor to the story. This author always tells a great story but also gives the reader something to think about. I also enjoyed how two unlikely characters form a friendship that others thought was crazy. This is another amazing read from this author. She never disappoints her readers.

I was not given a complimentary copy of this book to read and review. I was not approached to post a favorable response and all opinions expressed are my own. I have rated this story with five stars for meeting my expectations of a wonderful story that I can highly recommend to others.

Congratulations to Jennifer Beckstrand for continuing her series with this amazing story.

Ben Kiem has quickly developed the reputation as a troublemaker and most of the people in the town of Yoder tend to avoid him. His sister-in-law Esther is one of the few people in town that seems to care for him so when she asks him to spend some time with Linda Eicher, he reluctantly agrees. Linda is everything Ben is not – down-to-earth, popular, funny, and sure she wants to be Amish for the rest of her life. The more he gets to know Linda, the more Ben wants to change. For her part, Linda finds herself drawn closer and closer to Ben despite his rough edges. Will these two find love or will Ben’s past get in the way?

“The Amish Quiltmaker’s Unruly In-Law” is the nicely done sequel to Jennifer Beckstrand’s “The Amish Quiltmaker’s Unexpected Baby” (while you don’t have to have read the first book to enjoy the second book, if you haven’t read it, II urge you do to so because it is a delightful read). What makes Beckstrand’s books so enjoyable are her realistic yet quirky characters and this book is no exception. Ben is the real star of this book and Beckstrand takes her time with his story, slowly revealing why he acts the way he does. His heartache at the way he is treated and how he has hurt those he loves is very believable as are his struggles to do the right thing – very well done by Beckstrand. Linda is equally as well written a character as Ben is – she is a bit unconventional for an Amish woman as she likes outdoor activities like hiking and skiing and she has a keen sense of humor – but she is loving, caring, and learns to genuinely care for Ben. You can’t help but cheer for these two as their romance slowly unfolds and hits an obstacle or two. It is nice to catch up with Esther and Levi from the first book and Cathy, the elderly Englisch woman who loves to drive the Amish, is a hoot and a great addition to this series.

“The Amish Quiltmaker’s Unruly In-Law” is a nicely done Amish romance.

I loved this story. Linda and Ben are such an impossible pair. She is no nonsense and totally practical. He is negative emotion and a self-proclaimed unwanted disappointment in the Amish community. They are combustible and a big challenge for Esther who tries to do a little matchmaking since she and Levi are happily married now.
Jennifer Beckstrand books are delightful and this new one in her Amish Quiltmaker series made me laugh out loud. Englisher Cathy is back to drive the Amish to their destinations and offer her opinions on everything or share how her bunion is acting up.
The characters are dealing with serious situations and there could be danger ahead. There is definitely heartache and forgiveness that leaves something to be desired.
There is a serious side to this story that certainly made me reflect on the importance of true forgiveness and the responsibility surrounding the act.
I want to thank the publisher and NetGalley for my advanced readers copy. This is my personal opinion of the book. I hope there will be more in this series.

No one can sink so low that the light of God's love can't find him.

There is many misconceptions of what being a Christian and living the Christian life can be. I think this sweet love story uncovered those misunderstandings. Linda Eicher did everything right. She obeyed her parents, loved her community, and she knew how to have fun enjoying Colorado in all that it had to offer. When she witnesses Ben Liems antics that is not so becoming to a young man and the preacher's son, she shows no sympathy. Ben gets what he deserves. However, things change when she witnesses how Ben is to his sister in law Esther and her young daughter. He is loving and deeply cares for Esther. She becomes intrigued to why after all these years Ben has always been a trouble maker in his Amish community. With the encouragement of Esther, Linda invites Ben to an adventure. Their friendship blossoms with the help of others in the community that come alongside Linda and Ben in their new found friendship. Linda encourages Ben to stop smoking and start taking care of himself. They both find themselves feeling more towards each other until fear takes over.

Ben has a fear of rejection after years of being told that he would never amount to anything and Linda has her own fears of protecting her heart. I loved how they both overcame their fears when it really mattered and how it affected the whole community as a whole. Many lessons to learn with this one.

A special thank you to Kensington Publishing and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review

Unusual Amish Characters

I am a huge fan of this author and went through just about every copy of her books at my local library. But I think anything based around Bonduel is my favorite. I liked this one as well; it had some kooky side characters, it showed that not every a Amish person is a perfect, devout person, they are human beings with different thoughts and feelings; it also had redemption and a sweet love story. What I didn't like was how far he went to drive her away. She confessed her love to him, so he calls her a liar, leaves her in the dark in the middle of the desert and promptly takes up with the English girl that he and his other hooligan friend have befriended. He basically lets this girl all but dry hump him in front of the h, just to prove how unlovable he is.

What happened to him when he was younger was horrible, but I don't understand how the teacher was allowed to be so vicious to him. Nobody told their parents? But none of that gives you permission to break another person like that. He did try to make up for it, but it didn't feel like it was for her. He was finally doing what he needs to make himself realize his full potential. I guess it was just really hard to like some of the characters, except Cathy. Plus the story dragged in a lot of places. It all wrapped up really quickly. But it kept me intrigued towards the end.

"No one can sink so low that the light of God's love can't find him." That is the heart behind Jennifer Beckstrand's newest book, The Amish Quiltmaker's Unruly In-Law. Ben is a young Amish man who is sure that he is unlovable. He spends much of his time trying to prove that to himself and others. If there is no expectation for someone to do the right thing, then you can't be disappointed in him. When he uses the back of Linda's family's buggy to ski after worship one Sunday, it is just meant to be a laugh. However, when he ends up needing stitches, his sister in law Esther will only help him if he agrees to ask Linda to ride home with him. When Linda and Ben start to spend time together and discover that there is more to each other than they knew, both start to develop feelings, but a misunderstanding comes between them. With her trademark humor, Beckstrand brings us a heart-warming tale of love: the love between a man and a woman, the love between friends, and the love that God has for each of us. As always, there are lots of laughs and a lot of heart in this story. So glad that I got to read it. Thanks to #NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions are my own. #Bookstagram #all_the_pages

In this second book of the author’s series, Amish Quiltmaker’s, we once again find the characters of Esther, the Amish Quilter, and her husband Levi, trying to help Levi’s brother, Ben as his past continues to influence his life in a most negative way. Ben is still in his Rumspringa and has a very low self-esteem. Since his early years, he has been a very handful, designated as a bad boy in the community, which is made even worse by the fact that his father is a Bishop. He and two friends provide a lot of havoc in the community with destruction of property, disrespect for people and the Amish values.

We meet Linda Eicher who has known Ben since childhood and knows of his reputation. She is seemingly an upbeat person, always smiling and laughing. After one of Ben’s antics, she challenges him to a race. We see how this challenge creates an up and down relationship. Can opposites really attract? Can a bad reputation be repaired?

We meet a lot of characters who play an integral part in the lives of both Ben and Linda. Englisher, Cathy, was my favorite character in the book.

I loved this book!
If you read J. Beckstrand's last book in this series, you know that the quiltmaker is Esther, Levi's wife and adopted mother of Winnie. Ben Kiem is Levi's brother and the unruly in-law.

Ben has been running around with some friends who encourage him to do some pranks that are harmful to his neighbors. One of these pranks involved an incident with the Eicher family in their buggy. Linda laughed when she saw Ben hanging on to the taillight by a rope. Ben didn't like people laughing at him and Linda couldn't help herself from laughing but not always in a mean way.

Esther tries to encourage Ben and Linda to meet knowing they would be good for each other. Ben is a bad boy and has taken on that role in defiance to his father the Bishop and most of the Amish in his District who thought Ben had gone too far. Linda can see that Ben has given up on himself. He can't seem to do anything right when the people blame him for every wrong. Can she control her laughter and help Ben realize that he is a good person? Only prayer and forgiveness on everyone's part is needed to heal.

I received this e-book from NetGalley and the publisher. This review is my own.

This is the second book in the Amish Quilt maker Series by Jennifer Beckstrand. You are going to want to read the first book in the series so you can meet all of the characters. Ms. Beckstrand weaves in her three characters- Esther, Levi and Winnie and secondary character Cathy from the first book.
We meet Linda and Ben in this book. Ben is Levi’s younger brother and is always in trouble. Linda is a practical young lady who likes to ski, snowshoe and hike. I truly enjoyed the story of how they got to know each other. But Cathy definitely stole the show! Cathy is their English driver. She gets involved in moving along Ben and Linda’s relationship.
This is a great story about love and new beginnings. It is about how words and actions can have a negative impact on a person. I loved this book!
I hope there are more books in this series! I received a complimentary copy of this book from Kensington Books through NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

This is an Amish version of Good Girl Loves Bad Boy. But is Ben really bad? I have an opinion but you’ll need to read it yourself to find out.

Author Jennifer Beckstrand is really good at writing strong, likeable characters who are quirky. Ben is quirky. Linda is quirky. Their English driver, Cathy, is really quirky. This book contains a lot of humor as both main characters find their way to acceptance and love. Even the secondary characters search to find acceptance.

While this story made me laugh at times, I got really irritated with Ben. It was hard to remember that he was in his 20s when he acted like a 12 year old. I would have preferred to have him written a bit more maturely, even as he struggled to find his way. I think Beckstrand did him a disservice to write his character so childish. It made it difficult to accept him falling in love. But if you enjoy Amish fiction, give it a try. It’s a good story about accepting others.

I received a complimentary copy of this book but was not required to leave a review.

The Amish Quiltmaker’s Unruly In-Law by Jennifer Beckstrand is book two in her Amish Quiltmaker series.

Linda Eicher is a typical young Amish woman. Ben Kiem is no where near being a typical young Amish man. They would make an awful couple, or maybe that’s an awesome couple. Only time will tell.

The Amish Quiltmaker’s Unruly In-Law is another great example of Amish fiction. Jennifer Beckstrand has conceived another compelling plot. The characters are well-developed and believable. Beckstrand’s knowledge of Amish culture is readily apparent and adds authenticity to the story. I give it 5 out of 5 stars and recommend it to all readers of chaste romance, especially Christian romance.

My thanks to Kensington Books, Zebra, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book. However, the opinions expressed in this review are 100% mine and mine alone.

This story was fun. The Amish Quiltmaker in the title is Esther Kiem, whose young brother-in-law, Ben Kiem can't seem to stay out of trouble until he becomes fascinated with Linda Eicher. Linda loves the outdoors (they live in Colorado) and has a no nonsense attitude. She's not interested in the the wild young man at first but they grow on each other. Ben just has to get past the chip on his shoulder that keeps getting him involved in all the behaviors and activities that keep him in constant conflict with his father (the Bishop). This was a fun frolic through the outdoors of Colorado and the innerworkings of the mind and emotions of Ben and Linda. This is one of the most entertaining Amish romances I have read this year.

I have voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from NetGalley. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.

"The Amish Q!uiltmaker's Unruly In-Law" is the 2nd book in The Amish Quiltmaker series. Ben Kiem is an unruly Amsih youth who does whatever it takes to get people to disapprove of him, even though he's the Bishop's son. Linda is a practical Amish girl with a ready smile. Will she be able to convince Ben that he's worthy of love?

I've yet to read the first book in this series, which I'm sure would give the reader a better background of the characters. It was an enjoyable read to me, with a fairly predictable ending. The thing that I found distracting about the book was it's use of Amish phrases for which there was no glossary for their meaning. I think it would be highly desirable to include a short glossary in this book.

Net Galley provided an e-copy of this book to me. All opinions expressed herein are strictly my own.
