Kellet James has few regrets in life, except maybe one. Jamie Larke. Walking away from their shared dreams of fame and fortune for responsibility and family was the hardest decision he’d ever had to make.

Seventeen years later, Jamie is back, offering Kellet the opportunity of a lifetime. Larkspur, the band they formed in high school, needs a new drummer for the last leg of their world tour.

With the help of a meddling teenager and with his best friends’ support, Kellet reluctantly agrees to Jamie’s offer, and is immediately thrown into a whirlwind of rehearsals and sold-out shows across North America. Adding to the maelstrom is the connection he and Jamie still share. A connection Jamie wants to rekindle.

Can Kellet and Jamie have a second chance at love, or are they destined to be a one-hit wonder?

Snare is a low(ish) angst, sweet with heat, second chance MM romance.

I found myself out of ARCs and of all the unread books in my kindle app to-be-read, I still couldn’t decide what to read. Then I saw a recommendation for Snare on FB, and decided to give it a try. It didn’t disappoint.

I love second chances and I really enjoyed this one. I thought that the progression of Jamie and Kellet's reconnection felt natural and organic. They took their time to come back together, rather than just jumping right back into a relationship. It was slow, but believable. They had amazing chemistry and I adored them as a couple.

I loved getting to know Kellet and Jamie, both as individuals and as a couple. The story also featured some great secondary characters, who were all an amazing support system for Kellet and Jamie. I’m definitely looking forward to getting to know some of them better through their own stories.

This was a great start to this series, as well as a great introduction to a new-to-me author. The story, while a bit slow and detailed at times, was well-written and easy to read. It was pretty low-angst and had a fair amount of steam. Definitely a recommendable read.

I really enjoyed this easy to read, low angst, second chance romance and that’s because of the two very likeable main characters.

Kellet and Jamie are in their mid thirties and every step of their romance is handled in a mature manner. There’s no major misstep, issue or obstacle to overcome as they communicate, know what they want and after 17 years apart, what to do to get it. The chemistry between had not waned over the years and it slowly morphed into a passionate, loving romantic ‘forever’ relationship.

I was fully engaged with this well crafted book from the beginning and read this in one sitting. The plot line flowed along at a perfect pace, there’s some feels and the cast of side characters kept things interesting, I can’t wait to see who gets their story told next.

I thoroughly enjoyed Snare. I loved the maturity of the characters, both in their approach to each other, their connection and their history and their actual ages. I enjoyed the way they interacted, the set up of the rest of the series in the background and how the author brought their romance back together. Jamie and Kellet have been well thought out, and I loved that there was low actual angst in this story. I had one big heart hitch moment towards the end that just made me extremely happy.

Jamie & Kellet are so stinking cute!!

Loved this, second chance romance, very little drama, minimal angst, a cheeky teenager and rock stars!!

What’s not to love ❤️ I really liked that the guys didn’t dive straight back into a relationship but became friends first and lead into the emotional & physical relationship 😍

Looking forward to more 😊

I received an ARC in exchange for a fair review ...

In this uncomplicated friends-to-lovers, second chance novel, teenage sweethearts Kellet and Jamie are once again in each other lives after nearly 20 years. Jamie is in need of a drummer for the last leg of his band's tour, and Kellet, an original founding member, is the only man for the job. So Kellet signs on and the two must decide whether they want to pick up where they left off as teenagers.

Except ... they are both on the same page. There's no conflict. Everyone -- and I mean everyone, from Kellet to Jamie to Kellet's teenage son to Kellet's son's mother to every other band member and all the music executives and support personnel -- is on board with this. There is some slight, and I mean slight, hesitation on the parts of Kellet and Jamie, but they are completely, utterly open about those hesitations.

This book -- which is no fault of the writing or the author -- taught me that I need MORE to my stories. I am not a fan of stupid misunderstandings, but I need SOMETHING. There is nothing preventing the two main characters from being together, and yet there is a full-length novel here. I have no idea how I got through it, since there is no much driving the plot forward -- at least nothing compelling enough for me.

If you like seriously no-angst storylines, this is the book for you. Everyone likes each other. Everyone gets along. When someone makes a mistake, it is immediately rectified, no hard feelings. For me, personally, I need something to look forward to, some big event that everything is leading up to, whether it be the reveal of an identity or the motivations behind a decision or really anything.

All I kept thinking was ways that there could be more conflict built in -- what if Kellet had not told Jamie the reason he couldn't go on to L.A. when they were teenagers? What if Jamie didn't know Kellet was gay, too, since he had a child with a woman? What if the music executives or the fans would be upset knowing that the lead singer of the most popular rock band in the world was in a relationship with a man? What if there was a contract that forbid a relationship between Kellet and Jamie? All of these things would have made my enjoyment of the book better.

BUT, all that being said, someone who wouldn't want or need those sorts of conflicts would surely give this book five stars. It really is a matter of personal taste, and unfortunately, this book really wasn't my cup of tea at all.

Also, a really MINOR, MINOR thing. One character's name is Kellete James. The other, Jamie Lark. Could Kellet not have had a last name that was not also the first name of the other main character? It was a little confusing when people called Kellet "Mr. James" and that Kellet's son had "James" as a middle name. I thought it was sweet he had named his child after Jamie until I realized he hadn't ... or if he had, it was never explicitly stated.

This is a very good example that you're never too old to make your dreams a reality. Kellet and Jamie were best friends who started their own garage band in high school. After he hooked up with their third best friend, just to try it out, Kellet is told she's pregnant. At this point he knew he was completely gay, and Jamie, upon learning this, decides it time to make Kellet his. They fell hard and fast for each other, their love was obvious to those who knew them. That just made the next part even more heartbreaking. Kellet was trying to be responsible, with a baby on the way he knew he had to make some sacrifices, so when their band was offered a big time deal, he had to decline. Jamie wasn't happy that Kel wasn't coming with them, and he knew how stubborn his best friend/boyfriend was once he set his mind to something. My heart hurt for them. Seventeen years these two went without each other, and I hated that. It wasn't supposed to be like that, Jamie wasn't supposed to leave and then not come back for Kellet. Seventeen years apart, so much wasted time. And then, for Jamie to only come back after being given no other choice, I could have knocked him out. Of course Kellet was guarded, and quick to basically say hell no at the offer to join the band for the end of their tour. Thankfully, Kellet's son, Will, refused to let his dad miss out on such an opportunity again. Will was amazing, his love for his dad, his mom, and his Ma was something to marvel at. The family unit they had was absolutely incredible. When Kellet finally agrees to go on tour, with Will at his side, the level of support from the entire family is exactly how true family is supposed to be. There was no denying the feelings that were still between Kel and JJ, pretty sure people out in space would've been able to see it. When they finally, finally rekindle their relationship, I felt like jumping for joy. You just can't help but to be over the moon for them, and especially Kel, he was finally getting to live his dream onstage, and with the love of his life. The ending was perfect, with them all seeing Will off to college, Will saying what he did to Jamie, and then Kel and JJ making such powerful commitments to each other. Loved it.

~ Happy reading friends!

I really enjoyed reading this! I think the most angsty(?) part of the story is towards the beginning as Kellet decides what he wants to do when it comes to joining Jamie and the rest of the band for the final leg of their world tour.
It's a lot of fun as Kellet's son, Will, basically calls a family meeting to persuade his dad to go. The story is so easy to fall into and enjoy as we get to know all of the characters involved and feel the connection between Jamie and Kellet that picks up as though they haven't been apart for nearly eighteen years. Kellet has reservations though as he still has responsibilities back home with his business and his son nearby at college. However, how much he enjoys being on stage with the band he helped establish when they were in high school really shines through as the synergy of them all playing together makes them better than ever. It also helps having a second chance with the love of his life.
Jamie understood why Kellet didn't come with them when the band was signed but it didn't stop him from missing and loving the man. When their drummer leaves the band with still dates left to play on their tour, Kellet is their last chance. Both are happy and willing to take it slow as a lot of life has been lived since they were last together but you can feel the attraction crackle between them and it's so great when Will gives his seal of approval.
The band and surrounding people are a lot of fun and totally on board with everything that happens between the two men, especially Seth and Liam as they were there right from the start when Jamie and Kellet were together as teens. Will's Mum and Ma are entertaining as well and their family dynamic is so loving and caring between the whole family unit and instantly accepting of Jamie being back in Kellet's life.
A great start to a new series, always love a good band/musician romance and look forward to the next story that is heavily hinted at through this book.
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.

It took me a while to warm up to Jamie and Kellet, but once I did I was pleasantly surprised by this sweet rockstar romance.

I tend to gravitate towards authors who write lyrical, descriptive romances, so initially I was a bit thrown off by the more direct writing style this author used. As I got invested in the actual storyline, the difference in styles bothered me less and less until I barely even noticed it in my excitement to see what would happen with Jamie and Kellet. For a celebrity rockstar, Jamie was refreshingly down-to-earth and didn't have the cocky swagger I was expecting. Instead, he was downright adorable in his eagerness to have Kellet join the band and rekindle their romantic relationship. Kellet initially came across as a bit stubborn and grouchy, but as I got to know him, his reservations about leaving his life behind made a lot more sense. As these two explored their feelings from the past, I really enjoyed getting to see the inner workings of the band as well. Despite there being several opportunities for overly dramatic antics, the band kept their heads about them and focused on their number one passion: making music. As much as I do love the occassional angsty, drama-filled romance, I was thrilled to read a story where the main couple is so steady the entire time. The physical side of Jamie and Kellet's relationship was a sexually-charged slow burn, but the payoff was definitely worth it when they finally made it into bed together. I'll admit that I didn't find the resolution of this story particularly shocking, but it was still so sweet to see Jamie and Kellet make compromises to keep their relationship and the band together.

I fell in love with this book by the time I reached chapter three. It wasn’t hard to do, either. I appreciated how it jumped right into the story without giving a long ‘set the story up’ explanation. This is my favorite way to start a story. Another thing I enjoyed about the story was that these guys didn’t hate each other, and there wasn’t a long drawn out period of dancing around each other. They both knew it was inevitable, and didn’t fight it. That was refreshing.

It was easy to like both Jamie and Kel. Jamie wasn’t your typical rock star, and that, too, was another refreshing detail in this story. I get that there’s a reason the expression ‘sex, drugs, and rock n roll’ exists, but there are some that aren’t into that scene, including Jamie. Although, Seth, their bandmate, made a habit of going out. Jamie and Kel’s chemistry was palpable, even before Jamie walked into his office. Beyond that, their camaraderie was easy, fun to witness, and sweet. You could tell that they had been friends a long time; definitely longer than they actually dated (back in hs). Their journey toward their HEA made me grin several times.

Not only were the main characters enjoyable, but all of the side characters were, too. I love the amount of care that went into development of the SCs with even the shortest of appearances. This book was well thought out and wonderfully executed. I’ve already added all Zoe Piper books to my tbr. This was the first book I’ve read from the author, and I’m extremely impressed. I NEED more, and I need it yesterday.

Snare is the Book 1 in the new series by Zoe Piper called Larkspur, and it's a great introduction. Larkspur is a huge rock band that was formed by a group of high-school buddies. Jamie is the front man, while Seth, Liam and Kellet round out the band. But Kellet leaves the band before they make it big. He can't leave his new baby son behind, so he stays behind to raise Will - a decision he has never regretted for an instant. Jamie and the other guys move on and find a new drummer, and spend the next 17 years becoming HUGE rock stars.

But when their drummer is forced to leave the band right before the US leg of their latest world tour due to health reasons, their options are slim - they either convince Kellet to rejoin the band, or cancel the tour.

So Jaime goes back to their small, northern California town, to try to convince Kellet to leave his settled, middle-class life, and join them on the road. It takes the convincing of his Will, his 17 year old son, his best friend, Andi (who also happens to be Will's mom), and her wife, Ro, Will's other mom to push him to accept the amazing offer.

Being close again allows Jaime and Kellet to rekindle the love they left behind them 17 years earlier. They are absolutely soul mates and it's lovely. Snare is a super sweet and very low-angst beginning to the Larkspur series. I'll definitely be reading the next books because the guys in the band all hinted at some interesting back stories that have me curious!!

Kellet James had the chance in his youth to make it as the drummer in Larkspur, a band formed with his friends, including his then boyfriend Jamie Larke. Circumstances meant that was not possible for him at the time, so his friends left for the big time. Years later, the band finds themselves in need of a new drummer. Guess who's at the top of the wishlist...

After years of looking after his family and his business, Kel is not all that good at taking the time for doing fun things for himself. When Jamie wanders back into his life to make him an offer he shouldn't be able to refuse Kel is torn...and pretty stubborn. He does find himself on the road with Larkspur, however, and the chemistry between him and Jamie is undeniable. The summer tour seems to be the perfect opportunity to see if the two men could work together in a relationship again.

Snare is a lovely low/no-angst second chance rockstar romance. The storyline is heavily weighted towards the MCs' relationship set against the backdrop of life on the road and playing live shows, rather than the music business/musician lifestyle. I really like the characters, including the rest of the band and Kellet's family. My interest is definitely piqued for the next in the series. 4*

This is a sweet, low angst, second chance romance with rock stars. I’m hoping that there are more books to come with these characters and it certainly appears the set up is there. This was a one sitting read for me, so enjoyable I didn’t want to put it down to sleep. (Hence the 3:45 am review!)

Kel is a father and restaurant owner who gave up the possibility of a music career at 18 when he discovered he had a family to support. Jamie is the lead singer in the rock band Kel would have been part of before he walked away 17 years ago when Kel opted out. Each has been carrying a flame for the other all these years and when an issue with the band brings Jamie back into Kel’s life they have the opportunity to re-connect.

What I really liked most about the book was the lack of drama or manufactured angst. It was a sweet story of people reconnecting and discovering the opportunity to find out if what they had as teens works now as adults. I liked the support of everyone else in their lives and the way the adult relationship is portrayed. A calm, meaningful, nice read which is exactly what we need right now given the upheaval in the world. So appreciated.

**I voluntarily read an arc and this is my unbiased opinion.**

Snare is a fun second chancer rocker romance by Zoe Piper.

Jamie and Kellet's tale is one that began 17 years ago, when they had a chance to make it big together. Instead, Kellet stayed behind to raise his son while Jaime went off to make it big in the music industry.

Now, 17 years later, Jamie is back to ask Kellet to join the band. Here starts the two small decisions to be made.

Oh, I love how Kellet gave up his chance to be there for his son. It's a beautiful thing. But, can he leave now? His son is old enough and will be off to college. Thus, Kellet can grab this chance if he wants.

As for the romance, as much as the men are still attracted to each other, both have some fears about getting involved again.

Adding to the fun is Kellet's son, Will. Joining the band on tour before he starts college, he definitely wants the men together and is a delightful character. I absolutely adore his part in this story.

Snare's a short, quick, low angst tale that is easily read in one sitting. Zoe Piper brings a lot of sweetness to this second chance romance. This book is pure fluff and full of happiness. It's definitely worth a read the next time you are in the mood for such.

💞Good, second chance, road tour romance🎶

This was a good story, with family complications that separated lead singer Jamie from his lover /drummer/restaurant owner Kellet long term until Jamie's rock band is left in a bind with their drummer departing. Stars align to give the two a second chance while touring the U.S. together.

I had read and really enjoyed the author's The Sweetest Song which was set in New Zealand and, since author Zoe Piper hails from New Zealand, I expected a similar setting. I actually seek out authors and stories coming from Australia and New Zealand. I was a bit disappointed that this story unfolds in the U.S. instead but found it a good story nonetheless with low angst and good support for the couple from family, the band members and crew. Just not totally what I expected.

I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.

The perfect slow burn, low angst, second chance romance.

The blurb hooked me in and I loved every second of it!
The story follows Jamie and Kellet former lovers who haven't seen each other for almost 17 years. When Kellet gives into Jamie's request to rejoin the band as a drummer, the duo rekindle their sizzling chemistry and deep rooted love for each other.
The writing flows well and I loved the scenes where the duo skirt around each other as well as the scenes covering the concert performances.

Their chemistry was off the charts and the intimate scenes were a treat to read.
|"It wasn’t just desire and sexual attraction. It was the way they fit together, like two pieces of a puzzle. Over the years, no one else had come close to making Jamie feel like he did when he was with this man."|

Complete with wonderful side characters (The band members, Wil, Andi and Ro), this book finds a place in my top second chance romance list.
Looking forward to reading book #2 in the series.

This story hit that perfect sweet spot for me and I found it so enjoyable and easy to read. I loved the second chance Kellet and Jamie got almost two decades in the making. The way these two left things 17 years before was heartbreaking, so giving Kellet the chance at his dream career *and* the love of his life...bring on all the feels!

What I loved the most was that Kellet and Jamie were mature and knew what they wanted. They weren't self-centered or overly dramatic kids trying to navigate the stressful world of fame; they were grown, responsible men who treated each other with respect. There were no games or plot devices to keep them apart, just external forces that only seemed to make them closer. Honestly, it was refreshing to read a rock star story like this.

The side characters formed a fantastic support system for Kellet and James, but now I'm dying to read their stories next! I really enjoy Piper's writing and I'm so excited for this new series.

Excellent start to new series.

What a great start to a new series. The story is serious, funny, sweet, and just overall a great read. There's hardly any angst, which I loved, and it was refreshing to read about two mature guys who talk things out, with no great misunderstanding between them, causing a split at around 60%.

The main characters are great and their second chance relationship is honest and sweet to follow . Their life on tour, made for an entertaining read, the secondary characters were interesting and really added to the story. I especially liked Wil, and am hoping that we get his story later in the series .

We see the story from both of their perspective, stealing glimpses into their thoughts and feelings. Loved this story and can't wait to read the others in the series. Strong characters and great story highly recommended.

A good start to the story although its similar storyline to other band themes but it changes quickly. Kellet is stubborn when he refuses to join the band but we all know he will, especially when his family gang's up on him. Includes a lot of feels from both of them and past hurts from 17 years ago.
Kellet learns the ways of being in the group quickly despite hating the make-up and styling meets. Wil's along with the ride with his father and learning a few things as a PA. A hot chemistry between Kel and Jamie that’s still there after all the year's. A great book to enjoy and includes both POVs for a slow romance, second changes book.
Jamie was the lead singer of Larkspur on the cusp of a tour when their drummer quits.
Kellet 37 yrs plays instruments when he wasn't co-owning a restaurant bar. Kel had a 18 yrs ol son and wasn't expecting to see Jamie walk through his door after 17 yrs

This is an enjoyable low angst, second chance rockstar romance. The main characters are both really likeable and they had me invested in their HEA right from the beginning. I particularly liked how well they handled issues between them and that there were no unnecessary obstacles or miscommunication. It felt refreshing, and after so long apart, the passion between them slowly re-ignites, as do the feelings. Jamie and Kellet have a wonderfully mature relationship and everything about this story worked for me, from the pacing and writing, to the way both they and the band worked steadily together when there was the possibility of some dramatics. I highly recommend this sweet rockstar story!

Snare had me at the title. I am a sucker for Rockstar books and this one is no exception. I really can’t wait for more from Zoe Piper and this series. Jamie knows the one person who can help him is the one person who he will never forget Kellet James. It’s been seventeen years since the two of them needed to lead their own paths to follow their dreams. This time Kellet gets to be the one who gets to chase the dream that he gave up. With a little coaxing from everyone around them can Jamie and Kellet find a new path? I love low angst stories that are full of sweet heat. These two characters connect in a way that works for them. When is the next one?

Fantastic!! I couldn’t put this down! Kellet and Jamie were once boyfriends as teenager. They created a band called Larkspur along with Liam and Seth. They get a contract but Kellet has responsibilities that he refuses to budge on (rightly so). Fast forward seventeen years and Larkspur needs a drummer. Kellet and Jamie had serious chemistry and a true connection. I loved everything about this story, especially Wil, Andi and Ro!! Sooo good!! What do you do when your dreams fall apart?
You start over. Build new dreams. Put one step in front of the other and move on.

For Kellet, he gets another chance to play in the band he and Jamie started as teenagers, when Jamie comes and asks him to fill in for the drummer who has to leave due to medical issues.

For Jamie, he gets to rekindle a romance that, for him, never was forgotten.

A sweet romance with two, stand-up guys, who have high standards for themselves and their professional lives. The plot is great. The characters admirable.

I can't wait to see what's ahead for the guys of Larkspur! I'm positive Zoe is going to make it exciting.

For me this is a 4.5 ☆

I cannot express how much I adored these characters. It only lost the half star as I would have liked more interaction between Wil and Jamie.

Jamie and Kel never really got over each other. Though they had valid reasons for going their seperate ways years before, it took longer to reconnect than either thought.
The side characters were all well developed and very easy to like

The is a second chance, rock star romance story where two men who did the right thing years ago paid a heavy price for that. Kellet and Jamie were clearly a great couple as young men and now they are older and that spark is still there. Fortunately, they get another chance as Kellet rejoins their old band for a tour. Loved the characters here and the angst level was low. It was clear these two would get back together with the help of some good friends and good music.

This is truly an incredible story. I absolutely fell in love with the storyline and with the characters. I really loved watching these two reestablish their relationship and all of the love and support they received from everyone around them. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

I really enjoyed this second chance romance and I loved the fact that Kellet not only gets a second chance with his first love, he gets a second chance to chase his dream. I thought there was something very sweet about the fact that the band go back to the four guys that grew up together and started the band, the relationships felt more natural that way. I also thought that Wil, Kel's 18 year old son, was a real sweetheart. A really cute, comfort read

Kellet James made a decision 17 years ago that changed the course of his life and separated him from Jamie Larke. He's never been able to trust another man the way he'd trusted Jamie or love one either. Now Jamie's back in his life and giving him another chance!! He just has to make the decision..does he or don't he??

I love 2nd chance romances and this is a really good one. This is my first time reading this author and it won't be the last. This story finds 2 mature people who still have that zing thing going for them. Even though they've been apart for awhile the magic is still there. This is a low angst, heart hiccup moments, really nice HEA read. You will not be disappointed.
