Bromantic Getaway

Rate this book
Can a vacation for two to Antigua turn this "bromance" into the real deal?

Spencer Abrams has dated a string of hot women. Sure, it’s never worked out but that’s because he hasn’t met the right one. It has nothing to do with how close he is to his gay best friend. He’s straight.

Isn’t he?

When an off-hand comment sends him tumbling into the realization he's in love with his best friend, he turns a romantic vacation meant for his ex into a getaway with Devin—and a chance at the love that’s always been right in front of them.

Very sweet book. I love a slow burn. I’ve been reading mm romance so long that I rarely get turned on anymore by the sex. I was disappointed in how long it took them to get together. I was really getting frustrated. Once they did it was the wonderful ending I expected.

BROMANTIC GETAWAY was a great bisexual awakening story about two friends finding love together. I really enjoyed seeing Spencer discover his bisexuality and realize he had feelings for his best friend. The way he used his trip to show Devin how romantic he could be and that his feelings were real was really sweet and together these two were extra steamy.

Best friends to lovers, sexuality awakening book- brotato chip read, not a bromance but still sweet. Glad I waited until this was available within KU as it’s a quick read and not particularly memorable.

MC Devin is misspelled once as Dustin.

This is some of the fluffiest fluff I have read in a long time. Super sweet and easy romance, and I think it would be perfect as a beach read.

Personally, I like my stories with a little more substance than what is presented here. Spencer's bi-awakening goes super smoothly, and that combined with how easily he and Devin's transition into a relationship goes and how easily they exchange I-love-yous, it just became a little too sugary sweet for my personal preference.

The writing was good, though, so if low-angst is your cup of tea, you'll probably like this.

Sweet, sexy and funny!
This was a super sweet, bi-awakening (or more like a gay for you, maybe), super low-angst story. It made me want to be in Antigua, too!
After a lifetime of considering himself straight, a comment from his jealous girlfriend about drooling over his male best friends throws Spencer for a loop, making him realize he is, in fact, very much attracted and in love with Devin.
Devin knows Spencer is straight, so he’s never even entertained the idea of them being more than best friends, even though Spencer would be the perfect man for him. If only he wasn’t straight…
A week away in Antigua is the perfect opportunity for Spencer to tell Devin how he feels, only things are not so simple and he keeps getting interrupted, side-tracked, or just loses his nerves. The slow-burn that ensues is funny if a bit frustrating.

I really like the genre "friends to lovers" and this book didn't disappoint me
The story is light and sweet, 2 best friends a straight and a gay will spend a few days in a idyllic place
Spencer is so cute as he kept trying to tell Devin how he felt and Devin was so oblivious to his best friends feelings, it was so almost hilarious
An suddenly...something happens
I received an arc in exchange for an honest review

Perfect Bromance

Well written characters and admitted love makes for a very romantic story. Loved how the author built up Spencer's realization that he was actually in love with his best friend. Truly enjoyed this light and entertaining tale.

Cute, easy read

No angst here, just a pretty fluffy tale of two very likeable besties realizing what they mean to each other.

Dnf just before the epilogue. It dragged on and on and I lost interest by then.

This so bad. Straight guys becoming suddenly guys and having the hots for their best friend is not my favorite trope.

I didn’t feel any emotion, it was just pure lust and not love.
I got frustrated by Spencer’s girlfriend, they fucked it wasn’t explicit but I didn’t need to know that.
Why staying with her if he didn’t like her and the sex wasn’t great.
Then Devin and his dick being sucked by strangers. The guy was looking for a serious relationship, he created an account on a hook up app and was happy dick getting sucked. I didn’t need to read it that either. You’re looking for a boyfriend don’t hook up with strangers.

Spencer was 100% straight dating a girl for quit some time and just because she was joking about him drooling over Devin’s abs suddenly he has feelings for his best friend, can’t stop thinking about him and has hard ons for him all the time!

And the tripe in Antigua, I got bored. It dragged on and on and they got together in the last chapter.
When finally chicken shit stupid Spencer professed his love, Devin suddenly realized at the moment he’s in love with him too.. so believable 😏
I didn’t fell any emotion, any love, nothing. It was just physical.
All what they were doing is drooling, having hard ons every 5 minutes. thinking all the time how the other is hot and how they want to suck and fuck each other (and Devin how much he missed sex !!)
And they did it, twice in the same night, they switched. I don’t like when straight guy is magically a gay sex expert.
It threw me out of the story. I lost interest somewhere in the middle anyway.

What a wast of time!

I don’t recommend it.

This was a fun, sexy, quick read featuring one of my favorite tropes - bi-awakening/first time, and also best friends to lovers.

Spencer and Devin were so great together, and I loved Spencer trying to figure out how to work up the courage to tell his friend how he felt on their romantic getaway. I wish there had been a bit more...depth? maybe? Layers? to the characters to give it a bit more past the surface, but this was a quick and enjoyable read for me nonetheless!

This book hit nearly all my pet peeves in a romance book. I abhor storylines where the “straight” guy has a girlfriend and she’s petty, self absorbed, and well, pretty much everything wrong in the relationship is because of her. Needless to say, I was turned off fairly quick in this book. Add in the “bromance” and it was all too forced, too much in the characters head all the time, I found myself bored and skimming ahead. This book just wasn’t for me.

Meh

The storyline is obvious, the characters mostly one dimensional and the plot simplistic. The preview provided expectations which the book could not deliver. Eventually I just gave up since the outcome was obvious from the start.

This is a light, fluffy, fast read with a sweet and sexy best friends to lovers romance. Spencer Abrams and Devin Mead are co-workers who bonded instantly upon meeting on the job. They spend almost all their time together, both in and out of work, much to Spencer’s girlfriend Amber’s chagrin. Devin, for his part, keeps striking out at romance and lately, even his Grindr hookups are disappointments. He is lonely and looking for lasting love.

An offhand comment by Amber to Spencer prompts his realization that he is in love with Devin. He sets off to woo Devin and declare his feelings on a week long trip to Antigua that he originally planned to take with Amber. When Amber dumps him, though, Spencer convinces Devin to come along instead. Devin has been harboring a secret crush on Spencer but has tried to push that aside because Spencer is straight - or so they both thought.

What results is a sexy romp in the tropics where each of them realize that friends is not all of what they want to be to each other. These are two really likeable MCs with some strong chemistry. You can’t help but cheer for them and wholeheartedly enjoy their ultimate HEA. Overall, it’s a great read that I recommend.

Spencer and Devin were best friends who worked and hung out together. Devin was gay, and Spencer believed himself to be straight - until his jealous girlfriend made some comments that dug their way into his brain and made him begin to question his own sexuality. Suddenly, Devin was all Spencer could think of. When the girlfriend finally dumped Spencer, he invited Devin on the romantic vacation he already had booked. Now he just had to get up the nerve to tell his best friend that he wanted so much more for the two of them.
I loved these men, and their story was both romantic and funny. I was glad that Spencer didn't fight his feelings for another man, even though that was a new feeling for him. Devin brought out Spencer's most romantic feelings, and he gave those right back. They were a great couple even before they officially became a couple. So good!

Spencer can't stop thinking about his best friend, Devin, after an off-handed comment from his girlfriend at the time. He's had a string of girlfriends and although he admits to himself that he's never thought about another man before, he can't get the fantasies of Devin out of his head. His solution, invite him on a vacation he was going to be taking with said ex and see how it plays out. I enjoyed Spencer's realization on his own. It wasn't because Devin was flirting with him, or being his token gay friend that he automatically fell for him. But the realization and the coming to terms with what his feelings meant, led Spencer to take his time and not ruin his friendship. I enjoyed the slow burn romance and Spencer and Devin's HEA.

It's never too late to learn more about yourself...and it's a double shock when your 'girlfriend' is the one who opens your eyes to your deepest feelings about your best friend.

Amber is jealous of the close relationship Spencer has with Devin. The fact that she's pretty selfish to begin with is a clue that she isn't perfect for Spencer anyway. But when a comment from her really opens Spencer's eyes, it's a epiphany!

With a romantic getaway scheduled, Spencer gains the courage he needs, after a few false starts, to open is heart and tell Devin how he feels.

Luckily they are just where they need to be to make it happen.

My favorite part...the epilogue. Just what everyone wants in the way of romance...at least once in a lifetime.

A nice read with likable characters and a predictable but satisfying ending. It suffers from a bit of a pacing problem that could have been easily solved by a better editor. The author’s style is engaging. The characters’ development and chemistry is worthy of a slow burn romance, but here the slow burn is more like a smoking pile of kindling that flares to life and the burns itself out too quickly for you to get your marshmallow good and crispy. With a few scenes omitted, some others expanded, and a bit more of a sexy payoff in the second half, this would have easily been a five star story. As it stands, I still recommend it for people with a love of sweet romance and HEA.

Bromance Spencer and Devin

Openly gay Devine’s best friend is straight Spencer, and they work together, spend time together, and share so much in common.
Spencer’s girlfriend Amber calls Spencer out on wanting to spend more time with Devin than with her.
Spencer breaks up with Amber and then becomes aware more and more of his feelings for Devin.
On a trip to Antigua, Spencer eventually confesses his feelings to Devlin, and they are on their way to a HEA.
Nice little read with a focus on working class guys who don’t have a lot of money, but have a richness of feelings for each other.

3.5 stars rounded up. I definitely enjoyed this book and the chemistry between Devin and Spencer, and disliked Spencer’s girlfriend at the beginning of the book. The trip was awesome and the story line kept me hooked, but there were several editing issues, missing or wrong words and a few times I had to re read to figure out which boy was actually talking. Normally a few mistakes don’t bother me but this happened several times throughout the book for me which unfortunately hindered my enjoyment of the story as a whole.

It was fine

I may have read the whole thing, but I'm pretty sure this was my first and last from this author. I didn't particularly like the writing style.

There really isn't much that can be said about the main characters outside of they're best friends, one is gay, one maybe isn't super straight. They're kind of one dimensional but it was a fairly short book, so not too much room to work. The book is essentially just a telling of how they got together, that's it. Like I said, it was just ok.

Sweet friends to lovers romance

Brigham Vaughn is a one click author, for me, anyways. It was a no brainer when I stumbled upon this sneaky release. I was anxious to read it!

Spencer and Devon are two great characters. They were best friends for a long time. I will admit I didn’t care for Spencer’s girlfriend. I didn’t miss her when she left. I chuckled at all the awkward moments, over Devin’s obliviousness, and life’s sense of humor.

This was a fun, no angst, lighthearted, and charming story. It was easy to sit down and get lost in.

Short and sweet, with a lot of cliches that die-hard romance readers will love. I thought the overall story was cute, but it felt equally rushed and fluffed. Short scenes with snippets of thought or conversation to mark the passing of time, and then when scenes got a little longer to allow for more depth, they were repeatedly interrupted so no progress was made. Devin and Spencer are well worth meeting, but I don't feel I was in the right frame of mind as the target audience needed for this writing style.

If you want angst or to read books which are deep and gives you all the feels, this book is not for you.

This story was sweet and cute, and made me giggle a lot. I've been DNFing a lot lately, so this book, which was pretty short was perfect for me. I didn't have to think much and just went with the flow.
I sympathize with the ex gf, but Spence and her were honestly not good for each other, and it's not like he was an ass to her.
I did feel that the love confession from devin was a little abrupt, but it was excusable imo.
