Shi Qing’s task was to be a protector.

It was only after transmigrating to various worlds and eagerly counterattacking the villains there that he realized he was the biggest villain of them all.

– A King that liked to conquer other worlds

– A Film Emperor that had a malicious personality

– A Blackened Young Master with deviant intentions

– A Schoolyard Bully that was overbearing to others

Afterwards the Gong that initially despised Shi Qing discovered:

– The Machine King that seemed like an invader was really a million-year old baby

– The Film Emperor that seemed malicious was secretly helping upcoming actors

– The Young Master that seemed to harbor deviant intentions was a pure-hearted boy

– The Schoolyard Bully that seemed overbearing was secretly in love

In the end….

BEWARE of SPOILER

Another world-hopping novel that started strong, dipped in the middle, and redeemed itself at the end.

The early arcs had promise—I was engaged and emotionally invested. But somewhere in the middle, it lost its grip. The pacing dragged, some arcs felt repetitive, and honestly, I had to go back and reread parts just to remember where I left off. It simply wasn’t that memorable. The kind of story where you can walk away for a week, come back, and need a refresher just to get your bearings again.

That said—the final arc? Chef’s kiss. It was the saving grace of the entire story. Without it, I would’ve rated this two stars, tops. But the final arc hit hard in all the right places. It tied everything together and made the emotional journey worth it. I won’t spoil anything (and I love spoilers), because this arc deserves to be experienced blind.

08-Aug-2024 Update:
Surprise—I’ve read this novel twice this year. The second arc is still my favorite. I kept revisiting it for the feels, and before I knew it, I ended up rereading the whole thing. Maybe that says something after all.

A transmigration novel done right, which is becoming harder and harder to do (or find) with the ever growing pool of choices

Our MC is tasked with reducing the hatred of his target during a month, which he does using sometimes hilarious means.

I like transmigration stories where the characters the MC travels into are sufficiently different,so that it doesn't feel like you're watching a single character go through a costume change. There are stories which do this better, but our MC's personality is charming enough to pull it off.

The ML is nothing significant, but his red-flag shaped glasses are funny to read about, especially when his inner monologue bounces off the secondary casts'

The chapters become weaker when its not centered about a solid idea so some arcs are weaker than the others, and the ending is average at best, but overall it's a fun little read, the translation is solid too.

I have never read a danmei like this before where they fit in so many different narratives and tropes as mini worlds that the protagonist has to complete. It was very entertaining to see all the various character archetypes and dynamics within one story.

Shi Qing has a lot more endurance than me because if I was in that situation, I would’ve given up a long time ago. Also, to add fuel to the fire, the person he loves always starts out hating him. No wonder he was burnt out by the final world. I’m just glad that he finally has his happy ending with Gong Yu.

As for the twist, Gong Yu being an AI that eventually earns a human body was interesting, and I do wish it was explored more, but I get that the author wanted to move onto a new story.

god this was awful first of all while i think the general premise for the first arc is interesting i genuinely hate how it was executed since the start so not a good start overall. mc is absolutely unlikeable, he seemed fine at the start but the way hes acting makes me uncomfortable. he genuinely acts like a child and sexually assaults the love interest?? and keeps acting like a genuine kid to try and sway his opinion which is so fucking weird and odd and problematic. outside of that he also changed his adult appearance to look like a minor to do all of this which is messed up on so many levels. surely there is a better way to go about this. furthermore i went through the other reviews to figure out if i should continue to read or not but the general census ive gotten was that he does continue to act like this which is not likeable or amusing to me at all. the love interest isnt much better, at first i felt bad at him for the situation he was put into but then he started to get along with it which is like,, ok fair enough if u do it to survive but he genuinely realised hey he acts like a kid AND STILL STARTED BEING SEXUALLY ATTRACTED TO HIM HELLO WTF?? he called himself a scum and yes i agree thats so disgusting, the mc not actually being a minor does not make it better bc HE DOES NOT KNOW. to him he looks 16-17, which is more than 10 years younger than him, and he acts like a kid,,, naur this was awful and the arc execution was so boring and bad as well. i still gave it 2 stars bc the writing style itselfwas fine but otherwise i want this novel dead

I love Shi Qing. His shamelessness knows no bounds. His internal thoughts to himself and his system were hilarious. I love how he knew how to appreciate the situations and didn't break OOC even though he really wants to at times. His acting skills were top notch, and his ways of whitewashing himself were hilarious or ingenious or both lol.

The film emperor arc was definitely one of my favs just because of how funny it was. I nearly busted my gut at one point! The mermaid arc was also super funny because of the gong. The uncle arc was also super cute. I loved it!

The ending was also satisfactory. Not super rushed, and it explained a lot of details. I'm sad to see Shi Qing and his lover go.

Dropped after finishing chapter 46. It's been three worlds (mechanical alien race invading post-apocalyptic world, moody film emperor and prime minster's son) and it's getting boring now. There's no angst and it's not fluffy or interesting enough to keep my attention. It's an easy read though, so if you just like quick transmigration and aren't picky about characterization or plot, give it a go. It's just not entertaining enough for me to want to keep reading when there's so many other things out there that I will enjoy more.

My second QT novel, after Quickly Wear the Face of the Devil. I think in general this genre isn't my cup of tea, as each world is separate and there's only so much detail the author can go into for each setting before they move on. I probably won't be reading any more after this unless it's got glowing reviews or something.

There are 12 transmigration arcs, and the last (13th) arc is a short one that explains the background behind the quick transmigration. In every world, the MC is plopped into the body of the host, a scumbag who always treats the protagonist/ML poorly. His goal is to drop the protagonist's animosity value, which always starts at 100/100 or even higher, to below 50/100 within 30 days. The worlds range all over from cultivation to modern to alternate history, etc., but the one thing that remains consistent is that the MC always transmigrates in the middle of the story after he's already done something to torment the ML and need to spin his bullying actions in a positive light.

The 12 worlds were hit and miss. I definitely enjoyed some a lot more than others. However, I was disappointed by the last arc and the half-baked explanation which didn't really do much for me. It was also incredibly short, only a couple chapters long, so it really felt like the author wrote a bunch of the previous arcs and then scrambled to come up with an explanation for the quick transmigration before rushing onto her next novel.

Here's a quick summary of the 12 arcs (obviously spoilers ahead):

Arc 1 - sci-fi world with a robot alien king and super human with special abilities to protect humanity. This arc was kinda cute watching both the MC and ML act totally different with each other compared to everyone else. Shi Qing was indeed a 10,000 year old baby XP

Arc 2 -set in the c-ent industry with a film emperor that tries to put down an up and coming actor due to jealousy. I didn't like this that as much as it seemed not very realistic. Who likes ghost pepper? And somehow Shi Qing got away with hitting two people twice without anyone the wiser just by lying through his teeth?

Arc 3 - historical arc with the minister's lazy dandy of a son Shi Qing and the unfavored 9th prince who eventually becomes emperor. I have to say, SQ was really good at making things up and blaming people for doing things they didn't do! I liked this arc.

Arc 4 - school bully arc. I love how the parents and teachers rushed into the rooftop expecting to find Shi Qing bullying Zhuo Junli but ZJL was tutoring them instead. Another amusing moment was when their female classmate Tong Xingyu was expecting to get confessed to with a red string but they gave it to each other instead. Very entertaining arc hehe

Arc 5 - modern day cultivation arc. MC finally went on vacation so there was no need to reduce the ML's animosity level. This arc focused on the stories of the ghosts he meets. There was a very sad story about two boys in love where one of them committed suicide after his family found out about their relationship.

Arc 6 - back to business with SQ being the spoiled 2nd generation scientist in a dystopian China that still has emperors. The ML is his bodyguard who eventually becomes the crown prince and then the emperor. It was okay but nothing special

Arc 7 - mermaid/siren with golden dragon. There was zero romance build up and the dragon went from thinking SQ was his baby to his lover. Here the protagonist was a different character from the ML which also made things odd. This arc was very meh

Arc 8 - set in a cultivation world, with shizun/disciple relationship. The ML Rong Jue started out with an insane animosity level of 500/100 against SQ, since his shizun has done absolutely nothing to help him cultivate and instead keeps putting him down instead. They're both such good actors, especially the shameless ML. And I thought the non con parts that 'shizun' hated but SQ loved were hilarious. SQ did a good job or coming up up with a back story that completely reversed the ML's opinion of him. One of the best arcs in the story!

Arc 9 - modern day setting with a uncle / adopted son relationship. I didn't like the relationship setting and the age gap that much, but this arc was amusing because of tsundere SQ and the little SQ on his shoulder that helped the ML understand his true feelings. I was frustrated with their cluelessness, like the ML had no idea SQ confessed to him until weeks after when someone else pointed it out to him and SQ didn't realize his confession was so completely misunderstood.

Arc 10 - pampered only son and his wolf general set in feudal China. There were many great moments, like all the face slapping when SQ paraded his new boy toy Jiang Bieyu in front of his brother-in-law or when he announced to his parents he was planning to become emperor. Or when he told his cousin that the devil incarnate general Jiang was his lover and his cousin didn't believe him. Overall it as a long arc and my favorite so far, except for one thing. By the end Shi Qing got a little too OP, like nothing he did could go wrong.

Arc 11 - set in an apocalyptic world with zombies and humans with special abilities. Not much memorable about it

Arc 12 - another cultivation arc with SQ as a mortal acting as sect leader. He 'invites' the disciples of the major sects over and intends to steal their spiritual root but changes it to healing them after transmigration. Okay but not particularly interesting

Dropped after the first arc.

The concept is fun, but I get bored with these kinds of stories where the MC pretends to be an annoying white lotus to get their way. When will authors learn that these kinds of characters are boring? Also, it's pretty cringe how a "romantic" relationship develops even though the ML initially considers the MC a child. There's quite a bit of pedophilia subtext.

I don't have enough patience to read about the rest of the worlds.

QT novel. I liked that I can read an arc each time and pause before going to the next one. The arcs aren't linked so it can be like reading mini stories.

I like some arc more than others and personally I do like the green tea face slapping... hahahaha.

However, I'm not sure if I'll read it again? Like it's nice and interesting but I feel that the arcs/ plot seems to be reminiscent of other better novels

Rating: 3.5/5- I enjoyed this story until it got to the last 4 arcs and then I was kind of disappointed.

The story was funny and interesting until it felt a bit repetitive towards the end. I also did not understand why the final arc that tied everything felt so unbelievable. As if the author forgot how to write?

It’s enjoyable to pass time but with a disappointing ending.

Not the first Chinese web novel lately that I've DNFed due to starting out well and then author just gets lazy. A quick-transmigration story, the MC takes on the role of the villain mid-way through the story and has to convince the protagonist that everything 'evil' the MC/villain did was actually a selfless and misunderstood action. At the beginning this requires a lot of plotting and manipulation of events & other characters. By the end, it just seems to mean a lot of seducing his love interest who is powerful enough to then fix things for him. Or the love interest is also the protagonist, so beguiling with sex. The author also descends into one of my least favourite tropes: ML sexually harassing/raping the MC, but "its okay" because the MC wants it, except the MC is playing a role where they have to act like they don't want it so it IS actually rape because there is the opposite of consent as far as the ML knows (but goes ahead anyway).

TLDR: Started out well, then got dumb & rapey.
