With Regan's dungeon easily repelling the necromancer attack, the new challenge is just finding enough time to deal with the issues. He still has prisoners to interrogate after all! Either way, Regan is determined to cause as much chaos as he can, and with him creating plenty of toys and taking some from others, he is very much capable of annoying more than a few people.
Louella, on the other hand, finds her hands full with the tournament for Marquis Valamar. More than adventurers want to take part causing more than a few issues. She might be able to deal with it if her mind was suddenly being occupied by thoughts of Earle all the time. What is in store for her valley and the dungeon?
The concept of an alignment shift was intriguing, but the changes to the core characteristics that went with it made the characters rather boring. The lack of control, the poor planning, the indecisive actions. Much of what made me enjoy the first series was missing, none of which needed to affected by the moral shift. The first book and over half of the second seemed like a collection of random happenstance from a group of intellectually lacking sociopaths. While individual scenes could be fun, the whole as a given was boring and lacked any sense of direction. The latter half of this book started to feel like an actual story, hence the second star.
The book for me was a bit slow as far as conflict building and resolution. The plot kind of meandered along and I had a hard time really engaging with the world and characters
