After defusing another flash point in the ongoing fracas between the Winfiel Kingdom and the Church, Col and Myuri are more than ready to take a breather. Of course, the world has other plans for the infamous Twilight Cardinal. As the pair leisurely make their way to a famous monastery, they stumble upon a fallen squire who carries a desperate plea for help. With the world’s strongest holy order of knights on the brink of dissolution and Col apparently to blame, there’s no time to waste!
Vol 5 felt like it took an ETERNITY to come out. The wait, as always, was worth it. Though It's 4 stars because I felt the Knights of Kruza weren't nearly as interesting as anything written before. ESPECIALLY considering in this volume an absolutely massive bombshell has been dropped that, in reality, This sort of worldbuilding is exactly the type of thing that keeps me reading. My beloved S&W universe getting more lore... Not to mention Col & Myuri one upping the OGs in their marks in the world. Bliss.
Not the best of the series, many elements seemed thrown in kinda randomly, only to build up into nothing. In the end, there wasn't that much evolution from most characters. At least Col and Myuri can finally put a word on their relationship but we still have to see how it plays out.
