I got this book after thoroughly enjoying Dance Me Outside (as both book and movie), and thought this would be even better since it struck a little closer to home. However, on its own this book is a little disappointing. I can only think it's better as a companion to the movie, but I've never even seen it to view (let alone actually seen it) so I wouldn't know. As its own graphic novel, it comes off as a beautifully and intricately rendered piece of art, but considerably scattershot as a narrative. It does, though, make me want to see the film even more.
