I borrowed this book from the “self help” library at work. I found it rather limiting and dated insomuch as “doomscrolling” was very much a feature of the Covid lockdown, which is now mercifully behind us. Once I had extended it out to overuse of my phone and social media, which is something that does affect me, it became more meaningful but even then the book felt very padded and could have been condensed into a few pages.
There was too much analysis of the apparent physical and psychological effects of “doomscrolling” - I have no idea whether there is any substance to this, as the author’s credentials are not mentioned - and even a bizarre set of personal trainer type PT programmes to finish.
Not sure if kindle unlimited, got it on a freebie day if I remember correctly.
Some interesting points, and I even jotted down a few ideas to mull over. Not sure I agreed with everything, but overall or for the most part, I did, and found it enough so to jot those notes as well as to leave review, of course, although other writers wished I had not in thier cases for thier books because the ratings are definitely not equal.
I had no idea Doomscrolling was a thing! I am not a fan of social media. The author did a great job identifying real responses like fight or flight. The suggestions on living a healthier life were great! Definitely worth the read.
