Powerful Director of one of NYC's most exclusive Art Galleries, Elizabeth Diamond, is career focussed and doesn't have time for a relationship.
The last thing she expects is to become helplessly entangled with a super talented and wildly beautiful artist from a poor background who is desperate to exhibit at her gallery.
This young artist comes from a different world and it would be entirely unprofessional for Elizabeth to start anything with her.
I really liked how this story started and where it was going. Ella was such a natural spirited proud individual who used her art to get through her life pressures especially growing up. Wanting always to be an artist. Elizabeth a director for a prominent art gallery had it all but just wanted to meet someone to share her life with but work always came first and kept her busy. When these two meet, their is an instant hot connection and lines blur between her art and love. Ella trusts Elizabeth and agrees to a gallery show, which is her dream. Then it all goes to hell. As the story unravels, us readers are busy yelling out do not do this!!! Elizabeth knows things are not right but she doesn’t have Ella’s back. Ella is heartbroken. The honesty of this story about two classes clashing is not so uncommon and it was nice to see how this ended especially in the special Epilogue issue. Emily Hayes is something else.
Good story, slightly awkward presentation, hot sex scenes
The story itself was really solid. I like the pacing and how it all played out. I wasn't a huge fan of the rushed ending, but that may be a personal preference. The sex scenes, vanilla though they were, were exciting and engaging and contributed a lot to the characters. A little more showing and less telling would have made the characters feel a little more developed and helped the story flow better. It felt a little awkward in parts, like I was reading a list of information and not engaging fully. That said, it was a good quick read that made me laugh at a couple points, and it was definitely hot.
4 stars. Epilogue wasn’t included—BOOO! I wanted more. Also, I can’t stand when both heroines have names that start with the same letter and that’s what this had. Ella and Elizabeth (there was even a character named Eli. Too much!) it was frustrating. Other than those two annoyances I really liked this. It was a lovely and sexy little romance between an artist and her muse. Ella and Elizabeth had great chemistry and though I felt the third act drama was a bit over the top I did like how it was resolved. Just a really sexy and light read.
This authors work is hit or miss with me. Although, last year was not a good year for me to be reading so I might read some of the books again and see if I have changed my mind. This one I really enjoyed. I loved both characters of Ella and Elizabeth and I enjoyed the storyline. From what I have read of her work so far, in my opinion, this is her best book yet that I have read.
Definitely worth reading. Would fit the age-gap or character over 40 category of Jae's reading challenge.
Elizabeth is an art director who goes to an art school looking for some new talent for her gallery! She meets teacher Ella who is a struggling to get her work show! Can Elizabeth be her answer? Their chemistry is instantaneous! This is a fun and steamy read! I enjoyed it very much!
Wow what another heartfelt storyline I loved it couldn't put it down the main characters chemistry was hot passionate loving understanding everything a relationship should be with learning to overcome difficulties in order to it to work. My personal favourite congratulations.
A beautiful age gap romantic and steamy story about dreams, new beginnings and overcoming challenges. An excellent book to finish the year with dimensional characters, loved it.
I loved this book. I liked how they met when Ella was teaching an art class. I liked how they fell for each other so fast and in the end they were there for each for ever.
I love how Ella and Elizabeth was attractive too each other from the beginning.how she help Ella show her artist skill by showing it at the gallery and finally letting her get her art out their.
It built nicely. An interesting look in to a small corner of a Manhattan art scene. And then.. it ended. Swiftly. I was ready for the next chapter but ..nope. Aye, you were nice whilst you lasted.
I really liked it. I loved Ella and Elizabeth’s chemistry. And wow some really hot sex scenes. It could be a little longer. And it did feel rushed at the end. But a good one.
This is the second book by Emily Hayes I’ve read in 2 days. I have never read a book by her that I didn’t like. 2 very different women find a home in each other.
Elizabeth and Ella come to life in this well written HEA lesfic rendering. The age gap isn't huge, and, in my opinion, it takes a back seat to the socioeconomic disparities between the women.
But what is it with this author? Many of her books require a separate download for the epilog to the book. And you must sign up for her newsletter, but since I tend to binge read authors, this gets frustrating after the third, fourth, fifth, and beyond time.
