LAURA
Brady and I have been friends for years. But I'm not going to get through my first Hanukkah since my mom's death without us finally becoming more.

For the past few years, I've travelled all over the world, trying to find somewhere to belong. Now, spending a week in Brady's arms, I'm starting to think I was looking in the wrong place.

But can I convince Brady that this time, I'm not going to walk away?

BRADY
I've been in love with Laura since we were fifteen. Spending a week as more than friends is like a Christmas miracle. Except I know she's not going to hang around and run her mom's shop.

Part of what I love about Laura is her free spirit. I'd be an ass to ask her to stay just for me.

But how do I let her go, again, now that I know everything I'm giving up?

Liz Lincoln has been concocting stories as long as she can remember, and from the beginning they involved two people falling in love. She also writes under the not-even-a-little-bit-secret identity of Eliza Madison.

When she’s not writing, Liz spends her time rooting for the UW Badgers and the Green Bay Packers (or yearning and embroidering for the return of football season), cross-stitching sassy sayings or nerdy characters (Wonder Woman is her favorite), and drinking too much Diet Coke.

She lives in Milwaukee, WI, with her husband, two kids, two cats, and a turtle.

I usually do not do one star reviews. I want to enjoy my reads and if something isn't working for me, then I just move on. However with this book, I could not let it go.
So here is a negative review from someone who does not write them.

3 home is where the heart is stars. Laura and Brady have known each other for a very long time and have a spark between them they never acted upon. When Laura's home celebrating Hanukkah and mourning the death of her mother, she decides to give her and Brady a timed test trial before leaving once again. Brady hopes he can not only enjoy the time he has with Laura but also sway her to stay.

Laura's a wanderer and never stays in the same place for too long. Brady's been a constant in her life, someone to rely on, and now more than ever she wants to lean on him. Brady's been in love with Laura for what could be viewed as far too long. Brady's caring, smart, fun, and sweet. He is good for Laura and openly accepts her where her own family makes her uncomfortable.

The story wasn't hard to enjoy but it lacked that extra mile feeling where you love it. I liked the read but definitely didn't become so invested that I couldn't put it down which is why is only received 3 stars from me.

Heartbreaking love story about Laura and Brady, who were friends since when they were teens. Instead of her usual trip home to celebrate Hanukkah, Laura is spending the holiday mourning her mom's recent death. It was so sad story, that I cried when I read it, I loved the book so much, that I want to read more this author books. It was just so sad story because two people, who were friends like so many years, decided to be together and when they find love, Laura is leaving and Brady feels so sad and heartbreaking that I couldn,t stop reading without cring for them. I loved it and I will reccomend it to my friends. True love story and I wish to have someone who really loves me like Brady loves Laura. Good!

*I kindly received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review*

Well I wouldn't exactly say this is awesome or beautiful but it wasn't bad. There were some bad reviews but I wouldn't go as far as giving it just 1-star. There are books out there that deserve 1-star and this isn't definitely one of them. this is like one of those contemporary romance novels that you read just to pass time. It won't hook you but neither would it bore you ;)
The only reason I'm giving this a 2-star rather than 3 is because of my dislike towards the main character, Laura. She was definitely annoying. It began with her wanting her best friend for sex and that wasn't that much of a romantic start. Brady was an ok guy but the pining was a little too much for me. The funny part was that I didn't know this was actually the 4th book in the series (I had a tiny inkling). Normally I don't read books in middle of a series but I can say that it can be read even as a stand alone.

Another fun romp in the Men at Work series. Madison has a way of weaving together relatable characters, humor, real-life serious topics like grief and loss, with the smexytimes that keep you smiling. This might be my favorite in the series so far since I love the friends-to-lovers set-up so much. Laura and Brady are so fun together. <3

What Worked for Me
⭐ The Spice (and the holiday spice!)
This book comes out swinging. The heat starts early, stays consistent and absolutely works for the story. As someone who loves a spicy romance, this was chef’s kiss — bold, fun and emotionally grounded. NOT a slow burn. We are burning the yule log from page one.

⭐ Realistic 20-something voice
The characters talk and react like actual young adults. The banter feels natural, the sex scenes feel honest and the emotional beats — especially around grief — are handled with clarity and care.

Three quotes that jumped out at me:

“He was the water to soothe my thirst. The air to give me breath. And other cliché metaphors I was too horny to think of.”

“Sex with Laura was the most amazing thing I’d experienced in my life … Being with Laura blew away every other memory … because this was Laura.”

“You don’t stop loving someone just because they’re gone.”

That last one? Oof. Right in the chest.

⭐ Milwaukee as a character
Liz Lincoln clearly knows Milwaukee and it shows. The city feels lived-in rather than touristy. The references to local spots, including the recombobulation area at the airport (bless MKE forever for that), gave the book so much charm.

⭐ The Star Wars references
Perfect. Funny. Playful.

“What would the rom-com movie version of me do? Screw rom-coms. What would Princess Leia do?”

10/10, no notes.

Challenges (AKA: Let Me Yuck Some Yums for a Moment)
Listen, you know I don’t like to kink shame … but I am going to shame the lack of hygiene in two particular scenes because dear God, no:

🚫 The Two Bar Scenes
Brady fingers Laura with unwashed, bartender-after-a-shift hands.
A later scene takes them to the bar bathroom … on the floor … and the sink counter.
I’m sorry. I cannot. Please, for the love of sanitation, take it to the back office desk like regular people.

🚫 The Funeral Timing
Laura’s family didn’t wait twelve days for her to return from humanitarian aid work after a tsunami so she could attend her mother’s funeral. Twelve. Days.

As someone whose family waited months for a funeral? Yeah. That struck me as absurd and unnecessarily cruel.

Her aunt Naomi? Grade-A villain energy. And yes, she’s supposed to be awful — but wow. She’s awful.

These aren’t flaws in the book so much as things that successfully made me furious for Laura. So in that sense, they worked exactly as intended.

Final Thoughts
I genuinely enjoyed this book. The pacing works, the romance feels grounded, the spice level was perfect for me (minus the … bar stuff), and it’s not a heavy or overly long read — ideal for the busy holiday season.

Find Me also handles the intersection of Hanukkah and Christmas respectfully and thoughtfully. And despite the grief woven through the story, it still manages to be warm, sexy and full of heart.

I’d definitely read more from Liz Lincoln. And I still maintain the original title, Eight Naughty Nights, slapped harder.

I was thrilled to have found this book because let's face it, it is damn difficult to find a romance novel with Jewish characters. The blurb hooked me but the story disappointed me, greatly.

Laura, our supposed heroine needed adventure and it seems her adventures were of a humanitarian nature - so that is one point for her. Sadly, that is about all the credit I can give her. She is selfish to the core. She spends the entire book focused on what she wants and what she thinks she needs without regard to the feelings of those around her.

Our hero, Brady is more redeeming but he lost points with me because I couldn't figure out what it was about Laura that he loved. All we are told (not shown) is that he loves her "free spirit". We aren't shown enough redeeming qualities about Laura to understand Brady's attraction to or feelings for Laura, so he comes off as a doormat for the majority of the story.

The steam is there but Laura uses sex as a distraction and an avoidance tactic. Even in a novella, I prefer the sex to move the story forward and show the development of the relationship. This story didn't do that at all. The sex was pure avoidance on Laura's part.

Now, let me go back to the Jewish character issue. There are so few romances with Jewish characters. You want BDSM? Easy. You want reverse harem? There is plenty. If m/m is your thing, it is there for the taking...mostly void of Own Voices, however. You want some m/m/f or m/f/m - you can have it. You want BBW? No problem! You want Jewish characters? You will be digging deep to find less than a handful of crumbs. So, imagine my glee at finding one of the few out there. The problem is that the author decided to portray the Jewish characters in the worst possible light. Laura is treated about as well as a muggle in the care of the Malfoy family, all because her father is Christian. Her aunts are frigid, resentful, hateful, and intolerant. With family, with religion, with everything. I get it...there are characters like that in non-Jewish storylines but come on. It would have been nice had Laura's family problems not stemmed from a sterotype.

I wish I could have enjoyed this book more, but I was not able to connect with our main character and I was also expecting a bit more action. The entire conflict is based on Laura’s decision to stay or leave her hometown. While I appreciated her free spirit, she seemed too caught up in her own problems and not realizing that actions have consequences.

The story begins with her return to Milwaukee, with a clear plan to spend a few nights with her best friend Brady, but as more than that. With her mom’s passing, she now has to sort the affairs of her gift shop and deal with her aunts as well.

The romance was ok to a certain extent. Brady is the nice guy, doing his best to comfort and support Laura with everything she may need. She on the other hand, took without giving much in return. She was not aware on the way her actions affected Brady and that crossing a line meant going to a point of no return. Still caught up in her plants to leave in a few days, she did not think on how Brady would feel.

The elements surrounding the romance were also ok to an extent. While I can understand Laura not being attached to one religion or the other and I may understand her emotional detachment from her alcoholic mother, she did not seem to do anything on her own. Brady helped her with the shop and with the little she complied with tradition. Her family appeared briefly and they didn’t make much of a positive impact either, which I believe was the author’s intention. I also did not understand how Laura was able to finance her travels, but I may have missed that in the book.

All in all, I cannot say I was crazy about it. I have listened to the audiobook and that was a big help in me finishing the story. I honestly whish I could have appreciated it more.

I never know whether to put stories set in Milwaukee on my "big city" or "small town" shelf. Anyway, this is set in Milwaukee, which is a place where many awesome things begin. (Like me! I was born there.)

Laura is a globe-trotter who has come home, not really for the holidays, after her mother dies suddenly. She's Jewish but not very, if that makes any sense, there are some rituals and events set around Hanukkah, but also, Brady, wearing a Santa hat, preparing all the traditional foods like latkes and sufganiyots (jelly donuts). Laura and Brady were sort of a thing, as teens, and they make a pact to enact a FWB arrangement - just for these eight nights, until Laura leaves again, to help distract her from her grief.

The sexytimes are HOT, the food descriptions likewise mouth-watering, and there is also Star Wars, so what's not to love? This is part of a series, but works fine as a stand-alone.

My opinion.

I guess the only good thing in the serie are the sex scenes, which if you look beyond the scenes there is similarity during the foreplay and so.

I am reading the sequele accordingly, this is the 4th book and so far it has been the least liked. The whole Serie is repetitive being standalone. The characters are all closed to each, brothers to best friends etc. That could have made it better coz everyone gets a happy ending, but it didn't work for me, here is why:

The Heroines have the same way of thinking almost, just wanting to use the Hero's for sex, childish behaviors, wallowing into self pity, bickering and the whole story is just their back and forth indecision.

The part that had to be sensitive or sentimental became irritating. Fine that they had rough childhood and shity parents, but that was not a reason enough.

The Heroine of this specific book has the worse character. The Heroes aren't so bad, their characters are likeable.

This book sadly didn’t work for me. While I sympathize with what Laura is going through with her mother passing and her familial history, I for some reason couldn’t connect with her and therefore couldn’t really empathize properly. I really don’t know how Brady could have loved her so intensely for so many years while she went from place to place because she’s really selfish. I get that it comes from fear given things that have happened in her life but I just had a hard time with her attitude and choices. Even the whole arrangement with Brady, it’s incredibly selfish that she just used him to help get through dealing with her mom’s death. Even though the book had a sweet ending, I just wasn’t feeling it. Sorry to the author/those people who loved it.

The holidays can be difficult but this is especially true when you’ve experienced loss. Laura’s former alcoholic mother was killed by a drunk driver shortly before Hanukkah. There are many layers of complications there and the depiction of grief felt so authentic.

I struggled, however, with the way Laura treated Brady. She wants to forget about her pain by hooking up with her best friend but she did not take his needs and wants into consideration. Even when he finally gets on board with the plan, they don’t talk about the possible ramifications and this was painful because it was immediately obvious Brady’s been in love with her all this time.

The story was repetitive in places and there were some loose threads. I wasn’t clear on what she actually did for her job or why she was so obsessive about traveling. There also wasn’t any resolution about Brady’s job. Basically, I was Team Brady and thought he deserved better.

Ugh this had so much promise but fell flat for me. I’ve enjoyed the other novels in this series including the one Brady was featured in, so I was excited for Brady to get his own love story. Unfortunately, I just didn’t like the FMC, thought she was kind of bratty, selfish and Brady deserved better. It also felt super random that she was just fine with giving up her traveling career to take care of her mother’s shop after she resented it the whole book.

Original Chanukah friends to lovers romance

What a great find Eight Naughty Nights: A Holiday Romantic Comedy by Eliza Madison was. Ive found it so hard to find good romances that reference Jewish life. I enjoyed the author's writing style and her realistic character development, Brady and Laura so belonged together. I enjoyed sharing their journey to their HEA.

Truly beautiful

This one took a bit longer for me to warm up to than Grace and Josh’s, but it was so phenomenal that I’m ok with that❤️ this story was a lot heavier in some ways, you really got to see Laura and Brady struggle wit their own demons and with their relationship. We love a hard-won HEA!!!

Laura used her best friend Brady, in an attempt to push away the pain of losing her mother for the eight days of Hanukkah she had intended to spend with her now deceased mom. Brady knew it was a bad idea because his feelings were very deep for Laura, and he was scared he'd end up broken-hearted when Laura ran away for more international adventures. Laura's aunts and cousins made her feel inferior and deterred her from staying. The narration by Matthew Holland and Kate Mitchell was very good.

I really enjoyed the many Star Wars references and a guest appearance from my favorite feature of Milwaukee airport. Also thought the family drama and not-always-graceful coping with grief provided a nice and grounding contrast to the smutty bits. Rounding up from 3 1/2.

Maybe 4.5ish? This is my favourite in the series so far. I don't know where Eliza Madison sources info on the weird-arse things she includes in her novellas—like that "diaper" in the previous book *snort* and the condom here—but…never stop looking, Liz.

There are a few reservations, like it doesn't settle well with me that Laura uses Brady, takes advantage of his kindness and his body for most of the story. But then again, that's classic NA and romance plotline, seen in every other book. I guess it's partly because even if nothing's said, Brady cracks from time to time, and we see the signs, yet Laura always sets aside any vulnerable!Brady moments so she can forget her own hurts. Even more distressing is that for the whole novella and the years they've known each other, Brady has always felt deeply for Laura. I just…find it uneven and unfair. Does Laura's epic grovel at the end make up for that? In retrospect, it's not enough for me, although missing her flight is a huge step for someone so, uhm, self-absorbed.

Also, Brady's POV is so…token. Novella definitely could've done without it. And since it's pretty obvious what his feelings are, I don't know why the POV shifts at all. As it doesn't build up to anything, I feel it detracts from the magnitude of emotions playing around him and Laura. They are so short, so few and far between, they're virtually just intermissions.

Gripes aside, I think this is Madison's best and most emotionally powerful work yet. I feel the angst level rise with each succeeding book in the Men at Work series, but Madison skillfully creates an atmosphere that doesn't feel artificial in its depth and strength so I'm still on board. Love, love, love the sex scenes, especially when Brady the beta just can't help it (what can I say? it's a rarity). Also, enjoyable surprise spanking.

Recommending Eight Naughty Nights for the poignant, the funny, the geeky, and the steamy, which are all the terrific☆.

So my actual rating is 2.5 stars, but I really like it towards the end so I settled on 3. I was about to quit on this book very early on.... it was a little sluggish through the first 2 nights... but once you get to Brady's POV everything starts clicking into place.

Sometimes an alternate POV is a fun, helpful way for you to see a story from a different perspective. In this book, it was absolutely necessary. It wasn't until I could get into Brady's head that I started understanding everything. For the first 2 nights, I wasn't even sure I could trust Brady. Laura kept seeing something in his eyes and for all I knew he had a secret girlfriend or he had really, really uninterested in Laura. Once you can get into his head you can get behind this relationship.

This book had a LOT of the classic, if they just talked a little more, just a tiny bit more, they could see eye to eye and start to talk about a possible future. Brady's vulnerable and afraid to let Laura too far in and Laura doesn't know how to settle down, but if they can figure it out, they can truly start something great.

Overall this was a fun, kinda quick read, once you get into it. Also, Brady can wear that Santa hat all year long cause somehow he manages to make it sound like the hottest thing ever.

There's a TON, and I mean a TON, of Star Wars references, and while I didn't understand half of them, I didn't necessarily mind them either.

This is the second book by this author that I've read and I enjoy her style of writing. I also enjoy this particular trope - unrequited love from hero's side. I like Brady an awful lot. There wasn't much to dislike. He is there for Laura, the heroine, any time she needs him. He's sweet, understanding and not at all a player. My issue is Laura. I didn't like her. Her mom has just died. Laura wasn't super close with her mom, but she's torn up over her death. She feels guilt because she was helping with a relief effort in Indonesia after a natural disaster (she travels constantly), so she was unreachable when her mother died. Laura ended up missing the funeral.

Laura and Brady have a long history as friends and some sexual history from a night in a closet at a party when they were 15. There's always been a pull between them. So, Laura decides to use Brady for sex to help her cope with her grief. Brady goes along with it because he loves Laura. He's loved her for years. And she is clueless. The entire time, she is clueless. She hurts him repeatedly by being clueless, thoughtless and selfish. She is a very selfish person. I don't feel that she ever really grows in that way or does anything to redeem herself.

But, I enjoy the author's writing and I loved Brady.

Eight Naughty Nights by Eliza Madison was a spur of the moment read, late one Sunday afternoon. I literally stumbled across it in a blog & it piqued my interest. I'd never even heard of Eliza Madison, so I have yet another new author to add to my list this year! At only 124 pages it was a quick read but surprisingly good. Laura comes home to Milwaukee as she does every year to celebrate Hanukkah with her mother; only this year she arrives two weeks after her mother died in a car accident while Laura was travelling and out of communication. She is desperate to meet up with her childhood friend, Brody. She proposes that while she is trying to sort out her mother's affairs and deal with her bitter sisters, that she and Brody indulge in their mutual attraction for each other, before she heads off again for parts far away. This is exactly what Brody needs; he's been in love with Laura for years but loses a little bit of himself every time she leaves him.
The story was an easy read; the emotional tension between Laura and Brody was palpable, just as the acrimony between Laura and her mother's sisters. If you're looking for a relaxing, enjoyable read, you couldn't go wrong with Eight Naughty Nights.

Very steamy quick read!

Laura and Brady have known each other for many years, and are as close as two friends can possibly be. After her mother's death, Laura returns to her home town to drown her sorrows. She turns to Brady to make her forget and he is all too willing to assist because he has hidden the fact that he wants Laura from her since they were fifteen.

The first scene kind of bothered me; I felt like there was no lead up. (Spoiler alert) Laura gets off the plane, immediately goes to the bar where Brady is working. She tells him to make her forget and his solution is to get intimate with her. The last time they were intimate was like 8 years ago and he just drops to his knees in front of her (literally)?

I was convinced I wouldn't like the story after reading that chapter, but thankfully as the books progressed we were able to learn more about their friendship and I began to feel that these two did care about each other.

The book was incredibly short (my kindle said it would take less than 3 hours to read) which made it difficult to really get into the story.

This is Book 4 of the Milwaukee Men at Work Series!

Laura’s world has been shaken after losing her mom, and she’s bracing herself for a lonely holiday season. But returning home comes with one unexpected upside: seeing Brady again. He’s been her shortcut to joy since their teenage years, and this holiday, she’s hoping for more than just a kiss under the mistletoe.
Brady is sweet, charming, and undeniably magnetic—but can he handle a few sparks of naughty alongside the nice?

Their chemistry is playful, sexy, and heartfelt, with holiday magic woven into every flirty glance and stolen moment.
Find Me is a feel-good, festive romance that balances sizzling attraction with emotional depth. It’s a story about second chances, taking risks, and discovering that sometimes the best gifts come with a little mischief.

⭐️ Holiday romance
🔥 Sweet + steamy chemistry
🎄 Second chances under the mistletoe

I love a strong heroine and I liked that Laura set her sights on what she wants (i.e. Brady) and awkward come ons be damned. However, a main character who doesn't know what she wants felt like I was missing something. The quick tie up of loose ends in the final chapters feels familiar so there is little that makes this story stand out from the rest. A passing reference to one of the best science fiction movies does not really qualify as a quirky read, which I would have greatly welcomed. Eight Naughty Nights is less naughty and more monotonous.

This short and sweet holiday read is a somewhat predictable friends-to-lovers romance that will fill a little gap in your reading life, but won't keep you satisfied for long. If you like to know you're guaranteed a HEA, and you like your romance a tiny bit sexy and with a side-dose of grief, then Eight Naughty Nights is for you. Personally, I like a bit more length and girth to sink my teeth into, and I found it a bit too short and lacking in depth.

The Force is with this one.

I am a big fan of this series. The blazing hot sex and deep story lines are just what I look for in a romance. Add the quirks and nerdy references and you can automatically sign me up for the next book.

This one was so much fun, and with the holiday theme and all the Star Wars references, it was perfectly timed. Now I just need to dig up a bootlegged copy of the Star Wars Christmas special.

A great read.
