A love story that came about due to Fight The Landlord. [1]
Two eldest young masters who looked down on each other were forced into a blind date. Each discovered that the other was the immoral scoundrel who had poured cold water or thrown rotten tomatoes on him during a game of Fight The Landlord two days prior.
Now what?
Well, secure a partner first and figure the rest out later.

A cute, angst-free short novel about two very mature lovers. If you’re nearing your 30s and rather read about two people who Take mature decisions with open communication and dash of fun, this is definitely one for you. Being just 40 chapters is a plus point.
this book added five years to my life span. it's not a secret that i always seek out angsty stories but it's great to read a fluffy romance once in a while. this one definitely DELIVERED. i 100% loved the chemistry between the two protagonists and their relationship progressed so naturally and adorably i wanted to eat my fist a lot of times. some may say this book is too cheesy but i don't care!! i love it with my whole heart. tang kai and sun zinan are so precious together, and i love how they didn't give me too much stress. they communicate well, their relationship is healthy, and they're so in love i want to cry.
READ THIS BOOK FOR MENTAL WELLNESS. oh how i love this author so much. they write the most precious romances!!
if you're looking for a sweet, fluffy, lighthearted romance between two seemingly cold, serious men, with tons of domestic moments and hilarious banter, this is it! sure, i probably won't remember much about it in a week or two but the serotonin boost it gave me was just perfect.
I had no clue about this book. And while I do love bl dramas and books, I don’t actively look for them and just go by what everyone is talking about. So thank you to my friend Dany for recommending it to me and I didn’t even realize that this was by the same author who wrote the amazing Golden Stage.
Apparently this is kind of an AU spin-off of Golden Stage, but you won’t realize that unless you’ve read GS and are more than midway through this one. But that doesn’t matter. This book is ultimately a very cute and fluffy romance between a rich businessman with family problems and a genius professor. They seem like such an unlikely couple but fall in love pretty easily and I loved how seamless their relationship was. There was hardly any angst, probably just one chapter with some jealousy which ended up being hilarious, and some business intrigue which resulted in a couple of absolutely badass scenes. I still can’t decided if I like Sun Zinan or Tang Kai but they definitely are perfect for each other.
Overall, this was just super fun. If you need a break from all the angsty bl novels and just want a short novel with some fluff, this one is perfect. It’s a very quick read which will bring lots of smiles on your face.
This was superbly sweet and short and just what I wanted to read in this moment. I loved Sun Zinan and Tang Kai and how hilariously funny they were. Was there a bit too much drama that was mostly dealt with too quickly? Yes. Did I care about this fact? No. Instead I enjoyed this book from start to finish. It was funny, fluffy, and - as I’ve come to expect from this author - felt very real and honest. Even though it wasn’t mind blowing I loved it.
So nice and good! I mean, I honestly don't know anything about this book. I don't even know how the game works, but I saw that it was short and fluffy so I gave it a try. I've been consuming too much severe dogblood books and I've been busy with my finals so this is really a breath of fresh air!
I really loved how their relationship progressed. The way everything was described was so simple yet so vivid, it makes one wish of a gentle and sincere love for themselves. I couldn't help but feel so contented when I finished the book! Sometimes we don't need a lot of people around us just to be okay, someone who's worth the most to you is enough. The greatest support you could ever get is from someone who's willing to walk with you despite knowing that the road ahead is not a smooth one. I wish for the endless solace and love for both Sun Zinan and Tang Kai!
I'm so glad Sun Zinan found a place he could finally be comfortable with, and that place is the person he loves. He deserves all the happiness he's experiencing. Moreover, the people who have been very bad to our Little Nan are finally out of his life, and specific ones got what they deserved. I can now finally rest in peace. I feel like sending my precious daughter to his soon to be husband. Tang Kai will be a very good provider, I hope our Nan Nan gets spoiled a lot. Although Tang Kai is the one who is getting spoiled rotten. Haha!
“If you don’t let me call you Nan Nan, then should I call you Baby? Dear? Sweetheart fruit?” -Tang Kai “I think it’s good if you just call me husband.” -Sun Zinan “Ah? What?” -Tang Kai “Husband.” -Sun Zinan “Ai, I’m here.” -Tang Kai “Get out!” -Sun Zinan
This was so cute. It was about two adults that are deeply lonely and don’t ever open themselves up to others and their journey in learning how to depend on someone else and how much happier life can be with a support system. Sun Zinan seems like an aggressive young master, but he’s just very disciplined and independent. Tang Kai seems very cold and ascetic, but he’s just very careful about who he chooses to be friendly with. Together, they were surprisingly warm, which proves that with the right person, you can make compromises and evolve together.
Also their sense of humor made the story:
“Emperor, you must listen to concubine, concubine has been wronged!” -Tang Kai
Such a sweet story ♥️ This short novel is exactly what I needed after finishing a series loaded with angst. A quick, fun, easy, read that will have you smiling (almost)throughout the whole book.
It’s so cuuuuute and wholesome, short and fluffy!!! Especially the beginning and middle, they are so damn cute. (Not that the end was bad, I just like the relationship-building stages… but we get to see them be a sweet and loving established couple which is wonderful also.) I can’t say I was surprised by much but it was a soft and feel-good read and I’d read it again.
fight the landlord, fall in love is just a novel full of fluff. all of the conflicts are resolved within one chapter so there isnt much of anything keeping you reading because you know that any issue will be solved right away. if you are looking for a short and sweet book try this one out but if you need any sort of strong plot line to keep you engaged, i probably wouldn’t recommend this one
I really hate to give CWBB a bad review, but I did not particularly enjoy this novel. I didn't vibe with Sun Zinan (MC) and Tang Kai (ML). They were both so so so unrelatable: one was Mr. Rich Guy with the most unrealistic weird family drama and the other literally had never experienced any sort of challenge in his life before. I'm not exaggerating, CWBB explicitly says the latter. I also didn't feel much romantic chemistry between them. The relationship depicted was healthy and wholesome if that's your thing, but it felt like the characters were kind of just going through the motions. The side characters and antagonists were pretty weak, too. The corporate family politics was predictable, and the conflicts in the plot were pretty boring. I could tell that CWBB had a lot of fun writing this, though. Lots of cheesy moments that felt very self-indulgent. Some funny moments that made me laugh. There was a Golden Terrace characters cameo, which was interesting. Wang Geng and Yu Liang (side characters) reminded me of Chu Shuzhi and Guo Changcheng (from Guardian by Priest). Not too mad about spending time reading this, as it only took me a day. Just a little disappointed.
Rereading this now I realized that I gave it more stars than I should've. Initially it was a 5* because it's written by Cang Wu Bin Bai and because it was quite sweet.
But now I think it's a biiit too cheesy for me (and I should really pick up something with more plot) so I'll deduct a star.
"There was probably no one else in this world who could make him this softhearted, almost to the point of pain."
i feel like, if anyone were to take a quick look at my ratings this year, they would think i'm being too generous. so many five stars. here's the thing, though: these novels DESERVE IT. take this one for an excellent example. i have just finished it, and i read it so fast, and now all i want to do is go back and read it all over again. "fight the landlord, fall in love" is a sweet, carefully crafted, well-though love story. sun zinan is my favorite character. i love him so much, from his personality to his actions throughout the story. i feel like, although this is a short novel, we begin by seeing him as a little bird trapped in a cage, and, as we move on, we see him open that cage himself with the help of his beloved and become a free little bird. so adorable. also, tang kai. he's so good. so so so so so so good. he's just everything, and his love for sun zinan--as well as sun zinan's love for him--is one of the sweetest things in the world. i even love some of the side characters, the ones that we are meant to love. again, SO WELL-CRAFTED. i'm really glad i decided to read this. i hope i'll be able to forget all about it soon, so that i can go back and reread it. until then, i hope everyone will take into consideration that this is just great, and immediately go read it.
Webnovels are usually soooo long but this one is a relatively short and sweet one, and I really mean sweet.
I am quite particular about enemies-to-lovers tropes but I had no issues with this one. Our beautiful boys started off prejudiced against each other but eventually developed the cutest and most hilarious chemistry together, while helping each other grow and work through their individual hardships 💖
If you want a wholesome and simple danmei, this is the one. It was honestly such a balm after a brutal work week!
So much fluff! Super sweet and it is such a lovely slice of life. Not too much conflict, anything that comes up is dealt with relatively quick, which is nice.
The main characters start being enemies in this phone app game called "fight the landlord" to end up being set un in a blind date by the father of one of them. That match is only for monetary/power gain so it ended pretty bad...
BUT after some other encounters they found maybe they really are good for each other and then of course is when the family object.
They are lovely together, so many sweet moments! My only BUT is at the end chapters, they go pretty far fetched on theplot... but the ending is over the top so yeah we stan.
This book barge into my house, swept me off my feet, and kissed me on the mouth. Jk what does that even mean I was kidding XD. Basically, what I mean to say is that this book really did make my day. It was super cute to see the development of the relationship between the main leads. It was all very sweet. This novel is basically the opposite of literally every BL/GL Novel out there- all fluff, minimal angst.
This book isn’t very heavy plot wise but that’s ok. We all need breaks from super duper serious and plotty books from time to time. I really liked how they handled the relationship between SZN and his family. I really enjoyed all those domestic moments and I got really hungry from all the descriptions of food. Like, hey, I know how to cook perfectly well but damn would I not like a man (or woman) who could cook me gourmet at the drop of a hat.
Like I said it’s all fluff. It has the sort of slice of life vibe, similar to Very Happy in this aspect. Actually you can compare them. They both have relatively unproblematic relationship dynamics, unli fluff, and like some bg drama to drive a minor plot lol.
So now I can tell u if u wanna unwind and read about idiots in love, read either this or Very Happy. I was smiling the entire time I was reading this.
This was simply just sweetness. Watching these two go from an unlikely bickering acquaintance to a sweet, strong, and supportive relationship suffused me with happiness. I just really enjoy how much these two communicate and get along; how their bickering leads to laughter, all the card game jokes, the little bout of sulky jealousy, MC's supportive uncles, the MC's practicality and unwillingness to disrespect others T__T I loved them both so much. I could just keep listing all of the things.
It was sweet, low conflict, and a wonderful relationship. Highly recommend if you want to read something short, light, and guaranteed to put you in a good mood.
i went into this book expecting to meet a full-on rivalry as most danmei have, but this is not an enemies-to-lovers story (despite what multiple people have said it is). their distaste for one another lasts exactly 50 pages and we moved on. nonetheless, I enjoyed it. which speaks volumes because I don't like books that are romance and fluff and nothing else. i like an interesting plot, some hiccups, and some drama. this book did not have most of these but it's fine because I loved it all the same.
tang kai and sun zinan's love was really fresh, adorable, and eye-opening. not gonna lie, this was more of a culturally traditional type of romance, which I really liked because I feel like it suits them both better as individuals. there was just no red flags in sight. good for them
however, the story would frequently get boring at times, but luckily it would always have more fluff to lure you in after. i want what they have
This was a sweet and cute story, honestly. I really liked how Sun Zinan (MC) and Tang Kai's (ML) relationship developed. They were both so sweet on each other, respectful towards each other and for the most part, there weren't many stupid misunderstandings due to miscommunication. The fact that TK was an intellectual yet knew martial arts and could protect SZN was probably one of my favourite parts about this story. Actually, they were both overprotective over each other but it was slightly more obvious on TK's part because he just wanted to protect SZN who didn't have any much (or any) support from his family.
Oh, and I also really liked the fact that this story included a character that was a crossdresser and other gay couples besides the main couple. I guess this can be considered diversity? 😂
