What happens when you send an accidental dick pic with your resume?

On the run from dark-web criminals, Lucian Bolt has given up on a permanent safe place - all he needs is a temporary one, so he can earn some quick cash and run again. Better to flee than linger in the truth: Because of his electronic whispering abilities, his family has been murdered. A person like him doesn't deserve happiness.

Then Lucian meets Knox, and things change.

As the boss of Whole Fish Seafoods, Knox has everything - except a family. Fifty years ago, wolf-shifters murdered his mate and child. Believing himself a failure, Knox has sworn off taking another mate...until he meets the job applicant that stumbles into his office.

Lucian smells like wolves. Suspicious, Knox frisks him and plants his seed in Lucian. Only to find out a week later that Lucian's not the non-magic human he claimed to be. And that Lucian is now pregnant... with a dragon child.

With Knox, Lucian glimpses what a happy future could be like. And with Lucian, Knox has someone to protect again. As the sparks between them grow, and as the dark tendrils of their pasts coil ever closer, can Lucian and Knox find their way to a future together?

The Dragon Boss is a stand-alone dragon-shifter novel with sentient shopping carts, a kraken, and a dragon who will not fail his mate. No cheating, no cliff-hangers, but there definitely is a happily ever after.

DNF at 50%. The book started with a good plot and it just went downhill. Plenty of repetitive He-loves-me-he-loves-me-not and kinda going around in circles. This book would have benefitted from a good trim, should have kept this shorter.. like half the number of pages..

ETA: Just finished listening to this on audiobook and I LOVED it! John Solo did a great job bringing Lucian, Knox, and Octogod to life. I really loved it! Highly recommended in any format, this story is wonderful!

Anna Wineheart has such a way with world building and storytelling, it just works for me on every level as a reader. Seriously, if you haven't read anything from this author, start with Wizard by the Sea and get ready to fall in love. I loved this, right away, and LOVED the epilogue!

With this story, we enter a world with shifters, magic, krakens, mpreg, stinky doggos, and two men with tragic pasts who are perfect for each other. Lucian is a electrical whisperer, meaning that he can plug into anything electronic with his finger (or, ahem, other body parts lol) and hack into anything from anywhere. He meets Knox, a dragon shifter, when he accidentally sends more than just his resume to Knox’s business.

When these two meet its chemistry and fire (literally, too), right away. Both are kinda running from their pasts - Knox with the loss of his mate and child, and Lucian from the murder of his parents and the kraken that wants to use him for illegal means. There’s some drama when the kraken chasing Lucian catches up to them both, and I wish that sometimes they were better at talking to each other, rather than making assumptions, but I just loved Lucian and Knox.

I loved the side characters (creatures?) so much in this...from Lucian’s two dogs (who aren’t your typical dogs), to the shopping carts he fixes (and they follow him home! And chase ice cream trucks!), down to the quirky door lock and kitchen faucet. I know what I’m saying probably makes no sense, but there is so much in this story that makes it original and different.

And I loved the mpreg and mates aspects of this story as well. For fans of a slow mpreg, where it progresses slowly over the course of the story, you’ll love this! Lucian burps smoke and fire since the baby is a dragon! And I loved the ritual to becoming mates. Again, creative and original. Outstanding story, I highly recommend this!

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Yeah...NO! This story needs editing along with world/character development. I really did try with this one, and at times it did keep my attention. Unfortunately, at only 35%, I had to call it quits.

This was GREAT... but, and yes, there always seems to be a "but"... was I the only one that felt like she/he was always getting information without an explanation or a build up to what had just happened? I would have LOVED to had some world building with this one... so many unexplained in your face issues... grrr

Like, it took me a bit to figure out the locks, faucets and shopping carts? OK, I am old... I need forewarning and details! *headdesk* ;p

The enemies were clear until they weren't and the MC's loved each other until they didn't... BUT when it was all said and done, the enemy was vanquished... love conquered all... and last but NOT least... we got Orion!

Like I said... this was a GREAT read! *grin*

The Dragon Boss by Anne Wineheart
Rating: 3 stars
Not sure why I chose this book to read. The blurb didn’t really endear me to it that’s for sure. For a book that made me roll my eyes throughout, I enjoyed it more than I expected to. I think it was the farting magical dogs and the sentient shopping carts that won me over. Even after reading the book, I still don’t have a grasp on how this world really works. It’s not the best book, I’ve ever read that’s for sure, but still it entertained me and made me smile in places. Just not sure I would read any more in the series.

Too much repetitive information. Not enough relevant information, like scene settings and basic background info about the world that the story is set in. I was confused for the first twenty minutes of the book. Way too much back and forth on decisions made by the characters. It had the bones of a good story but a lot of bad writing made this a dud.

✮ (¸.•´✶Dragons, and whisperers and villains, oh my!

Anna, Anna, Anna. I have really enjoyed the stories you have produced. This one--THIS has gone beyond paranormal. This is urban fantasy paranormal. This was a fabulous way to introduce readers to a ??new?? being, the whisperers. I have been reading PRNs for a while now and I cannot say I have heard of them before.

This story centered around Lucian, an electronic whisperer and Knox (how cool is that name?), a dragon, both of whom had lost their family. The world was set up of magic, and beings known to humans. There were so many characters that were introduced and left room for further exploration. The synopsis tells a great deal of what happens in the book, but I would encourage readers to take a chance and read about something with a twist. Falling in love, MPREG, mystery, suspense and angst. I truly enjoyed this and look forward to more exciting words from Anna.

I voluntarily and honestly reviewed this book without bias or persuasion from the author.

Dragons!!

Wow! That was a great story! Much more depth and emotion than I was expecting. Kind of a slow burn as these two mc’s have a lot of emotional baggage, guilt and danger associated with each. Will their fears bring them closer or separate them forever? If you enjoy shifter mm romance then definitely give this a read!

**Audible Review**

Ok from the start I was a little confused on what was going on with Lucian and the things around him but more and more of his talent was revealed, it became clear. After that pic was sent to Knox, I was all the way in. Entertainment overload. Knox was the ultimate alpha dragon while Lucian was the sweet as pie techie/whisperer. Totally opposites but hey they attract and their chemistry was off the charts. The action was riveting...the romance was lovely. John Solo as always was wonderful with the voices. Overall an enjoyable 10hrs of listening pleasure. Nice!

Not quite there

I was rather disappointed in this book. I really wanted to like, and had snatches of time that I enjoyed it, but for the most part I was simply trying to get through it.

This book clearly is clearly set in a magical world, but so little explanation is given to that. Apparently magical people and non-magical people coexist and are in awareness of each other, but it isn't clear is this has always been, or was some sort of world change. There are clearly many types of magical people, but we get barely an idea of them. Descriptions of people are creature within the world are equally minimal. Lucian's beloved Paluge's are described as ice dog-cats, but we never get an idea of what that means beyond apparently copious amounts of farting. By never getting a sense of this world it always felt distant.

The other lacking factor, and pretty much the other half of the book, was the romance. Lucian and Knox first sleep together because Knox didn't trust him and was......interrogating Lucian? With sex? Knox and Lucian then work together, the pregnancy becomes revealed, and Knox tries to court Lucian. It all seemed fine, but I never really felt the chemistry between the two. There was too much rushed weirdness and it made it hard to buy it.

It was a story I read and saw some fond moments in, but not overall a story I exactly loved.

DNF. A god-awful mess of "story." There's nothing wrong with crafting an absurdist tale in a fantastical alternate reality. However, such a story needs to make sense within the confines of its fictional world. This one makes no sense, not even absurdist "sense" like with Terry Pratchett's Discworld. No, it is just a rambling mess. For example, this is how the "story" begins:

Lucian Bolt is on the run from a criminal syndicate which has already murdered his entire family as a means to force him to use his electronic whispering magic to commit cyber-crimes. (Why would criminals do that? One would think the criminals would threaten, kidnap or torture the family to force his hand, but apparently these criminals just murdered everybody and thought that might get Lucian to obey them???).

Needing money, Lucian sends a resume to a seafood company, accidentally sending a dick pic along with the resume. His electronic whispering magic isn't fast enough to keep the company from printing his resume + dick pic, so he breaks into the facility after-hours, intending to steal the dick pic. Instead, the boss, Knox, catches him, assumes he was sent by the werewolves that twice murdered his entire family (so that is three sets of families murdered by criminals) and takes Lucian to Knox's office to interrogate him. How does Knox interrogate this guy he just met, doesn't trust, and thinks might be working with werewolves to kill him? He strips Lucian while "frisking" him and has consensual sex with him while doing the interrogation and still not trusting him. This makes no goddam sense! And, the story gets even more incoherent after that.

I'm calling it! DNF at 49%. This was just a mess. The plot was ludicrous featuring highlights like magical ice dog farts, sentient shopping carts, and an evil doer named Octogod- no relation to Octodad. What really got me was that the instalove element really conflicted with the whole 'I don't trust anybody or anything for traumatic reasons' deal that both characters had going on. Like seriously, one second Knox is accusing Lucian of being a wolf spy-assassin and the next second they're making love. It was just weird. All around weird. Did not enjoy.

Ok first there is no world building. Having some would have helped in understanding what was going on. Second there is a lot of repletion that isn't needed. The book could have used a really good editor. If there had been a bit more world building alone I would have bumped this up at least a star. Having said that it is cute. I liked the basic plot. The two MCs had a rough go in life and they still managed to gleam a bit of hope out there to go on. Lovely underlying ideas.

This is my second time through this book, I just love everything Anna writes. So very HAWT! I love shifter stories, so this was perfect for me. I love how she created the magic world within the non-magic world. Knox and Lucian were perfect for each other. They were both hurt by the same creature and were able to heal each other. So very YUMMY!!

This book gets 5/5 trash-film-stars and 2/5 story stars
I should have known much earlier than I did – latest when I read that the Kraken foe is called Octogod – that I was in for a read that took itself 0% seriously. I can imagine this book being created somewhat like this (attempt at humour not affront):

Three friends have been having a fun night. Each has several white wine spritzers to their name and no obligations tomorrow, when they start dreaming up new ideas:

Lauren: "Imagine a world where metal objects are alive"
Sarah: "Ooh you mean like tin openers? Or grabs wine opener from table wine openers?"
Anna: "Dream bigger! What about shopping carts?"
Lauren: "Imagine the shopping carts befriend this adorable little nerd and follow him around?"
collective sighs

Sarah: "You know I do love hackers but it always seems so weird to me that they can do things so quickly – like it would make much more sense if they could control it via their brain or so."
Anna: "Yeah all they'd need is to sort of get in contact with some kind of controller and then they'd become the controller!"
Lauren: "Haha they could like even control it with their tongue or dick – oh they'd get electric shocks then – never mind...kinkkkky"
collective giggles

Sarah: "It would make sense if their partner was somehow immune to electric shocks or lightning"
Lauren: "or fire–"
All together: "A dragon!"
Anna: "Ooh then he can also make our little brain-hacking-nerd pregnant!"
Lauren: "Oh don't get me started – the morning sickness memories linger and linger..."
Sarah: "What if you could like tell he's pregnant differently for a change–"
Lauren: "Haha like smokey burps"
Anna: "Oh yeah and when he then eats really spice food he can breathe fire!"
Sarah and Lauren: "Anna! Get over your obsession with food already!"
Anna wears a smug smile

Once I accepted that this book has wholeheartedly embraced ridiculousness I enjoyed it. There were funny and sexy moments galore.

My biggest complaint was their relationship:
- Both are afraid of not being good enough
- Early I-love-yous while still full of self-doubt
- Huge distrust: like who lands their pregnant mate in prison at 70%
- But then goes to rescue him in record timing with a caravan of shopping carts following along
- and which pregnant mal-nutritioned mate gets over it immediately? Oh yeah this guy who theoretically has an amazing brain

Also we're teasered with different kinks and positions but then don't get them:

Electric shock kink:
The vibrations of the projector carried from the tip of his cock into his body, and the hot air of the fan blew across his skin. It looked lewd, him with his cock out, its tip shoved against the machine, as though he was having some sort of kinky computer sex." (p.123)

Bottoming dragon:
"I was in the servers again. Briefly. Just to remove that dick pic. I sent with my resume."
"Yeah?"
"I didn't think you wanted them in your system," Lucian said, his cheeks flushing with heat. "I mean..."
"It probably won't do very well in my system," Knox said. He glanced at Lucian's hips, and Lucian felt hot all over. "But we could try it sometime." (p. 109-110)

Partially shifted sex:
"Lucian tasted like soap, like musk, and Knox withdrew his tongue. Slid it back inside, deeper than before. "Knox–"
Knox pressed his face against Lucian's damp skin, swirling his tongue around inside. Withdrew again. "Could do much better as a dragon," he murmured. "Tongue's longer then. Don't wanna break your bed though." (p. 167)

But we do get:

LubeDirectTM:
He fit the opening of the lube bottle against Lucian's hole, and squeezed a good amount into him." (p. 168)

Scent-marking:
"Mine," Knox growled, nudging Lucian's balls with his snout. "All mine." Lucian squirmed, his cock thickening. Knox breathed smoke between his legs, down his back, and against his ass.
"Does every inch of me have to smell like you?"
Knox's eyes gleamed. "Yes." (p.177-178)

Fire shotgunning:
"Breathe fire again," Knox said, squeezing Lucian's arm. "Looks good on you."
So Lucian breathed, and Knox sucked the flames into his mouth. Leaned closer, meshing their lips together. Swallowed. Knox took all the flames he had to offer, sliding his fingers down Lucian's arm." (p. 194)

Another take on where shifters clothes truly go:
"But I've never figured out where your clothes go."
Knox flapped his wings, testing them. "They're folded under my scales, somewhere along my back. C'mon." (p.319)

That's it for today, and welcome to my TED Talk.

I am always happy with Anna Wineheart comes out with a new book, and she didn’t let me down with this one about a dragon and an electronics whisper.

Lucian was born an electronics whisper, a person who with just a finger inserted into the NIC port and presses it against the copper contact and the binary code of the computer whispers into his mind. A whisper can change anything once into any system even if it has passwords or is encoded with high-tech security, that’s why they are sought after by criminal minds and are either kidnapped or killed if betrayed.

Lucian is such a whisper who has been running from a dark dangerous enemy. He lives with his two weird dogs and shopping carts. You really have to read the book to understand the shopping carts, they’re hilarious. Lucian’s searching for a new job and has just sent his two pictures of himself and his application form. But when he looks at what was sent one of the pictures was of his dick!

The whole scene of Lucian running into the place he sent his application, Whole Fish Seafoods, couldn’t get much better than the way Anna Wineheart writes it. It’s where Lucian meets the owner of the place, Knox who becomes his boss.

Knox has his own sorrows and problems and the Lucian presents himself only makes Knox feel like the man is working for his enemy. Knox brings Lucian into his office, frisks him, and interrogates the poor man in such a manner Lucian is getting nothing more than horny while he pleads his innocents. The result of such a sexual encounter left Lucian pregnant with Knox’s child; a child that Knox has wanted for years and Lucian is more than happy to have.

The relationship between Lucian and Knox is a complicated one throughout the book. They both suffered extreme losses of family from their enemy that was pursuing them that they both suffered from survivor guilt. Octogod is the name of the dangerous dark enemy tracking Lucian no matter where he’s moved.

This book is one of betrayal, emotional guilt, love, acceptance and danger for the new couple as they think about being with each other and making a commitment to mate. There is never a dull moment in the story and Anna Wineheart kept me intrigued as to what would happen next.

I highly recommend this book, especially for Anna Wineheart’s and dragon fans though I was sad to see there was not a discounted price to begin with. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced read copy of this book.

A great shifter story! I'd recommend this book, one of my favourites from Anna.
Lucian, in his haste to complete a job application, includes a picture of quite the intimate area. He runs to to workplace but the HR manager has seen and told Knox, the business owner. Upon meeting, Knox's history leads him to thinking Lucian could be a spy for the wolves and decides to question him. This, however, leads to a more up close and personal inspection than either of them were expecting. Lucian is trying to keep hidden from people looking for him and Knox wants to keep him close so he gets the job. Perfect for the to get to know each other and maybe even become more, whilst keeping Lucian far away from people from the dark web.
I enjoyed the dragon being the shifter in this story and the way history/ritual involved with mates and family. The way Knox shifted is also slightly different from other books, very quick with a gold light emitted. Another different aspect is Lucien's ability - a whisper. It's what he's being targeted for, to use his abilities to hack/abuse the internet for gain by criminals.
It took me a couple of chapters to grasp what was going on with Lucien, his ability and the story line that he was on. Once he got to meeting Know and things were explained a little more, I really enjoyed the story and the emotions between the characters. You can tell the feelings between the MC's are strong even though they come up quite quick. There isn't really any supporting characters apart from the dogs (with their own abilities) and the carts/trolleys (sentient metal items) but it doesn't take anything from how much there is to the goings on with everyone involved or the history that each character has been through separately.
Tension builds up with Lucien and Know growing closer and also not able to fully trust that all will be well with the constant threat to Lucien and by association, Know.
The story flows well and once I got past the first couple of chapters, I really fell into it. Reading straight through until finished, it was quite involving.
I received an ARC of this book an am happily giving a review.

This book was so much fun. The world building itself was so quirky and original, it made me jealous and made me want to live in a magical world where door locks smile at you or crunch stranger's keys, and shopping carts trail after you like stray dogs looking for masters. It is a special universe where magical people can mate with alpha shifters and have their babies. There is a richness of opportunity for such a variety of stories to be told, because magical people have diverse talents, like our main guy, Lucian, who is an electronics whisperer. He can control and communicate with computers, with any touch of his body (literally any part of his body, which turns into a fun adventure) and is in hiding from corrupt, evil people trying to use his talent. Unfortunately, he is broke and needs a job, and decides to apply at Whole Fish, a company owned by Knox, a sexy, sexy dragon shifter. But Lucian's a little distracted while applying and ends up sending his resume, along with a compromising picture. As he realizes his mistake, he decides to break into the company to try and steal back his pic, only to be trapped and accosted by the big boss himself. To say that job interviews aren't supposed to be this fun is an understatement. Knox, suspicious of Lucian and thinking he is some sort of spy for enemy wolves, ends up breaking all manner of work regulations, and Lucian ends up with a new job...and a baby. I really loved the details in this book, they were so whimsical, like being pregnant and burping up smoke! How cute is that? Or having dogs that can fart ice! So funny. Although I did find Lucian and Knox to fall into insta-love, I enjoyed how sweet their relationship turns out to be. Both characters are quite likable, Lucian is sweet and sassy with a soft spot for weird creatures, while Knox is serious and devoted and has a romantic side, and both have tragic pasts that they need to recover from with each other's help. It was a fun book, and I liked it very much. I hope there's more adventures in this universe, I'd love to see more quirky, magical farting dogs, and temperamental faucets!

The Dragon Boss (Shifters of Cartwell 1)

****** Spoiler Alert ******
I first read Anna Wineheart's book, How to Hide Your Dragon Baby. It was within the same universe as Cartwell I think. 🤔
This book, Dragon Boss is about 2 different shifters. One extremely rare and wanted on the black market. Lucien was exactly one of those. He could plug any part of his body including unmentionable into different ports and wires. Any of them could reach out to anywhere. He had the ability to break into banks. Break into the Presidential private rooms, everywhere. But he didn't, not anymore. Not since his whole family died. Then he tried to get basic job at Whole Fish. Well between his dogs and shopping carts that had a thing for him, he accidentally sent the company a very dirty picture. The HR Director called the owner down.
The owner, Knox, smelling the dogs on him was convinced he was a wolf. Ha! Well he pulled him in his office and proceeded to have very erotic and intimate relations with him. He then offered him the job on a trial basis. Why? Knox can read people's heartbeats and tell if they are lying. He wasn't. But he did show Knox where things were not good IT security wise. After a bit Knox realized exactly how talented he truly was.
Then he found out Lucien was pregnant. He was ecstatic. Lucien was frightened because he was running for his life. The more they got to know each other, the more they found out both families and Knox's former mate were all killed by the same guy Octogod. It was not until Lucien had been chased away from his place that he came to work looking for Knox. He could not find him so he and the dogs went to the basement which he should not have been able to get in to but he could get into most electrical things and he had a Dragon inside. He got in and was met with Knox. But then there was something in the basement. Turns out...
Ok I am not saying! Because this book is good. Very erotic! But also very scary and mysterious! Like the most mysterious Mafia type you have never seen!

An absolute MUST READ!

I had one major gripe with this book. There was absolutely no world-building in this story. Normally I find authors spend too much time on this, but I have finished this book and I'm still not really clear on how prevalent/known magic and paranormal folks are to the general populace. I mean, semi-sentient shopping carts and door locks would seem to indicate that magic is a known and universal function in this world. And there was even some explanation of electricity cancelling out magic so that cars and appliances couldn't be magic - though what about an older car that doesn't have all of the computer stuff? Yet, I was never sure if the normal humans had any idea that there were dragons, whisperers, krakens, werewolves, etc. around them. It was only ever the paranormals who ever referred to that side of things, and I would think that if magic were widely accepted, the LA police would have protected their jail with both magic and technology.

The actual romance between Lucian and Knox was sweet and followed the basic trope that these books have. There weren't any big surprises to it, but it was fun to read (for the most part without being able to understand the world that they lived in). But I found that Lucian's insistence that he was a bad person for causing Octogod to murder his family to be annoying and I was disappointed in Knox for accepting it and just telling Lucian that he could be better now. LUCIAN ISN'T TO BLAME FOR THE BAD CHOICES OF OTHER PEOPLE!!!! I can understand his feelings of guilt, but to actually believe he is evil because someone evil targeted him was BS.

I was also a bit disappointed in how flat all of the supporting characters in this book were. I didn't understand why Knox's employees reacted as they did throughout the book, specifically Steph and Ron. They felt like generic caricatures and not real.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Lucien is a tech witch, one of the few on earth. His family was murdered by someone trying to get to him, so he flies under the radar. He’s 26. Lucien is described as blonde and slender with thin legs.

Knox is a 100 year old dragon, but looks like he’s in his 30s. He’s half a head taller than Lucien and has a lot more muscle with broad shoulders. He has dark hair and brown eyes (well, the book said “gleaming mahogany eyes,” which I took as brown). His parents were murdered. His mom was a dragon pirate with scars and tattoos! I don’t know how that works and I don’t care because it’s so cool.

This story was a little wild and nearly crack. It has a kraken villain named Octogod who wants Lucien to magically hack into “the president’s databases.” It has dogs that burp ice. It throws the reader into the world with no explanation and then kind of explains some things as they come up. I was glad that it didn’t do the “the MCs don’t know the main tenants of their world just so it can be explained to the reader” or an info dump. If you’ve read anything by this author before it won’t surprise you. It’s a cotton candy book - not a meal, but darn tasty when you get a craving. The White Fang scene (where Lucian chases Knox away to protect him) was a bit abrupt but again, cotton candy.

The opening sequence between the two MCs was unexpected and unexpectedly hot. It’s actually why I decided to read the book, lol - I like the trope of sex first and relationship after. For me, it helps avoid the moonlighting curse. What followed was a mix of sex and action and romance and honestly camp. I also didn’t understand why Knox couldn’t be in the room when Lucien was giving birth. Unless he’s going to pass out, what’s the problem?

Overall it was just what I felt like reading and I’m glad I got to!

👍💕👬 Lots of crazy magic and a pair that 🔥 blazes (literally!) off the page!
February 18, 2018
Format: Kindle Edition
👍I've read a number of the author's mpreg novels before; this was a solidly good, imaginative story, still based around a🔥 red hot 👬 relationship that results immediately in an unexpected pregnancy. The magic surrounding Lucian, the non shifter tech geek in the couple, is very different and unexplained. From my first introduction to animated shopping carts, water faucets and door locks, I found that I had to just "go with the flow" and adapt to Wineheart's new, magical world.

The 😖 angst from past losses of loved ones for both heroes is a constant presence in this story and makes for a lot of retrospection and guilt trips, but it also provides a solid common base of experience for Lucian and his 🐲 dragon shifter boss Knox. I liked both heroes and understood their regrets. It does seem, though, that barely a moment of their relationship, at least for the majority of the book, can escape the downer thoughts of their past failures that resulted in loss of family.

Be prepared for a good bit of violence, including bloody and mutilating fight sequences. The principal villain 🐙 is vile, from his appearance to the way he treats everyone, but especially the two heroes. The intimate scenes were really 🔥hot and some were a tad long for my taste, but were accompanied by caring, 😍 romantic interludes that left warm and fuzzies in their wake.:-)

I received a complimentary advance copy of this book from the author; this is my voluntary and honest review.

Mixed feelings

So I stuck it out and I'm glad I did. The ending of this book made the rocky start well worth reading.
I usually really like this authors books but this one just didn't read the same. However the pacing of this book, especially in the beginning, made it harder to get into the story. If I'm being honest it felt more like a rough draft then a finished copy.
The beginning, were Lucien ends up pregnant, read more like I was watching a porn video, and not a very good one at that. I'm not really sure whether the author was trying to make it funny or not but it just made me feel really bad for Lucien.

I'm glad I stuck it out though because I really liked the ending of the book even though a lot of what happened was pretty predictable. It got really sweet and you could actually feel like they were meant to be together after they stopped being idiots.

However I am only giving it three stars. I took one star off for the beginning, it really needs to be fixed because it does not flow well at all. And I'm taking another star because the blurb that comes with this book, at least the way I interpret it, was way off base. Gave me the assumption that Lucien was going to be a bit more then just another damsel in distress. Also the part where he gets kidnapped gets pretty dark, feel like that could use a TW cause I'm sure there would be some that would bother.

I received an ARC edition of this book from the author.

This book is really funny. The "sentient shopping carts" were an especially amusing set of characters. I wasn't sure in the beginning if I really was going to like Know and Lucian together, but by the end I thought they made a cute couple. Although there were certainly times when I wanted to shake Lucian, I could at least see his motives most of the time so he didn't come across as completely TSTL for me.

I do wish there had been more world building in the beginning of the story. I felt a little lost about some of the elements (honestly, still not real sure I have a handle on some of the world-building elements in this story). It can be very tricky to let readers know how the world works without subjecting them to massive info-dumps or having the characters explain things they should know, but I feel this book went a little too far to the other side and only too far in did anything get explained.

Wow, first of all I'd like to say that I really like the beautiful cover of this book. The story within it's pages was enchanting. I mean, seriously, "Bumwheel-Bob", "Flatwheel Finn"! :D I couldn't stop laughing through so many parts of this romance. It was hilarious. I enjoyed the author's style of writing along with her creativity. There were also portions of the story that saddened, and then upset me.

I'm not a fan of angst between the two main characters, and one of them was just so wrong in his actions towards the other (which I found to be totally unnecessary). So to be honest, that wasn't exactly my favorite part. I do love how the dragon was present a lot of the time, and even flew around with his mate at one point. Also, the villain of the story was imaginative and disgusting. Just awesome. =) The pacing was solid, and the main characters were well depicted. I couldn't get over the whole shopping cart thing. It was hilarious, yet so adorable. It was an unexpected concept that just wowed me with it's uniqueness. Loved it.

I voluntarily reviewed an advance readers copy of this book.

I know people hate to leave less than 4- or 5-star reviews, but while this has potential, it needs work. After an unprofessional start, electronics whisperer, Lucian, begins work and a relationship with his boss, Knox, a dragon shifter. Meanwhile, the evil kraken, Octogod, wants Lucian for himself. I loved the author’s quirky imagination, there are sentient shopping trolleys and locks, ice dogs, and many more magical creatures. In fact, my head was swimming trying to make sense of this magical world because there is little explanation of these creatures and virtually no building of this urban fantasy world, they all just exist. Lucian and Knox fall in instalove but kept questioning it - so did I, they didn’t know each other and the author kept substituting sex scenes for romance scenes. While the narrative sat largely with Lucian, so we got to know him, there was minimal character building of Knox. John Solo narrates the audiobook with his usual verve, but even he couldn’t wallpaper over all these cracks. Also, the blurb should mention it’s an MPREG story.
