"I just got word from headquarters. I have a haunting inspection THIS Sunday."
"And that's bad?"
"Bad doesn't even begin to describe it."

Simon the ghost and Chester the human are best friends. The two fellas used to be so lonely but found a wonderful friendship but that's not so great for a haunting inspections.

Maxine Scareawitz, ghost inspector, has failed every single location haunted by Simon so far and Simon desperately wants to pass this time.

"And the worst, WORST part is every time I fail, I get transferred somewhere new!"

Meanwhile Chester is invited to a sleepover -- not just any sleepover -- he's invited to cool guy Ricky's birthday party. Which is really cool (in theory) but Chester immediately becomes super nervous.

"But I don't know how these things work. What am I supposed to talk about? Do people wear matching pajamas? What if they only invited me as a joke?"

How will Simon haunt a home when Chester's at a sleepover? How will Chester survive this sleepover without Simon?

I am really vibing with this series!

The plot of the first book made me think this series was going to be Simon and Chester solving mysteries together (which I loved the idea of) but this book made it clear that the series is more focused on their friendship and fun antics.

The plot worked pretty well - I really enjoyed watching Chester overcome his nervousness and fear about the big party. I remember my first party-sleepover and while there wasn't any ghost-crashing, there certainly were a few times that I wished I could go home.

As always, Simon's hilarious take on the world really cinched the story for me. I love that little ghost - his dialogue is so funny and the author really brings him to life with the illustrations.

Can't wait to continue the series!!

This story is going so well. I am fully invested in Simon and Chester.

Simon and Chester Super Sleepover! follows a boy and his ghost as they help each other train for two very different yet very scary things: Simon's haunting inspection (which he's never passed before!) and Chester's very first sleepover. These best friends are always there to support each other - and participate in some hilarious hijinks along the way!
Simon and Chester is a great children's middle grade graphic novel series that both my daughter (age 9) and I highly recommend! We laughed out loud several times and appreciated the humor and heart in Simon and Chester's friendship.

This series is so stinking cute! It’s lighthearted, funny, and the characters are loveable. Sure to stick with you.

In this installment of Simon and Chester we follow each of them as they lean on each other for support. Chester is invited to his first sleepover and is a ball of nerves. He is unsure of what to expect and if he will have fun. Simon has a scare inspection and has never passed.

Between the two, they comedically and sincerely consider each others challenge and help each other out, hoping that Simon passes his inspection and that Chester enjoys his first sleepover.

Super sleepover reads fast and is fully of laughs. Pick it up if you are in the need of one.

Ok so, I have to admit that I am much older than the target audience but I love a good, fun, silly book that features a ghost for a main character. “Scooby-Doo” is still one of my favorite shows and I eagerly await watching “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!”

So with that in mind, I have greatly enjoyed the first two books in the Simon and Chester series (I also cross stitch which is how I learned about the first book) and the newest one didn’t disappoint.

It’s funny, sweet and it ends well. What else can you ask for?

We fell in love with Simon and Chester in Atkinson’s picture book SIR SIMON SUPER SCARER and were thrilled that the characters would grow with us to a slightly more challenging reading level. Fun to read together or very doable for my 6yo to read on his own, it’s hard not to be charmed by the friendship between these two and the illustrations.

Simon and Chester are the Calvin and Hobbes for a new generation. This graphic novel continues the adventures of characters introduced in the SIR SIMON: SUPER SCARER picture book, which is also fabulous.
The art and writing are both stellar. Laugh out loud funny!

This was too cute. The second book in the Simon and Chester series, and it was even better than the first one. Brought me back to my young sleepover days.

This is absolutely adorable and authentically kid-voiced. The illustrations are fun to look at and add so much to this heartwarming friendship story. There are many laugh out loud moments as well as more serious ones in which readers will cheer for Chester to overcome bullying, face his fears of being accepted, and struggle with making new friends. Readers will also love the fierce loyalty between Simon and Chester as both work to help each other achieve their goals.

This comedic graphic novel is the fantastic second installment in the Simon and Chester series! This is not a continuing storyline, and can be read as a standalone. This book is about a boy and his ghost friend who each need to overcome a personal obstacle. Simon the ghost needs to pass his Spook Inspection and Chester needs to learn how to properly behave at a sleepover birthday party. They decide to help “train” each other on proper etiquette….and chaos ensues!

This graphic novel is absolutely perfect for any upper elementary or middle school student...Though I'm an adult and was thoroughly enchanted too. The illustrator was masterful with drawing fantastic facial expressions and adorable characters. I highly recommend this book to anyone!

5 stars. GIFT ALERT-if you have kids that love funny, snarky characters, grab this book now for gifts. This is the cutest series. Done in a graphic/comic style with color and detail. Book two follows ghost Simon and his human friend, Chester as they enter the new adventure of SLEEPOVER. So much fun as they figure out how to have fun and try new things. The ending was awesome. I give books as gifts all the time-this series has been one of the best, ever. Hands down, everyone loves them, the characters are quirky and kids can relate to them. They are easy to read alone but really shine when read aloud. Highly recommend. I was given a copy of the book to review from #LibraryThing, this is my own opinion.

This is the graphic story in the Simon and Chester series. Simon is a ghost who loves eating chips and sitting around watching old TV shows. But can he help prepare Chester for his upcoming sleepover while getting ready for his own haunting inspection which he regularly fails?

Simon and Chester are good friends with an entertaining rapport that is accessible and fun with simple themes.

Sir Simon and Chester Super Sleepover is a fantastic book. My 8yo loves reading it over and over and it is also one of the few books that gets frequently requested to be (re)read by my 4yo.
This book (and the rest of the Simon and Chester series) aren’t just fun for kids, parents and kids can both pick up on fun and clever Easter eggs and other hidden gems in each reading.
Cake Atkinson’s art is engaging and full of energy and the story is a great chapter about two friends helping each other to over come their fears and be there for each other.

My daughter (6) is a huge fan of Simon and Chester, we read the original picture book repeatedly all last year, and when the first graphic novel came out she was so thrilled and reading on her own. We borrowed it numerous times from the library. Super Sleepover! Was no different. I brought it home and she got so excited, “a new Simon and Chester!?!?” And immediately sat down and read it all on her own. I was not allowed to read it with her until she was done. And the , we read it together. A great addition to the series that we enjoyed immensely.

Friendship is a strong theme in this instalment! Simon has to pass a ghost inspection and Chester is going to his first sleepover and they help to train one another to prepare for each happening. Again, I found the layout so dynamic and fun that it really shows off the zany personality that Simon has, versus Chester's much younger and more anxious personality. Y'all need to give this series a chance, it's very underrated!

Simon has to pass his ghost inspection and if he fails, he will banished from Chester's house. Chester has been invited to his first sleepover, but he is not sure about it. Simon agrees to teach Chester about sleepovers, and Chester agrees to train Simon so he will be ready for his inspection. Will Simon pass? Will Chester enjoy the sleepover? Read the story to find out!

7/3/2022 ~ An engaging graphic novel for the younger readers (fewer pages, less text, along the lines of Babymouse and Lunch Lady). I appreciate that one of the protagonists is Black. I look forward to sharing this with the elementary readers in my school library.

Funny - can't wait for kids to show me the ghost cheeks. :)

Another fun addition to the Simon and Chester series. I've read these out of order but I don't find that detracts from my enjoyment. Simon's ghost butt makes me chuckle every time.

And I appreciate that Chester and Simon learn similar lessons in slightly different ways. Or maybe it's that they learn slightly different lessons in a similar way.

At first Simon means well, but he's not a very supportive or helpful friend. Rather, Chester is learning to be a supportive and helpful friend... which one could argue is even more important. But the story & characters develop.... Grandma gets a slightly larger role in this one and it's a good 'un.

It's high pressure time, Simon has an upcoming inspection on his ghosting skills, and Chester has been invited to his first sleepover. They decide to help each other train for their special events. It won't be easy, but with a little support from each other they just might survive the night.
