AC/DC have been swaggering their way through the rock 'n' roll scene for more than 30 years. Starting with their roots in the Australian pub circuit, this book takes a thorough look at where the band came from, where they've been, and where they're going. Bon Scott and the Young brothers' earlier bands are discussed, as well as the trio's first collaboration, supplemented by rare photographs and interviews with more than 50 of the band's friends and colleagues. Previously unpublished details on Bon Scott's untimely death in 1980 and the strange circumstances around it are revealed, along with information on AC/DC's upcoming album, their first in five years.

Paul Stenning
20 books1 followerPaul Stenning is a ghostwriter and author of 30 books. His work has been published in 15 different languages. He is a best-selling author in several countries – from the UK to Brazil and Bulgaria – and has sold over one million books worldwide.
His best-known work is Success – By Those Who’ve Made It (featuring Mario Andretti, Frank Abagnale, DJ Jazzy Jeff and more) as well as best-selling biographies of Robert Pattinson and Guns N' Roses.
In recent years, Stenning has gone beyond celebrity interviewing to writing books focused on service, self-help, and inspiration. He has worked with several of the leading figures in the genre.
Notable recent ghostwriting clients include The World’s Most Travelled Man, Don Parrish, a pioneering physicist and a Philosophy professor.
Since 1997, Paul has also written for numerous major magazines including FHM, Front, Rolling Stone, and Record Collector.
From 2011, until its closure in 2017, he was a regular columnist for the Cyprus Weekly, the top-selling English language newspaper in Cyprus.
Paul has a keen interest in poetry and his first contribution to a book was as a poet, in the 2000 collection Magical Memories, edited by Poetry Now’s Heather Killingray.
Since 2018 he has been the official poet for the tourist board of Guinea-Bissau, combining his love for poetry and travel writing.
Many of his books have been published in foreign languages; from Japanese to Portuguese. Altogether he has works in 15 different languages.
Outside of writing Paul has worked as assistant to the financial advisor for Take That and once worked at a famous comedy club working directly with many high profile comedians including Peter Kay.
Meat Loaf has sung to him in person and he has been kissed by actress Linda Hamilton!
He has also had hundreds of official photographs taken by the Royal Family photographer, Arthur Edwards MBE.
As a rock DJ he has warmed up the crowd prior to concerts by No Doubt, Motörhead and Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Based predominantly in Cyprus, he lives with his wife and home schooled daughter and together they enjoy world travel.

Two Sides To Every Glory is Paul Stenning’s attempt to make “a fitting mark of respect to all that AC/DC have achieved and created.” Inasmuch as this book tells the AC/DC story, Stenning has succeeded. My problem with the book lies in two areas; the writing style and the lack of details.
Two Sides To Every Glory comes off like a very long press release. Stenning is clearly a huge and sincere fan of Australia's best and baddest and isn’t afraid to gush like a schoolgirl. Alan Clayson’s The Yardbirds and Run To The Hills, Mick Wall’s authorized Iron Maiden bio are much the same. I’m a fan of all three of these bands but the last thing I want to read is someone waxing amateur poetic and singing the praises of a band I already like.
Stenning relates the tale of AC/DC in a fairly thorough manner if your idea of thorough is to start where the band started and stop where there was nothing left to tell. It’s great that this book covers AC/DC’s recent career, everything up to the book’s 2005 publication date. AC/DC is a rare example of a successful rock n’ roll band maintaining their success over the course of decades, pretty much on their own terms. AC/DC will likely rock until they’re gone from this world, never bothering to slow down or stop long enough to necessitate a reunion.
However, just when you want to know a lot more, Stenning goes light or moves on. To be fair, he’s covering a long period of time, several decades, in which a lot happened. Still...
Stenning goes into a lengthy and seemingly detailed examination of Bon Scott’s death. However, given the book’s overall tone and the inclusion of a significant amount of apparently unsubstantiated information and circumstantial evidence, I was left a skeptic. I’d like to read a book about Scott’s death by an author with the authority to cover the topic and who does their research.
And who calls them 'DC? It’s one thing to call Iron Maiden 'Maiden but calling AC/DC ‘DC is absurd. Who calls them that?
There is a bizarre and interesting collection of lists including discography, bootlegs, promotional memorabilia, Japanese discography, books on AC/DC, videos and websites. There is also a long list of bands who have covered AC/DC songs. There should be a website dedicated to all the AC/DC covers out there.
Two Sides To Every Glory was obviously a labor of love for Stenning. Not bad but I’m gonna’ find a copy of Highway To Hell: The Life & Times Of Bon Scott by Clinton Walker.

This book is probably the greatest AC/DC biography book to have ever seen the light of print! An amazingly accurate portrayal of the Australian rockers, ranging from their early years to their heyday and international acclaim as well as commercial success they had subsequently received both under the leadership of Bon Scott during the 1970s and, later on, Brian Johnson (from the 1980s onwards). A must read for all AC/DC fans out there! Rock on and all the best! 🙂 🤘
