RV9 tries a little too hard to be cool, sexy, fast and furious and the story and art both suffer along the way. Kind of feels like something from the mid 90s, and not in a good way, alas.

My first introduction into the world of Mad Cave Studios has been a superb one. This has to be one of the best stories I have read recently.

The set up of a child taken from her family to be raised as a ruthless assassin was always going to capture my eye, if the plot didn’t then the cover would. It's a gorgeous cover to a comic that raises questions straight away. Questions like, who is that cloaked person? Why is that person holding strawberries? What city is in the background? Travis Mercer has evoked a curiosity through imagery on that cover and that fed my already developed intrigue from the plot.

I was not disappointed … my intrigue was truly satisfied. Ben Goldsmith has developed a brilliant world of espionage and well...slaughter. I am well and truly on board. In all honesty I was initially a little shocked by the gore involved. But after that, I loved it, it wasn’t gore for the sake of gore, it was perfectly placed and crucially involved in the story and to the characteristics of characters.

Travis Mercer has drawn a truly gorgeous comic. The art really stands out and the detailing is fantastic. Each character displayed their personalities expertly through Mercers work and that complimented the excellent storytelling brilliantly.

I am so happy that I chose this story for my first dive into Mad Cave Studios. A brilliantly presented espionage thriller with what promises to be a bright future. I’m excited to continue my RV9 journey.

I didn't know what was going on in this comic. It's about a group of assassins that's trying to cause some kind of revolution in Italy because they say "Por La Revolution" at least 15 times without explaining what is revolving. Then there's Velveteen and her handler who used to be part of the same group but is now trying to kill those in the group. It's terribly written. The art reminded me of Brett Booth or some other Wildstorm artist in the 90's.
