Sometimes, the truth can be a real killer . . . When Lily Mason and her human boyfriend Parker Knowles help a friend rescue two abused pitties, they're determined to find out who abandoned the dogs in a deserted house. But the decrepit home has other secrets, too, such as the dead body in the basement. For once, Lily hasn't stumbled upon a corpse, but Parker's buddy has--and he's arrested for murder. With the help of their friends, human and non-human alike, Lily and Parker are determined to find out what really happened. Even if it means putting their own lives in danger.
About Renee: USA Today Bestselling author Renee George writes paranormal mysteries and romances because she loves all things whodunit, Otherworldly, and weird. Also, she wishes her pittie, the adorable Kona Princess Warrior, and her beagle, Josie the Incontinent Princess, could talk. Or at least be more like Scooby-Doo and help her unmask villains at the haunted house up the street.
When she’s not writing about mystery-solving werecougars or the adventures of a hapless psychic living among shapeshifters, she is preyed upon by stray kittens who end up living in her house because she can't say no to those sweet, furry faces. (Someone stop telling them where she lives!)
She resides in Mid-Missouri with her family and spends her non-writing time doing really cool stuff...like watching TV and cleaning up dog poop.
Author Note: For readers who have enjoyed reading my books and taken the time to share their love in reviews, thank you so much! I can't tell you how much it means to me to know my work is valued.
Another solid addition to the series. I love how these books are able to incorporate not only all the mystery and sleuthing, but that also so much character building when it comes to Lily and her family and loved ones. I feel like it such a well rounded series and each book feels full of action. Smooshie was adorable as always.
Pittie Rescue finds two pits tied up in a run-down home that is going on sale. They are underfed but still fairly people friendly. Who did it and are they in trouble? This group isn't going to stand by and let that happen.
Great, a crime but no murder. Whewww. Oops! Too early with the relief. There is a murder to come. Parker and his friend who also suffers from PTSD are suspects. Lily can't let that happen. Once again she's going on investigation mode. Who really did it?
Another story with all the good stuff this series always provides. Family and there are some surprises on the way. Friends who help with the investigation. Danger as always the bad guys are coming after the good ones and danger is a-foot. Dogs, great information for dog owners, as well as fun with the animals, and this time it is double to fun with four of them. A mystery to be solved. Will you guess who done it? Overall another good read from the series and author. ENJOY. I DID.
"Two Pits and a Little Murder" by Renee George is book six in the "Barkside of the Moon" series. I enjoy seeing what Lily and Smooshie get into, along with Parker and Elvis. This book finds Lily and Parker in one heck of a mess while they go to help a friend of Parker's. I absolutely adore their relationship and the characters in this series. My favorite part in this book is when Lily, Nadine, and Reggie are at the cafe, and the waiter brings the food out. When he was calling out the orders, and then girls were claiming their food, I was chuckling.
A new book featuring Lily, Parker, and Smooshie? Yes, please!!! When Lily and Parker go to rescue a couple of endangered pitbull pups, they have no idea exactly what they're getting into...or what they'll find. Danger, adventure, suspense, and puppy kisses await in this excellent cozy mystery book (and series). Highly recommend.
I received a copy of this book from the author via Bookfunnel. My thoughts and opinions are my own and without bias or favor.
Lily, Smooshie and the gang are back in another thoroughly entertaining adventure. This story had me at times angry, emotional, laughing out loud and sighing with delight. I love this series and was totally enchanted with this installment. I heartily recommend this series to anyone with a beating heart.
Two Pits and a Little Murder Barkside of the Moon #6 Author: Renee George Published 30th Dec 2020 Publisher: Barkside of the Moon Press
“When cougar-shifter Lily Mason moves to Moonrise, Missouri, she wishes for only three things from the town and it’s human population: 1) to find a job, 2) to find a place to live, and 3) to live as a human, not a therianthrope.” It’s been a while since she moved there, but she gets more than she bargains for when she is rescued by a gorgeous, wily pit-bull, Smooshie. As well as finding love with rescue owner Parker, she reconnects with her uncle Daniel - aka Buzz - the only relative she has left alive. We’re on book six now, and whilst she’s madly in love with human Parker, helping him with the Pit rescue business, she’s formed a loving relationship with her uncle Buzz and his girlfriend Nadine, now her BFF and Reggie, the local medical examiner. In this book, two maltreated pits - Lily names them Edward and Elinor after Pride and Prejudice - are found by Parker’s friend Darren, then rescued by Lily and Parker, but poor little Elinor is in bad shape and Lily needs to find out why. As well as the ongoing family and friend drama, there’s a murder to investigate and the pits need rehoming. Now, pit-bulls have an unwarranted reputation and get bad press. They can be adorable, loving and loyal, just like Smooshie. There’s a whole bunch of ‘em in the series and each doggie, massive or diminutive, has its own sparkling personality. It’s clear Renee loves animals, a message central to these books, and it enables her to create unique characters with each doggie she introduces. There’s plenty of romance with the hoomans, lots of humour - especially poop related jokes - and the mystery at the the heart of the book is resolved neatly. It’s also great the way George weaves in issues with PTSD through Parker and Darren and the role of support animals. These cozy paranormal crimes are vibrant, heart-warming and immense fun.
Lily Mason is a werecougar shifter. She and her human boyfriend, Parker, have a pit bull rescue center and are contacted by Darren Larson to rescue two pit bulls from an abandoned house. Parker and Darren had been part of the program that matched trained rescue dogs with veterans suffering from PTSD. When they went inside, the two dogs were chained in the basement and one of them had been injured. Also Ryan later said an infected sore on the female could have been exposure to chemicals from cooking methamphetamine. They may be dealing with something more dangerous than they first realized!
Darren sets up cameras to catch the abusers if they come back to the house again. When Lily and her friend, Deputy Sheriff Nadine Booth, went back to the abandoned house to check for drug chemicals that could have harmed the female pit bull, Darren’s truck was already parked there. She went inside and called Darren’s name. She found a rag with some chemical and bagged it for Ryan. When Nadine, still outside, honked the horn, Lily and Darren found some men giving her a hard time. She finally got them to go away and implied they could be arrested.
When Darren finally gets something on his cameras, Parker and Lily agree to meet him at the abandoned house, but he has blood all over him when he comes up from the basement! The dead body down there is his brother-in-law Rowdy who had been thinking of buying flipping the house. This definitely doesn’t look at all good for Darren. When Darren is arrested for the murder, Parker and Lily immediately begin the investigation to clear him and find out what really happened. Will they find the answer of what’s going on and why Rowdy was killed? Suspense, danger, and dogs make this a mystery you won’t want to miss!
Book 6 in the Barkside of the Moon series does not disappoint! In fact, once you begin you are grabbed and can't put it down. Lily Mason, a shifter, and her human boyfriend Parker have a pit bull rescue center. They are called by an old friend of Parker's, Darren to a run-down abandoned house where he got a heads up that there were two pit bulls tied up in the basement. Of course they would go to get the dogs! Darren who was so angry that someone would do that to animals decided to go back and set up cameras around the property to catch the criminal dog abusers! When he gets a bite on one of the cameras, Darren calls Parker and said he was on his way back to the house. Parker and Lily said they would meet him there. When Darren comes up from the basement of the house he is covered in blood and his criminal brother-in-law is dead in the basement. Of course Darren is arrested, but he swears he didn't do it even though the evidence is incriminating. So of course, Parker and Lily have to investigate to prove his innocence. We also have a few side themes with a pregnant on leave as from the police station, Nadine wants to be involved even though Lily tries to keep her out of it because of Nadine's pregnancy and Lily's uncle Buxx, also a shifter and Nadine's love want to keep her safe. With a lot of twists and turns and some missing evidence and secret liasons you are led on a fast paced read where you are surprised by the ending! Can't wait to see what happens next! I received and ARC from the author but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.
Lily and Parker are pretty happy with their jobs and their lives together as partners. But then Parker gets a call from his friend about 2 dogs at an abandoned house, it is something that they do all the time it is different because the dogs are chained up and Lily is not about to leave them unattended and one thing leads to another when the same friend that called Parker the last time has not been heard from and his wife calls and wants them to find out what might have happened to him when they find him they find way more than they bargained for. Things are so not what they seem in this story the past is brought out, and the storyline is very good, the characters are still very fascinating as before. Suspense, drama, and dogs make it fun. I was given an ARC via BookFunnel without obligation. I volunteered an honest review.
Nice story, I wish the cousin would have made amends in person vs. trying to kill herself. Guilt can make you do a lot of things. How horrible would it have been to see your cousin on a date with one of the guys who rapped you.
The cousin felt guilt over what happened then after finding out the guilt must have ate at her. Hope she can get out of the mess with no jail time. She even confessed to try and save her cousin, even after everything that happened.
Also, did the couple stay together after she got kicked out of police force.
I looooove this series... am a lil partial to pitties. I have one of my own and she can act just like Smooshie sometimes! Lilly and Parker are back rescuing dogs, taking life one day at a time and stumbling into a murder again. I really enjoy how Ms. George works in the rescue, PTSD, and depression into her stories makes ya think of things you might miss otherwise. This story is fun and am so glad this time it was an awesome HEA!!!! Looking forward to the next one... maybe Nadine will have them babies???? I received this book as an ARC in exchange for my review.... hope you enjoy!!!
Lilly was not without alarming and dangerous situations around her. This time it’s friends who were in trouble and in need of help. Dogs, as always, were adorable and an integral part of the plot with a situation that moved me. A good mystery with a lot of suspense and interesting situations that kept me reading avidly to find out who the culprit was. I like that the author keeps me intrigued until the end.
This new installment in the world of Lily, Parker, Smooshie and the gang is another wonderful read! It’s really nice to read about what’s going on in the lives of the characters. Of course Lily attracts trouble and murder a like honey attracts bees. Renee writes the best whodunnits! Kept me guessing to the end as there were more than one suspect. The ending was unexpected but I loved it! Hope to see more of Lily, Parker and the others soon!
This one puts a arrow through the heart right away with Lily and Parker rescue two pitties that were abused. It seems to be what is going around lately also for real ugh. Run down house also holds other uglies with the creep factor on high for this house. Parker's friend needs their help since he is the one that found that body. Everybody is out to find out the answers with this giving us a good one to chew on. Lily is a character I put down whatever I am doing to see her shenanigans.
This book had me at Smooshie, I’m not going to lie. But then it had to throw in a little of Elinor and Edward and I was a goner!I really enjoyed the mystery. It kept the story at a great pace. Even more enjoyable was all of the family made from the group of friends. Friends that knew each other and their secrets for good and bad. Plus Puppies! I don’t care how old the pitties are, they are still puppies.
Lily and Parker help a friend rescue two pit bulls from a basement of a house that is abandoned. Who know what this good deed would bring! Their friend is determined to find out who had left the dogs and this leads to a dead body being found. A good bit of the evidence points to their friend but things don’t quite add up. Lily does some digging and turns up some interesting history. Absolutely love the ending and am looking forward to the next book!
Another great story to add to this series. The characters are so wonderful, funny, and feel like old friends. The murder mystery was tragic. So many innocent people were impacted by the murdered person's life and death. At least there is a fantastic ending to warm the heart! Loved reading every page!
This series is about love, friendship, murder and a couple of werecougars. I pre-ordered this book and couldn't wait for it to come into my library. Once it did, I put aside the book I was reading so I could jump right in to reading this book. It didn't disappoint. I enjoyed it from start to finish.
Even though someone gets killed, this was a fun book to read (listen to). Lily and Parker make me smile, while Smoochie and Elvis make me laugh and yearn for a fur baby of my own.
The narrator did a wonderful job of breathing life into the various characters. This is one of my favorite series. It's a go-to when I need a pick-me-up.
What a great series!!! It was great seeing the gang back together and with new addition. Add in all the intrigue, suspense, and action and you have a helluva read. Overall a great read. As always my review are totally voluntarily and no monetary compensation was received and the opinions I have expressed are my own.
Lily and her boyfriend help their friend rescue some pit bulls from a deserted house. They end up getting more they bargained for as they try to find who abandon them and why there is a dead body in the house.
Smooch will once again steal the show as he will get in the middle of things like always. A delightful addition in the series.
I absolutely love this series. And as always this book was perfect. Plenty of pups, intrigue, love misery and shocking events to make this book just the best!
Another cute book. Really had me stumped on who it was. I love how the author never reveals the last name of the killer and than in cooperates it into the cover. Very smart!! Onto the next great read. Happy Reading:)
Once more Renee George gives us a great mystery. All of the "family" is there and what an awesome HEA ending!!! I can never get enough of these awesome characters. I want to be their BFF! ❤❤❤
Wow, Lily and crew have an uphill battle in this one. A murder to solve a overzealous cop to deal with and Nadine and Buzz have a secret. Can Lilly help her family and solve this murder? Will everyone survive with their lives and hearts?
