The Kings of Men MC #7

King's Virtuous Son

Rate this book
The “Innocent” Twin
Hunter Tanner is a prospect for the Kings of Men MC. The club president, King, shocked Hunter with the news that he is Hunter’s biological father. King was the only man who had ever kept Hunter safe, and he’d taken King’s attention the wrong way—only to be devastated to learn they were related. Now he’s pissed off. Hunter’s identical twin, Forrest, offers him a chance to get away from New Gothenburg, so Hunter takes a vacation to stay at the Exotic Virtue in New York City.

The Irish Mobster
Jamie Shannon is a simple Irishman. He enjoys working, and sometimes killing, for the Killough Company, and he believes in going after anything—or anyone—he wants. Jamie has long had his eye on a particular blond man who works at the Exotic Virtue, and an opportunity presents itself when he sees him looking down in the dumps next to the pool. Jamie doesn’t hesitate to swoop in and try to kiss him better.

Two Blood-Spattered Worlds, One Heart
An explosive night with Jamie leads to a fight that sends Hunter racing back to New Gothenburg. Jamie doesn’t hesitate to follow his man. To get Hunter back, he’ll have to navigate not only King’s temper when he shows up unannounced to talk to his upset son, but both Hunter and Jamie still have dangerous obligations. Is there any way they can truly be together, or were they doomed to only one hot night from the start?

I'm not exactly sure what I was expecting from a romance between an Irish mobster and a prospect for a motorcycle club (who also happens to be the newly discovered son of that MC's president), but I somehow managed to be pleasantly surprised with what we got here.

Hunter was a shy, quiet, insecure guy with a surprising wicked streak and some minor anger issues to boot. He was a complicated person, and appeared to be angry at the world and everyone in it, yet never felt the need to truly speak up about what he was feeling or thinking. He was obviously quite lonely, and didn't feel like he belonged anywhere.
I found him interesting, but he could also be slightly annoying. Overall I liked him, though. He was delicate, in an odd sort of way.

Jamie doesn't have much of a personality other than being an easy-going, happy-go-lucky Irish man. I didn't mind this, though, as most of his character seemed to be dedicated to adoring Hunter, which, of course, I loved.
Jamie was immediately enamoured with Hunter from the start and spend the rest of the book desperately trying to keep hold of him. Jamie worshipped the ground Hunter walked on, and that's something I'll always love in a romance.

"I've been thinking of going home, even though I'd miss you."
Fear sank its claws into me and I wrapped my arms around him. "Don't. I know you're not happy right now. I've seen it. But I don't want ya to leave. I'd do anything to keep ya here."
He stilled. "Anything?"
"Anything."

I really liked the dynamic between these two. They had quite a lot of chemistry!
I only wish there had been a little bit more time spend on actually establishing a connection between them, especially after the half-way point. After all, the connection was actually looking really good at the beginning, but at some point the 'connection building' seemed to be abandoned, and we were just supposed to accept that they connected enough and were now deeply in love. The development within their relationship definitely wasn't the best it could have been.

Aside from the romance, this book also spends quite a lot of time on Hunter getting to know his twin brother for the first time, and also on him reconciling the fact that King is his father. He felt betrayal, but also hope, and I was invested in seeing how he navigated his new family situation.

This book definitely has quite a bit of drama and angst, and I really enjoyed it. Whether it was family drama or relationship drama, I ate all of it up.

When it comes to the writing, I wouldn't say it was the best. A lot of scenes felt very dragged out and overly detailed. While at other times my problem was with the sentence structure of certain things, as I struggled more than once with understanding what was even being said or what exactly was happening.

Anyway, overall I really liked the relationship dynamic and general plot of this book. Could it have been better? Sure. But I enjoyed it quite a lot, so that's good enough in my book.

Hello, everyone, and welcome back to New Gothenburg!

2020 has been a crazy year for me personally (like it has been for most people). King's Virtuous Son is book number 12 for me this year, writing and production wise. It has been a wild ride. I loved writing Jamie and Hunter so much that I've been doing it since July and now, in December, I'm finally finished. Hunter has been in the back of my mind since we introduced him in King's Killer and this poor guy has been through a lot. I thought he finally deserved to find something for himself. His story takes him from New Gothenburg to New York City and back again.

Writing Jamie was a challenge because I'm not Irish! So, the wonderful Jo McCorkell read the book for me and gave me a lot pointers about the way Irish people speak and think. She was wonderful to work with. She helped me put the icing on the language of Jamie Shannon, Corbin, and Tadgh Quinn.

Again, thanks so much for reading. I really appreciate it and it helps me continue writing books. Happy New Year!

Loved Jamie and Hunter's interactions but got a bit tired of the repetitiveness of Hunter's thoughts.

Still loved the story and the progression it brought to the series as a whole. It was also good to touch base with the Killough Company characters.

Enjoyed

Continuing biker adventures

I am reading these books again and just remembering what I enjoyed about them. The characters are all so believable in a rather unbelievable genre and the story lines are interesting, both the individual relationships and the overall story that drives the whole series. This is a terrific book in a terrific series. Highly recommend

I'm so invested in this series and the characters, that I was afraid the authors wouldn't do Hunter the way I see him. I should have known better. They met my expectations and then some. I loved Jamie's tentative. vulnerable side with Hunter. He would have stood on his head if Hunter asked him. Tough guy brought down by love. *sighs * And Hunter was everything! Sweet, shy, feisty, and a total package. I had to force myself to slow down and savor the book, because I didn't want it to end. I admired Jamie's patience with Hunter and Hunter's unwavering complete trust in Jamie. Beautiful! I laughed so hard when Jamie asked Corbin advice about Hunter and Corbin said, " Is this really my life?" I could just picture it. I'm dead!! I love when these two tough guys act like old ladies at times. So endearing. It was strange to see King act like a dad with Hunter and Jamie's relationship. King as the overprotective parent had me in stitches. Brilliant epilogue. Melting!! I look forward to the next book.

Meh

This one fell flat for me. Hunter started off in this series as a awkward young adult struggling to "fit in" and function as a grown man who can express himself and unfortunately he stayed that way for quite sometime in his own book which made it hard to stomach the sexy times and not roll my eyes at his so call "bad-ass" moments.

Jamie's character was okay didn't really feel much connection with him though. Don't know why.

I do sometimes get the sense in this book and others by this author that you can clearly see she struggles with keeping things m/m and not m/f. She always has at least one of her male character's giving off strong female vibes. You would be hard pressed not to just swap out a "Him/He" for a "She/Her".

Lots of hot men, motorbikes and an Irish lilt.

The Kings, a motorcycle club run by Aaron (King) Arthur and his fellow men and his two children who did not know they were Kings kids.

Hunter Tanner, one of Kings sons and a prospect to the Kings. Hunters twin is in New York and asks him to come to visit.

The Irish Mobster Jamie, Jamie has fancied Hunters twin Forrest for a long time, but he knows he's spoken for until the day he flirts back and then kisses him. Or was it Forrest...

This book is an excellent follow-on from the last book. It has bikers, fights, grown-up children, prostitutes, bombs, and lots of hot sex; what's not to like.

Seriously good audio/book, and the narration was spot on, especially the Irish lilt. Jack Noble did an incredible job, did speed up to 1.30 on audible.

**Audible review**

Hunter has finally found his forever home. Loved this to pieces. Loved Jamie, Forrest, Corbin and the entire Kings family. This had some violent parts but it made it all realer. Hunter had no problems getting the job done when it came to his family. The intimacy between Jamie and Hunter was intense and HOT. Jamie was so caring for Hunter. I really felt the love he had for him. Corbin and Jamie's friendship was the entertainment that kept me laughing. Their banter was epic. To say I enjoyed this is understatement. The pacing was just right and flowed well. The narration done by Jack Noble was the best. That accent...hmmm....loved it! I was so glad I had a chance to listen to this and give it my review. Hopefully more people would give it a listen and love it as I did. 5 STARS!

King’s quiet son

The book is dedicated to Hunter who was quiet, reserved, shy from books before. I was curious about what kind of characteristics he truly is. The author did not disappoint me. In fact, Hunter is much more than he appeared to be. He truly shines in many ways in this book. Jaime is another character who was briefly presented in the Boss book. He complimented well with Hunter and is what Hunter needed in his life. Jaime will give Hunter what he is caving for that he didn’t have as a kid. The book is packed with actions that fast paced with other interesting secondary characters of dynamics. There are more stories behind and can be expanded. Can’t wait to read more.

Another One Done

I'm sad I have to wait for another King's book but the journey so far has been awesome. This book with Hunter and Jaime started out stilted for me at first maybe because I had to keep starting and starting it due to every day life like working but eventually I was able to have time to read steadily and then the book just flowed perfectly. I loved the Irish accent of Jamie's and could hear it in my head clearly. Hunter was a bit of an enigma, not at all like his twin Forrest. I was quite surprised at his actions at the warehouse. I will continue to highly recommend this series and love when there is an epilogue to wrap it all up.

I’m reviewing the audio version. I enjoyed the twin part to the story I just wish there had been more interaction between them. Hunter, is more of an introvert than his brother Forrest and it comes out when they are together. While visiting Forrest, Hunter meets Jamie. Here is where so much of this story is fun. Jamie is so hooked on Hunter that he chases after him and will do almost anything for him. Hunter is completely attracted to Jamie and it comes out in his tendency toward jealousy. I really enjoyed King’s interaction with both of these guys. I also think Jack Noble did a great job narrating. I really enjoyed his Jamie.

audio review

King's Virtuous Son is book 7 in The Kings of Men MC series. I absolutely love this series and this book did not disappoint. It was wonderful to see more of Hunter. I love the mistaken identity as Hunter gets mistaken for his brother. It was nice to see King get all protective as a father, not just as the MC president. Honestly I think Hunter and Jamie work well together. Jamie can be a bit terrifying in his own right working for the Killough Company. This series is a favorite and I definitely recommend it.
Narrator Jack Noble does an amazing job. He's such a delight to listen to.

I loved this book. Hunter feels he can't do anything right. He is a prospect for the Kings of Men MC. He is shocked when King the president tells him he is his father and that he has a twin named Forrest. Forrest gives him the chance to get away and stay at the Exotic Virtue in New York City. Hunter never expects to meet a man named Jamie Shannon there. Jamie works for the Killough Company and he wants a man who works at the Exotic Virtue. At first Jamie believes Hunter is Forrest. One night Jamie is hurt and Hunter plans revenge. When Jamie and Hunter argue about it Hunter goes home. Can Jamie make things right with Hunter while navigating dangerous business?

Loved this book. Hunter and Jamie are perfect. Hunter isn’t used to people caring or sticking around for him or even caring about him. But even though he’s not used to it he cares about people a lot. He barely knew Tinker and cried because he was a brother/a king and barely knew Jamie and went to hurt those guys that hurt Jamie. Jamie is hilarious. There was a couple of times where I busted out laughing. Also quite a few times I had tears falling. Jamie is good to Hunter and he deserves it. Love them so much. Highly recommend!!!!

Solid 4

This is book 7 in the Kings of Men series. It centers around King's son Hunter and a mob affiliate named Jamie Shannon.
It was great to see Hunter finally get a book. We've seen bits and pieces of him and his personality emergein the other stories, it was cool to see him get his own.
The book overall continued with good writing and good story telling. The connective plot for all the books is not expanded on too much but it is still a page turner with its own individual plots.
Looking forward to the next one as well.

Another great addition to the series. Can't wait to read more and more!

Hunter and Forrest are twins but very different, Hunter is more discret and not so confident even for a biker.
Feeling betrayed by King, he goes to live with his brother for a while. There he meets Jamie... Things are not easy...

I've wanted to read about Jamie for a while and I'm not disappointed!
They're perfect for each other and I hope we'll see them again soon.

Best one yet!

To short. I love hunter and have since he we 1st introduced but Jamie was so perfect for him.

This series is next level fun and yes all the books are quick reads with sexy, possessive men but damn do they make ♥️🌶 so good.

MUST RECOMMEND: look up Ki Brightly reading order. There are more than 5 series and 50 books tangled together and while they are all stand alones, you will appreciate the reading order. Build the characters deeper.

I love the Kings of Men stories and I really enjoyed this story. I admit I had reservations about Jamie at first since he thought he was going to have sex with Forrest and then was happy to have sex with Hunter instead but he really showed he loved Hunter and Hunter was a delight. So feisty and insecure and yet so loving. Enjoy the Killough characters as well.

Liked finally getting Hunter’s story. I feel like I wish there had been more possessiveness, protecting, angst from Jamie. I think that could’ve come out more. Also wish the Hunter/king stuff was more detailed in dialogue between them. Overall great enjoyed it.

Great ending to a fantastic series. I still feel like in these series there so so many good openings to explore but the author never does. However it’s still a great read.
I’m totally intrigued by the company story now.

This is definitely one of my favorite books in the series. I absolutely love Jamie and how sweet and patient he is with Hunter. I also loved that while there is violence, this book doesn’t have any kink or public displays. Great book!

Read in order with both the King bikers and the Irish mob.
OMG! I loved the development of Hunter's character. Wow! I never expected it. Jamie was wonderful. I want to hear his voice. Is there an Audible book? I loved everything about this story.

This couple just didn't grab me. Nor did the idea that someone has an Olympic size indoor swimming pool in their home? For what purpose would anyone have or need this unless they are also housing an Olympic swim team?
