Buried Curses

Rate this book
It took PI Jack Mahler eleven years to claw out of the hole Sergeant Anderson left him in. All the unbelievable horrors he has experienced can be traced to Anderson getting him kicked out of the army. Jack thought he had buried the scandal and is finally rebuilding his life when Anderson comes calling on his “old buddy” again. The FBI is accusing Anderson of smuggling stolen Iraqi artifacts into the U.S., and he wants to hire Jack to prove his innocence. Jack is almost certain Anderson is guilty, but, just like old times, Anderson talks him into going against his better judgment. Jack links the stolen antiquities to a murdered scholar and stumbles upon a mystery as old as civilization. Now, only Jack stands between humanity and a forgotten god.

PI Jack Mahler has to clear his former Army buddy from a past scandal regarding potential stolen artifacts. The problem is that his Army Buddy had Jack removed from the Army of which Jack has been struggling over the past 11 years. Against his better judgement, he assists him to resolve the scandal. Only to find that maybe there is supernatural forces at large.

It's an easy read. And a good Story.
This is the second book with PI Jack Mahler. Although reading the First book would be helpful to understand the character of PI Jack Mahler, it isn't necessary

For me - the subtle humor is worth the read.
And the epilogue is a bonus.

This second book featuring PI Jack Mahler is as gripping as the first. It is a short book detailing a seemingly-mundane mystery, which quickly becomes a creepy, supernatural fight for Jack to stay alive. Stay sane. Is what he sees real? Nobody else can see these things. It is also a study in human frailty and greed. There is nothing small about this story! A very good read!
