Tied to a Boss

Rate this book
"The Game ..." makes for strange bedfellows. Local gangster Dante (Jack Boy) knows more than anybody how dangerous and ruthless the streets can be. But against his better instincts, allows himself to fall for a local female gangster named Alinna, considered to be somewhat of a competitor to Dante because she leads her own all female crew. Alinna too, is very well aware of the dangers that come with letting feelings get in the way of business. But like Dante, she decides to embrace the attraction anyway. That however proves to be a mistake when she discovers Dante is two-timing her with a female gang unit officer. But unlike what she has with Dante, this relationship is more about lust and power. Or better yet the officer's lust for it. While both get pleasure from this arrangement, she also gains intel, which leads to major busts that fuel her quick ascension within the department. However her world is suddenly rocked when she discovers she's pregnant with Dante's child! Now they have something that binds them together forever ... and something that complicates not just her job but also Dante's relationship with Alina! But Alina is onto Dante's cheating ways, and the officer is willing to eliminate any and all threats to her burgeoning career. Could he end up losing everything in the end?

The only reason I listened to this was because Wesleigh narrated, it was free on audible and work has me too busy to read 😩. I’ll most likely stop here because she doesn’t narrate the other books and based off reviews for the rest of the series the editing is terrible.

The synopsis literally gives the entire story so there’s nothing else I need to say in this review. It was a decent enough story but not anything to write home about! 🤷🏽‍♀️

I'm going stop here. The blurb had my attention. The writing didn't follow the usual plot beats. Street life is more outrageous than I thought. I don't need to know more!

Plot: 📖
Originality: 📝
Narration:🎙️🎙️🎙️🎙️
Spice:🌶️
Action:👊🏽👊🏽👊🏽
Troupe: Urban fiction , definitely not romance
Triggers: cheating

Definitely written by a man. This sounds like every hood dude fantasy. A boss , having hood twins, coming and going as he pleases, BM drama and cheating. No emotional intelligence or relationship building. It’s insta love/insta lust. Multiple women, lying to both and sleeping with both. Which is honestly where i stopped caring. Everything happens quickly with little to no character development. No real plot, just a dude working his way to be a drug lord. If Dante was a rapper it would be an episode of love and hip hop.

Boss

Great read from beginning to end. Alina and her girls are nothing to play with while Dante and his boys aren't either. A lot of deceit and not knowing who to trust. Angela a crooked cop who will go beyond for Dante . Will it come to a end soon or will Alinna find another lover. Can't wait until part 2

First book by this author. My girl Wesleigh narrated so that made a big difference for me. Fast
Paced. I had to pay attention to get the characters down and at times still couldn’t keep up with who was who

I’m so made at Dante. Men are sleeze bags! Lol! My girl opened her heart. She’s a bad one. I was entertained. I HATE CLIFFHANGERS though so took a point off for that.

Ooo this book was amazeballs. All this wonderful drama I can't believe that this Dante is not wearing a condom with this crazy chick. I hope Alinna ready to handle her business.

This was a pretty good read. There are 4 more books in the series. At the very least, this book made me want to read the 2nd.

I’m concerned about Angela and Westley. I think Westley is either undercover or he’s working for some other organization to take Alana’s territory. Donte is muscle for real. Alana is the plug. I just don’t like how he kinda came from out of nowhere and ingratiated himself into their crew.

Angela is definitely gonna be a problem. She’s captain now. But when she was a sergeant she pretty much blackmailed Donte into ducking her. Now she and Alana got a baby from his ass and Angela faking like she’s cool with being the side piece. She ain’t. She’s gonna make him leave Alana to be with her because she has the power to take their whole shit down. Especially with Alana and Donte having murdered two cops. I hate her. She scandalous.

And now Alana just watched Donte walk up in Angela’s house and greet him with a kiss like that’s HER man.

Tied To A Boss

This book was so good, I had to read until the end. The synopsis was well written. I also loved that the author talked about my hometown of Miami. Those men were hard core gangsters, and those women were a handful by themselves. Dante is one cold and calculated individual. He always plans instead of jumping in head first. He wasn't too focused because he got caught slipping. They always say beware of your surroundings. I'm ready for part 2 to see what Angela's motives are concerning Dante and Alinna.

An enjoyable story.

This story was kind of choppy in certain parts. The plot is there however it needs to be developed a little bit more to really get the reader going. The characters were easy to follow and either you were down with them or against them. Some plots of the story were questionable and made you scrunch up your face at some of the things that was happening. I don't recall any grammar errors that stand out or hurt the story. I'm not sure if I will read part 2 and if I do it will be out of pure curiosity.

I was a little torn in the beginning of the story. I didn't think that I was going to enjoy this story, but I was wrong. The writing style was a little different from what I have become accustomed to be some authors, but everyone is different. There were some errors, but it didn't take away from the storyline itself. That Dante and Alinna grab a hold of me and drew me into the story and I had to see where their characters were headed. All and all good job.

Family

This tale is mediocre at best - but - does tell a story of family style ties to a boss or two. The street vocabulary and criminal culture is stunning for my senses and alien to me. I cannot understand this raw writing but respect there are good and bad people who do. As Adrian Monk says, "It's a jungle out there." I recommend for education and efforts to understand differences in our tough world. Mature 18+ only

In the beginning I saw potential but then I saw it go all over the place. The editing was awful and at times the story made no sense jumping from scenes right in the middle of something else. Four parts?? No thanks!!

Ok read, but could have been better

Plot was good, interesting characters. However, lots of word and punctuation errors. Sweat peas, should be sweet peas, ear lopes s\b lobes. Run on sentences, words not pluraled correctly. Looks sloppy.

Not a bad read but the vast amount of editing issues made it a real turn off. The plot was a good one and not necessarily predictable or cliche. I'm not going on to read the others in the series myself because I'm guessing the other books are just as unedited and predictable

Don't like this kind of story. Not use to drug dealers and straight up killers. Strange triangle love with children is twisted.

Ok

**Audiobook Review**
The story was ok. It seems like a lot was going on. The story was all over the place. Maybe it will get better in later books when it all comes together.

I at first supported this TTAB book because I liked the story and Loved the character Alinna. But, somehow the book turned into something that I didn't like when Dante began sexing a female cop even after he began a relationship with Alinna.
First off, no female sergeant would hunt down a guy who robs drug dealers to help her secure a promotion at her job for captain. That ranking requires more than that at a police station, among other things.
I wasn't surprised that both Alinna & Angela had gotten pregnant giving this dude Dante NEVER SEEMS to WEAR PROTECTION IN ANY OF THE BOOKS IN THE SERIES!
Dante cheated on Alinna with Angela and, just like a hood dude, tried to make Alinna believe that it was for THEIR Benefit. WTF?!
When Alinna followed Dante to Angela's crib in the middle of the night and watched as Dante ALLOWED Angela to kiss him before he entered her house and stayed ALL NIGHT, I FELT THAT ALINNA SHOULD HAVE PACKED UP DANTE'S STUFF SET IT OUTSIDE OF HER HOUSE, AND KEPT IT MOVING!
Ultimately, I wanted ALINNA TO RETURN TO THE STRONG MINDED WOMAN THAT SHE WAS FIRST WRITTEN AS IN THE BEGINNING OF THE BOOK, LEAVE DANTE, AND HER SO-CALLED FRIENDS TOO WHO SEEMINGLY PROTECTED DANTE MORE THAN THEY HAD ALINNA, EVEN THOUGH THEY'D NEVER EXPECT TO DEAL WITH THE SAME THING WITH THEIR DUDES THAT DANTE IS EXPECTING ALINNA TO PUT UP WITH!
IT ONLY HAD GOTTEN MORE INSANE IN THE NEXT FOUR BOOKS, WHICH MADE MY INITIAL LIKE OF THE TTAB SERIES DISSIPATE SUBSTANTIALLY! YOU CAN SOOOOOOOOOO TELL THAT THIS SERIES WAS WRITTEN BY SOMEONE WHO CLEARLY DO NOT KNOW OR UNDERSTAND WOMEN!

Have you ever read a book that was good and bad at the same time? That’s exactly how I felt about this series. It was completely unrealistic, yet I couldn’t stop reading. I went from the first book straight through to the fifth, and even though the ending was terrible, I still enjoyed the whole ride.

The story kept me in suspense and constantly wondering what would happen next — which I loved — but I hated being left hanging at the end. And as someone from the United States, some of the cultural parts threw me off. For example, the idea that a American man can marry basically as many women as he can take care of As long as they were in different countries felt so unfair, especially since the wives couldn’t have multiple husbands. (I later learned that in Islam the actual limit is four wives, but still — it felt lopsided in the story.)

Overall though, despite all the things that frustrated me, it was a really entertaining

J.L. Rose presented an interesting beginning and overall tale...however, we could have summed up all of the books with an add on to the first one. The context was interesting enough but started to lag with Alaina falling for Dante's foolishness and his blindness to his baby mama officer. Too many pieces of the puzzle not adding up...I stayed connected to see how it was going to end --cliffhanger, surprise.
