Dawns Delayed

Rate this book
Very little ever happened in Winflied, which is one reason why Ardis Levering at 23 fond herself engaged to marry good-natured Tom Farrand whom she had known since childhood, and who at 36 is generally considered to be one of the town's most substantial citizens. Because marriage to Tom would mean independence for her aging mother and the fulfillment of her father's dying wish, Ardis had never considered any other course. Except for the fact that Tom was exasperatingly slow about naming the day, Ardis was reasonably content with her lot.

She was, that is, until Gregory Barr, itinerant and destitute newspaper an, was almost literally cast-up at her feet, more dead than alive, by a storm at sea. Ardis was torn between what she conceived to be her duty and her ever-increasing absorption in Gregory, who desperately needed someone to look after him during his convalescence. Tom, now becoming insistent about marrying soon, could be put off only so long.
