When Griffin Gago admitted to Charlie Hess that he still hadn’t learned to drive at the age of seventeen, Charlie didn’t laugh or tease him. He only placed his hand on Griffin’s shoulder – gently, warmly – and asked him if he wanted to.
That was the start of the night rides.
"Night Rides" is a short slice-of-life romance about two boys falling in love while learning to drive.
Needing a book with the word "night" in the title led me to find this sweet, sweet book.
Two boys discover themselves and their sexuality in this beautifully written coming-of-age young adult novella while the one boy gives the other driving lessons at night.
Books like this make me a) miss my mother so very much and b) wish I was born to a later generation where people are more accepting and literature, like this, is more freely available.
Absolutely loved this and I am definitely looking forward to more from this author. Totally recommend this adorable story.
This is the story of how a project made 2 strangers close to each other. Charlie and Griffin was partnered for a project in school. The theme of their project is love.
This is a short story about growing up. It was sweet and cute. Just a fun read, not that much angst or conflict.
I like Griffin's mom. It was very short so not much happened and it centered on Charlie and Griffin's interaction.
This was a freebie with a nice cover photo (rare!). It’s a very low-key ya novella of discovering their sexuality. (No sex, just here’s someone I like oh no I LIKE them). Very sweet.
Short and sweet ❤️ Teenage boys finding themselves working together for an assignment, but then developing feelings while sharing examples of queer romance and learning how to drive.
This was a sweet, short story about two high school boys falling in love over a school project. It was a bit unrealistic unless this is how the kids are these days, but I still really enjoyed it. It did take me back to riding around with friends in the back roads of my town though I didn't get to meet anyone as sweet as Charlie. That boy's a keeper.
